I Have had this new pda one day yes today and ive managed to f**k it up already
it had windows mobile 5 on it and i wanted to upgrade it to wm6 so i could use flo touch and get the better graphics well i tried at updating and reflashing but all i got was errors and now when i turn it on i get the orange bootloader screen with the text:-
IPL 2.10.0001
SPL 2.10.0001
GSM 02.07.20
OS 10.2.0.8
but nothing else it is now not recognise by the pc and will not boot up even after a hard reset!
please someone help me get through this problem quick!?!

In activesync, disable connect through USB.
Run the RUU you downloaded above.
i have downloaded and installed active sync 4.5 as directed on a pc running windows xp and disabled connect through usb by right clicking it on the desktop in the taskbar and clicking connection settings then un-checking the usb connect box. then i connected my prophet and it installed it as a PocketPC USB Sync of something like that and it appears in my computer as a mobile device but when i click it it has nothing in it so i ran the RUU and it asked to update the ROM so i followed the steps but it asked me to make an active sync connection which i cant because the prophet wont turn on after the bootloader the pc recognised it when it was switched off. PLEASE SOMEONE HELP!?!
Unplug the prophet.
Manually enter bootloader and reconnect the device.
then try reflashing the ROM.
Just continue with the RUU unless it gives an error.
i have just right clicked it under device manager and it is recognised as "Windows CE USB Devices" then expands to "PocketPC USB Sync" but how do i manually edit the bootloader if that it was i still have to do sorry im a newbie to this stuff as i said ive only had it one day
it is recognized in the device hardware section but it says there is a fault or something i dont know. there is nothing wrong with the prophet i am 100% sure its just recognised as that because its not turning on properly i think. how do i manually edit the bootloader and what would i need to edit sorry im a newbie at this stuff as you know ive only had it one day and all this because i wanted flo touch
Start up the device normally. Then, press and hold the Comm manager button whilst reseting (stylus into the hole to the left of the power socket). Now, plug the device into the computer and run the RUU.

Do you know how i can put on the flo touch ? when i send across the cab file it installs but doesnt show anything i just clicked on about aswell on the device and it says its still windows mobile 5 ? is it really windows mobile 6 ? i just really want flo touch ?

That ROM is WM5. I would suggest updating to a WM6 ROM such as one of Cloudyfas ROMs. Search for it and read all the relavent threads.
To launch the cube, swipe your finger from the top of the screen to the bottom of the screen.
the touch edition or clean edition mate ?
Touch edition will have Touch Flo.
use Prophet Tools to make it faster...

The touch flo cube should activate in the way i said above.
ok so i have downloaded the little extra on the page of the ShadoW Touch ROM and its called ShadoW Cube and i have installed it yet nothing happens its not even in the device menus. do i need to upgrade it like you said with this tool and how ?
The cube only starts when you slide your finger fRom the bottom of the screen to the top...

I'm new on the forum, very informative but I could'nt find an answer to this situation. I have a HTC Advantage 7500 that originally came with mobile 5 on it and last year I successfully upgraded it to mobile 6. Couple of days ago I wanted to try something new so I upped it to 6.5 via a link on this site somewhere. The rom update went smoothly but I would like to go to 6.1 because for one the micro drive is not seen under the 6.5 that I have plus it has a slow response to screen manuvers and such. Now when I try to install mobile 6 or 6.1 it says please wait while the update takes place but my device restarts and the error #260 box comes up that says the update utility cannot connect to your PDA phone. Please check your USB connection. I would appreciate any help or suggestions. I know maybe I was wrong to try the mobile 6.5 on this. confused:
Since you are able to use 6.5, (it was a spl 3.5 version unless you
had found and used a spl 1.2) your phone should be having spl 3.5.
You need to search and download 6.1 spl 3.5 rom to change it.

