I got a T-Mobile MDA Vario II upgraded to Windows Mobile 6 and like to use thisone with a Vodafone SIM.
Here some Data about:
(Info from the Bootloader)
HERM300
IPL-1.04
HERM300
SPL-2.03
Systeminformation:
ROM-Version: 3.60.111.4
Radio-Version: 1.50.00.00
I've tried to Downgrade to WM5. I've tried button_rom.
I've tried everything, i have found about Down / Upgrade, about Sim-Unlock etc. etc. etc. ....
But i'm to Stupid to Sim-Unlock this MDA.
Always when I try to Downgrade to WM5, the Setup starts normally.
After the MDA enters the Bootloader the Setup will show an error like "no device....".
What did I wrong?

I think the RomUpgradeUt.exe that exists in the wm5 ROMs is not compatible with SPL 2.03.
try this:
Extract the .nbh file from your desired wm5 rom (Rename your ROM from *.exe to *.zip and extract it using winzip).
Flash it to your device using RUUwrapper.exe (Force using SSPL).

now i've made the update.
It shows no error or something other.
The MDA looks like a WM5 device - But it will stop booting when it shows the first WM5-Picture.
Ok...now it will stop when it shows the "T-Mobile" Splash Screen..
Well....one Softreset later .... i have a white Screen

Now I can't go on with the RUUWrapper ......
Is there any posibility to Update the MDA while staying in the Bootloader (works without problems).

I insert the SD-Card, load the Bootloader, after this, the Display show's:

And for a Short time

Not Allowed"
Then I'm in the RGB-Colored Bootloader......
Any Idea? I've tried the WM6-File from the T-Mobile Page, the WM5-File....

But it won't help me.
The Autor wrote this:

My Problem: Windows Mobile 5 or 6 doesn't Boot - So i can't use the RUUWrapper....
To enter the "special" BootLoader I need an working WM5 or WM6....

Until now there is no known sulotion to fix that, unless you want to send ur device to service center!

I have one more MDA Vario II with WM6, SPL2.03 and IPL 1.01
=> WORKING....
But i think i'll unlock this one by the "T-Mobile-Sim-Unlock-Code".

Go to any vodafone store..make your device back to WM6..
say to the guy @ vodafone store that your going on a holiday.. they will give you a key that unlocks the device..
and your done ! ! ! Works for a friend of mine

I don't think, that a vodafone store will give me a unlock-code for a t-mobile device.... :O
And the next Problem is, that de MDA doesn't boot the OS and have the "no gsm" error....

I did the popular mistake, tried to unlock with Universal Unlocker , thinking that this is the staff to unlock all the HTC phones.

What else I can do ? I was trying with QTEK rom and a got white screen on the phone and 0% on the computer. It was hanging. I tried 5 times. Then I tried to install the Radio Rom from here:

Yes, I was tying point 5 few times. The problem is, I can connect through mtty.exe without any problems, but after soft reset, I am pressing POWER and OK button and going to bootloader mode again, and when I am trying to flash the extracted radio ROM (i tried all of them = 4) and there is a problem. nothing is working. I am waiting and waiting, and there is only info: Checking your device information or something like that. What can I do ? Sorry for my English guys.
Instead of flashing an extracted radio image try to flash a normal shipped rom (if possible matching your cid). Capture the process using usb monitor to see where exactly it fails and which error you get.

I tried that ROM 2 times, once I plugged with holding camera button and second time without. I made monitor of QTEK rom aswell, because its the one which is changing phone screen from red green blue stripes to completly white. But nothing else is doin...
A attaching logs in zip file below. I have 3 files from each session, I dont know which are correct, 2 of them i saved and 1 is exported.
What do you think ?

very weird... usb seems not working but for what you say bootloader seems to be ok. Are you sure this was after patching the radio with universal unlocker? it seems totally a different problem :-$
I guess you'll have to wait until t-mob releases a ROM matching your CID and then flash it using the hermimg.nbh sd-card flashing method.
You can also try to connect to it via serial, I have no experience on that, but a search on these forums might tell you how...

Until t-mobile releases a rom with your cid... it can be today or next year, I don't know.

I don't think you lost the warranty. They usually charge about 100 eur for flashing it back in the service centre. They do it by inserting a diagnostics sd card, but we don't have it for the Hermes

You can try flashing over serial port, and you can try sd-card flashing, but for sd-card flashing you need a rom matching your CID first.

Finally I made my device working again!
And I dont have simlock !
After trying everything.... ufffff.

1) I downloaded ftp://xda:[email protected]/Hermes/Tools_and_Programs/HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v1.zip
2) Reset my phone in bootloader mode.
3) Plug USB cable.
4) Run HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v1.
5) After 20 min. my phone said ELO to meeeee He did not have simlock when was saying that.

