Hi,
I have started to update the wiki slightly - but now I am coming to a point where I do not know, where to place the information.
First of all let me shortly describe how I bicked my hermes last week:
1)
I used WM6 Rom Kitchen from here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298636 and DL the DEV_HERMES_GER and OEM_GER_VODA - cooked my ROM - installed it via the tools that comes with RomKoch and everything went smooth like silk - my compliments!
since it have been quite a while that i have configured my hermes I could not get everything working correctly - I assumes it "must" be the fault of my own cooking creations (which was not) I decided to install back again the official German Vodafone Rom
2)
So DL the ROM-Version 2.04.162.1 [from http://www.vodafone.de/hilfe-support/technischer-support/97014.html] and flashed the hermes again... Again no problems with the installation - but again the Problem was sitting in front of the device and I still struggled to get my WLAN and Inet working correctly I decided that I should simply install my old initial ROM
3)
So installed HER_VODA_1201623_1030700_GER_SHIP again – np during installation – but then at the end of the day the hermes did not boot up (hang up in windows mobile screen
4)
Went to bed
5)
Wake up – situation was still the same – so I started to read here in the wiki – found various hint’s but none of them lead into the right direction on the first look. Let me explain why:
First Problem:
detecting the right error: Since I have a Vodafone device the splash screens are all red – so it was almost unnoticeable that the phone report “NO GSM”
Second Problem:
For what ever reason it was not only the case that the radio rom seamed to be corrupted – also the CID was not sowing up correct. Took me a while to find that mtty.exe and use the “info 2” command -> that returned me a timeout (found that problem also here in the forum – I am sorry but cant remember the exact message).
At least it was reported that the battery should be removed and it take a while (the guy was reporting he was doing a walk – but the battery back in and the ‘info 2’ would return a correct CID – well the last try was to wait 20h – but still a corrupt CID.
Third Problem:
With a corrupted CID you can’t flash the original Vodafone ROMS (or any other that does CID checking).
Fourth Problem:
SD-Card flashing have all the same symptoms like the other official flash tools – they check the vendor too.
Fifth Problem:
At least how I have understood it the CustomRUU Updater should install “everything” – no matter what the current CID is – well this app always showed me a ERROR 262 – tried various things that have been suggested (incl. ActiveSync uninstall & install) but could not get around this problem.
Sixed Problem:
I had not unlocked my hermes before – so I could not simply use downgrade to the Bootloader 1.04 http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Howto_Bootloader104
So what’s left then ?
The http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Unbrick matrix showed me what to do: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=PB_KITL_HERMES – so got that Mircosoft thing (added the URL in Wiki) followed the procedure (well mix the forum thread post and the Wiki article) and then I could boot up (well I was a bit confused by all the errors that popped up on my PC but well I simply have to be more relaxed and had just to focus on my hermes) – then I could execute the magic SSPL_HERM.exe
Once that was executed the HERMIMG.nbh (Vodefone ROM-Version 2.04.162.1) located on the sd-card started to install itself – WOW! Unbricked my hermes finally. [installed after all that again my cooked WM6 and I am quite happy with the result].
But actually I thought, why I had all this trouble (and why I could not simply find the solution in the wiki – so that’s why I started to edit it – but as I said at the beginning – I do not know, where and how I could add more information that would fit into my problem scenario and how I finally solve it.
Just to summarize my Problems/symptoms (what every reason have caused them):
- Bootloader v1.09 (cause of installed original Vodafone Rom)
- locked hermes (Level.:FF)
- NO GSM (hard to read on the red background)
- constant corrupted CID (and removing the battery over 20h did not fix that)
- CustomRRU Update refused to update any software [always reported a ‘262’]
Actually I want to help people who had the same nightmare with this combination of problems and want to direct them to the solution of their problem: use sd-card, PlatformBuild and KITL
So any suggestions? Thanks in advance.
Matthias
Hi,
I'm trying to flash my Wizard (T-Mobile Mda Vario to be exact) to WM6 ("SNN Edition Version 3.0 LITE"). And I'm stuck
Before I touched anything that was what I got:
IPL: 2.21.0001
SPL: 2.21.0001
GSM: 02.19.11
OS: 2.21.26
// Just after I got my Wizard I have used lokiwiz03a to be able to use it with my Orange SIM card, but after that I have hard reseted it.
