i think your using an incorrect ROM or your using the incorrect phone/unit. this is for himalayas/ andes. i think youmay be using a rom for something else or your phone is something else. correct me if i'm wron seniors....
nope, im very sure that my phone is a hima, and the roms are for hima to. or O2 XDA II
hi, i have exactly the same problem for month, i didn't manage it by now, there mus be way, just keep asking and tell me when you get it
please can someone upload image of sd card prepared for flashing?
I have same problem, in nomal mode and bootloader mode my PC cant recognize my himalaya,
in Device manager my himalaya detected as UNKNOWN DEVICE,
i tried in several PC's but got the same problem,
nt : i use pcsync v 4.0 , 4.2 and 4.5 but
i think its an hardware-error,,
as i said before as far as i know nobody here ever managed to flash their himalaya from a sdcard
one reason it dont work with usb could be a bad cradle or connector
had plenty of those where i had to wiggle with them to get connection
here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HimalayaBootloaderSdCardFlashing is "how to" flash hima from sd card, so it is possible, unfortunetly i cant connect via usb, so i cant prepare sd card. Btw i think it is clearly software problem in my case, i flashed some bad version (it was for hima), since then problems has releasing, my sms client break down, usb down, canot install corectly many programs, etc. So please, make someone image of prepared sd card, it will be usefull for many others, now my hima is nothing than brick
a sdcard reader is only about 10€ can that not be used?
no, command for backuping rom to sd card must be entered from terminal program from pc using usb
hi, i tried whit some pc,and is the same nothing works.its something whit the rom, because everything started in the upgrade. please someone help us!! if anyone get the sd image please reply here
ANYONE who have hima and right-working os on it can made os backup to sd. It is just three commands as i hope, minute of working, so help pls. Just get mtty (//http://wiki.xda-developers.com/uploads/mtty.exe), connect ppc to pc, and type these (http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HimalayaBootloaderSdCardFlashing) commands.
think here is absolutely clearly guide
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=BackupExistingRom
i cannot open by mtty, every time i try by mtty says that i cant open usb port. how i do that??????
you cant, same as me, it must be done by someone with working usb
i cant sync via bluetooth either
i found at ALPIN board very simple using sd-card methode,
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=341564
maybe next time will able for xda-II that have error connection
yes, of course this method can be applyed for xdaII as well, but still, there is problem that noone is enought willing to do backup image that he don't need for his own reason.
Hi Everyone
First of all I'd like to thank everyone who contributes to this wonderful community. It made it very easy for a complete newcomer like me to install the Modaco custom rom on my hero and I've found answers to nearly all my other queries in the forums here.
I now have a problem I can't fix though and was hoping for some advice or help.
When I plug my Hero into my computer via the USB cable Windows has now started saying "USB device not recognised" and the phone does not acknowledge the connection other than charging. The error message says "One of the USB devices attached to this computer has malfunctioned and Windows does not recognise it".
I've tried all the USB ports and other USB devices and they work fine so I think it must be related to the phone. Tried powering off the PC and phone numerous times but hasn't helped.
I'm confused as it was working fine until recently and I can't think of what I've changed.
Can anyone help or offer any suggestions?
Thanks!
Just realised I've put this in completely the wrong forum. Sorry!
Can it be moved or should I repost in the correct forum?
Cheers

hope this helps
Thanks Liamhere.
Update- tried it on my work PC with same result.
I guess it confirms it's either the wire or the phone?

Try to download the HTC drivers from the HTC support or Android 1.6 SDK and reinstall the USB driver again.
Thanks for your suggestions and anyone else who has been racking their brains for me.
It was, after loads of fiddling with settings and drivers etc aproblem with the USB wire.
My new one arrived in the post and now the phone syncs up fine. Phew!
Old wire is now relegated to "charging only" duties.
I just got my phone back from repair and I'm trying to install HardSPL. The installer for some reason isn't able to tell that the phone is connected and even though the phone says "USB" in the bootloader, HSPL doesn't see it.
HSPL is just stuck saying "Waiting for USB..."
Any hints? I'm using windows 7

make sure u are conected to the internet for driver update
chek your cable ))
make sure that your usb connection is set to active sync (on your device)
I had already tried all of the above and it didn't work.
(with regards to the activesync thing, the HSPL installer automatically took my phone into bootloader mode. So I don't think there was any issue there)
In the end, I just went and used a different computer.
I have a laptop, and i had the same problem. My solution was to connect my phone through another usb port on my computer (main usb port) try it with the other usb ports.
Hope this helped you

Hmmm interesting....
However, the same USB port on my computer works for flashing ROMs and Radios so I doubt that is the problem. In fact, I used the same USB port for flashing the NRG rom straight after I hard spl'd my phone!
My solution was to just use another computer.
Thanks for your response. Hopefully this thread might help some guy in the future in a similar situation.

