It was unlocked and working perfect until the battery went completely dead and wasnt charged back up for a week. After pluging in the charger I was unable to do a complete charge as the pda keeps starting up. It runs for about a minute or two then restarts and boots back up, the cycle continues with no end. I got to work for about 10 ten minutes, the phone worked, the charger was active in the battery option menu, but then it started all over again. I've reflashed and changed roms. The amber charge light does appear. Also hard reset doesnt work. Please help, bought the phone used but only got to enjoy it for a day.!
It maybe the battery is banjaxed, I have seen similar behaviour with an ipaq and a defunct battery.
if not its board memory
if im right yourin big trouble u have to replace the whole main boards .. i hope im wrong it juist bthe battery.
good luck bro
Hi there,
I have a special question to my G4 witch i do not get in operation anymore: The Problem is, that the device does not turn on, independent any keys. Either the ON-Button, Soft-Reset, Hard-Reset i do not get any of the "normal" screens. The display does not light.
Additional, the red power-charge-LED does not light when i plug in the USB-poer-supply. The same, if i disassemble the battery and plug the G4 to the power-supply...
The device has not been used for a couple of months. The last action a Upgrade to WM6.5 that worked definitively fine for a while.
Has anybody an idea? Or happend before?
Thanks in advance
Ernie
i think it`s easy
hey .. i doubt you have a problem with your g4 phone, i think you have a problem with the battery. since you left the batter inside the phone for alot of months and you didn`t use it, i think the battery is super dead, so dead, that the g4 cant power off and go to charge mode. 1 : you could try letting it charge more, like .. 1 hr plugged in , orrr , you could find an universal charger, which charges the battery by touching it`s + and - with it`s pins and putting electricity in it. (sorry for the bad explanation but i`m from romania). I think one of them two should work, if you know some other friend who has a working g4 just try with his battery. Good luck ! ^_^
Thanks for your reply.
But it happens without (!) the battery: If disassemble the battery and connect afterwards the power cable, the red LED does not flash, and no key has a function. As Soft-Reset "switch" and Hard-Reset (2-button on the left plus Soft-Reset-Switch)
First i mentioned the same as you thought...
Has anybody an idea what can be done here?
Thanks in advance.
Ernie
I'm encountering this same problem. I let the device charge over night with no luck. It will not power on at all. The battery was working fine last week. its completely dead
My Universal turn on the red LED for a seconds and after that do not charge and do not turn on. Have you find any solutions?
Thanks
exactly the same problem here on touch 3g
i got my touch 3g in Jan 2009 in Shanghai,China. Now i'm in singapore.... it's bricked, i didn't do anything wrong, it's not dropped on the ground or into the water, yesterday it was fine, but this morning i just found that it's power off. plugging in the power cable , and i won't see the orange power led. it's completely dead, soft reset and hard reset can not be initiated, because it refuses to power on.
i'm going to htc care center at harbourFront next weekend ...

You’re in the wrong section this is the Wizard forum.
I use a universal charger. Its one which takes the battery not one which plugs into the phone ...
whenever I let my phone run flat I leave the battery in the charger for a couple of hours then put it back in the phone and connect the phone charger. Once there are enough electrons whizzing around in the battery there's enough power to drive the IC that manages the charging in the phone ...
if the battery is too flat it won't even open the gates for you ...
"It will not turn on. However, the green indicator LED light on the right front screen lights up when I press button or put the charger in;
he told me he was going to root it and put a new flash on it and said the battery died while flashing.
Ever since, I couldn't get it back to turn on. I read around and people said hard bricking is nearly impossible and this might be soft bricking."
I've been stolen my Atrix so I stopped following it, and I'd like to replace it....
Thanks
when my phone did that it was because it died fully and when i tried to turn it on or charge it with my computer it wouldnt let me . Until i plug it up to my wall , then it finally started charging . when i had hard bricked my phone , i would press the on button and it turned green but then it said error . maybe that will help you ?
Don't really know.
It's what the seller says.
I asked him what he has done to get that, still waiting for the answer...
Stupid thought: maybe the Power On button is broken?
he told me he was going to root it and put a new flash on it and said the battery died while flashing. Ever since, I couldn't get it back to turn on. I read around and people said hard bricking is nearly impossible and this might be soft bricking.
Here is his reply. So, what donc you guys think?

Get a different battery. If phone doesn't boot >> it's dead.
REAL hardbrick
I have hardbricked two Atrixes in less than 30 days. AT&T replaced both of them and never asked anything about me rooting or unlocking. I can't post links here yet, so google "Briefmobile unlock Atrix." That's the exact procedure I followed.
It worked at least two times. The other two times, it burned something inside the phone. It wouldn't turn on at all. I tried plugging it into a USB port, into the wall, and the LED didn't even come on. The guys at AT&T tried different batteries and none of the phones turned on. So I'm on my third Atrix in 30 days.

