I just loaded the PK Black Dual ROM and I love it for the most part, but there are two issues that are really driving me crazy. When I open just about any e-mail message in Outlook, it takes an unreasonably long time before I can read the message-- it shows "loading message" at the bottom of the screen, and during this time the phone is more or less locked up. It never did this before. I have two e-mail accounts set up, one an ActiveSync connection to an Exchange server and the other an IMAP connection to Gmail. It does this on both accounts. It does this for each message. I don't have a lot of messages in my Inbox for either account-- only about 15 in the Exchange account and 30 in the Gmail one.
The other issue I have is with the browsers, Opera and IE both. It takes a long time before I can actually use them. After they start, they just sit there for up to a minute before they start downloading pages. After that initial delay, they work fine, until the next time I open them.
Does anybody have any ideas? It's driving me nuts. I'm on AT&T's network in the SF Bay Area.
Thanks

Sounds to me like you need to reinstall - I have many emails in my Outlook and it reacts instantly - as do Opera and IE - the only delay is when I change from 3G to HSDPA and that is a 5-10 second delay
The 3G thing may be the key-- I was in a GPRS area last night and suddenly it got very responsive. When I went back into a 3G area it slowed down again. It seems like it is taking a very long time to switch, but I don't understand why Outlook would slow down as well, since the messages are stored locally after being downloaded from the server.

Since yesterday I noticed a sudden problem with my XDA I can not sort out, and I would like to ask this community for help on this one:
Problem:
Emails stored in the outbox do not get transmitted during a GPRS connection with my provider.
Observations:
The login process goes as usual, it even says "sending emails ...", which takes the usual while, incoming mails get downloaded to the device, but after the connection is over it says "could not upload emails, check your setting or talk to the provider" in an alert box. When I look into the outbox all the mails I wanted to send are still there, and they are not just forgotten to delete after sending (I sent some to myself to check).
I have of cause checked the settings, and I know the account is working, because I can access it via my laptop.
The radio must be able to send, because it would not be able to establish a connection otherwise.
I resetted the device, but this had no effect.
I thried to use the dvice in a different GPRS zone (other city) but the issue remains the same.
I searched the forum, but did not find any usable information.
Question:
Have these things be observed before?
Does anyone have a hint on how to sort this issue out or what to look at closer?
Any hints would be appreciated,
Martin
i had this prblm b4...but then i used nPop and it worked fine, but now i dont even use that, i just use "myemail.t-mobile.com" as the outgoing mail, but thats just 4 TMO

Well I know I cannot do that with my Device.
Here in NZ the ISP's block access to the SMTP servers from any connection outside their network.
They do this to stop Spammers using their SMTP servers.
Often they still allow access to the POP servers, because they are authenticated, which fits your symptoms, you can receive, but not send, via your GPRS.
One solution is to set the account up to use your cellphone companies SMTP server if they have one. So you send your mail via smtp.Vodafone.net.nz for example.
..Chuck..
Thank you for your replies!
I checked with my provider to find out if they changed their POP/SMTP settings, but they didn't.
It then took me a while to find out this is a software issue.
In fact it is in some software on the device, and it comes back after hard resetting and copying back the SD backup. I did a double hard reset with a clean reinstall of all software and now I'm able to send mails again.
I could not exactly find out which part of the software, because I can not extract or delete individual files from the backup or resore thm one by one to eliminate faulty files. (is there a tool for this?)
I have the suspicion that establishing two active sync partnerships did the change: Before I had the problem, I had only one computer I synced with, but short before that I bought a new Laptop and now sync with two computers (one being a server, via a network). This might have corrupted something within the networking settings, that is not accessible via the option and connection setting pages.
I'd really like to have an overview page to check on all current settings instead of using settings... and options... dialogs in different locations, but that's another story.
It's working again.
Thanks once more for your replies!

My post is even more basic. I would like to see a short, simple sequence of events to "send an e-mail" from my sx-56.
A. Which program do I use to send (if there is a different one to receive, what it that)?
B. What are the entities that I have to enter into the fields, on which program?
C. What is the procedure for composing and sending the e-mail once the preliminary data has been entered?
The PDA works fine
The phone works fine
Thanks,
Lou
So I've been using this Rezound for almost 2 weeks.
I have 4 Email accounts setup on it.
The default primary account is an IMAP, of the remaining three...two are POP and one is IMAP.
All of them are set to check for new email every hour during peak and off-peak times.
I have noticed that when I'm connected to 4G that only my default primary account is being checked every hour, while my other three accounts are not.
But if I connect the phone to my home WiFi, then all four of the accounts get checked once an hour.
I'm not sure if this may be related in some way to the browser issue I'm having here images are not loaded and show as question marks when using 4G but not 3G or WiFi.

Can you manually try to sync the other 3 accounts when on 4G? I've had problems syncing my corporate exchange account over 4G (3g works fine). Have a ticket opened with VZ and HTC. it's been 2 weeks now w/o no resolution.
From what I have heard lately , VZW doesn't have all the bugs out of 4G LTE yet and that is probably responsible for a lot of problems this phone is having.

Yes, when I go into the email app, it will then download the emails that I received since the last time I manually checked them. But once I leave the app, it will not download them every hour like it is supposed to do. This is when connected to 4G. When I'm on WiFi it will check every hour.

