I have a M600 IPL 2.10.0001, SPL 2.10.0001 Current Rom 2.10.1.22WWE, Radio Ver 02.07.20 Protocol 413.1.03. I am trying to update my OS to WM6 using the roms i have found within this amazing site but with no joy, so far all i have been able to do is flash rome back to the original rom of device but without all the M600 spec (like the on screen orientation etc) but i have however been able to add these via cab files which i downloaded with the orange shipping rom but again i was unable to flash the rom also included via the usb update utility as i had done earlier - it seems like every time i try and flash a new rom using either the old or new way as followed exactly i get an error message on my pc and my m600 reverts back to bootloader mode (pretty 3 colour screen) Please please any ideas welcome

Just to let you know i have even tried locating ruu file and running as admin as i have had suggested from one of our american friends and still no joy - i will save files to disk and load from another machine with xP for now but if any news breaks re vista please keep me posted - cheers

I recently purchased a SPV M3100 after reading many great reviews on this device.
I have just unlocked it using the HTC Hermes SIM & CID unlocker v3a using my old Windows XP laptop and it works great (I've tried using my Vista ultimate 64 computer earlier it didn't work).
I am now interested in upgrading my SPV M3100 to latest software available from Orange or the WM6 roms available on this site like Black Dymond, really keen in seeing its potential.
I have read through the Hermes upgrading forums carefully and made sure all is done properly. I have even read through the Mr Vanx step guides in upgrading.
First I decided to use the Orange update from their website.
After making sure the USB cables are connected correctly and allowing the WMDC to sync I proceeded to run the update.
I followed each step and tick the boxes. The phone goes into the tricolour mode or bootloader screen with the following on the screen:
Herm100
IPL-1.01
Herm100
SPL-1.40
On the computer, the window 'verifying your device' is on for few minutes, after this a new window appears indicating: ERROR 260 - update error
This happens again and again, day after day, I have soft reset the device, rebooted the computer, tried both the XP and vista computers, check the usb cable and connections, did everything that is said in the forums, but nothing....
I have even attempted to use the HardSPL program and followed the process to load the black dymond, but same message appears.
Must note that after soft resetting the device the phone returns to its original state, so no harm done. but no upgrade....... Damm...
Help... Any ideas ...... Please....

I thought when I originally installed the WMDC was the latest version as I have downloaded it from the Microsoft windows mobile website....
I have downloaded the appropiate Vista 64 version for my vista machine and the appropiate xp version for my xp laptop...

Could that be something with the area code?

For XP should you not be using ActiveSync 4.5?
I re-flahed my M3100. The first attempt it failed, it then recovered itself and the second attemp was successful.
Im sure I have, just downloaded the other day, anyway I have downloaded it again just now, installed it, connected my phone and allowed the sync process to complete. I run the orange update again and still the same message..... Error 260: update error
What SPL version do you have?
To check press and hold BOTH the side ok button and the power button, then insert the stylus into the hole in the bottom of the device.

So i take it you havent read or searched on this error, the orange RUU cannot recognise your device because you have anewer SPL version (HardSPL)...ffs dude had you told us that fact it would have saved you PLENTY of time. You posted you had SPL version 1.40...................you SHOULD have said you have already updated to HArdSPL (1.40.olipro)

Yes, I'm new here, but not new to phones or computers by any means - trust me.
In any case, what happened was I downloaded the XDA Live version of Windows Mobile 6 for my Hermes (originally Rogers branded) and installed it.
Then, I discovered the actual forum here, and saw Schaps' version of WM6 pro and I want that badly. Regardless of which version I'm trying to upgrade to, I get the same issue.
Here it is:
When I connect the phone normally with ActiveSync and try to upgrade to Schaps' ROM (or Dutty's, or the official one, or the T-Mobile one, or the Qtek one, anything), I get a 260 error saying that my USB cable isn't properly connected. Now I've seen and tried the fixes for that error with no luck. The other error I occasionally get is one saying that my device code isn't correct or something or other. And another one is that my image file is corrupt and that I should check my update utility.
What do I do?
ANY HELP would be greatly appreciated!

I had the same problem.
I then upgraded the boot loader with hard-SPL:

I successfully upgraded to SPL-1.10, with the same result (no change).
I'm really unsure of what's going on with this...but I really need to upgrade to Schaps' TouchFLO ROM - and should be able to easily...
When you upgrade the rom, chose hard-spl (safe).

no problems running it from my laptop that has windows xp.

mhh... but i solved the problem with vista by using the OLD method
i am confused. i have the usb driver of Active Sync 4 (for win XP) and only with this new USBAS i am able to Flash the rom.
I FLASHED the rom, so it cant be win Vista, or is it because of a command in bat file?