Here's what I have done:
- I'm using a Windows XP computer
1. I took off the SIM card and SD card.
2. Turned on my Wizard and connected it via USB to computer (with the latest ActiveSync - don't know the version but I've just downloaded it from Microsoft site).
3. It has synchronized.
- my battery was 85% full
4. I've downloaded "Wizard Service Tool" and clicked the wide button on the top "Enable RAPI..." or something like that (at the black screen on the left it said that I should click this button before doing anything else with this program). Then I clicked "Device Info" to be sure that I have a G4 Wizard.
5. I have unplugged the Wizard's USB (I don't really know why, but I've been nervous).
6. Then plugged it again and waited until the ActiveSync has synchronized.
7. I've used HardSPL as told in "Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies" - everything came fine. I got the white screen and after my device has restarted I had:
IPL 2.21.0001
SPL 2.21.olip
// I don't remember what OS version was, and I got no GSM line
8. I waited for ActiveSync to synchronize and then ran ROMUpdateUtility_Wizard_NoID.exe (from "SNN Edition Version 3.0 LITE" - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=383524).
9. I did what the program had told me to do (it has been the same as HardSPL).
10. In one of the final steps (after clicking "UPDATE") it hadn't written any information about "Image Version" and "Language" in "To" section but I didn't take this as an issue and clicked "next".
11. I got the progress bar, my Wizard's screen went black.
12. Finally, on the PC I got the information saying that it can't accomplish the upgrade and I should get a newer version of RUU or something like that (I freaked out and closed that window without making a screen shoot). I didn't get even 1% (I had 0) but I've seen the progress bar.
What I have now on my Wizard are three colored bars on my screen. In the top right corner it's written "RUU", in the bottom left "USB". I also have "IPL 2.21.0001" and "SPL 2.21.olip" written on the bars.
Please tell me what should I do now?
Should I unplug my Wizard's USB from PC?
Should I click any button on my Wizard?
Do I already have a brick or is there a chance for me?
Please help.
Thanks in advance,
Alex(ander)
From the "Wizard Windows Mobile 6 for newbies" guide, download the Mun RUU and use that. Extract it somewhere and paste the nk.nbf file from the ROM you wish to use and it should be ok. If you reset your wizard it will boot in WM normally. There's nothing wrong with it.
Thank you very much. You gave me hope
I'll do what you've said when I calm down.
EDIT//
Man, that's great. I have the WM6
Thanks a lot again
You are welcome. Glad everything worked out well.
Hi guys,
I need your help. You'd make me amazingly happy if you could solve my problem.
I have an Orange SPV C100 (french one) and I keep trying to flash wm6.1 (the one Blackdragon_860 has released).
My problem is : I can't flash that rom. The updating process crash at 4% and I get an error saying that the ROM is corrupted.
Do you have any ideas to help me ?
Here are some additional information taken from the Hard-SPL And Soft-Spl walktrough :
1. Copy spl.nb, spl.lnk and jumpspl.exe to the root of device
Click to collapse
I've done that alright
, hold camera and launch spl.lnk -
Click to collapse
I've done that too.
you`ll see the white screen
Click to collapse
I have no white screen. Instead a file named JumpSPL.txt is generated... Here is what is inside :
-----------------------
Comandline is: 0x10000000 \SPL.nb
SPL File: \SPL.nb
Jump Address: 0x10000000
kmode is 0
SPL file size: 524288 bytes
3. From the flasher folder run ROMUpdateUtility.exe and follow instructions to flash the Hard-SPL if needed. or you can flash *ANY* oxygen rom
Click to collapse
I've done that too. I put RUU_Signed.nbh from wm61OxygenUpdate1.rar in the same directory than ROMUpdateUtility.exe
Before the flashing process itself, ROMUpdateUtility.exe tell me I going to flash the image version from 1.7.74.1 to : 1.01
Then I have a rainbow screen which says :
ONBL : 1.07.0000
SPL : 1.07.0000
Oxygen : IU
The flashing process start, then crash and 4%... Saying that image file corrupted.
