hi all
i have this weird problem in WM6 rom i have tried Prophet touch xb By Gullum and Vista Stylish rom...
the problem is that i have tomtom installed in my pda and when i turn my Jamin on everything works fine like the tomtom software works 100%. but if i leave the phone on idle for 2 hours and then start tomtom it says maps not found....
then i go to file explorer and check the storage card and in the map folder and all the files are there but there ar extra files there with "SQUARE" in front of them....
this problem is fixed by removing the memory card and re-inserting it....
also could this be because i am using a mmc card with an sd adapter ?

Sounds like the same problem I got with my prophet.
There is something like a timeout with the MemoryCard. If you put it out and in again before you start TomTom it will possibly work.
I also have the Problem, that the files are shown, but they are not there. To check this you have to go in one ore two sub folders and they will be empty.
I never found a solution for this problem and I have this since Prphet Touch VI.
Try to add this registry key [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\SDCARD\ClientDrivers\Class\MMC_Class]
"DisablePowerManagement"=dword:00000000
or download the file attached, change the extension to .reg and import it with a reg editor

and the problem went away
i think the Touch rom has the registry key above in it by default and hence fixes the problem...

Yep, it's an mmc
try with normal SD card,i think most mmc cards have problem with wm6.

This is really the only problem!
In the Prophet Touch roms the reason for sd-card works and mmc not is that the key exists in the registry for sd only.

Files and structures changed in 1.20. So if you just run the cab on your device . there will be some files left over from previous versions which didn't got overwrite. They may (or may not) cause problems.
BTW if you don't wanna hard-reset to clear all those files. You have to remove it manually before you install 1.20 cab.

Now, I've changed the store of picture and ringtone into my device ,not in SD card.
I have found problem in WM2003SE with SD card. Everytime, your device is off and suddenly turn-on ,SD-card cannot be detected.

CAB wont install, i was running it from the SD card. It tells me that the file is in ROM and cannot be installed.

Bcz the old IA CALLER ID is still running and you didn't delete it files that's why it's working with you.
First of all delete the IA caller Id shortcut from the \WINDOWS\Startup , reboot the ppc, then delete the files manually as it's posted before in this thread.

same problem with me IA_contact can not be replace, but when i copy it to my Extended ROM and run configurator to add it to my config, then hard reset it, it installed properly.
there are two downloads in this forum. Which one should i download? I have an unlocked o2 xda IIs in english.
one is WWE and the other is ITA. Guess :lol:
the WWE is World Wide English : ver 1.20, the other is an old Italian 1.0 I think
Im write small programm to unlock and unhide extended rom partition on Gene.
DO NOT USE IT ON OTHER DEVICES
USE IT ON OWN RISK
Copy programm on your Gene and run it.
After the message on success reboot your device.
You will have folder Extended_Rom2 in which it is possible to copy
files and which will be will remain at hard reset.
Total space in ExtRom - 10 MB.

within my GENE, there is no such key:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\StorageManager\AutoLoad\ondisk2]
the other key exists, the attribute value is:

what should I do?

Hey, this worked. I got Z_Card as the name of the new drive. As i am using my custom ROM with 4 MB of extrom, thats what i got but still its great!

Turn off your Gene
Hold both the softkeys and press the power button. Do not let go of the softkeys until you see a text prompt that says everything will be deleted, now get rid of the softkeys and press the call button.

Yes you still could have an choice to use your fone back in running condition
You can google the hp ipaq rw6815 Rom on xda forum you will found it then download the which can be installed by SD Card and do the further steps given below.
Step by step upgrade 68xx ROM via SD Card
Remember you should have fully charged battery !!!!!!!
1. Extract and copy diskimg.nb0 and cabs folder into a SD card (FAT32 and Blank SD Card are recommended, Kingstone MD-SD not recomended)
2. Press and hold 2 soft key( - ) and reset, Boot loader will show up.
3. Wait abut 10 ~ 20 Minutes
4. Align Screen, adjust time and date
5. Restart your 68xx

This is bugging the heck out of me.
On my WM 6.1 roms this fix is implemented but i have yet to see it in the smartphones. Is there a way?
I would like to keep an install cabs directory on my wife's micro sd but i can't seem to find a way to stop it from deleting the cabs after i install them.
(I may just not be wording my searching correctly but any help would be appreciated)
Mine stay put after install. Check your registry key named nDynamicDelete @ HKLM\Software\apps\Microsoft Application Installer\
Mine has a value of 2. You can also use CabInstl instead and have the option to select where to install and when to delete or not.

