can someone please tell me the steps tp a succesful rom flash. i cannot seem to get it right. and if it helps im trying to flash hibbys rom 1.6. i have the rom downloaded and have the romupdateutility software. what next???
did you unlock your phone yet?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410150
after you unlock
download RUU (rom update utiliti)
download rom you want.
extract both.
put rom into RUU folder, and run RUU.exe utililty)
There are 3 roms that can be flashed
The first is the bootloader. This is whats called hardspl. You need to flash the hardspl first, then you can flash the other roms.
The other ROMS are the Operating System, and the Radio (phone software)
They both use the same ruu software, but you put in different files to flash different things.
First thing, flash the spl to unlock the phone! http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=42503
Can someone clarify this for me:
1) After I unlock the phone (with CDMA SPL), can I use any Touch Pro ROM, or do I need a Sprint/CDMA version of the ROMs?
2) Does changing ROM and/or SPL void sprint warranty? Will they be able to tell?
Thanks, I think these answers should be Sticky+Wiki because I cant find reliable info anywhere...
Thanks!

Yes CDMA and yes always flash back to stock if you have to take it in...at this time there is no signed version though...
Everything you need to do step by step:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=43266
Just don't forget to unlock before you begin....
Also be sure to NOT use a GSM ROM (Fuze). You need CDMA if your with sprint.
I am new to this ROM issue but what's the deal with changing the ROM?

There are a couple different reasons to change your ROM. When you get right down to it, its just personal preference.
1) To help speed the device up. This is done my tweaking the ROM and removing or adding programs to your taste. Personally, I don't flash my rom to increase speed, my sprint TP is actually very stable and fast out of the box. There was however lots of bloatware I would never use.
2) To totally customize your phone to the way you want it. You can do this without a ROM, but when its in the rom if you hard reset, the device is back to the same as when you first flashed. (you wouldn't have to fool with putting on or taking off all the programs and tweaks to suites your needs)
When I flash and find a rom I like, if I end up hard resetting my phone it take me less than 10 min to get me up and going good as gold. (I grab my contacts and e-mail strait from my exchange server)
I'm sure there are other reasons, if so someone can chime in.
Hope this helps.

OK i have done some searching and this sounds like a good one. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=461524
Then i want to make shure i can get it back to the original rom i have right now so in case it breaks. this it? http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=427507&highlight=dump
Then do you guys know if in this rom it already has gps unlocked or do i have to do the bored thing? http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showthread.php?t=49933
Then this is my first time doing this. is there anything else i am missing?
First, have you unlocked your phone? This is a must!!
Second, you do have to follow the steps from bored to unlock the GPS.
Third, check out bored's ROMs and kitchens on this forum. Updated today!!
Also, you can revert back to the original ROM and re-lock your phone if neccasary. So no worries. Also, for better signal strength you can also try a new radio (sticky on ppcgeeks). May not help but if you have weak service now, these could give you more bars and extend your battery life.
OH, and if your still on the stock ROM....WOW. You are about to LOVE your phone!! Its like a different phone with a custom ROM, SOOOO much faster

I am not too familiar with XDA myself but PPCGeeks I would say is a better resource for your Verizon TP. I will post a few links that answer every one of your questions but you'll have to do a little reading yourself......
Unlocking and Relocking for Warranty Repair
Guide To Flashing
lllbored GPS Fix (very easy to do and includes the cab to revert if necessary)
Thread About RELOCKING for Warranty
In my Opinion these are all very easy things to accomplish as long as you made sure you READ the instructions throughly before attempting. Good Luck!

Stock CDMA ROMS
Not sure why you would think your Data plan would double???? I havent had any issues with my data plan changing except when buying a new device and they "assume" you want the Enterprise plan. As long as you made sure Verizon set you up on the $29.99 plan in the first place then it shouldnt change to my knowledge....... DONT CALL VERIZON AND TELL THEM THAT YOU UNLOCKED/FLASHED YOUR PHONE , lol.
Your data plan will be fine. Just dont do a lot of tethering if your plan isnt unlimited. Data usage will be the same as before though