One last information :
I got the same error with other ROMS. Here the list of what I already tried :
Blackdragon_860's rom, released the 11-05-2008
Standard rom, the one that comes with Soft and Hard SPL (weight about 641Ko)
A Russian rom, taken today from zfree (here)
I didn't tried the chinese one. But as edgeofthestring has eventually the same problem than mine, I not will go for this rom.
I tried to be as complete as possible... I truely need some help.
Plz plz plz hrlp.
Thx
Guigoui
Try first flashing this rom:
http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=6B0FDY24
After this hard-spl and than flash any rom you like
Always use rom loader from hard-spl and before flashing rename rom to RUU_Signed.nbh
i also tried to flash the file posted by you but after 4 % the phone reboots and the setup gives me the: " invaliv vendor id " message
Default
ok. may it works when you do it like this:
1. restart your phone
2. Copy spl.nb, spl.lnk and jumpspl.exe to the root of device
3. restart phone, don't connect to your PC!
4. open total commander, hold camera button and launch spl.lnk
5. Do you see a white screen? if yes proceed if not it has no
point proceeding, flashing will fail anyway!
6. Now connect your phone to your pc using the usb cable
7. From the flasher folder run ROMUpdateUtility.exe and follow
instructions to flash the Hard-SPL
8. After flashing Hard-Spl, to avoid reflashing, use always use
flasher from hard spl and rename the desired rom to flash to
RUU_signed.nbh
Hope this will finaly work for you!
i have tried it, i have the wm6.1 chinese version rom and the hard spl is not working at all in this rom, i have tried it with total commander and after the white screen appears and i connect the phone to the pc it is nor recognized by the pc...
thx nemphis for helping me... but it just don't work.
Believe me I'm not numb. I can read and use my little brain... I think I tried everything (including throwing my device to the other side of my room). There is something that keep my device from displaying this f*****g white screen.
Just for the record, I repeat, I have a french blocked orange C100...
If someone has got in the same problem and finally sorted it out, plz share how.
Nemphis, thx again but I doubt I will ever have wm6.1... Anyway I give up, so I guess I will never have wm6.1...
By the way, I also tried the rom you advised but as you so rightly said "if not it has no point proceeding, flashing will fail anyway!".
Thx you all...
c u...

Is your phone sim unlocked also?
When reading through these forums there also are people saying you still need this: http://www.imei-check.co.uk/
Or ask your operator for the sim unlock code, they should give it when your phone is more than 1 year old.....
Phone simunlocked today... gonna try again tonight... Hope it will eventually work this time... Last hope anyway...

Was your phone "app unlocked" before begining ? I would assume it is necessary, but won't pretend I'm a guru...

@guigoui :
I had this same, white screen didnt appeared .. but after unlocking using this way: http://rapidshare.com/files/105133496/Unlock_HTC.rar.html you'll see it (after runing SPL.lnk with camera button pressed) all is working !!!
I've WM6.1 !!!
Thanks!
This sounds pretty good vovakk... I'll test your file tonight (because I had no white screen after having my device simunlocked)
I can't to stand waiting until tonight...
It WORKED !!!! Now I have WM6.1 !!!
Ok so here are some additional information that could be useful.
Be sure you have .net framework 2.0 or newer before starting the unlocking process (the file shared shared by vovakk) otherwise you would be stuck at the second step.
When at step 5, I'm not sure which profile is required but, for me, it worked with "No security".
Once you've done step 5, you'll get THE white screen when laucnhing SPL.Ink (I confirm). You can start flashing.
I've flashed several rom as nemphis told me to, and it worked. Here is the list in the right order, with some notes :
1. http://www.megaupload.com/nl/?d=6B0FDY24 (given by nemhpis) : takes about 2-3 minutes, when done, I believed that my device was dead because it took a while before the PIN screen showed. Don't panic, just wait.
2. http://rapidshare.com/files/65732449/hspl.7z.html (the original Hard-Soft SPL - created by sp3dev) : extract, don't change anything, just launch RomUpdateUtility.exe. Flashing process takes less than 1 second
3. http://rapidshare.com/files/114457795/wm61OxygenUpdate1.rar (THE Windows Mobile 6.1) : In the RomUpdateUtility.exe folder, just replace the original NUU_signed.nbh by the one inside wm61OxygenUpdate1.rar. Launch RomUpdateUtility.exe. Eveything else is like 1. except that my device rebooted fast without being stuck a while on the windows mobile logo screen. The device reboot, you enter your PIN and then welcome to WM6.1 !
