Restoring my 8525 - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

I have upgraded my ROM to the "official but unofficial" wm6 update for cingular. I dont like it. I have upgraded my SPL to 2.10 olipro or something of the sort and wondering how to go back to the original. It seems buggy and random things happen. How would i go about doing this? I've looked on a site and some of the programs it says to use in the 'guide' to restore to the original rom/spl, dont run at all on my computer.
Anyone have any better 'guides' or advice on restoring to the original software it came with?
Any help as soon as possible would be greatly appreciated

!!!
anyone? advise?

Have you tried MrVanx's guide? Is that the one you've referred to because if not, I've heard good things about it (not tried to go backwards to WM5 personally).
Link in my signature.

can i downgrade the SPL to 1.04/06 without taking the ROM to wm5? thats what is missing in the guide. ALSO i cant get the NBH compiler to work, i can decompile and it works just fine but it doesnt decompile all the files it says that are needed to compile the new rom. weird.
so now im down to 1.10oli and wondering if i can just go to 1.04/06 and then install the wm5

If you are not planning to go back to WM5 then there is no reason to change your IPLSPL back to original.
I don't think you should be decompiling and compiling roms if you are asking these kind of questions. There are enough cooked ROMs available that you shouldn't need to customize yours any further.

i just flashed to 1.06 and left it with the 3.57 rom. i did this because my screen died and i need to send it back.

go on the Full ROMs list and find out which full ROM has your Radio on it.
download it, extract the NBH and separate it; rebuild it into an NBH with all the components your original was comprised of, flash it and you're done.
i have seperated the NBh files and im stuck there im not sure how im supposed to rebuild it. a little more direction please

Search the Forum for NBHGen...
um dont make this so hard... just go to www.htcamerica.net and download the official shipped rom and flash it to your phone before shipping it back!
edit
here is the exact link http://www.htcamerica.net/support/docs/ruu_hermes_1.34.502.1_1.16.00.00_wwe_cws_ship.exe
i also wanted to add that this will downgrade your radio in the process as well as give it the official shipped rom!
thank u all for the help. Just out of curiousity what is the difference in the one from HTC and the one on this site??

Help Please In Restoring Cing 8525! I'm Begging!!

I was going to update my Cingular 8525 to WM6 and in preparation for it flashed it with the latest OLIPRO V6. I got COLD FEET and instead decided to try upgrading to the HTC RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2_1_[1].06.502.3_6275_1.33.31.00_108_Ship.exe
Apparently the OLIPRO V6 has changed it to where I can't upgrade… I get an error (206) when trying to upgrade. I lose my SYNC connection. Doing a master reset didn't do a thing and the OLIPRO V6 is still there when I check it. Can someone PLEASE give me the instructions how to get it back to NORMAL? Yes, I realize NUUBS are a real pain in the butt, but we've got to start somewhere (you were new once, too!!).
Whoever helps, MY THANKS IN ADVANCE!!!
Check the wiki...how to flash is inthere...important however will be what OS you computer is running...i'm sytill a nooob too and i was getting the 260 errors when i tried to flash form Vista...ended up having to use a differentset of drivers...then life was cool.
search for "HERMIMG.NBH"
There are other (better) ways too, but I don't think you're good enough to do it yourself.
I'll give you one hint... Oli 1.40 is based on 1.11. The rom you you're installing is 1.04. But, before you screw around.. Read!
I've flashed other phones to different ROMs and never had any problems. As I said, I installed the Olipro V6 as recommended to insure I wouldn't "BRICK" the phone. The phone works now, BUT I still want to upgrade to the HTC supplied "RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2_1_[1].06.502.3_6275_1.33.31.00_108_Ship.exe” and be done with it. Apparently Olipro won’t allow me to do that!!! So I need to re-install what Olipro V6 REPLACED!