Little history about that , bout 6 months ago I was helping someone in the CrackBerry forums flash a leaked beta on their Curve , they got confused , called Verizon for help flashing and of course were told that they had Violated customer agreements and the device warranty and how they were going to burn in hell for sinning against Verizon. This person then comes back to the forums furious at everybody that had been trying to help because WE had "voided" their warranty. Just wanted to make sure you werent going to do the same and be mad at me
That ROM is the leaked SHIP Rom that comes on the Verizon TP. Double check your Settings/System/Device Information if your not sure. Like I said in the post I linked above ,I have unlocked , flashed (MANY TIMES) and relocked and flashed the Verizon leaked rom so I could send it back and had NO issues whatsoever.
EDIT : Flashing a new rom is just as easy as unlocking was. Which ROM have you chosen for your first one??

all right and then when i am unlocking you get the screen on your computer with a picture of the touch pro and it has you accept the agreements. i have not done this yet but what does that do because it does not seem like that is the unlocker.
Damn this seems harder then putting custom firmware on a psp wich i did with ease.

5.open the ROMUpdateUtility.exe

That is dependant on which ROM you choose......... which rom did you choose?
Most roms are alot easier than that now.
EDIT** If it says .35 cmonex in bootloader then it IS unlocked. Nothing against XDA but for your CDMA Touch Pro you reallly need to be over at PPCGeeks for this. That Crossler post you linked to hasnt been updated for 3 months now. Crosslers Kitchen on PPCGeeks was updated yesterday , just a thought
Phone: LG P500h - ANDROID v 2.2.1 buildnumber FRG83.
Country: Brazil
Anyway, what I know is that i have to downgrade it to 2.2 in order to be able to root. I've looked through a bunch of tutorials on a bunch of websites but there are a few questions i have about the process that isn't answered anywhere i've looked.
Apparently downgrading requires me to get a stock ROM from LG, there is a topic here for that but it does not have the right ROM for my country, i tried a couple codes but they all got me 404.
Can I just flash any standard ROM from, US maybe, will it work?
And if yes, how do I flash it? Apparently you can do that by booting into recovery mode, but to get there you need it to be rooted which I can't do.
I've read about KDZ and downloaded that but... it crashes a lot in my PC (whenever i try the Read Device) it gives me error and closes the program (windows program not responding dialog).
I'm afraid it might crash in the middle of it if i try flashing and that would brick my device.
Is there a simple way to flash a new ROM? Is that the first thing I have to do in order to get a custom ROM say Ubuntdroid? It says I need a new recovery... but for that I need to downgrade first? It's a lot to do... and I don't really get the order in which I should do it all in...
Can somebody post me a little "do this, then do that, then finally do that" so that I can understand it all finally?
Thanks in advance, and sorry for long post, was trying to be as informative as possible.
This shows what happens when I try reading the phone on KDZ... also a little part showing that I got my device to be recognized by windows...
also disabled the LGE modem on device manager, read that if I don't it'll get bricked.
Well it won't let me link the image so... just paste the name together.

1. Find a suitable v2.2 stock ROM for flashing (link)
2. Use KDZ to flash it (I am not aware of another tool capable of doing that). Try doing that on a PC running Windows XP (important - that's where you're stuck now and I guess you're using Windows 7).
3. Root your phone - search for "z4root" on Market, install it.
4. Install Custom recovery, which will replace your current (stock) recovery mode (link - you may need to create an account on another forum in order to download).
5. Using Custom recovery you can now install any custom ROM and create nandroid backups to restore your phone to a certain (working) state.
You will have to use KDZ again if you ever want to flash a stock ROM, also losing the custom recovery. But you will have no reason to do that, except if you need to take your phone to some warranty repairs.
Good luck!
NEW PROBLEM: About step 1... i finally found a way to get my country's rom, but... it's.. the same thats on my device right now, it says V10a_02 and thats the same on my phone (the kdz read phone tells me that) so... won't I just be flashing the same 2.2.1 again?
http://csmg.lgmobile.com:9002/swdata/WEBSW/LGP500H/ABRABK/V10A_02/V10A_02.kdz <---- the rom the topic tells me to get.
How do I know what version of android is in that rom? and if i can't, can you link me to a rom that does?
I found one from another country that the guy said is 2.2... but... will it work if i flash that one? does it HAVE to be for my country? also my model is p500h (the h) is it different from the p500 (different as in flashing p500 without h roms on it will kill it?)
As for flashing it...
I think maybe a computer with win xp will do the trick for kdz.
i've found this post today:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=944881
is it better to use that than kdz? theres no replies on topic saying "hey it worked" so i'm a little worried, but apart from a few errors it seems to work on my win 7....
i guess the reply would be "i only know kdz, do it with kdz" but i thought i might ask...
Indeed, I have not tried that method and therefore I can't recommend it. At least KDZ is successfully tested. If you are patient enough to wait for some replies either here or in that topic, you may find out if it works. I would recommend it only if you have no other choice, like if you're unable to try KDZ on an XP machine.
In the mean time, I remembered that a newer version of Custom recovery is available (v1.2) - here. But you still need to download a file and read the tutorial from that other forum I mentioned in the previous post.
what about the first part of the post? i think i might have added that after you replied i don't know... asking about the rom i found if it isn't the same i have on my phone. and asking if i can just add another country's one...