Hope someone would find interesting to read my so long posts...
I thank you all for your patience and help... I wouldn't be able to do it by myself.
C you
hey GuiGoui can you upload this file here or Rapidshare please. Megaupload is way tooooo slow. RUU_OxygenWM5_1.5.401.2_R3_4.1.13.28_02.67.90_HTC_EUR_Test.exe
thanks
I can't.... 8Mo limited...

How did it work............ i ended up lockin my phone it was unlocked before... now no application works... anymore it say this application is not have signed certificates..... PLZ ANY1 HELP I DONT EVEN KNOW HOW TO HARD BOOT THIS HANDSET..... I NEED URGENT HELP PLZZZZZZZZZZZZZ...
I made an attempt to what I thought was an upgrade to my x7501, i have wm6 i wamt 6.1. I ran the unlocker oilpro and the phone seemed fine, then I rebooted the device. I never noticed any thing other than a program that installed on the phone. The oilpro never completed. Now I can not start the device. it seems like i have no power. I have $300 to the person who can fix it this week. I live in washington dc and I need this phone fixed. my email is [email protected] no bull ****ters please, I dont have time. there is no 3 color bars etc...
Hi,
After using athena_unlocker, my X7500 also ran black after reboot without any loading screen, but since the x7501 is now supported by athena_unlocker (I presume you've downloaded the latest version at XDA), it should be possible to re-update a x7501 ROM.
You should at first try to download the original HTC x7501 ROM and re-update your device:
http://download.america.htc.com/RUU_Athena_HTC_US_2.19.453.4_105_1.47.51.00_Ship.exe
or one of those ROMs at xda (which are for x7500, though)
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=314672 ; reply#4, I used T-MOB005 - version with spl,ipl and etc
- press power on button on the x7501 for at least 3 secs even if you can't see a thing
- connect x7501 with USB and make sure that ActiveSync is running (of course, it won't connect!)
- start ROMUpdateUtility.exe from the downloaded ROM-version (you must have administrator rights)
In case the ROMupdateutility doesn't find the x7501 (connection error, still black scren), try the following:
- press the camera button on the right, hold it and press reset button for some time - the boot loader screen (Olinex v1.20 in your case) should appear, then you can proceed with the original ROM re-update.
- accept all warnings and update, with me, it did connect and updated the ROM since the SPL had already been installed by the unlocker before (just no ROM => black screen)
Afterwards, my device at least started again so I could finish the unlocking process, it finally worked.
I can only tell that it worked for me 2 times, first original ROM => Olinex SPL1.2 => Athena AP4.0/Olinex SPL3.5, in both cases the same black screen occured (however, the bootloader is already installed on the device, so an update will work). It seems that the boot loader has some problems to upload the ROM itself, so only the new boot-loader version is on the device, you have to upload the ROM separately...just give it a try.

Remove sim and SD card
Remove battery for few mins then replace battery(sometimes it doesn't seat properly)
Plug in the mains charger and see if the charging light comes on.
If so try to boot into bootloader.
If you see the tricolor screen, connect to the computers usb port and run the original rom from the links above.
Good luck
Hi guys, I've just tried to unlock my ameo and am stuck at the bootloader screen. I have a wm6 rom downloaded and am trying to put it on however, I cannot work out how to do it. I cannot get a RUU to access my ameo as it isn't active sync'd. can anyone tell me which program to use to get the rom on the machine?
thanks
If all its correct the bootloader should say "SPL1.20 olipro"
at the bottom of the page it should say "serial"when you plug athena in the pc USB port it changes to "USB"
Just download a rom appropriate for SPL1.20 unpack it in a folder in your desktop and click in the installer.
Remember that any memory card you may use has to be taken off the athena before you do anything.
also if bootloader do not say SPL1.20 a rom for SPL1.20 wont work.
Hi PBL, thanks for the response.
I have 1.20 listed and usb at the bottom.
I have downloaded the wm6 file but that is all there is, when you say click on the installer, I don't know what you mean, windows asks what to open the file with. Could you give me a link for a wm6 rom with a downloader?
Cheers for any help, I know how annoying noobie questions can be.
Phil
Have you found it out already or do you still need help?