I DID search and read, but I guess I either missed it or don’t understand what I’m reading! So I’m a NOOB in need of help! I guess I need to be “spoon fed” whatever it takes to het me back to an ORIGINAL CINGULAR 8525 where I can upgrade to "RUU_Hermes_CINGULAR_WWE_2_1_[1].06.502.3_6275_1.33.31.00_108_Ship.exe” Did I get in over my head? I downloaded and tried the custom RUU, but kept getting the error message 240 file open. The phone shows "Hermes 100 FPL-101 and SPL-1.10.oli. All I want to do is to remove the SPL-1.10.oli and revert back to FPL-101 !!! I'm getting advice that either doesn't work, I can't make it work, I'm not explaining what I want to do OR... God I don't know!! Let it suffice to say I"M A LOST BALL IN TALL WEEDS folks. HELP!!!!!!
I'm so happy you're reading carefully
I'll do this once, if you can't figure it out, then, you're better off finding someone to pay to do it for you!
1) Get CustomRUU
2) Get the Cingular ROM
3) Get WinRAR
4) Extract Cingular ROM
5) Extract CustomRUU
6) Place the .nbh from Cingy ROM and CustomeRUU.exe into ONE directory--alone.
7) Run the CustomRUU.exe file
8) READ THE ****ING DIRECTIONS
That's it.
Oh, and stay away from roms that you don't want to spend the time to understand.
Many THANKS to LegolasTheElf!!! You pulled my bacon out of the fire and saved the day! I DO APPRECIATE IT!!! All is well and these 57 year old eyes are headed off to bed... Lesson Learned!

I have been there mrvanx guide. but he don't have the solution to this problem. Just to downgrade the rom to wm5 not the SPL.
mysharif i think we have to shout again.
Help us anybody there we are stuck here.
OK guys the SPL downgrade can be done by downgrading to SPL 1.10.oli then flash any ROM with SPL 1.04 in it.
The only reason i can see that you wish to downgrade to 1.04 is because of a warranty issue. What is the problem with your devices??
You are great. I hope it will work for my Imate JasJam. Last night I was flashing my ROM with the original ROM but modified with NBH decomplie too by dutty. Before that I wrecked my device as I used the flashing of ROM using the latest sensation of loading the SSPL to RAM by des. That was my mistake that I used the original ROM. Then I removed the USB cable as it was taking too much time and because of danger to my imate I did that. Anyhow I got the NO GSM error but then I ran the Dutty's WM6v2 cooked ROM and it fixes all the things I am using it now.
The reason for my Imate JasJam degrade is my jog is not working according to its function. You know jumping from field to field. I didn't found any of that problem solution till the page of 30 in threads and posts. I am searching but if anybody knows the link. Kindly help me. So that I will save a trip to see the warranty people. (here we don't have ladies receptionists )
Sorry for the stupid question, how do I downgrade from Oli 2.10 to Oli 1.10
Il write a guide on it...too many PMs about this.

I have the same problem. My touchscreen is dud and Softbank is very anal about the bootloader and warranty. im stuck with Olipro 2.10 and tried flashing the latest softbank rom. When i try via USB/Windows it gives me error 260.
Flashing with MicroSD works, but after a few attempts, its still Olipro bootloader...any ideas?

Ofcourse...because flashing an original RUU it doesnt recognise the new bootloader (Hence your 260 error), and HArdSPL doesnt allow itself to be overwritten by a retail RUU. IF you read through the HArdSPL threads you would know this.

Hmmm, just yesterday (Thursday) I was asked by a VP at our company if that could be done. I was reluctant to say yes, but mrvanx comes thru with a fix.
The VP is in fact worried about having to return some devices to Vodafone, and he want to make them look "original" when they go back.