First backup your data, then download a factory ROM, it doesn't matter which version u download, what matters is the version. Make sure that it's 2.2 and not 2.2.1 or 2.2.2. Follow all the below steps without skippin any, no matter how simple or stupid they are.
Link for shipped ROM - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=865479
Now download KDZ updater and uncompress it
http://www.4shared.com/file/UleS4dP3/KDZ_FW_UPD_EN.html
Install msxml.msi from the uncompressed directory
Charge your battery to almost full state (I'm not sure, but it can be reason if phone doesn't start)
Turn phone off somehow (remove battery etc.)
Install drivers properly
Get rid of all usb drivers like Nokia, microsoft visual ++ run time environments
Install the LG drivers by selecting the update manager from the lg site
Disable LGE Virtual Modem. In your Windows operating system, go to Control Panel > System > Hardware > Device Manager > Modems > Right click on LGE Virtual Modem and click Disable.
Press and keep pressed "Volume up"+"Return" and connect USB cable to phone
Yellow screen with text emergency mode should appeared
Shake the handset (I know, it sounds ... strange, but it helps for ones, so... why don't try it?) UPDATE: Read some quotes on bottom.
Run KDZ_FW_UPD.exe (Has administrator).
Select Type : 3GQCT (I have one report that CDMA mod works too)
Select PhoneMode : DIAG (in case of fail try EMERGENCY, and as last chance use CS_EMERGENCY)
I Recommend do not switch phone off. There was some people, which done it and after they was not be able to turn it on again. If flashing failed, just select some another mode and try it again, again, try shake/connect disconnect, again, again....
In KDZ file : Choose the ROM file you downloaded in the first step
Press Launch software update
Shake the handset (I know, it sounds ... strange, but it helps for ones, so... why don't try it?) UPDATE: Read some quotes on bottom.
Now Root it via Z4root - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=833953
Then install custom recovery - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=844483
Then download n flash any ROM of your choice, I wud sugget install Void or LOL.
Edit :- By the time I replied, many have already replied. Anyways you can check my reply too :-D
Mithun.
"it doesn't matter which version u download, what matters is the version."
does that mean it doesn't matter what country or operator the rom is for, as long as it is android version 2.2?
i have one from portugal (not my country) and that one is made for P500 mine is P500H... if that makes a difference i don't know, but i do know that rom is android 2.2. can i flash that one?
i also have one that i got from that topic following the instructions of putting my serial number, it linked me to a rom V10A_02... on KDZ when i try to read my device it says i have V10A_02 too. isn't that the same one i have now? with android 2.2.1? if it is it's very pointless to flash the same rom already in it.
any way to check?
because that is my last doubt ;p

As far as my knowledge goes, the LG P500h you have is the same phone as the P500, only branded for Telus. The hardware should be identical, therefore you may use any ROM designed for the P500 family.
The only thing you may miss if you install a ROM not customized for a Brasil (or South America) network operator is the internet acces point name, thus rendering your phone unable to acces the internet trough its data service connection, but only trough WiFi. Nevertheless, the phone's APN can be configured manually, all you need are the correct settings from your mobile operator and you're good to go.
Ok since you guys told me i can go ahead and flash any country ROM i just did and now my device burst into flames and then the flames consumed my apartment.
ok, not. it worked too well actually, i did the kdz procedure on my win 7 anyway, despite the errors when reading device info, and it took like, 1 minute, rebooted, took like 2 minutes on the android screen then it came back, with all my data still there... i thought it didn't do anything but... its now version 2.2
i tried z4root, worked ... got the superuser app and.... i'm happy ^^ thaaaanks!
anyway about the custom recovery thing..
i'm going to install the one in that post you gave me...
but i read something about the best one being clockwork something...
shouldn't i go ahead and install that one?
or can i do everything i need with this one you guys linked?