That was simple. If you have any Hermes radio problem, try that first - HTC_Hermes_SIM_Unlock_v1.

and unluckly cable loosen and I reset the phone.
Since it's in the middle and can't success enter the Windows Mobile,
but the bootloader was updated to 1.06.
Now I can't flash any ROM either
HER_DopodAsia_1237074_1060010_WWE_SHIP or the new one.
The tools on "imei check" even can't recognize my phone.

I have the same issue, and sent it to service, and now I have the phone back and they could not fix it, so got no radio or imei number, so none of the FAQ will work for me.

I recently had a power cut (yes, a lights off power cut!) that killed my PC half wat through installing the Cingular English CWS__001 1.34.502.1 09/21/06 ?? 1.16.00.00 32.53.7018.01H 14955.2.3.0 ROM onto my SPV 3100.
Now SPV 3100 will boot to the ROM I was running prior to the upgrade but I can't use the telephone. I'm also not able to rerun the upgrade as it got far enough through the process to upgrade my bootloader to 1.06 - therefor rendering me unable to load another ROM.
Before the crash I was using the Imate ROM as below and M3100 was sim unlocked and running on o2 3G

I have also tried imei without any joy.
the PDA part of my M3100 still works but the phone is dead. I have been told that if you can get the latest radio installed then you satnd a chance of the phone part working.
We need a hack to get bootloader 1.4 back on the phones.

This can be fixed by bootloader commands 'set 14 0' and 'task 8', will reboot your device and boot into OS again (but no GSM yet!)

'set 14 0' and 'task 8' didn't work
@rnc1688: It starts the flashing process, but you get a "CID not allow (255)" error because your CID is corrupted and you are in bootloader 1.06.
Is not booting WM5 after "set 14 0" in mtty.exe? If it's not booting WM5 you'll not be able to flash bootloader 1.04 and bypass CID checking.
so i guess my unit is bricked now.

@yhlee: U're getting exactly the same error as rnc1688. Device in bootloader 1.06 which has corrupted CID, however you say you can go into OS, so it would be possible for you to downgrade the bootloader so it does not enforce CID checking.

Try "set 1e 1" and then "set 14 1", you'll boot stright into bootloader.
@rnc1688: If you want to go WM5 try this:
"set 1e 1" and then "set 14 0", you should be able to boot stright into OS.

grrr!!!... command "set 14 [0|1]" is working fine in 1.04 here to switch boot into WM5 or boot in bootloader mode... probably different in 1.06??? I don't have a 1.06 now to test

Let me know when they fix it... i'm curious about if they will fix it with 1.06 or they will downgrade to 1.04 first.
I got a correct message back from the service company, and they will not fix a bootloader 1.06 unless the original rom has been release with it, I was told that is HTC policy on this.

I am an IT-student from Germany having a serious problem. I tried to unlock my German T-Mobile Ameo (HTC Advantage 7500) with Olipro's AthenaUnlocker. Unfortunatly, after the second step (flashing) the Ameo did not boot anymore. I am quite sure I screwed something up after the flash was completed ...
However, I can only access the hard-reset screen by pressing the volume-key down and the reset button at the same time AND the SPL (bootloader???) by pressing the camera button and the reset button. On this screen it says:

How can I get Windows Mobile back up and running? I would prefer Windows Mobile 6, however I would be clad about everything THAT WORKS!!!

you are lucky atleast you have the boot-loader. my loader is screwd and cant do nothing. bad news is it is hard to find t-mobile german rom (if your cid is not unlocked). if CID is ok flash any WM6 rom and everything will be koool

I could recover my Ameo just fine. I went into the boot manager and reflashed the original T-Mobile German image, which is available in the file section of the Athena-Wiki on this site. Afterwards I downloaded the latest!!! version of OliPros Unlocker Tool. This time everything worked just fine. At the Unlocker Tool finished, I installed the German HTC Windows Mobile 6 image for Athena.
Now I got a unlocked, updated T-Mobile Ameo / HTC Advantage X7500.

** SECOND : we must know that before we trying to do any updating or change roms on my prophet i just need to do which called unlock for the prophet and then we after that been able to change any rom on my ( jamin ) and of course u need to be careful about Your device is it G4 or G3 ,

# when u start Your Device u will see some numbers on left,

** THIRD : lets go to unlock , i will put programs in this thread it will help u in unlock.
-- Sync your device with computer and open the file u download it called HardSpl you will find two files one one foe G3 and G4 open your kind then you'll find a file called (( hardspl.bat )) okay, be sure your device is connected to computer then open the file and follow instruction and it will reset your device ,

What is the IPL and SPL?
If the wiki where up, I'd suggest looking at that, but as it is I'll explain it now...
What ROM where you attempting to upgrade to?
To get the device back, I would say "Read the wiki" but it's down!!!
Download this ROM.
In ActiveSync, disable "connect through USB" (File->Connection Settings).
Put the device into bootloader (the three coloured screen) and connect it to the computer using the USB cable.
Run the file you downloaded earlier. This should then install a new ROM.
From there, just wait for it to finish.
Now, it should work!
From there, you could re install the Orange WM5 ROM, or try upgrading to WM6. Make sure you read all the relevant guides first!