Thanks... I'll check tonight on her phone. Mine also do with WM6.1 PRO on my wizard, but hers do not with gnatgosplat's star trek wm6.1 rom.

Just make your cabs "read only" and then they won't get deleted. No registry edit required.

how to help when you're not specific about what the problem is? what do you mean by cannot install? what error msg is there? I'm using mapking on wm6.5 on a touch pro and it works fine.

My Mapking 2007 just hangs at the splashscreen. This is after I had upgraded from NAFT's 6.1to 6.5 (NRGZ28). Subsequent downgrades to NAFT's 6.1 and then upgrade to other chef's 6.5 led to me thinking..i need HTC HD2.
if you run a check on the official website MK2007 and MKR12 are temporarily not supported on WM6.5. So even if you get urself a HD2 it doesn't solve the problem you're facing. If you really need MapKing, go back to WM6.1
just in case u'r wondering when will it be supported, you have to ask MapKing developers only they have the answer. My guess is there will be a new version of MapKing for WM6.5
Oh... no wonder I can't seem to get MapKing working on my more recent ROMs. But thought I had it working just a while ago (and I was also on a WM6.5 ROM then). Unless it's only with regards to specific builds.
I am using HD 2 and I am also using mapking 2007 on my device.
in fact, i havce mapking 2007 also on my blackstone which is also running on 6.5
I am using Asus P535 with WM6.5 28005 and MapKing 2007, both work fine

Don't think that's the case for me. My MapKing's installed in 'Program Files\MapAsia\MapKing2007'. Doesn't exceed 128 characters.
Thing is I always get stuck at the splash screen.
Perhaps it's really with regards to some builds of WM6.5 since it works for some of you.

I think you don't get what I am trying to say..
Is there any file that exists in any deep directory?
For example..
\Program Files\Folder 1\Folder 2\Folder 3\Folder 4\Folder 5\Folder 6\file name...
As long as there's a file in any folder or folders that has a path name longer than 128 characters, Mapking won't work..
May I propose something..
Try to install Mapking in different location.
If you installed in device, and Mapking cannot work, try to install in Storage Card..
Or if you installed in Storage Card, try to install in device..

Uh, your 'any file' meaning any file belonging to MapKing? Or just any file in the entire phone? Cos if it's just any file belonging to MapKing, I don't think there's any that exists in a deep directory. But anyway, I'll try installing in Storage Card (since I installed in Device (though all along I've been installing in Device and it was working ok)).
Basically Mapking will search only in either 1 of the 2 places.
If it was installed in the device's memory, it will only search there.
If it was installed in the Storage Card, it will therefore search the Storage card.
Any file, not necessarily belong to Mapking.
For example, if Mapking was installed in the device's memory..and inside the device's memory have such a file with a path name more than 128 characters..
\Program Files\Ancient Literatures from the past\Best literature for leisure reading\My favourite author\This book definitely must be read\The best text that you must ever read\This text file is really very long to read.txt

Hey you're right! Installed it to my main microSD but it still didn't work. Then tried installing it into a spare microSD (that didn't contain any other files) and it works! Think for Device itself it might be due to the additional files from TF3D while for my main microSD, it might be due to my MP3s (cos they're stored in sub-folders). Now gotta figure out a workaround for this (cos I can't be using a separate microSD just for the MapKing).

Maybe you can just rename the folders or the files..
Anyway 128 characters for path name is quite enough..
Now if only there was an application that could help list down the directories/files that exceeded 128 characters...

If you installed in your main Storage Card, maybe you can use a card reader to copy all the things to your desktop pc.
Then with the Mapking installed in that main Storage card, slowly delete 1 folder by 1 folder. Until the Mapking can work.
Then you will know, which is the culprit. After that, just rename that file to another name..