actually just cos a port works for flashing means nothing. you can flash and sync through case mounted ports and usb hubs, but hspl won't work on those same ports.
Hi I have a T-Mobile Vibrant and everything was working excellent till today... I took some pictures on the beach and when my girlfriend asked me for the pictures, I plugged the phone to the PC but it didn't recognized the phone. I had installed the samsung vibrant drivers but it is not working! I cant even use the AIO Vibrant Toolbox to put it in download mode for flashing to stock! Im desperate! Please Help! Hope is not a dead usb port!
Things I tried:
Factory Reset
Change the USB Port
Format Internal Memory
Try these drivers;
http://drivers.softpedia.com/dyn-postdownload.php?p=96692&t=4&i=1
EDIT:
Make sure you remove previous drivers, and reboot your comp.
not workin
Hi I tried using those drivers but they didn't work... I formatted my pc tio see if it was a problem with pc but everything is the same... Vibrant knows it is connected it sounds when connected... Pc just says unrecognized device... Dont know what to do... What else can I do...?
try to go to computer->control pannel->remove new device (vibrant) , reainstall drivers (without phone connected) , connect your phone let windows find Your phone )
if that didnt help 1.before windows boots press F8 which will boot you in tree which will give you few options , 2 click on option which says DISABLE SIGNATURE VERIFICATION 3. REINSTALL DRIVERS 4. CONNECT YOUR PHONE .
anther option is go to phone go to 1.SETTINGS 2.APPLICATIONS 3.DEVELOPMENT 4.CHECK USB DEBUGGING
One more 1. Settings 2. Applications 3. Usb 4. Enable mass storage instead of kies or music player .
tried everything
I reinstalled the drivers that way.... change the settings on the phone and i get the same USB Device not Recognized

Did you ever get this working? I'm having the same issues. I've tried 3 different computers and 2 different operating systems, all that I used last week without any problems. My phone is definitely not in Debug and it's definitely on Mass Storage. What gives?
Hi I couldnt fix it... I did found on internet about corrosion on the usb port but havent tried afraid to ruin it...

I don't think it's corrosion. I see all the pins fine with no wear on both the cables and the phone.
i bricked mine awhile back...and it wouldnt connect to windows 7 but would on vista.......dont ask me why but both my wifes and mine wont connect to either pc we have....have to remove external card and move things around like that.....sucks.
Rayn1328: that's what I do right now... move stuff to sd card and then to the internal sd card....
PsychoCemia: Well if it isnt corrosion..... What would be wrong with our devices? Everyone thinks its software issues but it is a Hardware issue....
I would like somehow to help us to repair our bricks! PLEASE!

I did look around a bit more, and found out about a thing called "USB unbrick." Looks interesting, but I can't do it from work, since I don't have ADB/Kies/etc here. I'll try it out when I get home this evening.
Here's a Link.
Some weeks ago, my Xperia U stopped detecting my USB cable as a USB cable.
It all happened one day, when the battery became weak (<15%) and I plugged the USB cable. The XU started to blink the charging light non stop, with the warning popup having the same behaviour in the OS (appearing, disappearing, appearing, disappearing...). So I unplugged it, thinking that it should be a problem with my computer USB port and plugged it to electricity. Only some days later, when I plugged it again to the computer, I came to realize that the problem was in the XU because it wasn't detecting that a USB cable was connected but it was charging normally like it should and it still does until this day (it still changes plugged to electricity too, no problem there).
Things I've tried so far:
- Enable/disable debug mode does nothing;
- Tested with friends' USB cables without any success;
- When I tried to boot into flashmode, Windows tried to install some driver and stopped with no warning;
- On a Linux machine, I checked the connected by USB devices and there was an error concerning the device but I couldn't figure it out what was it.
So, it seems like the USB cable detection is dead and I want to send it to warranty to have them checking the problem, but I have my XU rooted and it's with a stock ROM but not the one it should be (it's with that French one when ICS firstly came out).
That said, my question here is if there's anyway I can unroot and install my provider stock ROM (the ROM file is not a problem) without using the USB cable, so I don't have any problem with the warranty. I've used WiFi ADB app with success since I can connect to my device and perform adb commands, but I don't know what I can do with it to help me solve my problem...
Thanks in advance for your answers.
you can via Wi-FI channel's built to give ROM memory? If so, tell and through Wi-Fi ADB flash tis ROM, unless of course will
Yes, I can send the stock ROM file with ADB WiFi to my XU, but I don't know if flashing with 'just' ADB works, because I've always used Flashtool for flashing... Could you explain with more details, please?
I've been occupied and in need of my XU, and so I still haven't send it to the warranty, but I wanted to do it this week... So, is there anyone that can help me?
I'd be really greatful if you could tell me how you got flash tool to detect the XU. After installing a custom rom my device won't stay in flashmode. I have ALL the drivers.