Glad that it worked Install the Amon_RA's recovery!!! Many ROM's for OO won't support clock work I suppose. Amon RA's recovery is neat, I've been using that from the time I had an HTC tattoo.

You can do anything you need with ThunderG. Now that version 1.2 supports backup and restore of ext4 partitons (a feature you don't need if you don't plan on installing a custom ROM... but you will, eventually ), it is complete.
Moreover, in ClockworkMod's first topic says: "This recovery will not allow you to flash every ZIP file". ThunderG does, if you choose to allow flashing of unsigned zip files. Sometimes this is useful.
Peeeeeerfect
Recovery installed, LOL ROM installed, all fast smooth and error-free.
no more screen touch lag, it's soooooo much faster now, overclocked, i have yet to test my emulators but i can only guess they're gonna be at least 150% better lol.
thank you all very much for taking the time to help me ^^
ONE LAST QUESTION: I PLAN ON BUYING A NEW SD CARD, JUST PLUG IT IN AND IT'LL FORMAT THEN CREATE THE NEEDED FILES THEN I INSTALL STUFF BACK ON IT, SIMPLE AS THAT?
Simple as that =D
Although there are some criteria with the sd card or you'll get unmounting problems.
Use a class 4 or higher card
format with fat32
I've never officially tried this method but its apparently supposed to help
allocation unit size: 64kb when you're formatting

So, how does it goes?!
I´m brazilian too, got a brand new LG Optimus One from ViVo, and a want to know if you´re having any troubles with conections, calls, internet, 3G etc.
OK, id did the flash
I´m afraid that if flash any custom rom, it will break or cause any misfuncition of the 3g service.
Any idea?!
== Updated
Ok, I´ve flashd it with KDZ and the log show´s thats all ok
"14:34:45 : ===FINISHED=== "
BUt its taking like FOREVER to start... almost 30min on android screen. Is this normal?! Should i restart the phone?!
leave it some more time , try shaking it ...
shake trick sometimes helps
Help please..
I did as instructed in the step to step procedures. kdz posted finished but my phone is still at the yellow screen..i did shaking but nothing happens..Is this normal?..SHould i wait..
I have an unrooted HTC Aria (AT&T) that i upgraded to Froyo a couple of weeks ago. I have been using it for a while and i don't like the performance with the new upgrade, it used to be a LOT snappier before.
I would like to know if its possible to revert the phone to Factory Defaults (Eclair 2.1) and where i can get the ROM since HTC is no longer providing it in its website.
I'm not interested in rooting my phone nor custom roms i just want it the way it was at the moment I took it off the box and turned it on for the first time.
If the downgrade is possible I would really appreciate if someone could provide a list of steps to follow to make it happen.
Thanks in advance.
Check out this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=971119. You can but you will still have the updated HBOOT (Bootloader). You will have to use the ROM linked in post 3 (Original 2.1 Rom)
P.S - Search before starting new threads on the same topic.

This is the original ship ROM. I downloaded this back when I first got my phone (first day the Aria was released) and have kept it for future use. This was even before they added the ability to receive OTA updates, so you won't even have to worry about being notified about the 2.2.2 OTA update.
Now, you should be able to just run this and have it downgrade everything (except HBOOT, but that isn't a problem unless you want to root). I haven't actually done it before but it should work.
If it doesn't work, there is another way that will definitely work, but I'll explain that if the need arises. Let me know if you run into any problems.

Nope. Not possible since you don't want to root your device.

It is possible. You can downgrade everything except the HBOOT. (Meaning, he will have the original ROM like he wants but be unable to use Unrevoked, which he doesn't care about.)

That post I made was a mistake. That's why I edited it. Sorry I didn't get to change it in time.

To be honest the advice from those threads is not really very good anyway. You don't need temp root on your device. There are easier methods that ought to work fine. Namely, just putting the 2.1 RUU zip as LIBEIMG.zip on your SD card. But from what I've read, even just running the RUU should be enough.
(Nevermind, this doesn't work.)
Thanks for you advice, in fact did some research before creating the thread, but all the threads i found were about people who wanted to downgrade to get the root back, so they were either redirected to other threads or were given a lot information not relevant to what i really need.