Just flash SPL 1.10.oli.......................then flash a vodaphone ROM, dont use 'force SSPL', just use autodetect.
well to get spl 1.04 all u have to do is take rom koch and the wm5 rom u are downgrading to. first downgrade os. then take that rom and using rom koch split it into parts and just take the spl and make it into a nbh and use the custom ruu on here. select force sspl and itll make ur spl 1.04. this is a quick guide and do this at own risk. using this method i got my first 8525 to aku 3.5 att and original spl. if marvanx comfirms i didnt make any mistakes i can make a new thread with pics and all so we cna add this to resources and stop the questions.

You dont need to use the rom koch ... duttys nbh tool is far more appropriate for this since we aint doing any cooking.

Hi mrvanx, some input to go into your guide (in case you havent come across this yet).
While flashing 1.10Oli under Vista, users may run into a problem where after loading SSPL and the phone goes into (SSPL) bootloader mode, the RUU program cannot detect the phone and returns an error.
This is due to the Vista drivers for HTC USB Sync. The driver needs to be manually "updated" just like in your Vista flashing guide. In this case, while the phone is in SSPL bootloader mode, go into device manager, replace the default HTC USB Sync driver with the USBAS one from your Vista flashing guide.
Then soft reset the phone, and try again. Worked for me.
For some reason, SSPL bootloader may appear as a different device to Windows than the hard/standard bootloader, so even if the Vista procedure has been performed before, it looks like it needs to be done also for SSPL.

G4 - Soft SPL and flash

Hi All
Been reading the forums for a while and feel ready to take the plunge and try a wm6 upgrade.
From what ive read i can use softspl to temp cid unlock long enough to flash my phone.
this leaves me with a few of questions i couldnt find answers to.
It says extrom is untouched, so does that mean if i flashed a wm6 rom on startup it would go and install all the tmobile auto customisation stuff like when i hard reset its current (original) wm5 rom.
also i have used lokiwiz to sim unlock which worked great. Will this need re-doing?
should i want to go back to stock wm5 rom, would i need to soft spl again then run the tmobile rom thats downloadable from their website?
and lastly.
What would people recommend for a standard ish rom. Need all the basics, ie phone and keyboard transcriber etc but there are so many roms im not sure which to go for. Are most g4 safe now?
any help would be great thanks..
Ben
yes, most of the ROM are G4 safe but to be safer use WST and check the nk.nbf to see what files are in it
also most of the chefs apply a different technique regarding customization that doesn't use extended rom. You see the same message and apps installing but it's not running from ext_rom. You can, however run the ext rom customizations by browsing it and run the autorun.exe file.
to go back to your stock ROM you don't need to run sSPL again because the CID you have is the same as the stock ROM and the bootloader accepts it just fine
check the TNT series by its right, you won't be disappointed.
cheers
thanks
do i need to flash the radio rom too? i hear people talk about these a lot, the one thats running on my phone now gives me good reception

Stick to the Radio Rom from original ROM.
This way you keep the optimal performance you are used to.
Most WM6 ROMs are without radio ROM anyways.

