Hi Y'all... Need some major help here. Just got a charmer (T-Mob Compact 2) to supplement my i600.Happy with it but been trying to upgrade it to TouchFlo Charmer ver 2.1 WM6. I understand it needs IPL/SPL 2.xx or higher. I am currently running it on ipl/SPL 1.12 I have tried upgrading it to 2.xx before the WM6 upgrade but all the rome upgrades bring up the same error 302 [Update error] - The rom update utility has encountered communication errors during the update process...etc etc. This then leads me to recovery (as it is stuck in bootloader mode) by battery removal. Recovery occurs easily no problem. I have carried out rom/WM6 flashes before on Artemis,trinity's,wizards,varios and prophets before so not a complete novice but just cant get my head around this one.
Any help to get my charmer running A1 on touchflo would be much appreciated please.

Please excuse my ignorance on this issue but I am new to WM.
I have a vodafone V1605 with WM5 on it, I have obtained the official HTC TyTN WM6 ROM.
1. Can I flash the ROM to WM6 on this device?
2. I have backed up the device and saved the VF settings (MMS, web etc) is there anything else I should do before I attempt to do this?
3. What is the potential the brick the device if something goes wrong? / What issues may I need to be aware of to stop me bricking the device?

v1605 cant upgrade
I have a similar situation but dont know how to back up the Vodafone settings. How do you do that? I tried installing the update but as I have read since this will not work on a Vodafone handset. Not too sure exactly what to do or if its a risky move to try...
Any help would be great.

Don't do anything if you are not sure.
It took me about 14 days before I even dared to upgrade my radio. Then after a few days I upgrade my OS.
Now I'm almost flashing after 2 or 3 days a new or enhanced version of OS trying out and testing.
It's a fun hobby but read carefully!

That doesn't sound good. Tell us when you've found one that works properly.
V1605 Upgraded
I have upgraded my V1605 using the HTC official ROM.
Use the WIKI - it has loads of useful hints and tips!
I did unlock my device using the Hermes unlocker first (if you follow the instructions this is pretty straight forward).
I then applied the ROM update and it worked without any issues.
To complete I used the HTC operator setup tool to put my Vodafone settings back on the device (MMS, WAP, Web etc).
I now have a WM6 V1605.
So do review the WIKI as I am sure many people state, but after a few days reading and a decision whether to unlock or use HardSPL it is pretty straight forward.
I've update the 1605 few weeks ago without problems.
Follow the wiki and read some thread before, justo to understan what are you doing.
No particular problem in all the procedure.
Now I have superCID, SHAPS ROM 3.54b, and 1.50 radio.
The brik goes faster and much better.

For Users of Vodafone v1605: There is no official upgrade from Vodafone.
This is my current configuration: HTC WM6 official
ROM Version: 3.54.255.3
ROM Date: 07/05/2007
Radio Version: 1.48.00.10
Protocol version: 32.81.7020.20H
ExtRom version: 3.54.255.104
For Vodafone v1605: running official Vodafone WM5
Official HTC Caution:
1.Upgrading the ROM Code erases all of personal data and custom-installed applications from the device. Make sure all of your personal information and data are backed up to your PC via ActiveSync or Windows Mobile Device Center. After updating the ROM, copy the data back to your mobile device and reinstall your applications.
2.Third-party applications may have compatibility issues with Windows Mobile® 6. Please consult with the software developer(s) before upgrading to Windows Mobile® 6.
3.Make sure the remaining battery power is above 50% before performing a ROM upgrade.
4.Before upgrading the ROM, remove the microSD memory card from your device.
5.Do not disconnect the USB cable or start other applications on your PC while the ROM upgrade program is running. Doing so may cause the upgrade program to fail. In the worst situation, your mobile device may fail to boot.
6.The entire ROM upgrade installation process takes about 15-20 minutes. Please wait patiently.
7.When the upgrade has completed, the mobile device will reboot and start installation of certain components automatically. This takes about 3-5 minutes.
8.If you are not familiar with these operations or if you don’t know how to work with your PC, please visit your distributor or contact us for assistance.

