how do i set IIWPO so that it doesnt show on the "remove programs list"?
i know you had developed a software to do this, but your software has t-mobile customizations.... i am using o2 sir.. please help
Z
One other thing, I just installed the 1.72.902 load and the IIWPO is in the remove list of the applications. Also the ext rom version # doesn't show up???
@Z-man: The removal of IIWPO from the remove prgrams list is done by a cab in my 1.72.902 package called edsubsoft.cab.
It simply removes the appropiate registry keys.
You will have to add that cab to your config.txt in order to run it after every hard reset.
@Dataphd: See original thread for answers.
I will look into this as a bug in the registry file COULD give the result from it to not run at all. One other function of edsubsoft.cab is to set the ext rom # . . . .
from what i know, your edsubsoft.cab has T-mobile customizations right? wont that affect my system? im using i-mate rom (waxx's) 1.72 with a cooked Ext. ROm
I made a mistake in answering you. Plz see the 1.72.902 thread for more info.
To be short: Its not the eDsuBsofT.cab but the Version_172_902.cab that makes IIWPO un-installable (it also makes Customization Tools un-installable and sets the ExtROM version).
It is so cool to change ROMs of XDAII like changing OS on PC.
but experience of HimaUpgradeUt.exe is a really nightmare sometimes.
yesterday I tried 3 times and had to kill all processes on my PC and detach all USB devices except the cradle.
however, sometimes I can upgrade ROM at first time but still takes very long time.
I guess the reason is the cradle use USB 1.1 and HimaUpgradeUt must upload 3 ROMs one by one.
Is it possible to use other way to burn that ROM?
especially when we just need to amend ExtROM only?
why don't you do your changes directly in the extended rom?
and do a hard reset.
This gives you the same result as upgrading without changing NK and radio.
ofcourse you'll need extended rom unlocker.

How to change directly in the extended rom?? I am newbie here!!
Any links or guideline for me?? Thanks!!
this is the original thread for the extendedromunlocker on himalaya :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=8422&start=0
it creates a folder in Programs : Extrom tools
choose unhide , reset
now there is a folder on your device : Extended_ROM
when you want to do changes :
Programs : Extrom tools : unlock
now do your modifications there like you would in ER2003Edit:
* copy/delete cabs
* edit config.txt (easier on PC)
lock when finished modifying, for safety
tip : I have extromunlocker in my extrom, avoiding to reinstall, after every hard reset.
thanks for your reply!!
I already tried and it works!!
And... it is very good idea to include the Extromunlocker too..
Hi fellas.
I was wondering if anyone here can see if there's a way to extract the iPAQ audio from hp rw6828 (from the extended ROM, etc) and right into the Atom?
I just tested HP yesterday, and I think it really improves the bass well without cracking up the sound!
Thanks!
audio.cpl file from rw6828
here is the .cpl from rw6828,
i havent got atom to try it on. copy the file to your windows folder then restart. it should be in your setting, system.
i am not able to copy the cpl file. says permission denied.
Thanks klikman!
The file is in "hidden" status, and which is why you can't copy it through activeSync. I copied it onto my miniSD card through an external writer, then used Recso explorer (with "show hidden files" setting) and copied it onto Windows folder.
The icon appears under settings, but your settings are not saved when you open it up next. Importantly, the audio controls don't work at all. It's merely a control panel, which seems to be controlling something which is still missing Perhaps something more to be extracted from the iPaq? Any idea how to view the extended ROM? it might be there.
probably a few .dll files
can you U/L the HP rom, i wanna try to install it my Atom.
audio file from ipaq rom
using card export in atom, you ll be able to see the extended rom, but in ipaq, we cant. my guess is there's no extended rom
the main memory size in ipaq 6828 is 58.5MB compared to atom, only 43 mb or so.
the extended rom in ipaq is merged with the main memory, 58.5MB!!!!!! that's the biggest compared of all pda phones.
whats atom's total program memory size? in ipaq, got 52.4mb.
here i upload all audio files from ipaq 6828. try it on
Copied the 2 dll files into windows directory.
Does not work

