i am trying to upgrade from wm2003 second edition to wm2005 or 2006 but when i put the device on boatloader and later on the cradle where usb appears on the screen the installation proccedure stops on the first steps of reaching erasing rom , infact the small window that appears remains for some minutes at 0 percent and later gives an error report and "remove the device from the cradle and reset the device and retry again"
can anyone help?

IT'S FANTASTIC AND EASY WHIT THE USB CRADDLE
What you may try to do, for a start, is to reinstall the ROM upgrade once again, USING THE USB CRADLE and nothing else. Better remove the SIM card before installing the upgrade. Also, make sure that the battery is fully charged. All through the upgrade process, do not touch the device.
Finally....
Next day When i was in my job put my imate in the cradle, ran the upgrade and it worked.....I am happpppppy ¡¡¡¡

I have a MDA from T-Mobile for 3 weeks now. I find out about the rom update (RUU16006WWE_T-mobile_NL.exe), tried it and got the message that the update failed.
On my MDA screen therse is only the message "USB v1.01".
Running the update again doesn't help.
Is there a solution or do I have to contact T-Mobile?

One of my Friends had the same problem , he tried another computer and it works , then guess what was the problem ???? We found that it was ZONE ALARM !!!
So please check You'r computers guyes ,it might be another software makes the upgrade failed .

We have to be aware, that the upgrade program says "NO PROGRAMS RUNNING ON THE PPC AND NO PROGRAMS RUNNING ON THE PC ITSELF"
It's a hard lesson i learned years ago while flashing a BIOS..... if possible, do it at an UPS equipped PC (or notebook btw) to reduce your chances of killing your device.
Windows XP has many more programs running than one would suspect. As a first measure, kill all the ones you can in the right side of your taskbar, shut down your Anti Virus and Firewall, and cross your fingers while upgrading.....
Should we also shut down Activesync? Or is it needed for the upgrade?

I am in the same boat this day. Please help !!! I tried to upgrade the imate threw the club imate ... i downloaded ok i believe ... i did not use the cradel just a mini sync usb cord ... i used this before many times to sync... but when i tried to run the official update it stopped and now it says only serial v1.02 when i put it in the cradel it says usb v1.o2 its dead... no light for batter scharge nothing???? no sync at all please help
ActiveSync is not involved in the upgrade process. The upgrade program runs out of this, with it's own connection and settings via USB.
I haven't used the mini cord, so I'm of no help about it.
Try the upgrade program again, looks like it failed to fully flash your ROM. (That's why you don't see the charging light, it's Software controlled)

Try to update your imate using a cradle connected to a pc(usb). It should work
i have the exact same problem as highlighted by the others here, USB and v1.02 screen. Question is, how do you continue to flash your rom after it fails and you put back your unit into the cradle and activesync does not sync it anymore
the upgrade doesnt use activesync so it doesnt matter. Just put the imate in the cradle(in other pc, if possible) and run the upgrade

hi guys. my qtek only says USB v 1.02. I cannot do any rom flash. what rom should i use. where can i download it from?

I've had this thing 1 hour and I was running the latest rom upgrade from O2. While it was checking the rom in my XDA2 it came back saying "Error 120: Country ID Error". Now the thing is stuck in a serial bootloader 1.03 mode and grey screen.
I'd not made ANY changes to config of the XDA before trying to upgrade it.
Any ideas?
Don't lose hope mate! I had a very similar problem, with the same result, only my screen said "Serial v1.01" Black text on grey background, no backlight. When I placed it into the USB Cradle it changed to "USB v1.01". It would do this even after I took the battery out for 20 minutes, the moment I relaced the battery, without even pressing the power button. I believe this is correct operation for the XDA II when it's "between ROMs" so to speak, perhaps someone in authority will confirm this?
Anyway, after rebooting the XDA II and the PC, and re running the upgrade sequence about 10 times it worked, and I now have a perfectly functional XDA II. Made me sweat, and swear, for a few hours though, I can tell you.

I have the same problem... still not working eventhough tried many many times..
It wont even go to bootloader mode.. (pressing power, navigation and reset button)
I come up with serial on top but when i plug-in to a usb cradle it turns to USB and v.1 06 at bottom..
I also tried with different roms.. (QTEK and MDAII) upgrade utility but it only comes up with a window "checking the information on your pocket pc.. .please wait" then the xdaII screen went blank (like no power) and the utility does nothing else..
can someone help? or have i lost the xda II totally?

when it says "Serial" and "v1.06" then changes to "USB" when you place in the cradle, IT IS in bootloader mode.
I had this same problem with a recent i-mate I bought for my boss. It won't let you downgrade or switch to any other ROM besides the 1.66 i-mate ROM.
1. Open Activsync without the unit in the cradle.
2. Go to Activsync and uncheck the box where it says "Allow USB Connection with this Computer" (seems strange I know but it works)
3. Put the i-mate in the cradle. It should say "USB" and "v1.06" at the bottom.
4. Download and run the i-mate ROM version 1.66 from clubimate website.
5. Allow it a few minutes and it should finally come up with the screen about converting blah blah to blah blah ROM.
For some reasons, the new i-mates coming out that have the 1.66 ROM will not allow a downgrade to ANY OTHER ROM. Which I think is BS.
For the guy having trouble with 1.10 Radio version. My suggestion is to re-run the 1.66 ROM (I think it's your only option at this point until a new ROM is issued from i-mate). It may fix things. My 1.10 radio version seemed better the second time I loaded the ROM (I know it shouldn't make a difference but it seemed to).[/list]

When i tried the upgrade program version 1.0 from orange 166 DK my XDAII started at least to show error codes when upgrading.
Before it only become black
My unit was á new QTEK 2020 with french system 1.66, boatloder 1.06 maybe newer units needs the latest himalya upgrade software.