Same issue with my Razr.
I have 3 email accounts: 2 corporate (exchange 2003 and exchange 2010 servers) and 1 IMAP.
I can set up any option (Data push and Fetch schedule for non-push accounts) in email settings for 'Email delivery'. No matter what, after some time all the options are back to defaults: 'Fetch schedule: 15 minutes" and 'Data push: none'.
For instance: One of the accounts is push enabled so I mark it checked at 'Data push'. It works for some time (not really sure how long) but then the account appears back in 'Fetch schedule' list.
Also if I select 'Every hour' in 'Fetch schedule' this option remains selected for some time but let's say next day it is reset back to 'Every 15 minutes'.
the issue is also that in spite the accouts should synch (every 15 minutes) they don't - I have to do it manually.
I thought the OTA update would resolve the issue but it has not (I am now 651.73.30).
I am going to remove all the smart actions to see if this solves the issue.
did disabling smart actions work for you? i'm having the same issue with 2 imap idle accounts and a corporate email account.
push works for some time but after e.g. 30 minutes there are no messages pushed. asap I open messaging app, all accounts are refreshing and emails arrive.
all accounts are set up for push, wifi sync unchecked, background data activated, mobile data is enabled, datasaver unchecked.
I have had this problem with the default mail client on every android phone that I have used. I believe it might be an android problem rather than a specific RAZR issue.
I switched to K-9 mail a while ago. Haven't had a problem since.
Guys! Just install MailDroid! It's really good app. I'm using it on my third phone ... about 2 years. It's much much better then k-9 mail. Greetz!
I have the same problem with my Yahoo mail, It just happens recently I do not get any email notifications anymore I have to manually sync my mail to get the new email. I did not do any changes to my phone same settings like OP
Same problem here too. I've got two corporate email accounts, both on Exchange 2010 and both working fine on other android devices. Only on my Razr does push email revert to fetch after half an hour or so?
I have the same problem with background data getting disabled randomly.
I tried removing all smart actions which didn't seem to help so just did a factory reset. Fingers crossed!
Hi,
Disabling Smart Actions made no difference. I have also played with background data but it didn't help.
But I have discovered something new, I believe:
I travel abroad regularly – weekends I am in home network and weekdays roaming usually. I have switched off GSM data roaming so that I don’t use any GSM data connections while roaming – I have access to WiFi usually so I actually don’t need GSM data.
BUT: When I am at home all synchronisation works fine regardless if via GSM or WiFi. When I roam (so GSM data is off) and connect to WiFi no automatic e-mail synchronisation happens. And I mean not only push but also the scheduled synchronisation does not really work – I have to synch manually. Weather and any other synchronisation works fine.
My conclusion would be then: Moto’s e-mail client is crap and I will give a try to some other e-mail clients based on recommendations above. I am quite sure this issue is not Android generic because my previous device was HTC Desire and it worked fine in exactly same environment. I have played with my wife's new HTC Sensation too - also positive.
By now - in my Razr, I have actually replaced most of stock applications with others available from Market (no root) - most are from the "GO *" series. I might have not liked the HTC applications but they did function properly for me. Moto disappointed me...
Greetings!
k
PS So check your mobile data parameters...
I have no suggestion but I have the same problem...-the push of my emails (imap accounts) is working just a short moment after the manual resync and after that I get no pushed emails.....
I am trying to use the built-in email app to connect to our work email server. I have it set for IMAP for the incoming and it connects and works fine for that. However, when I go to the outgoing (SMTP) server settings it refuses to connect.
I tried over and over again. So I downloaded and installed K9 mail and tried it. Same thing. IMAP works great, SMTP not at all. It just hangs up and comes back with an error connecting to the email server. I know there is nothing wrong with the server, there are about 10 other co-workers here that have Droid Incredibles and Samsung Fascinates that connect and use the email server with the exact same settings, theirs works fine. It's only my rezound that wont connect.
Anybody else seen this issue or have any clue as to what is wrong?
Do you have droidwall or any other firewall installed?
No, no firewalls. Turns out that our e-mail server has an smtp handshake delay of 22 seconds built in to fight spam. Apparently the HTC email app on the older Droid Incredible can deal with the long timeouts while the new HTC email app on the Rezound doesnt like 22 seconds. We just played around with the SMTP timeout on our email server and 15 seconds is ok and 20 seconds is ok. Anything over 20, is a no go, it causes the app to try to send it three times then report an error in the notification bar. Too bad there isnt a setting in the app for adjustable timeout to counter that.
Edit: K9 mail also doesnt like anything 21 seconds and up. Neither has a setting in them to adjust it. I'm thinking it must be a global setting in Android that can be modified on a case by case basis. The older droid incredibles and samsung fascinates must have a higher timeout set than the Rezound. Also, several people here at work are on blackberries and one guy is using an iphone. They all connected fine at 22 seconds. The Rezound is the only one that couldnt.
I have three email accounts, all hotmail or msn accounts, setup in the email program that came with the phone. Two days ago, my texts started showing up in all three email accounts. Even if I access the email accounts from my computer and not the phone, the texts are there. So that means the phone is forwarding the texts to the email accounts. Why is this happening and how do I stop it?
Got it. I don't know how they SMS sync got turned on for the three accounts just the day before yesterday. I had never been that deep into the settings before and it wasn't like that since I got the phone the day they were released. Pretty weird that it turned itself on like that.