They have absolutly same ROM & RAM size, unlock hiden partition on Atom and you'll get missed 16.5mb,43+16=59mb.After all its exactly same devices inside.
I guess the whole audio player has to be exported. Thats the application that does the sound effects.
Why stop there? I'd love to see if it's possible to use the HP ROM on an Atom, and if there's anything to gain by it!
Well id personally like to put the Atom ROM on my RW6828.
The HP ROM has a few issues that need address, mainly just performance with games and unlocking the speaker to go louder would be nice.
I want to try this but if I was to attempt to put the Atom ROM on the HP wouldnt I just get an 'incorrect device' error?
Probably. But you could try entering bootloader mode before you try. That may help.
Well I cant try anything until HP release a ROM Update anyway, because I dont believe there is any download links to the default ROM.
All a matter of patience I guess, no doubt theres someone else out there with a 6828 thinking the same thing...
Dear Expert,
I manage to modify Atom Life Rom diskimage_ver.nb0 and it work on my hp6828. But some function not working like wireless Manager and other due to hp6828 have no externalRom . Can someone teach me how to transfer the EnternalRom file ? Any tools that I can do it and the procedure . Thanks
Which version WM?
ATOMWM607AB3WWE rom created by jigg
Extract using WinImage.. and copy it..
Already did it . If I just copy those file , it doesn't work . Any file that I need to modify ? like HV or initflashfiles.dat ? Because I'm just start pocket PC , so my knowledge of this system is very poor .
Yesterday when I flash rom , forgot to delete atom bootloader , during the step 3 at flashing External Rom , my Hp6828 hang at 6% . I make a big mistake ....(Reset the phone) . So now great . Phone dead now . Search through web and try hundred way to reset , refesh , The phone no respone. I can't even on the Power .
Will send it back to HP service center. Hope not so expensive.
simply copying the extended ROM file will not work because your DOC (disc-on-chip) was formatted differently. You might consider changing all the other programs that need to search for the extended ROM to do it locally.
For instance, most of the files located in the extended ROM are the skin files for the FM Radio, Wireless Manager, Network settings, etc. All these you already have with your existing WM5 hprw6828. Now if this doesn't work, you can look for an hp wm6 device with an extended ROM.
The Atom series is not an exact clone of the hprw6828. Your device drivers are different, and the programs written may not necessarily work on your ipaq.
If you still want to go after changing your DOC format, please look for bepe's thread on Trinity which removes the DOC from their device. You can study how he removed it. Your process is the reverse.
Please do post your developments. Good Luck!
cheers,
Jiggs
Thanks Jiggs , a guy from 'PdaFans' creat a cab file call HP68X8 EXTROM.cab . I download and run in my phone . Than most of the feature work , Only problem is the wireless manager display in chinese , O2 Album tile become funny word. I think could be cause by language difference , because the guy wn6 is chinese simplify version . And also the rom that the guy use to modify is difference with mine .
I upload the file in mediafire . Please check and let me know what the guy did .

Okay, I looked at this. What he did is an alternative method of putting the necessary files in the right folder. He created a subfolder named \_QHiddenPartition\ -> the name of the extended ROM. You can do this though, but you can leave out the installation cabs on the extended ROM as this will surely double copy them from ROM.
To do this effectively would mean to recreate the root folder from initflashfiles.dat copying the files from ROM to the subfolder \_QHiddenPartition\. An alternative would be to ZIP it on one file and unzip it on \_QHiddenPartition\ to minimize \Windows files. Too many files in \Windows affects performance index.
This is the easy way out, but you will not have the benefits of the real extended ROM. Also, that our ROM 62.5MB (approx) has limited space to store all the files.
If you will be implementing our ROMs, you will need to modify the MortScript to not look for install cabs in \_QHiddenPartition\
At least with this, hp 6828, you can get to enjoy ATOM WM6 WWE now.
Now, this is real good news!
Thanks Jiggs, at least with that solution , I manage to run your rom for pass two week and the rom not give me much problem.
So now I just wait for my phone back than I will try other way to solve this ExternalRom.
Hope can upload a better rom to HP6828 user soon.

bravo
think now you will need WinCE cab manager (or similar app) to rebuild the cab file (replace the content with English files)
Hi, Wantat:
I have patch for WM6. I'll upload it to my server for you download
I allreyd flashed a lot and did use a soft spl, but I do not find a proper
explanation what it is.
So, i Think it is the Bootloader ?
Can anyone tell me what a soft and a hard SPL is and does ?
For what do I need it ?
I just got my new Touch Pro bought in UK and now it is here in Germany and I want a german ROM on it as soon as it is available.
Please don´t write your standard answers like WIKI and Search - a forum is here for communication and I did not find the proper answers - only too long threats

Yep your right on that assumption sir The bootloader does alot of the low level handling of the startup process when you power on the device aswell as handling the process when you flash anything to the device...im sure its far more technical than that but thats a starter explanation Essentially you NEED a bootloader for the device to work at all, the case with many of the HTC devices...other devices are different most likely.
Soft SPL: (normally referred to as SSPL) IS loaded into RAM and allows you to perform some of the operations the standard bootloader would do, naturally with some extra functionality (explained later)
HardSPL: Same sort of thing except it is flashed to the device permenantly, so it replaces the HTC bootloader in your devices flash memory.
Both of these tend to safeguard against corrupting the device by having some fancy workarounds and updates to the processes built into the HTC SPL, and the best part is that they allow you to flash ANY ROM you wish therefor allowing us to use Cooked ROMs and various updates like radio updates and etc...frees the device up quite superbly.

