i am using an at&t 8525 that is currently running Schap's 4.20, Radio 1.41.00.10 and i would like to downgrade my phone back to the original Windows Mobile 6 Rom. is this possible and if so how?
You can change to any ROM you want to. If you want to downgrade SPL, then read 4th sticky in the forum...

i read that and if you read the NOTE it says, "If your radio version is currently HIGHER than 1.27.00.00 then it is very likely the radio bootloader is version 0108, this WILL NOT allow the radio to be downgraded to a radio containing BL 0106 and will result in a "NO GSM" error." the last thing i want it to have a phone with no signal, but thank you for he reply. Anybody else have an idea?
Thanks a lot, this guide is very helping

Hi guys,
sorry if this seems a silly question, but I really looked to see if I could find any info on this...but I might be just bad at searching?
Anyway, with the apologies behind us, here goes:
Is there any way to know (either from the version number or by any of you telling me) which AKU version the ROMS posted here have?
I currently have AKU 2.3 (in my 1.18.255.3 ROM, date 05/30/06, radio 1.03.03.10, 1.04 bootloader QTEK_001 CID) and am considering upgrading.
Do any of these roms contain a newer AKU version? If so, which?
As long as I have your attention anyway: I've been reading a lot on upgrading on this (GREAT) forum, but it's slightly confusing: Am I correct in assuming that if I SUPER-CID my Hermes and flash it with a newer ROM with bootloader 1.09, that I can always go back to bootloader 1.04? Or is it that once I load 1.09 then I'm stuck with it?

See here:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades
The column named "OS Build":
- if it ends in 2.3.0 means it's an AKU 2.3
- if it ends in 2.6.0 means it's an AKU 2.6 (currently only cingular's 1.31 rom)

By now, If you flash 1.09 you're stuck with it unless you use some "illegal" files that where removed from this forum some time ago. I am working on a new solution to downgrade, but is not ready yet...
Has anyone compared the 1.31 (aku2.6) and 1.35(aku2.3) roms yet? Any differences in speed or handling?
Hey thanks pof!
Ok in hindsight it seems logical to look at the build date for the AKU but I really overlooked that...DOH!
So I guess the best thing for the moment would be to wait for either a AKU 3.2 ROM or a way to revert bootloader 1.09 to 1.04.
As far as I understand it now: If I flash this Cingular AKU 2.6 ROM now I will get bootloader 1.09 and therefore I won't be able to upgrade to a AKU 3.2 ROM unless it happens to be a AKU 3.2 ROM with the same CID (from Cingular in this case, because that's the only AKU 2.6 ROM)
Check?
Not necessarily, you could CID-unlock your phone first.
so you mean that if I CID unlock my phone first, then flash it to a new ROM with bootloader 1.09, that it would still be possible to flash it back to some ROM with bootloader 1.04?
That is possible, but not directly. After upgrading to a rom with 1.09, you have to downgrade the bootloader to 1.04 via this method. After that you can flash any rom you want, or upgrade your radio-rom only, as i did.

Wait, I thought even the imei-check method did NOT work on Bootloader 1.09. The Cingular ROM 1.34 is Bootloader 1.06 - so it should work there, but I thought NOT on Bootloader 1.09.
Am I confused?

Yes, if and only if you CID Unlock first you'll be able to flash ANY rom with bootloader 1.04 when you are on 1.09, BUT after the update the bootloader version will still be 1.09.

This is only needed if you want to go back to bootloader 1.04, but not really necessary if you are happy with 1.09.

Ok, I think I got the radio rom issue confused with the bootloader - since they showed up in the same bulk pack upgrader.
Thanks for the clairification!

I couldn't upgrade my radio rom with 1.09, after downgrading to 1.04 i could.
I have the 8525, installed obviously is the newer ROM, but 2.3 AKU. Is the other ROM/AKU 2.6 package worth trying? I know there were only few updates w/2.6, why did they go back to 2.3 with the newer ROM?