The problem is the RUU, there isn't a Prophet RUUthat can be used with Vista. HTC didn't develloped one since they didn't release an upgrade in the "Vista age" for Prophet.
So, with the change of the drivers wich you did, you can connect at USB-level and flash the "old-style". But until someone modiefies a Vista-RUU suitable for Prophet, the "new-style" won't work.
There is a Vista-RUU circulating, but it only serves G3, it will give an error when used with a G4. you will find it here: post #14 Don't mind is doesn't show a Prophet. The modifier just didn't change the image.

Good question, but I don't have an answer. I am sure it can be done (red about it somewhere, I think in the hypercore-thread) but I don't know how.
BTW: the RUU is only the Rom Upgrade Utility, it is the nk.nbf that contains the actual Rom Upgrade, so that's the one to be converted.
Hello, I am in serious trouble! I got a brand new HTC Athena with Windows Mobile 5.0. I succesfully upgrade it to Windows Mobile 6.0.
All was OK.
Than I was interested to move into Windows Mobile 6.1 and possibly 6.5. At first I did the Athena unlock (3 step process) and all went OK: Antenna 1.5.0, SPL 1.2 OLI....
THAN I DID MY ERROR! I try to upgrade my 6.0 ROM with the Micky 6.1 cooked file with SPL 3.5. After a 92 percent upgrade, the ROM crashed and now I always get a nasty black screen with few lines (No 3 color bands!). When I try to upgrade again the same ROM or ROM for SPL 1.2 I get an error (ID mismatching). I guess the only solution is a hard and full reset of the Windows. But doing only a hard reset with the PDA will NOT change my error message and I will keep see this nasty black screen and I cannot load the Windows ActiveSync application-
I am totally lost. Help please. Any tool for a true full restore/recover??? (I did NOT make any backup!).

In my case my HTC Athena crashed the Windows 6 ROM while I was attempting to upgrade, after unlocking the phone, the Athena from version 6.0 to version 6.1

this is also to repair your bootloader-infos
if you look at your bootloaderscreen, you will see ATHE100, IPL, ATHE100, SPL. if not, you have to repair it
make sure you flashed the right rom, spl 1 or 3.5

yes use that link, post #33. fixes both wifi and modelid problems and bootloader problems when you got stuck at 92% of the flashing process.
Cannot re flash ROM
Please help! I tried the unlocker and it failed at 92% and since then I have no WM6. Then I tried to flash the Michy WM6.5 and that failed. I was getting model id errors so I did the mtty and mac1 fix which was succesful. However all I can get now is a grey screen on boot-up. I can get to the bootloader screen and it displays ATHE100, IPL-v2.02, ATHE100, SPL-v1.20. Olipro. From what I have read on the forum at this stage I should run a RUU to flash a WM6 ROM but all that I try can't connect because no OS running to connect with Activesync? Is there a way to flash from the bootloader? The other option seems to be putting an image and flasher on a miniSD but I can't find clear instructions for this or which files?
Please ignore - my battery wasn't charged enough. Replaced battery and recovered device.

first, how can I get the mac address of my device? It is NOT written anywhere in the Athena parts (checked in the battery bay and so on.....), and so when I run mtty i am in trouble! I have used a mac address got from my company's manager, but not sure it is ok to use it with the Athena!

Can you tell what you've actually done after you've changed ROM with Mtty?
I done the thing with Mtty but just as you described when I reset it now I still get the grey screen. And if I try to update ROM it fails again on 92%
where did you find the upgrade from wm5 to wm6?

I'm quite new to all this flashing stuff and spent the last week trying to figure this out but it seems I'm missing something.
I've got a O2 xda star (niki300) phone with a 1.58.16.27 radio (i think) and spl 1.16. I wanted to install a new rom and choose the Salvy.C83 V3.3 3g 20 Keys since it seemed to be one of the newest(correct me if I'm wrong).
It says that hardspl and a 1.65 radio is needed so i downloaded hardspl1.22-nike-shipped and the official rom linked in the wiki where the 1.65 radio seems to be included.
-I connect my phone (without sim and sd)
-and run the Nike CustomRUU
-It's starts quite normal but when the progress bar is shown (at 0% to be exact) I get to hear the disconnecting and connecting sounds of windows and some moments later the setup is aborted because of connection issues.
This problem occurs everytime at the exact same moment so I guess it can't be a broken cable...
I'd be very glad if you could tell me what I'm doing wrong or at least share some ideas of what I could try with me

you'd better try again to update the Hard SPL and use HardSPL v.1.15 ~ http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=355730
with hard SPL that you can flash any rom and make CID, Security Unlocker too

I run this UpdateRomUtility from flash-uspl but it gives me the same connection error (i think it lost connection as the phone went into 4 color mode, but I could be wrong)
Or is there another way to install this?
are you sure have followed all the directions given jockyw ??
What OS are you using on your computer??
have you deactivated anti- virus program or firewall on the PC before doing the flash HardSPL ??

It goes in color - mode then USB is written on the screen ->I unplug and replug my usb cable->nothing changes. Running the Romupdateutility doesn't work because it says it isn't connected.

will test again with antivir also deactivated