Restore to Dutch Stock T-mobile. Incl. SPL, Splash & Radio

Anyone please confirm I am thinking right?
Here’s what I did:
1.From T-mobile.cz I got the factory Czech T-Mobile Rom (*.exe)
2. I extracted the *.exe with WinRar and got a bunch of files.
3. I took out RUU_Signed and extracted it with NBHtool and got 4 *.NB files:
769.nb
PrimarySplash.nb
SPL.nb
Windows.nb
4. In the meanwhile I extracted my original reconstructed Dutch T-Mobile RUU_Signed.nbh (confirmed working) and took the Windows.nb
5. From the Czech *.nb files I deleted the windows.nb and replaced it with my Dutch windows.nb
6. With htcRIE 0.5.0.12 I put the three Czech NB’s:769.nb (suppose radio), PrimarySplash.nb and SPL.nb together with The Dutch windows.nb together in New RUU_signed.nbh.
7. I put the newly created RUU_Signed back into the folder with files from step 2.
8. Using Winrar I stuffed ala these files together in an *.sfx file that has an instruction saying that after extracting the sfx it should start RomUpdateUtility.
9. So far so good! I clicked the sfx and it would nicely extract and start the Czech RomUpdateUtility. The utility being Czech is no problem as I/we have been using it probably a sillion times and don’t read it.
10. Now I don’t have the guts to test it on my Dutch MDA Vario IV JJ but want to know wether this would work in case of RMA.
I remember that the Dutch factory ROM-upgrade for T-Mobile Vario III (Kaiser) would restore everything: SPL, Splash etc) By doing the above I somehow think I have re-created sort of a Dutch “factory” ROM upgrade that will restore everything back to stock.
Suppose this works, will I be able to go back to Hard SPL a second time? (heard some rumors...)
I want you guys to know that I don’t have any education in ICT but consider myself smart enough to figure things like this out . However… I am not too sure about what I have created.
Thnx. For any kind of feedback.
Am willing to upload this for people who want to try.
Free Rapidshare (10 downloads) if needed I will put it in my FTP.
Was it not in The raphael original shipped ROM wiki?
Also if it would help, I think I still have the files backed up at home somewhere. If you want I could look for it.

It was but when reading the thread that goes with it I get serious doubts about that one working well
I have them backed up as well but I never dumped the splash, radio and more important the SPL. and everyone is talking about SPL's lately but no one can answer me wether one of the offered solutions is a working one.
So I was thinking to sort of creating a oneclick solution for whenever a RMA occures to me again
Was this a dumb question?

If you were able to download a factory ROM directly from your Carrier's website, then it would include everything you need to return your device to stock.
Then, all you would have to do is follow the instructions in the Hard-SPL thread to install the stock SPL (if you've flashed Hard-SPL), and then re-flash the factory ROM you downloaded to restore the original SPL.

There is no Dutch T-Mobile factoryrom.. that is the first thing I checked of course even before I had my first Vario IV at home.
And I still think somehow to remember that flashing the stock T-Mobile to my old Kaiser did flash the stock SPL as well... however I am starting to have doubts now..
Besides I haven't found anyone yet confirming that the Stock T-Mobile SPL from the Stock SPL thread actually works...
And the thingy I created should flash back stock radio and splash.. would you know of any safe way to test this Captain_Throwback??

I don't know of any "safe" way, no. I have no confidence that the Stock SPL from the stock SPL thread will work, either - that's why I had that thread closed. After you flash the stock SPL from the Hard-SPL thread, you risk bricking your phone if you try flashing a created ROM to it (even if it is created from parts of stock ROMs).
If you have a stock SPL on the phone, its possible that the extracted SPLs from that thread will actually work; but I'm already on my second phone, so I'm not willing to risk trying it.

That's my issue since tuesday I am dealing with my second raph as well the other one was only a couple of weeks old. The mobo burned and they were not able yet to recover anything. But I have set my goals on a working recoverymethod.
Too bad you had your thread closed as it was going somewhere good. and people not reading or trying unconfirmed things take their own risks as this is a development area.
Would you reconsider asking NATF to reopen it and change the topicname?

Well, I think any future conversation on the whole "flashing back to stock" can be carried on in JZ SmartMort's thread with the instructions on how to do that. He also explains in there why none of the SPLs that I extracted will ever overwrite Hard-SPL. Unless Olipro or cmonex enlighten us on how they were able to modify that 1.90 SPL to overwrite the Hard-SPL, that's the only one that'll ever work.
I did see you posted in that thread, but I think if you really NEED a different SPL than one that's in an existing stock ROM, that if you PM Olipro or cmonex, one of them may be able to help you.

If you're able to successfully flash your Franken-ROM w/stock SPL to your phone after flashing the 1.90 warranty SPL, your phone still works, and you can connect to a computer using Activesync or Mobile Device Center, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to re-flash Hard-SPL onto your device. The key words in that sentence are "if" and "successfully" . . .
