Camera slow -- how to fix? - 8525, TyTN, MDA Vario II, JasJam Software Upgradin

The camera is slow on my 8525 (WM6). I press the button and 2-3 seconds later, the picture is taken. I saw a fix on here but it wasn't a CAB file so I didn't know how to use it...
Can anyone recommend a proceedure to fix this annoying issue?

I don't know of a cab that does the fix, the registry key is mentioned on the Camera Shutter Delay Fix Cab Request thread below in this forum and is easy to do.

Thanks for the info and the link. I've made the registry change therein and will see if it performs any more quickly.
Thanks again.

Try this... On my hermes, it will help and camera capture is very fast, after this registry modification...
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE/SOFTWARE/HTC/Camera/Captparam/
DeleyTime (set to1)

Thanks for your message. I've modified my registry.

phone skin

Has anyone had success in completely replacing phone skins? I've noticed that the main dialer pad defaults to the original theme when pressed. I had hoped that the 2003 version might fix this but it seems not.
Yes, everithing is gifs, only pressed number key it is harcoded somewhere in program resources. I thing, that it could be phone.dll or PhonePH.dll.
Thanks, thats what I thought, a bit beyond my skill level I'm afraid! I'll just leave it as it is

TPDisable seems to be kicking in randomly!

:? I have an intermittent problem in that my screen locks up at random times. It is only the screen locking up as the buttons still work. Its almost as if TPDisable.exe is running (but I removed if from the device)!!
Does anyone have a copy of TPEnable.exe that they could post? I would like to create a button shortcut to it so if the screen locks up again I can try to enable it again.
Or does anyone know of a similar problem and, more importantly, a solution?
Cheers All.
I've the TPDisable and TPEnable from my Dutch Orange ExtRom.
Have fun with it.
What does exactly the TPDisable and TPEnable do? :?
Regards,
Primoz
TPDisable is nothing more than disable you to use touch screen.
TPEnable is the same as it name it make you enable to use touch screen.
I had that problem too. In my case ,it occur in two program.
The first is Calligrapher and The second is spb Pocketplus.
Please check this two program before try to use TPEnable.
Thanks for the files, Krypt. I'll see if I can find a solution with them.
Tumtum, I have Calligrapher and PocketPlus but I don't know what I can do to avoid the problem apart from uninstalling them!
Just to update:-
I've added TPEnable to HotButtonPlus and when the screen locks up I simply select TPEnable using the HotButtonPlus button and it re-enables the screen. Not ideal I know but it saves a soft reset every time.

Camera Shutter Delay Fix Cab Request

Hello,
Does anyone have a cab version of the HTC camera delay fix cab. It is suppose to greatly reduce the time that the shutter releases from when the button is pressed. Searched this site and the internet with no luck.
I did find a post where a version that can be cooked into roms exists, but no cab.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showpost.php?p=1676838&postcount=24
Note: The cab I am looking for is not the one that reduces the delay when storing videos on a memory card on the ELF.
Thanks in advance.
did you find a solution for this ?
As far as i can see all the above HTC camera delay fix in the link does is change the Delay value in [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\HTC\Camera\Captparam]
I think the default is 10 (0000000a) the reg fix changes this to 1.
You could try this out yourself with any of the free registry editors and see if it helps with your problem.