hi again brothers, pal zerocool. first u must unlock ur device to be able to accept any rom after that and solve pproblems.
first flash this rom its offecial and it solve dead prophet problems.
then make hard spl by program open file called hardspl.bat.
make hard reset.
flash ur rom u want.
make hard reset again.
then enjoy.
i uploaded the hardspl program but i couldnt upload the rom its so big so u can look in ur mail u will find the solution.
u can extract file by any program for zip.and tell me the news

Hi guys,
I have been using a sh... Nokia sine I broke my prophet G4 in december by upgrading the OS.
I had downgraded first to NVID and then I tried to upgrade and it fails at 95%.
Sine this day, my prophet seem totally dead, no light when plug on both charger or computer, windows do not recognize at all the device because it is turned off. And it really do not seem to charge...
I am living in China now and a guy told me I had to change the PB board...The ost is 100Euros, but I am almost sure I an find another solution...
The weird thing is I cannot charge it at all ( I mean no lights but does it charge a little?).
The guy tested my prophet with another battery and in that ase, it is stuck on the bootloader.
We tried several roms and it always fails at 95% and the error is 200 something, maybe 245 or 243, I do not remember sorry...
Is my phone hardware is dead? or it is just a software problem and I did not see the right guy?
Do I need to buy a new battery? I have read that sometimes the device is not able to recognize it even if it the offiial one and even if it is working on another device...
PLease help me I don't want to loose this phone that I've been using for almost 3 years...
Otherwise I will switch to an iphone but I am not sure to be as happy than I was with my prophet.

Can it enter bootloader at all?
If yes, what are the IPL and SPL?
If not, it will be a hardware problem (may just be connectors to the battery but may be something more).
the only way of recovery is using jtag
but 1st we must discover the location of jtag pins on motherboard
I just do not know because with my actual battery, anything is possible....
when I tried with the guy and a new battery it was blocked on the bootloader, but don't remember the IPL and SPL...sorry
I may be right about the battery onnectors though, but the problems seem to be from the phone connectors or the battery it self???

If it can enter bootloader, it is almost certainly your battery at fault!
Ok so i burnt my battery during the upgrade...
But why is it still blocking at 95% when he tried to put a rom?
With his battery, it was stuck on the bootloader and not possible to install a rom, even a NVID WM5...
I really do not know what to do...

My iMate JAMin is dead; I was in the middle of flashing it when it froze, now when I turn it on, I get the Tri-color screen with the following ...
IPL: 2.13.0001
SPL: 2.13.0001
No [BUSB[/B] is detected. So now I need a way to flash it from the SD Card. I can not even see the HTC startup screen anymore, it just jumps directly into the tri-color screen.

Do you know which ROM? Is your device branded, and is it SIM locked?
Do you know the IPL/SPL? Did they end with the same numbers?

help me please i tried another tool with the same nbf file it stops at 80%
and it automatically enter the boot loader
and i can't do ant thing

and now it's 1.01

I will start with my story: I have a qtek S200 and i have make a mistake i think? a friend off my set that i cane use every rom for your phone. So i have putt this a Vincent rom on it. (that's the only thing i know)
Now i want a new rom but, every Rom for a Prophet that i tray on my S200 stops by the Red/Green/Blue screen.
Can some wane help me to get a working Rom for me or a fix for this problem.

the problem. You haven't HARDSPL your Device.
Now, go to bootloader mode and flash PDAVIETTemp ,which can be found here.
PDAVIET TEMP
and HARDSPL your Device.
once you HARDSPL your device. SPL information should be 2.G4.4PDA for PPC G4 or 2.G3.4PDA for PPC G3.
Read WIKI. What is SPL. And how to go to bootloader mode.

For the second time i have load te Rom in the image stay still at 74% cane i break the operation? And how do i get te boot screan back after a abord?

1. yes, can still update,
2. FORCE BOOLOADER MANUALLY, (very important )
3. Flash NVID for Prophet
4. after restart and activesync,
5. use my Lazy_tool to flash any rom you like....

PDA Viet Temp is just to make you back to WM5 no vendor.
To hardspl your device. Read here.
You can HARDSPL your device. Or use lazytool from youzi. Posted from dioxda2.
Lazytool is using softspl.

from the wiki, there is a sentence missing after "To enter bootloader, you need to hold the comm manager button and soft reset."
that is " then release the stylus and keep pressing the comm. button until you see the bootloader screen"

Don't worry, both way can do.
1. Flash with the tool included in your favorite rom package.
2. or change the nk.nbf in the Lazy_Tool will do ,too.