• See that your bootloader reads
IPL: 1.04 SPL: 2.30.Olipro
• Your Windows XP should have Microsoft .Net ver 2.0+
• Write down all the MMS, GPRS, servers and portals details, Backup all the contacts and stuff you want.
• Remove the MicroSD card. (Don’t know why)
• Run the HTC TyTn ___108.exe file
• Voila. The v1605 boots to WM6 official HTC version.
• Everything is upgraded. Even the radio to 1.48.00.10 version. No need for separate upgrade.

i have a pda v1605 vodafone italy ipl 1.01 spl 1.09.so i want install wm6 ( hmm..wm5.2) cause i want my mobile faster and more fresh look..eheh..my question is: do i need install bl first using hardspl7 or can i proceed with the installation of an official vf rom ita??
of course i don't want lose my warranty...
what kind of bl i need? of course i want downgrade in case of assistance need.

Just to confirm, I have a Vodafone 1605 with 2.30 bootloader. My steps to upgrade were:
1. For neatness I hard reset
2. Sync with Activesync
3. Flash to that latest HardSPL (V7)
4. Flash to Mobile 6 using the HTC release HTC_TYTN_WWE_3.54.255.3_6275_1.48.0.0.10_108.exe
5. It worked

Hello all,
unfortunately, my prophet has been broken by the well known ROM update SPL 3.08. The exact name of this file is: Jesterzs_Aku2.20_with_3.08IPL_and_2.20SPL_ONLY_FOR _G4_
So the current situation is:
IPL 2.09
SPL 3.08.0001
I am looking for a solution. The ideal one would be:
upgrading again with a valid SPL but greater version number (such 3.09).
The second step is to unlock the CID (No problem for that),
and finally downgrading everything to ROM 2.20 (Easy).
By now, I create a modified 2.20 SPL to 3.09. Please check attached.
But the ROM update seems to not work. Indeed at the end of the operation, the prophet shows a wonderful screen with degraded green and the following words:
IPL 2.09
SPL 3.08.0001So, I can conclude that the first step is not sucessfull.
When the ROMUpdateUtility_G4.exe check the version number, the version of the prophet seems to be empty...
Does anyone have any idea?

well, what can you do with a prophet upgraded to 3.08? nothing.
my problem would be dissambling the SPL and IPL for changing the version.
Modifying directly the binary doesn't work.

Hey, i recently purchased a HTC Prophet (branded SPV M600 from orange) from a friend.
Since then i managed to get a WM6.1 rom on (shadow 2 i think)
Anyway, back when i did this, i found it very hard.
My prophet is not hardspl'd and i've having trouble changing the rom.
In my effort to change it, i 'bricked' it, however recovered it using one of those WM5 roms.
So my details:
IPL 2.20.0001
SPL 2.10.0001
GSM 02.07.20
Currently i'm running a WM5 rom, however i have managed a WM6.1 rom before, but cannot seem to do it again, whenever i get it installed it just boots to the bootloader.
When trying to HardSPL it just gives generic cannot connect errors.
I've used Prophet Tools aswell as manual guides but to no avail.
Am i doing something wrong?
And btw i'm using WinXP

Hey, turns out i wasn't following instructions properly - probably due to my tiredness!
I wasn't pressing the camera button on white screen... DOH!

Help, my athena problem when i want to upgrade from spl 1.2 to 3.5 using michy, for your information mine is spl 1.2 but when i upgrade using michy r4.1 spl 3.5 but after i flash at 95% it say error afterthat i reset my athena and i want to install spl 1.2 r4.1 michy is run until 1% then it restart and it happen everytime i click ROMUpdateUtility.exe for michy r4.1 spl 1.2 then it restart after 1%

You need to install AP4 to upgrade to SPL 3.5
But you must have a working rom installed
Try installing AP3 from the bootloader
If you don't know what this means , I suggest you read the AP4 upgrade threads and the wiki,
though I have to admit your problem is not specifically addressed in the wiki.

for the MTTY process, i need to have the MAC address of my athena.
how can i get it in this situation?
is it printed on my mobile, or do it comes in the booklets?
help me out kindly, so that i can start playing outside like the other childs.

Hello everyone.
I've problem while unlocking my Herm(MDA Vario II form Era). I downloaded Unlock_v3a prom forum. SPL updated succesfully to 1.40 Olipro byt while installing Radio it stuck on 0%. Then i have only bootloader screen and I install WM 6 wersion of operator (but without Radio etc because when i tried install full it stuck on 12% - radio install). Anyone have some idea what's wrong?
Maybe it is SPL case?

Ok i want to refresh my Thread. I was reading many articles about Hermes and my case now is like that.
My Radio is working i can talking by PDA but only with cards of it's operator, when i'm trying install Radio installation stops on 0% i try to install 1.14, 1.18 Radio but always with the same result.
My IPL is 1.01
SPL is 1.40 Olipro
Radio ver. 1.05.02.00
Running on WM 6