Thanks for your reply. I do now have the file 6.1 spl 3.5 but my device on 2 separate computers it just starts the update restarts my 7500 then the error message about USB connection. I didnt get this error the last 2 times I updated my device. Thanks in advance.
Taking it your pc (Windows XP) with anti virus and firewall disable.
Try flash back previous rom and have the device working first before going
any further.
Best to use same usb cable and port from same computer for your flashing. It helps to isolate problems in future.
Ensure device battery charge is above 60%, at least.
Remove SIM and memory cards before flashing.
I am sorry to hear that you're having problems with your device......however, the problem you've mentioned sounds quite familiar to me but I don't remember how I actually got mine fixed.
I have no idea what OS you're using but
try this:
re-installing activesync/device center then put your device in bootload mode (by holding down the camera button...fully....then press the reset button, keep holding camea button until the colored screen comes up. connect your phone to your computer and let it install the usb drivers.
after thats done, unplug, wait....replug and start up acticesync/device center make sure they're connected/synced then try changing the rom again.

that's the problem...your SPL should be 3.5 if you're on wm6.5. it is interesting that you got that instead of "invalid Model id" error. all in all I think the same method should solve your problem.
do a search for "invalid model id" and check out the post by cmonex she did a great job in creating a salutation. hopefully you had Hard SPLed your phone and that you had a home network that you had connected your phone so you can get back your phone's MAC address.

I am using a new usb cable and the same thing happens. It says its starting to update the rom then it restarts my 7500 and error 260 comes up saying that it cannot connect to my device check your usb connection. I don't understand...

Rather than hijacking other threads I thought it might be of help to others if I start a new one.
Having spent hours trawling thru the other threads I have now concluded that I need the help of one of the wise sages such as Cmonex or Olipro.
I decided that a thread might benefit others rather than just pm'ing them.
Ages ago i bricked my ameo.
I had upgraded to spl 3.5 and had been playing with one of michy's roms. Whilst the rom worked fine the boot-up splash screen had become corrupted, I also noticed that the camera had stopped working/initialising.
In an attempt to get the camera back I tried various other roms and decided to downgrade to spl1.2 so that I could go back to a stock rom. In a moment of stupidity I accidentally tried to reflash using a spl3.5 rom.
This resulted in a invalid model id message.
In desperation I did the old vol key down and reset pin. Told the ameo to restore.
From that point onwards the unit is no longer recognised by my pc, in the tricolour boot screen it initialises and says loading 0058002 and then displays
IPL-v1.00
SPL-v1.20 Olipro
I have tried the mtty option, using different computers and different leads, have even tried running the program from the root c: to no avail.
The problem is that whilst in boot loader screen on connection to the pc there is no usb option displayed, nor is there a usb option in the mtty drop-down list.
Pdajoy kindly suggested using a mini sd card to flash the unit. I purchased a micro sd with a mini adapter. Formatted the card to fat32, renamed the ndc file booted to the tri colour boot screen and hit reset. All that happens is that is tries to boot the old fecked o/s and gets as far as a blank grey screen and no further.
I really do miss my ameo- the screen on my touch pro is just too small!!!
Any help will be greatly appreciated.

I had renamed the files ATHEIMG.nbh, the reference in my post above is a typo. There was no sim in the phone either.
The screen after it tries to load the old corrupt rom is just a grey mass- nothing else, no text or images.
The two pics listed show the ameo booting and then the grey screen.

I found a way to bring back the normal bootloader you just have tu press the reset button then you press the camera button and you will have your bootloader again
IT IS NOT WORKING you get back to the original bootloader but when you want to put back a rom even the official one after 1 percent it gets back to the grey screen PLEASE HELP
Srry athena works again place the mmty tool with mac bin file in the root of c and try again dont forget the task 32 command before the bin command that worked for me
I had the same exact problem (even the screen was the same) and didn't realize that the initial screen that shows up isn't the bootloader. fixed it by waiting for the grey/white screen, holding the volume button down then reset button and camera button + reset which brought me to the actual bootloader. From there I installed the latest AP rom, updated my radio and installed mitchy's 6.1

It looks like you did the wifi fixx correctly but the rom is still corrupted
Go into bootloader to confirm your SPL and then flash an spl appropriate rom

You have confirmed that you have spl1.2 by quoting what you have seen in the tricolor screen.
Get back into that screen , making sure you have removed the sim and sd card and then conect to your computer via the usb cable.
You would have downloaded an spl1.2 rom ( you previously stuffed the radio by trying to flash an spl3.5 rom) and then run the romupdateutility .exe .
then you should be sweet!
having read a reply of cmonex to another post I am starting to think that all hope is lost.
It seems that if windows is unable to recognise the phone it is possibly the case that it is completely f*cked!!!
It would be nice if someone could clarify this...