Help still required!
After using AthenaUnlocker for the first time, your bootloader has been updated to Olinex 1.20 (appearing on your screen), however you still might have no ROM installed. => black screen after resetting your Ameo.
Additionally, your Ameo is still locked for other ROMs (as it was with mine), so no unofficial ROM here might work at first. In your case you need an official Ameo WM6.0 ROM found here , if you already have it, the better.
- (Download the ROM onto your PC),
- be sure that your Ameo is turned on and connected to the PC.
- start the romupdateutility.exe (admin rights on the PC, no SIM-card or mini-disk inserted into the Ameo), accept the warnings and click next, it will tell you your current ROM version and the one to upload, hit next and so on, finally click on update, after a while the status screen on the PC screen will also appear on your Ameo.
- wait until it is done and the Ameo has rebooted and installed
- restart the Athena unlocker and repeat steps 1 to 3
No matter what you do: NEVER disconnect the device from the PC during upload!
Hey will, Just done that, all went well, 100% upload, screen went black, comp says no connection, now I have a red light round the joystick and cannot turn on or get to bootloader!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Any ideas?
Have you updated the T-Mobile-ROM? Did you press the camera-button AND reset button? The Olinex-bootloader screen should appear.
Updated the rom, then it went blank and the red light appeared, now I cannot get the bootloader screen up
wait a minute!!!!!!!!!!!!
SHE LIVES!!!!!!!!!!
Am i right in thinking I now need to do all 3 steps in the unlocker again?
I forgot to tell you the most import rule: Dont panic!
Yes, repeat steps 1-3 from the Unlocker, start with step 1, I will wait for you.
JUST a second: Your device is showing Olinex v1.20 when in bootloader mode AND/OR your 6.0 ROM is starting now, correct??
Cheers Will, The battery is as flat as a fart at the mo, so gonna leave it till the morning. Thanks for your help and I'll post here tomorrow to let you know how I go.
Thanks agin, you're a life saver!
Phil
Glad your Ameo didn't break.
Loading the battery to 90+% is essential as it might break your device during upload.
Remember: after each ROM update (Radio update also etc.) the device will perform a hard-reset, so you have to wait each time until your Ameo has finished installation and has resynced with your PC.
IF AND ONLY IF the ROM itself has been loaded without problems and your Ameo has synced with your PC, then
- proceed with Athena unlocker, repeat step1 => wait for full installation and resync (don't close Athena unlocker) => hit finish-button on PC
- do step 2 (update), then WAIT for reset, full installation, and resync BEFORE proceeding on the PC because
- as for step2 the unlock-program will be copied and started onto the Ameo itself (that is why you have to wait)
- hit OK on the PC (the screen will inform you about the unlock process on the PDA, hit ok if the device is synced and ready), on the PDA you have to accept the installation of the program, hit install?/yes? there and unlock BOTH SIM and CID (=ROM unlocker), so you can use any phone-provider and any unofficial ROM
- finish the installation on your Ameo (hit unlock and afterwards OK etc. somewhere on the screen, I can't remember if it will hard reset again), then
- do step 3 on the PC, the same upload and hard reset and waiting procedure as before.
Done! Now you should be able to use any SIM-card and update any unofficial ROM (v1.2 versions ONLY for the moment, BEWARE!).
Hope this helps for the start.
Sorry I lost track on you pthechemist but will seems to be doing a great job here, as long as you have spl1.20 already installed and follow the procedure, you are pretty safe although it can be a bit scary.
Good luck
Cheers for the help and support guys.
All is now running PERFECTLY!
Just in the process of finding some decent games to put on and get tomtom setup
Oh, while I think about it...
The guy who I bought the phone from had a customized home screen which I cannot seem to replicate, any chance it was a downloaded theme? if so, any recommendations?
Good work!
Ad TomTom: lookout for post#1 in this thread, the settings there did definately work with my TomTom7.
Ad skin (remember: 1.2 only with Olinex v1.20): I've been using MichyPrima's R5.1 for a while now, there is the big HTC home screen (black_vga) with this big watch (aka x7510). Another one is the Diamond skin. Just look around, there are multiple skins for tryout.
Hey Will,
Thanks for the info, will have a look around for skins
Hey Will,
Thanks for the info, will have a look around for skins