[HOWTO]Enable Photo Capture with ZOOM in New Elfin Camera

Hey Guys,
Although i know that this could also be told in some other thread also, i thought it wont be noticed by many if i do so. So I decided to make a new thread.
As many of you know that some times ago, our beloved Ankit360 shared the Elfin Camera OEM with us and from that time almost all the ROMs created by ME and Ankit have this camera.
Now one of the shortcomings of this camera oem is that it doesn't supports photo capture while zooming in normal picture mode although it seems to be supported, but the taken pictures were not saved. With the original camera also this was not possible in normal mode but there was a workaround to use the Burst mode for that. But the new camera misses the burst mode too so that is a big trouble.
The tweak i am talking about here will enable the Burst Mode which doesn't actually works like burst mode ( or i may not know how to use it properly) but it does let you save pictures taken while zooming with the camera.
So here it is :
Take any registry editor, like the DotFred's task manager's regedit, and navigate to :
Code:
[B][HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\HTC\Camera\P6] [/B]
and here change the value of Enable to 1. Create the value as a DWROD is its not present already.
Thats it, you'll have a new mode in the camera.
Thanks for Karan999 for sharing with me the diamond tweaks page which lists this tweak.
thanks for tweak :>
Thanks a million for the tweak
@Ankit and Addicted: My Pleasure Actually i was playing around with registry and i found this and suddenly, by chance, karan999 sent me the link to this same thing I felt sort of weired
i try out this it's not at working
How come man, its working for me completly fine. Do it, then a soft reset and then look at the camera, go to its controls, click the button in the bottom-middle of the screen and choose Burst Mode. Then try zooming and taking pictures. In normal mode it will not save the picture as before. You have to go into Burst Mode.
whos piks did u zoom
hi
i can guess whos piks u zoomed in on
any way i have not tried this as i really don't use the camera at all and im getting real busy after a long time

Can anyone please provide me a registry editor software?
From your signature it seems like you are using my 6.5 ROM, there is a utility in it called TaskManager2, it is actually the DotFred's task manager that i have talked about in post no 1. so just start it, goto the Regedit tab and do the needful.

Ya, i am too searching for some another tweak for that. Actually untill i didn't touch settings of camera, it was taking one pic only. But after i touched settings, it is now taking 20 pics in a row. Although this is what the Burst mode is for , but lets see if it can be controlled

Disable the camera?

I have a Cingular 3125. I'm changing jobs, and the new one does not allow camera phones. I don't use the camera, anyway. They say it's OK if the camera is present but disabled, but physically covering the lens is not (even though I think sandpaper would do a pretty good job of making it useless).
Is there an easy way to disable the camera (both camera button and the apps) that will survive a reset? Hopefully, something as simple as a registry and menu edit (OK, I could undo that, but they won't know that) or a CAB to load. Changing to another version of the ROM is an acceptible option, but I'm not really one for cooking my own ROM and I've not seen any 6.x ROMs for the 3100 (camera-less 3125) or ones that list no camera function.
Found some messages from folks who lost and wanted to regain the camera function but nothing the opposite or even a clue as to what unintentionally disabled the camera so I could do the same intentionally.
you can replace the Short_Camera.lnk (and maybe the Long_Camera.lnk) in the windows directory with a shortcut that points to another app. This would stop the camera button from starting the camera app, but it wont totally disable the camera, as you can still manually launch the camera app.
Your other option would be of course to physically disable the camera. Its just plugged in to you can remove the actual camera.
just delete a registry key
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Drivers\BuiltIn\Camera]
and reboot

Wouldn't let me delete the key, but changing the Dll REG_SZ to nothing or an illegal name seems to do it. Camera button now brings up "Pictures & Videos" and both the Video Recorder and Camera apps fail to work. I thought changing SensorType from 1 to 0 would do it, but it doesn't seem to have any effect.
Thanks for the speedy reply. Might have found it by myself, but wouldn't have known not to mess with the other Camera keys.

Hoping Erofich's solution is good enough for them. Don't want to go that far, but will if it's the only way to keep my precious 3125.
I'm not sure how an easily reversed registry-edit would by sufficient if sandpapering the lens isn't.
Physically removing the camera isn't that hard to do, there is an instruction on how to disassemble the phone here with pictures:
http://www.modaco.com/content/strtr...sembling-htc-strtrk-8500-s300-f600-smartflip/
Taking the camera out really shouldn't be too tricky, here is picture of it:
http://www.modaco.com/index.php?act=attach&type=post&id=19448
You could probably also just put a little bit of tape over the camera and then close the phone back up, which would be the least destructive way of disabling the camera with it being sufficiently hard to re-enable for a reasonable employer.