Perhaps some mebers feel like adding a general HardSPL page to the wiki for FAQs like this to be answered better than "Search the forum.." since we know its not that good for finding anything.
The Wiki is there for everyone to use and edit so, learn and pass it on
Just a quick question, does any of this interfere with HTC released updated ROMs? Like, when they release a new version on their site, does having HardSPL prevent you from updating?
Hello !
Thank you for your advise.
One more question:
Should I install Hard or Soft SPL ?
I want to try out many ROMS - I think Hard is better, what do you mean ?
Thank you for your help
By the way:
I am a kind of technican - working in IT for nearly 18 years starting fron Novell, Banyan Vines and DOS up to Windows Vista. Also I am a kind of apple Guru, thats why I have certainly an iPhone 2G and 3G.
For business I use HTC devices sind the first MDA. But I lost track a little sind iPhone.
As I am a technic nerc I sstarted with th the Diamond touch again and I liked the device but i swapped this week to the touch pro because of the keyboard, SD Slot an flash light. I love this device.
By the way I also have the new Samsung Omnia 900 here and an unfun Nokia E71 ( I hate this old symbian - looks like last centuty )
So good night and thank you

no, raphael hardspl is unsigned, means any rom is allowed, including HTC official roms.

you can only install hardspl. the job of soft spl is to install hardspl.
do not ever try any of the following:
- with SSPL, do not flash anything other than the included SPL NBH files. as extra protection the diamond and raphael SSPL's require htchacker sign (except the version jocky edited) and will reject anything that's not an SPL.
- and do not ever try to flash SSPL as an NBH, especially if it is a diamond or raphael.
Im sorry to disagree with your "don't tell me to use the Wiki".
But this is a fairly comprehensive answer to your question: http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=SPL Questions? straight out the wiki.

When flashing a new ROM, do u lose all ur settings? Like installed programs, and other customizations?
Do you lose these by installing Hard-SPL?

There are several things.
UC is short for User Customisation; it is in all the Kaiser ROM's nowadays. l3v5y's Raph ROMs also have it.
Links: l3v5y's ROMs & Main UC Thread.
I use UC to install programs, Provisioning XML (as part of UC) to change registry settings, my xcopyce application to copy folders and active sync to copy contacts, calender etc.

Ok, thanks. Seems very complicated. Having to write XML files and such.
when running RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe, it says all information will be lost on my device. Are you sure i dont lose everything when installing Hard-SPL?

I can't say. I haven't done it, what says you will lose all the info, the RUU or the thread? If it's the RUU, then you should be OK, it's probably the standard message that the proper RUU (used for carrier ROM upgrades) has.
UC is good, takes maybe an hour or two to get setup, but once done, you don't have to do it again and it makes flashing so much fun. I started with just installing CAB's and Copying files, then went onto ProvXML for my registry settings next. The latest version of Schap's Advanced Config (3.0) can export tweaks into a Prov XML file for you. It is worth it if you flash your ROM as often as I do.
Dave
I do love this kind of stuff. Any new gadget i get, i like to do this kinda stuff with it. But its a little overwhelming in this case .
So, using UC, i can set it up so that my settings, such as email accounts, wifi networks + passes, notify settings, etc, as well as all the programs are restored after a ROM flash?
To do this i have to manually go through my registry to find the entries for each of these settings though? No way to just extract my current unflashed devices settings to a file that the new ROMs then use? That would be nice

We are getting a little off topic of the OP now but...
Any tweaks done with schaps Advanced Config can be easiler exported using a "export" menu option.
If you export your registry after flashing, and again after you have all your settings setup right, you can Diff then using a Diff Program and copy the changes into your ProvXML file. Most PPC Regedit programs can export.
Any more on UC, I'd have a read of the UC thread and ask any questions in there. Myself and l3v5y keep and eye on it most of the time and should be able to help fairly quickly.

Hello
So my Threat became quite interesting.
One last question foe me.
What File should I download to HARD SPL my Touch Pro.
Is there a file which includes all ? I mean I do not have to modify files inside the cabinet or so ?
Is there a fast link ?
Thank you for all the help - now lets start using the Touch - weekend is near

Is it possible to use those backup softwares? Like Spb Backup for example that say "ROM Upgrade Mode — now it's possible to restore data after the ROM upgrade"? Instead of UC and such?
there is a IPL initial program loader (sort of bios)
a SPL secondary program loader (kinda like the ntloader)
and there is a service mode (3 color screen) (the flashprog)
then we have a RUU remote unit upgrader
mft masterfile table
mbr master boot record
and some other shizzle
the device switches the output of the internal usb when device is in 3 colorscreen to a service mode which allows it to overwrite the internal flashdrive .. pretty neat as what it actually does is switching to an internal flashprogrammer which programs the internal flashdrive. this is the same process as is used for your pc at home to update the bios.
the CID celloperator identification code (used for blocking certain rom upgrades)
enjoy..
Soft SPL quesiton
I have a SPV M700 and it's unlocked. I want to install Schaps rom. I have the folowing SPL version 1.07.000. I have't managed to install hard spl. Can I use soft spl to flash it? Can I permanently brake it?
