well i was trying to download the version of windows mobile 6 from my computer and the usb cable came out during the process of the install,now when i try to get my phone to work it gets stuck on the orange screen and will not do anything at all.is there anyone out there that could help me get this phone back to normal as now i aint got a phone to us

This morning I had a stock Mogul... original ROM, no hacks, even had the Sprint S/W on it. It worked fine.
I downloaded the new Sprint ROM 3.35.651.2 and ran it. While running the Mogul rebooted, went to bootloader, then failed. It was then stuck in bootloader mode. I read up and found that a successful flash should bring it out gracefully so didn't troubleshoot much. I tried a couple of times more to no effect. It was still in bootloader mode.
I then downloaded the old 2.17.651.0 ROM from HTC and that wouldn't work either. Still in boot loader mode.
I read somewhere that a guy got the 3.16.651.0 leaked ROM to update even when the others would not. So, I downloaded and tried it. Everything looked good! It was loading the ROM, the bar went across the screen to 100% and then...
nothing. A black screen. Vista loaded some new drivers and seemed to know there was a USB device attached but I couldn't connect to it in any useful way through Explorer and it didn't show up in the Mobile Device Center.
I thought I'd try flashing it again but since the screen was black I was just guessing. I did a hard reset (both soft keys plus soft reset button) and I got nothing... not even the same connection I'd had after the 3.16 update.
Now, I plug in the device and get no USB connect sound or notification in Windows. I get a orange light on the right LED for maybe 15 seconds then it goes out. Other than that one brief LED the thing is a brick as far as I can tell.
Any ideas? I plan on taking it in to Sprint tomorrow and telling them they bricked my phone with their update if I can't figure anything out tonight.

Have you tried holding down power and camera while pressing reset to see if you can get back to bootloader?

FYI... I just left the battery out for about 5 minutes (what the heck, worth a try right?) and put it back in. I get no lights, buttons do nothing, soft & hard reset do nothing, forced bootloader does nothing. The only way I can get the phone to do anything is to plug it in to a USB cable. The orange light comes on for about 15 seconds then goes out. The computer never recognized there is a new USB device attached.
I loaded many custom ROMs on my old 6700 and never had a problem. I leave my new 6800 alone and wait for the upgraded stock ROM and look what happens! Guess I shoulda used a custom ROM instead, eh?
lol sounds like a legitimate "brick" to me. Very strange, and congrats on your new mogul paperweight (i also have one that was a victim of water) haha, good for holding things down on the windy days.
Yup, bricked.
Sprint couldn't figure out how to unbrick it and just gave me a new phone. The new one upgraded nicely and now I have GPS!

no need to retype what you said. i had the EXACT same problem. phone was completely bricked and continued to crash at 11%. I went to my local store (i work for sprint, and i know a smart tech there) and was told it was kaput. Hard reset, tried to reload other roms, the whole 9 yards. It's a goner, and now i have a new mogul in my hand. I'm afraid to try it again. I'm running vista, and im wondering if that's the problem.
Anyone with vista have the same bricking problem? Is it an issue to directly upgrade from factory rom to the 3.35? My old brick had the current 2.17 or whatever... HALP

The first time I tried the update I connected the Mogul to my Vista Business 64bit Thinkpad T61p.
The second time I tried it (on the new Mogul) was from my Vista Business 32bit desktop (white box).
I don't know if that helps or not. The second time went smoothly.
On another note... an entertaining one... while I was in the Sprint store today waiting for their tech to confirm that the phone was bricked another guy came in with a Mogul and complained of the same thing. I took the last Mogul they had in stock. Poor guy. I hope they get more soon... there are a lot of people who want GPS and are upgrading their phones. That means there are gonna be some more bricks I'd think.

My comp has windows vista premium so instead of activesync i have windows device center 6.1 I have unclicked allow USB connections
but i think my comp doesnt recognize that they the phone is connected at all although i do here the sound that lets me know that a usb device is connected

Please make sure that USB connection in Activesync is disabled
Also make sure that your USB cable is properly connected

Hi, I jus finally upgraded my Samsung Vibrant's firmware using Samsung Kies! Yeah, the only thing it successfully did was brick my phone. It completely killed it and it doesn't even turn on anymore. No boot- no Vibrant screen- not even charge logo when plugged in...
After Kies said "Successfully updated" the phone shut off and it didnt turn back on... What can I do? What are my options? Will Samsung fix it? Will they ship me a new one? (for free?)
Can I do anything on my own that can fix it?