Don't give up yet. This next method should work if that one didn't.
Download this file: http://www.mediafire.com/?ct1ay7t93d8g742
Rename the zip file as LIBEIMG.zip (don't extract it) then place it on your SD card (not in a subfolder).
Then turn the phone completely off, and press VOL DOWN + power to turn the phone back on. It should detect the file after a couple seconds and start flashing it automatically. At this point just be patient for a minute or two, then press VOL UP key to start the update process when it asks you to. After that, be patient while it does everything. It takes about 5 minutes to finish installing everything and will reboot once during the process. After it's done (it will tell you when it's done), the phone will reboot and there will be a scary looking screen but JUST WAIT about 10 seconds and it will boot normally. Then you're good to go.
After you're done with this, make sure to DELETE the LIBEIMG.zip file from your SD card. Otherwise it will ask you every time you go into HBOOT if you want to apply the update.
Good luck.

Unfortunately this method doesn't work either, it throws an error that says "Main Version is older, Update Fail!"
I could have sworn I've read about this working before. I would have tested it first myself but I don't have a phone that isn't S-OFF. Sorry for making you jump through hoops.
You could try the methods in the other threads linked above. I guess you do need temp root to do a downgrade.
Alternatively, you could use AlphaRevX to S-OFF, install Clockwork, and install the factory original, unrooted ROM. The downside of this is that it requires voiding your warranty if you have one.
Easiest way would be to run the official 2.2 RUU update from HTC. 100% stock.

He wants to return to android 2.1 so that wouldn't help whatsoever. Plus he already did that which is why he wants to downgrade.
Oh my bad, I didn't read the whole thread. Hmm why do you want to downgrade to 2.1?

This is the reason which he said in his post:"I don't like the performance with the new upgrade, it used to be a LOT snappier before."

One question... I have HTC Gratia, which is operator free, so can I restore your original (backuped) ROM on my phone and update it, so I can use it just like original one?
Ok, you know, today I got my phone, I had been waiting forever, I got it and within 2 hours I screwed it up. I have followed and followed many forums and posts on how to fix this, and I am just.. lost. So please i need your help, I am seriously stressing out, and I know I shouldnt, but this is my first android phone. I am shot right now.
I had unlocked the bootloader, and then I tried to root it, then it rebooted and went into bootloop mode or whatever it is.
I still cannot figure out how to use this Hasoons2000's OX+ AIO kit. So I am just leaving it alone.
Ok the PC doesn't recognize it as a storage device, but the fastboot does recognize it, as I have executed a few commands, like reboot or something, just to test that it works.
My phone is ATT but I am in Russia so there is no sending this anywheres. All I want to do is reboot the OS and have it work again, I dont care what mod or stock rom it is, I just really need some direction here.
I know something about RUU, ATT RUU, Fastboot, some other stuff, I have like 5 pages on XDA pulled up and I cant figure this out.
What is the CMW or TWRP or whatever it is called? How do I flash a zip or an img to the phone? I really just want my phone on again.
Yes Ive done stupid noob stuff, but you learn. So please I am kindly asking for any assistance,
No need to stress. Its fairly hard to brick your phone, good way to learn quick also is to screw with it.
Just need the right guide and I think this will help you since u have fastboot access hopefully. Its a pain rebuiling so read everything so u only have to do it once.
Remember these guides are for different phones so don't use the ruu or recovery links, user my links below.
Your phone is:
AT&T(Evitare)

Or this guide:

This is for another phone so you need to choose an ATT ruu from here for step 1:
Your phone is a HTC One X+ for AT&T(Evitare)*

More info here for custom recoveries etc which is cwm and twrp for deploying roms, backing up your current installed Rom and general tools for fixing or enhancing your phone, displayed prior to your phone booting into android:

thank you very much I really appreciate your help. I finally figured out the ruu.exe thing, I didnt know they had to be the same numbers, ex 1.15.xxx.xx or whatever.
You see what happened originally was that I unlocked the bootloader, easy pie, but I tried to root it and that is when it started looping. Maybe I didnt understand something, but I seemed to have messed up right there.
Is there really any reason to root? I mean yeah there is super user, but doesnt bootloader help with that a bit? I know BL is for flashing custom roms and all.
May I ask how to flash a custom rom? I really want all of this ATT stuff off of my phone, I really dislike it.
Yes I know I can search, here, google etc. And maybe I should, but I end up getting so many different results, and here and there, and this and that. It really is just easier to talk to one single person who knows what they are doing. So if you could help me, I would again extend my appreciation.
Also I have the android revolution for ox+, and I dont know if it is.. you know.. THE BEST or not. Dont know what to do.
And yes, you live and learn, took me forever with iphones, then I realized hacking and roms and stuff were completely different from iphone. So new game new story.