I had the very same problem couple nights ago. All I did was soft and hard reset, all of which didn't help. But just before I lost my hope, I re-cradled my XDA II, at that time my xda's screen was still black and displayed "Serial", then I chose different upgrade version and installed it from my PC and everything turned out fine.

Reset your device, place it in the cradle and re-run the upgrade.
thanx i tried it already from 2 computers in one its showing error 103 no rom image found and in another its showing error 101 country code problem
Which ROM are you attempting to upgrade to? Which one exactly had you previously upgrade to? What operator do you use?
I'm asking all this to try and get a better picture. Normally, people in your situation can recover by applying the same upgrade again, or, at worst, re-applying the one they are upgrading from.
Make sure you are in bootloader mode (by pressing Jog button and Power button at the same time as pressing reset) before retrying any upgrade. Also make sure the USB cradle is plugged directly into a USB port on your PC and not through a hub and that the power supply is connected to the cradle. It may help to make sure that Activesync isn't running also.

Activesync is not needed for upgrades. The upgrade process looks after its own connection. I suggest you follow the procedures in my post here to overcome the Country ID error problem. You will need to know what the device's operator and language IDs are currently set to, which is why I asked you above. I suspect you won't have Devicedata.txt, so it becomes necessary to know what operator and language the previous upgrade was.
to revive your XDA2 again
The main point is what is ROM 1.66 come from (e.g. i-mate ot T-mobile)
If you doesn't upgrade 1.66 ROM by yourself or it came from factory ,you must tell us which operator did you buy from.
If you try upgrade across operator ,it will hang on boot loader screen.
And again, which 1.72 ROM did you try to upgrade from?

I'm Luca from Italy, and I'm writing here hoping that You can help me to recover my dead PPC.
My PPC, when living, had Windows Mobile 5 like O.S.
So, As i've some problems with the phone I've decided to downgrade the radio version from 1.17 (people say that it is buggy) to 1.08.
So i run the HimaUpgradeUt_noID (I've also HimaUpgradeUt), but i've forgotten to delete the NK.nbf file from the directory.
I put the PPC in bootloader mode (SERIAL on top and ver. 1.06 on bottom) and then to the cradle directly to the motherboard USB connector
The sofware begin to update upgrading even ROM CE file, but when it arrived at 31% himaUpgrade stopped its work, showing that I need to reset (only normal reset and not soft reset) the PPC From this time until now my PPC show always and only the bootloader view.
When I try to upgrade again, the himalaya soft don't show what my PPC has like rom or radio version. It shows only the Ce rom and Radio that I'm going to ugrade.
It seems that software isn't able to erase ROM IMAGE
Active sync can't identify the device (some time it is indentified as unknown device).
When i start the software for ugrade the Active sync tray icon disappear.
I'm only able to ugrade radio stack or ExtRom.
PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE, HELP ME.
P.S. The device is unlocked

I'ev tryed: POWER + CAMERA + REC + STYLUS over the hole.
When I put the PPC to battery charger, red led is on until nothing is on the display, while when there is the written over the display, led is off.

Hello everyone,
After few weeks of lurking of this and some other forums related on PDA, I decided to upgrade my qutek9100 (MDA Vario 1, wizard 200) to win 6.1, however i know there are some risks about that.
1st i checked some info about device and it reported that it is SIM unlocked but it's CID locked.. (to qtek).
2nd as some guy from our local news groups gave me program called ShellTool, I started the procedure, downloaded ROM i liked (TNT.20273 Professional Wizard -from this form) and whole procedure took cca 5min of loading the new rom (program reported that it would take over 15mins) and after that i reset the device (pressed small key in spot on the side with a stylus) and from then when i turn on the device it starts to load but it stops on screen where are IPL /SPL /GSM / OS info and some clouds (there is also qtek logo on screen)
after that windows mobile logo should appear but it doesn't. nothing happens after that.
3th I know maybe i should try with tips from (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=329147) but i didn't
I tried to format rom with mtty 1.42 (i put device in bootloader mode > selected USB in mtty > typed cmd task 28 55aa)
also 'wake up' device with cmd set 14 0 > task 28 > taks 0 (i followed instructions from one our local forum)
but after all of that i did nothing changed.
what should i do now ?
I think i described every step i did good enough so you know at which stage i am, and what possibly can be done now.

heh this was fast, I tried one more thing which worked.
I put device in bootloader mode and started original ROM instalation (RUU_Prodigy_2170702_21707102_20710_QTEK_WWE_Ship) and now there is win again but 05 ofc. I thought on that day ago but i could not find that ROM on qtek website (i think they have some problems).
Ok this thread is kinda pointless now. So if there is nothing new mod should delete it coz i can't
