Reminder issues - Advantage X7500, MDA Ameo ROM Development

I've got PK3 Dual installed - and have had since it came out - but recently I've been having issues with notifications and ringtones. I have no problems with those notifications set as WAVs, but if I try a WMA sound I get nothing. The same with ringtones, MP3 seems OK now, but WMA doesn't work. Some won't play at all, selecting others results in a message box that the file is corrupted - but it isn't. It plays fine in Windows Media.
At one point I thought it was down to file associations with other players. At that point I was having issues with both MP3 and WMA sounds, and no other software was associated, although they had been. I renebaled MP3 and WMA in CorePlayer, quit, ran again and disabled them then soft reset and MP3 sounds started working, but not WMA. Then I went to TCPMP and did the same for WMA only. At first, that worked - suddenly WMAs worked again so I set a WMA sound as my main reminder. Then I went into phone options and tried to set a WMA ringtone, but it wouldn't and now the WMA reminders don't work anymore either. I didn't run TCPMP in the meantime, but did try Windows Media to test a couple of the WMA files that wouldn't work as ringtones.
I'm stumped - I've even looked through the registry and not seen anything amiss other than WMAs have an EventHandler subfolder in HKCU and WAVs don't.
What's most annoying is that I got it working and then literally two minutes later it didn't.
Anyone able to shed some light on this? If not, I'll have to try a hard reset. Either that or change all my sounds to WAVs and MP3s.

HELP

hello all i got my phone today.
How can i put my own ringtones on it.
I am not sure of the file types i need or anything. I dont even know where to go to select what tone i want. please help
if you want to use ringtones for specific contacts (e.g. a sound will play and when you hear it you'll know it's from your friend joe) then you'll need third party software such as ringtonex (mtux). ain't free though; i forgot how much i paid for it but i've been using the app back when i started with my xda1. still using it up to now. like the ringtone i use for my boss is the pacman sound when he dies...
for ringtone types; wav files are the ones you need...however you can also use midi and wma if i remember. if your unit is on activesync with your pc; simply copy and paste the wav file you want into the xda's windows folder. this will allow the ringtone to be used by other apps such as alarms or sms notification. or you can also paste it in the window's "rings" folder where the phone will automatically recognize the file as being a ring tone option. then just go to settings for the phone and click on that file you want to use.
hope that helps.
thanx a million worked like a charm
hey its not finding wma files though
i read somewhere in the forum that you can use wma files as ringtones...just don't know how to do them and never really tried. not sure about this but most wma files i know are associated with mp3s as well. wma is a lower quality sound alternative to mp3s; i have wma files for songs and they range from 800-900kb as oposed to 3+ meg mp3 song files. so the way i see it (and i could be wrong about this) to use a wma file the xda would have to be able to get it from the memory or the storage card (?). but that would mean having a wma ring tone which is around 900kb in size...something that you don't really need coz eventually you will answer the phone after like 10 seconds. so no point in having the whole song as a ringtone really since you won't get to hear it to the end. that is if the other chaps in the forum are doing something different that is wayyyy easier than i really think it is
what i did was record bits of a song i have on storage; then use that as my ringtone. example; i have an mp3 of fernanda porto and i like the opening sequence. what i did was use my notes app; ran the song through media player and when the part i liked came i then recorded it. the file is in wav so it was easy to use it as a ringtone....
cheers
it need to be 2003 before it can use wma
they need to be put in windows\rings
you then add them with the program called add ringtones
in settings
ahh i dont have 2003, i was told 2003 is better not to have cause it messes up alot or something i dunno.

MP3 Ringtones Not Working. Pocket DivX is the problem

Have been most annoyed with this, have downloaded the EnglishMP3SetRingtone.CAB but it still wasn't allowing me to use MP3 files.
Did a hard reset, loaded the EnglishMP3SetRingtone.CAB & it worked fine. Reloaded software one by one & when I got to Pocket DivX it stopped playing MP3s again. Uninstalled DivX but couldn't get it to work again.
Now when I installed DivX i allowed it to assign itself to mp3 files, maybe that was the problem.
I tried removing & re-installing EnglishMP3SetRingtone.CAB but the only way to get it back again was to hard reset.
So this might be the problem for some of you others, or maybe it's various media player that try to associate themselves with mp3s? Be interested to know of any other experiances here now you know what to look for.

Problem with sound...not playing WAV files...?

I got MP3 ringtones working ok.
But when I convert a small part of an MP3 to WAV for the new text message sound, I can choose it from the list no problem, but when I preview it I can hear anything. Also if I try to play it in WM5 media player, it says "NO COMBINATION OF INTERMEDIATE FILTERS COULD BE FOUND TO MAKE THE CONNECTION"
What the hell does that mean? I made the WAv 8-bit, MONO, 22,000.
Any ideas?
Thanks

playing .qcp audio files?

I was wondering if anyone knows how to restore the ability to play an MMS message with an audio file attached to it with the extension of .qcp....
I know I can do a hard reset, but I'd rather not do that.... I have uninstalled and re-installed GC's MMS cab, uninstalled all youtube players and reinstalled. Uninstalled anything I thought might have conflicted with any audio setting.... nothing has worked so far.....
Thanks
Az
OK - It seems that I cannot play .qcp files on DCD3.3.4 (nothing installed but the rom, not even the carrier cab), but it does play on DCD 3.2.6 in the same condition( nothing installed).....
DCD, any ideas what is causing this issue???
There are two main ways to successfully play QCP files: one way is to find a QCP player like PureVoice Player from Qualcomm; another way is to convert QCP to more popular audio format like MP3, WAV, WMA, AC3, M4A and etc.

[Q] doubletwist wont play headset beeps indicaters, hardware issue?

Recently I switch from useing a Samsung galaxy player 4.0 as a pmp to a Droid x2, and was suprised to find that my favorite feature of my favorite music player was not working. In Doubletwist when you use the headset to play/pause skip forward/back and shufle an indicator beep of different tone plays to let you know it got the message. With the X2 thought only the shuffle tone seemed to work. I tracked it down to the fact that the mp3 files that are actually played by the app are to short (under 10 milliseconds) or to small (around 1Kb) to register. Found this out by extracting the doubletwist apk and trying to play the mp3 directly, the shuffle tone being longest played fine (20milisecond 2.4Kb). Any one have an suggestions on how to fix this? I have tried extracting then replacing the files with ones that will play, and rebuilding, but the final result crashes on startup.
FIXED IT
Alright I fixed the issue. After some experimintation, with APKmultiTool, I found that if I extracted the apk then make the modifications, and then zipped the apk again, at the highest comppression (9), then signed it, it would install but crash on launch. It still did not seem to want to work at compression between 0 and 9. I tried at 8 7 and 2 and those did not work. I lowerd the compression to 0 and zipped and signed again then the install worked.
Now the player can play the audio files and have them register as sound.