Yes, but i'need to be sure before buying the Atrix.
Would feel stupid if it really was a hardbrick since i would import from US to France...
And I Also have another battery... The Son of a B**** who stole my Atrix during my holidays didn't have the brain to steal chargers and extra battery while it was clearly sightable... Bitter laugh

My guess is that it's hard bricked. (In some hard brick cases phone won't turn on at all).
Don't you think the person selling it to you tried to do everything possible to fix it before offloading it for cheap?
If you need a cheap phone, get a used one, or a heavily used one. LOL.
What's good in paying ANY money for this phone if it doesn't work and most likely never will?
I had a similar issue after I took a swim with my Atrix It powered up fine after letting it sit for a few days, then I powered it off to put the sim card and memory card in, then plugged in the charger to the phone... It wouldn't come back on.. and a green light would come on when I would try to turn it on... I left it sitting charging for a few days, then 7 days after the swimming incident, right before I was going to buy another Atrix off of craigslist, I hit the power button and it came on! Been running like a scalded dog ever since..
Maybe you just need to plug it up to the wall charger for a few hours or over night... before doing so, I would recommend pullling the battery let it sit for a minute or two, then put the battery back in a hook it up to the wall outlet. Hope you get it figured out!
Hey all I was wondering if anyone could help me with my HTC Amaze. It stopped turning on maybe a month ago. I was sleeping and forgot to charge the phone so I woke up in the morning and put it on the charger and went back to sleep. When I woke up again there wasn't an LED light or anything. Eventually after messing around with it for a while the orange light would turn on for maybe 10 seconds then it would turn off and the phone would vibrate for a while and turn off too. I went on eBay and bought a new battery that came with an outlet charger. Waited a while then it finally came I charged the original battery as well as the new one. The phone still won't turn on, but now the orange LED light will stay on and after a while the green light will come on. I'm not tech savvy so I never rooted or unlocked my phone or whatnot I've just been using it normally since I've gotten it. I tried to make a claim from Asurion but they won't cover it without the deductible so I thought I'd try here before I just gave up and got a new one. If anyone can help please me please help. =)
There have been some posts of battery issues. Have you tried a different battery?
yep . i tried to charge the battery on the adapter and use the origional/new battery with no luck. :crying:
If it goes green, the battery says full charged, you're not telling us something.

Before when it first wouldn't turn on, when i tried to charge it, the orange light would come on for 10 seconds before turning off and vibrating periodically. Now the phone will act like it's charging (staying orange for a long time then turning green). But when I wait until it's green and try and turn it on no avail.

yea once but that was like 2 weeks ago before this started to happen. do u think it would be the digitizer or a part inside the phone ?

Something could've gotten loose and normal shaking in the weeks to follow probably finished the job getting it undone. Did you call your carrier or HTC about it?
Just tell them it randomly shut down after the ICS update and then eventually it stopped coming on or something, yes I know that's lying, but I don't think hardware is usually covered under warranty, unless it was faulty from the get go.
try removing the back cover and pressing the power button. the button on my back cover doesn't work as well as it used to, it'll power the screen on when it feels like it....must've come loose.

-Also, did you buy the phone new? And you said you didn't root/unlock? If you bought it used the person before you may have installed a custom recovery.
very weird i agree just call htc and say you phone got messed up doe to the ics ota update im sure they will replace it
Hello, i've a small Problem with my brand new Lumia 920...
yesterday i got it from postal service, after installing everything the battery got empty... ok no problem... pluged in the charger, i know from my HD7 that it could take a few minutes that the phones charges a bit before next boot...
but the lumia 920 didn't boot also not after about 1 hour on charger...
i just see the nokia messages then a small flicker line on the bottom of the screen and then it resets (i know it resets because the recognized devices, nokia bootloader and another one, by windows disapears)
and the "empty red" battery symbol apears with a charger sign when plugged in (whats normally be total normal) when trying to boot without charger then just the "empty red" battery symbol apears!!
when on charger, after the batterysymbol, i can see that the display isn't turning off, just showing black but has some light on it... definitly not that black when the phone is turned off completely...
yesterday i tried a few button combinations... plugin with volume down, shows a flash on the screen... after that the phones boots normally..
today i ran out again of battery, but now nothing helps...
anyone got this issue too?? any tip what i can try or do??
are you using the original charger?
The 920 needs high current charger in order to charge normally.
yeah i had this to about a week ago, just sit it on charge for a long long time with the stock charger. mine took probably 4-5 hours, then hit the on button and it came on (still saying it was flat, but turned on at least). havent had the issue since.
Edit: also, are you running stock rom? just wondering as im on flashed portico and i literally just saw another bloke with the portico update complaing of the same thing... which has me wondering if its firmware or something else..
Hello,
i guess i have the portico update allready...
my carrier released the phones 3 weeks ago...
i'm on 8.0.10211.204
1232.5951.1249.1002
i'm using of course the original charger that have come with the phone...
as it looks like it really takes many hours... so as yesterday on mine... i tried everthing... than i decided to let it alone... after watching TV the phone rings sometimes about a new message... !? wtf.... i will try next time when the battery rans out to just let it on the charger a few hours without trying to press some button combinations or disconnect and reconnect a few times ...
but i'm pretty sure this has something todo with that, that the screenlight is still on when on charger and this batterysymbol w charger icon apears or better said than disapears...
i thing the display still drains current and so the charge take longer to have the minium charge for boot... ?!
I have the same problem after I flashed it to portico
my phone still charging for 1 hour to start up & when it done the battery was 6%
ok, no i've changed my response, my phone went flat yesterday about 7am (perth time), its been on charge since, and no boot. (what am i up to? 27 hours?) ive tried different chargers (my Qi wireless charger, stock charger, random microusb charger), even tried different wall sockets. stressful....
Edit: sent back to nokia. apparently its bricked. also, holding the volume down button and plugging in the charger is meant to display an explanation mark while the phone is switched off. the person i spoke to at Nokia asked me to do this, but mine didnt display anything, thats when she decided it was bricked. i wonder if its anything to do with flashing the custom firmware... apart from this issue, the rom felt very stable.