Tried a few different ROMs on mine. Have found that the new 1.35 HTC South African ROM seems to work the best for me.
Thread is here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284043&page=3
Post #26 has a nice comparison table compared to other ROMs, well worth a look.
S.K.
Thaks for the advice. I have upgraed to this ROM.
How do I set up the phone for data connections now that I am using this ROM? Do I have to set up manually? I triede unlocking and replacing the extended ROM w/Cingulars, but it didn't set up the 3g connection for me. I had to do it manually. Did I miss a few files? I'd hate to have to google the settings every time I hard reset...
Im not concerned bout getting the original radio but just want to go back to the original rom. I have installed LVSW's version of WM6 and is running into some things that I rather not mess with as far as bugs and all. Now can I just DL the ROm and be straight TIA
I assume you havent read my WM5 Downgrade guide then?

Thanks for the tip. I'll get to reading some more. Appreciate it.
I did one recently using the most recent AT&T WM5 version. Using SSPL to downgrade, I was also able to change IPL/SPL back to stock versions.
Total Downgrade from WM6 to WM5
Sleuth255,
Just wanted to ensure I understood your process in downgrading from a WM6 rom to a WM5 rom.
Scenario: I am currently using Custel's 2.5(WM6) with radio 1.40, IPL 1.04 SSPL 2.10 Olipro.........
I wish to down grade to the "Stock" Cingular 1.34, with the stock radio 1.3xx
If my thinking is correct, I should be able to run SSPL 1.10 (Olipro) and then flash the WWE ship.exe for the 1.34 which will put the stock IPL/SSPL on the device.........
Am I out in left field with a football uniform on, or is the goal line reachable?????
Thanks,
vpu2....OUT!!!!
follow mrvanx's guide. It shows how to do everything. I went from the 1.41 radio, the 2.1oli spl, and dutty's rom back to a 100% stock phone that was capable of being flashed by the file that you can get from HTC's website... i did all of this using Mrvanx's guide (and the search function)... this link may help a little as well: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=301219&highlight=downgrade+the+SPL
I just upgraded my X01HT to WM6 JPN rom and did SIM-unlock as in POF's guide.
Now, the radio version of my phone is 1.16.00.00, so will I still get SIM-unlock if I upgrade Radio ROM to 1.41 ?
And by the way, would someone please explain how radio rom is different from radio bootloader? I'm quite confused about them.
Thank you for reading the questions

I already found the answer to my first question here
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_UpgradeFAQ
any simple steps to downgrade 2.47 radio of nvid wm5 to 2.19 or lower for people having trouble with 2.69 in canada
Sure, check out the FTP. The Radio Roms are there, I am not too sure but you might have to hard reset after the change ...
no need to hard reset after..
and also no need to hard or soft reset before the operation.
connect your ppc to pc with usb cable, active sync connection status does not matter, just run the radio rom upgrade utility.
you can download it from:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Uploads/Prophet/Prophet-roms/Radio_ROMs/
Prophet_G3_G4_RadioRom_v2.47.21.exe

this is what i am asking too ,clarification is needed to downgrade from 2.47 Nvid to 2.19 for canadian radio to function properly ,if clarification will be confirmed then only we would proceed else no use in spoiling the handset.
Whatever radio rom you use, you can upgrade or downgrade by using the appropriate *.exe file. Downgrade or upgrade is the same thing. The radio rom version is not dependent to the WM6 ROM. You can change among them easily. I mean, if a radio rom is not suitable because of your mobile operator or another thing, you can change to another one and another one..

Yu can safely flash a separate radioROM without reflashing your OS. It is a different cup of tea. So don't downgrade before. Succes!
Hi there, i'm asking myself if it is possible to downgrade my XDAII (BL 1.06) from WM2003SE/WM06 to WM2003 1.72 . May be someone knows? Thanks to you all
Yes, it can be done, I have done this once with my own Hima. You can also upgrade/downgrade the Radio ROM. Just make sure the Windows ROM and Radio ROM match. For WM 2003 1.72 you need Radio ROM 1.17.

Great! And, is it necessary to have this match also in upgrading? For any SO?