I finally got my vibrant up and running again after a attempting to install a custom rom. This isn't the the first time but I was able to flash my phone back to its original state, in fact this isn't the first second or third time I updated using Kies Mini. What I did notice however is that Kies itself updated once I connected to my PC, it did what it had to as usual, said it was complete, my phone turned off and never turned back on!!!
Someone tell Samsung to check their Kies mini update cause now I'm without my android, and phones here in the Bahamas ARE NOT CHEAP!!
Kies breaks 10x more phones than rooting does...
when you get your new phone, trust the guys here and root your phone, get a great 2.2 ROM..

1) Phone wouldn't connect to PC but it would charge - got over that by just using a memory card and always having ROMS on the card
2) went on holiday (gran canaria) at the beach so a bit of sand got on my phone but it was working fine for the rest of the holiday
3) Got on the plane and the phone was working fine i Accidently left it off airplane mode but oh well we lived ad im sure that hasn't affected anything and fell asleep with it in my pocket. now ive got back to the UK but the phone was of even though it was charged before hand. tried to use the wall charger but it wouldn't work when i got home i tried USB but that wouldn't work
4) today ive gone to get a new battery in case the battery has died but no battery worked. i went ot about 3 different shops and now im sure its the phone.
5) ive tried cleaning (blowing the sand out of the phone and it never got wet so now i don't know what to do. i was using the Foxhound rom (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1162715) which was working fine the whole time
What are my options? I dont have insurance but i was considering to get i. so i could them to replace it but not sure if i could get another since im sure the warranty is void since ive rooted my phone and put a new rom on. If that's not an option then i wouldn't mind opening my phone to try and fix it myself if someone could point me in the right direction. Annnnnd if that's not an option how much could i sell it for as it is? ive still got the box and stuff lol
oh yeah when i say i cant turn it on i dont mean bootloop i mean it wont even vibrate when i press the on button tried soft and hard reset ive opened the phone and tried cleaning it out and i cant get into recovery or download obviously because it wont turn on

If you already changed the battery and the phone doesn't boot, neither in download nor in recovery mode, the only thing you can try is to go the the store/service center and ttry to get a warranty replacement.
If the phone is "dead", they won't be able to check if it is rooted or has a custom ROM.

thanks yeah i was planning to do this later today anyway. but i open the pone so will they know?
Ok they phoned me and told me because its rooted id have to pay. plus i need a new motherboard which will cost 163.21 or someting. sould i get it dont or just get the phone back and sell it?
Oddly enough after they said they wont fix it without me paying a lot since its rooted i just went a took my phone back tried to turn it on for the sake of it and it worked dont know what they did but at least im getting my pictures for now. ill see if it breaks again

Last week buy in "ZOPO Mobile Spain" a phone ZP 990.
This weekend I root the phone and put several roms with no problems ...
But now I've got one, which is restarting screen stays black "enlightened" and lighted buttons.
When connected to the computer with "SnapPea" I recognized as "C2". So I come to that I have gotten concluison
one rom for that model and the phone has gone mad.

my wife got our 3 year old a pbs playtime pad 7+ model pbskd7001 the day after we got it I figured I would set it up I connected the wifi to it and as soon as I did it said it had an update that needed to be installed on the tablet so like any device I have had the had updates that needed to be installed I went to install the update on the tablet it downloaded just fine restarted and began installing about half way though installing the update it stopped due to some kind of error so it shut down ever since then it get to the logo screen and shuts down after about 2-3 sec and does that every time I go to turn it on when I try to go in to recovery mode it shows the android guy laying on his back with a open door on his stomach not red triangle nothing and no recovery options are visable just the android guy. I have tried the button combos as told to do for the dead android problem and nothing I cant install device drivers on my computer but it will show up on my computer as a usb developer device. am looking for info as to what I can do at this point to try to bring it back to life so my 3 year old can play some learning games thank you so much in advance.