Once you finished doing mtty, did you reenable usb in activesync as per this post

the other thought was is the usb cable and the usb port able to sync with other wm devices? maybe the slot on your athena is faulty?

It is possible that the usb port is faulty but it seems improbable that this should have failed at exactly the same time as me stuffing up the O/S.
I will try to find the cmonex post to which I am refering later today (the one that suggests that the phone is stuffed).

Go and try get the original rom then enter bootloader mode to flash.Flashing may only be done on xp computers.Get the original rom from this xda site go 4shared.com or the original phone brand site
how to:
1. charge your device
2. make sure you have activesync installed.. if installed you will see an ActiveSync icon on the lower right part of your desktop right click it click connection settings and UNCHECK allow USB connections then press comm+cam +soft reset button to force your device on bootloader, you should see USB on the lower left screen of your device.
3. Download the NVID_RUU.zip extract it and RUN ( it has only one RUU, so it doesnt matter if your device is G3 or G4 )
4. after flashing the RUU and its succesfull try allowing USB connection again on Active Sync..
5. if its still not working.. try downloading the PV_Temp NVID RUU, i dont have a copy of this so try searching for this in the forums..

My mobile at&t 8525 alias HTC 8525 is stuck in windows operator logo.It would not boot further. It happened while I tried to upgrade it from Windows 5.0 to Windows 6.0.First I got a tri-colour screen,but in a hurry I tried to backgrade to windows 5.0 again.
Other problem the mobile cannot be synced. I have installed Microsoft Active sync 4.5. Even then it could not be synced.
I tried to read all the posts ,but could not understand anything.
So please help me in getting my mobile repaired
Don't worie.
I had somewhat the same issue with a bad ROM flash.
Just disconnect the USB and boot to the bootloader screen (the tricolour screen) and you should be able to reflash the phone again.
Problem in syncing the mobile
I am not able to sync the mobile to the laptop.I have installed Microsoft Active sync 4.5. Even then it is not syncing.So how could I run the hermes upgrade if the mobile is not helping.

In Activesync on PC - Untick "Allow USB Connections".
Put the Hermes into bootloader (tri-colour screen) and connect by usb. Run the RUU_Wrapper.exe file you want. Follow onscreen instructions.
You need to have installed Hard SPL V7 for this to work...

you dont need an active sync connection to flash it. Enter bootloader(tri colour screen) as you were told in the previous posts and Just click on the boxes that you do have a connection(even though you dont) and then flash the rom.
@ultramag69 i hve never had to untick allow usb connections and i have cocked up loads of rom flashes, saying that i have never had a problem flashing in vista either so maybe i am lucky
If you still cant flash doing it this way, then maybe you should try flashing from sd card instead, just make sure the battery is fully charged. Full instructions of how to do this are found in the hermes wiki, which i advise you to read anyway.
Oh and good luck anyway, you should be able to recover the phone from this ,so i wouldnt fret too much

check the wiki pages for your device in the upper bar of this web forums
there are many official roms.
I also am currently using an 8525 (Herm100). It was received from an Ebay deal with WM5. I flashed it with the ATT OEM WM6pro (aka shipped wm6). Once it hit the three color boot screen, it sat on that for a couple of minutes then started cooking. Once it showed a progress bar, it took about 3 minutes to cook the WM6 over the WM5. It also showed a popup that stated going back to WM5 was not an option.
I would suggest running the installer again and going down to 7-11 for a refreshment. You may not have let it percolate long enough to set itself up for the actual ROM overwriting.

Hi all, I'm new here so this is my first post
I recently saw on Youtube the new WM 6.5 wich rocks, its very cool, and I wand to upgrade my phone to this new version. I currently have the latest offical version that is WM 6.1.
So I have this HTC Touch Dual, or Nike, 16 keys version from Orange, I'm pretty sure its also locked on this network so I need to unlock it as I read this is necessary.
I still have my warranty so I would like to make some sort of backup after all of the system files ( Rom, Radio, etc ) in case I fail to upgrade it.
So I now this may be an annoying question but because I saw many threads with unlocking software and ROMs, can you give me a link to thread where there are steps to backup, unlock and flash WM 6.5 to a Nike.

I'm trying to use the sspl-1.16-nike as in the instructions, but when I click on it it gives me "The file 'sspl-1.16-nike' cannot be opened. Either is is not signed with a trusted certificate or one of its components cannot be found.....
I tried several times. I removed the card and SIM and at boot it gives me an exact error for some programs that I have installed on the card like SPB keyboard and iContact.
What should I do ?
1. Disable the keylock/password on your phone
2. Download the attached files
3. REMOVE SIM and SD CARDS !!
4. Connect usb cable
5. Make sure either Activesync or WMDC is synced with the device rather then just being connected via usb!
6. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)
7. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
8. unplug and replug the usb cable
9. Then flash the hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-hardspl-niki directory
10. You should see progress bar on device and be flashed in about 3-5min

* Keep hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.nbh for later use, I'll tell you when you're finished
God damn Windows Mobile, it doesn't work either way.
Now I tried to put back my SD card and guess what : None if my applications work anymore, even the ones installed on the phones memory like Password Master of iContact, nothing works. What the hell happened with this phone. I have no security lock or passwords, just SIM code but that doesn't matter cause the SIM is out, I don't have card encryption enabled.
Ah, and one more thing, I think it worked the first 2 seconds cause I saw the 4 colors screen popping up after I tried to open sspl-1.16-nike.exe but then the error pops up and it dissapeared.
Yes I waited until the phone was synchronized with ActiveSync.
Backup everything, do a hard reset and try again, this method should work flawless, if it doesnt then there must be some instability coming from your device
Ok I will try as I see its already messed up anyway.
How do I do hard reset ? I know its some sort of pressing some combination of buttons !
P.S : Nevermind, I found out
OK it worked, everything worked fine.
The process reached 100%, the phone restarted and on the PC it gave me Success.
Now what ?
P.S : After the restart the phone entered the Customization mode again, and the Orange stuff started to install again, is that bad ? Does that mean the the hardspl didin't worked ?
turn off the phone and while holding down the camera button, switch it on, that will enter the bootloader and show you hardSpl version..

turn off the phone and while holding down the camera button, switch it on, that will enter the bootloader and show you hardSpl version..

Alright, that's great, you now have hardSpl installed.
Do you plan on using a different sim card in the phone..? maybe O2 or something, if so you will need to do a CID and security unlock, this is needed for some roms, but not for all of them.
Then lastly you need to flash to a newer radio..
So, first things first, do you plan on using a different SIM..?

I think I know the radio version
When I start the phone on the Orange splash screen it shows some numbers, among them there is a line wich says :
R: 1.65.29.22
Is that the radio version ?

I felt the exact same way a week ago..
You Radio is fine, I use the same one, usualy if you see a nice rom, the poster will let you know what Radio and hardSpl you need.
So now, you will flash HardSpl 1.22
Just use the guide I posted, but delete hardspl-1.15mfg-nike.nbh from the "flash-hardspl-niki" directory. Copy hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.nbh back into it and just follow the instructions from here on...
6. copy sspl-1.16-nike.exe to your device and run it (usb cable must be connected!)
7. after a few seconds "USB" appears on the display
8. unplug and replug the usb cable
9. Then flash the hardspl-1.22-nike-shipped.nbh by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe from flash-hardspl-niki directory
When you're done, report back again and we'll flash your first rom...
You can choose between Windows Mobile 6.1 and 6.5, but most of the 6.5 roms are pretty slow.
You can try this rom, it's brilliant, but based on 6.1

Ok it worked, I started the phone again in boot mode and it shows SPL-1.22.Hard
I really want the new 6.5 version, I have the 6.1 since I bought the phone but I really like the new 6.5 type, the icons, scrollbars and such.
Can you recommend me a very good 6.5 ROM, I really like the slider type desktop, where you have tha phone, calendar, text and you slide the magnifier over the option you want.

I have installed the ROM you suggested.
Nice options and nice effects, but I like the WM 6.5 vertical slide thingy, like in this video http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jFjPVpyGvsk
I wait for you to recommend a good and clean WM 6.5 ROM
P.S : I didn't know there are different "desktops" available with different names, but I find the one in the above youtube clip very handy and simple, as well as the new menu when you press the Start button.

Whats the difference between the Full and Lite? I want the menu like the Lite has and the keyboard the Full has
I will install Lite and check it out
The Lite version uses Titanium (The one you want)
The Full version uses manilla like the first one you flashed
