After flashing a CloudyFa rom a while ago, I forgot which, my ipl became just 2.20. SPL is still the new one. I do plan on continuing flashing new roms, so what do you people recommend I do? It still boots, but it seems slower than it used to be.

IPL shouldn't matter. What is the SPL?
Generally, flashing the IPL is very risky. If it goes wrong, your device may never work again, and there is no recovery method.

Flashed WMXL 0.20 yesterday. All fine. I stupidly installed a WM2003 program that seems to have edited the graphics driver. Now the thing wont boot past the HTC splash screen. I've tried flashing, same rom, different t-mobile roms etc. No luck, always same error.
What gives?
Installing a program does not usually brick a device.
And if your graphics driver has been modified,I suggest you do a hard reset on your device.
If that is not helping, please provide your SPL and Radio version, also Cid status and so on ,see who can help you here.

Sounds like you're flashing & writing before reading. I'm guessing you went straight to the WM6 rom and didn't do any of the SIM or CID unlocking. Read the following threads and you should discover what you need and probably loads more too...

Congrats and have fun flashing - it's addictive.
I'd suggest that you read and try Olipro's Hard-SPL before you go any further. This appears to be the answer to many of our prayers because you should be able to recover a bad radio flash. (I'm guessing that the 1.04 version will become most popular)

DotPocket.

well... that current NBH will brick any Hard-SPL device since it will overwrite the IPL. I have 1.50 which I have given to ToddJG; this new version prevents the IPL being overwritten, so as long as you don't flash using SSPL, you would be safe.
is there any actual demand for it?
Oli are you refering to the NBH on "Full WM6 Pro. from Dopod (Test rom)"?
I am using SPL 1.50 Olipro - it works great.
Whether there is demand or not, I think you should disable IPL flashing in the flasher and then (assuming you feel like it) release an expert version (or maybe just an expert mode?) that will allow you to flash IPL. Even that I guess isn't even needed because we could just SSPL an upgraded IPL if we ever need to (right?)
To my (limited) knowledge, there is currently not any real reason to upgrade your IPL and if there are NBH's out there that are going to brick devices, I think it would be best to limit newbies abilitys to brick their devices (which hopefully means less aggrevation for you!)
Package HardSPL-1.50 with IPL-1.03 on a single NBH and publish it
I actually got stuck in BL mode when I tried to flash IPL 1.03 with SPL 1.40.Olipro installed and using Hard-SPL to flash. set 14 0 doesn't work anymore. I had to re-flash the OS to get it to work again.. A real ****ter as I had just finished setting it up nicely and didn't have a backup
Anyways, just to let you know....
I think that bocking IPL flashing would be a good thing. Like it was said earlier I would release it if it could stop users from bricking devices. I have been very happy with your contribution. It has saved me twice now. My little rug rats have pulled out the usb cable on my laptop to pda connection twice. If it had not been for you tool I would have a great paper wieght.
Thanks again.

Actually, I tried that.. It refused to work. Flashing the OS was the ONLY thing it would do.. It was odd. I tried to flash SPL again, it failed with a communication error. IPL again, the same. Splash screen, ditto. OS worked.

OK, A NEW SPL WILL BE RELEASED SHORTLY: SPL-2.10 - BASED ON A NEW HTC SPL, 2.02
If possible could someone instruct me on how to downgrade the SPL on hd2 from 2.10 to 1.42? Also, i've been having trouble with changing the radio.
Hi,
You can downgrade your SPL by installing an older stock ROM with the SPL version you require.
As for changing your radio, what exactly is the 'trouble'? You should just be able to flash it the same as you flash your ROM's (check The Leo Radio Thread for different radio versions), or you could task29 your phone and use the radio .nbh file instead of the blank one that comes shipped with task29.
Hope this helps

You cant. Your spl being 2.10.0000 tells us that you have a tmous phone, so you cannot use any 1.x spl versions.
This is also why you cant change radio, , ,because you dont have hspl installed.

DO NOT follow the above advice to flash an older rom from sd card, it WILL brick your phone.
What are you trying to do? if you are wanting to downgrade so you can flash roms and radios, use hspl3, and choose 2.08.hspl

This counts as a downgrade in my book (not the one he wants, but still.....)
Or am I missing something?
heh, the point was the op wanted to downgrade from a stock to a stock that wouldn't work. had he followed your post he would have rushed off to find a stock 1.43 rom because it includes 1.42 spl, flashed it, and would have a brick now.
i wasn't saying your post was wrong, just that it wasn't clear enough considering the phone is a tmous.

They Flash ROM sometimes more easy than installing a program, like there is no risk.
What worries me more: People are even advising to Flash stating there is no risk at all

couldnt agree more. The HD2 is probably one of the safest phones to flash that ive ever come across (excluding the tmous, cos it has a built in kill switch, hehe) but yet every day there are examples of people getting their phone, coming straight here and flashign eth first rom they can find, with no reading, no understanding, no preparation, nothing.
Damn the spoon feeding culture, teaching our kids to 'dont think, just do'
here is the thing from the start.
a friend of mine bought a HD2 from hong-kong.
after installing a cab file for hebrew support the device wont go up.
hard reset to the device didnt help.
so i thought i should hspl the device and then flash the new nrg rom.
after i did hspl from version 1.66 i made a ROM FLASH BEFORE RADIO FLASH.
anyways the NRG system refused to go up then i made radio upadte and tried flash again to NRG rom but the flash keep stucking in the middle every time.
i got stucked with the error cable code in bootloader menu.
flashed from sd the newest ROM 3.14.405.2 still nothing changed still with error and now without the HSPL.
is there anything else i missed?
JUST TRIED TASK29..afte 4% stopped with messege not allowed
Welcome to the dark side,I did the same thing,I followed someones advice and flashed the official 3.14 from the SD card, now I am stuck at the bootloader with SPL 3.03.
Lots of peaople here have become bummers asking for a new HSPL but the smart guys seem to be turning a deaf ear.
try to flash earlier official rom e.g 1.66 rom not from sd card but with the pc

Holy h*t...
Are you freaking crazy?
You MUST NOT flash a original ROM from SD card... That will overwrite the hardspl...
If you guys follow the RTFM tradition before do something you don't understand, then that would not happen...
Now you have to wait until a new hardspl is released...
Maybe you should do a task 28/29 and flash 3.14 with RUU.
Before you guys do another stupid thing... Don't try a "task 2a".
Maybe it don't brick your device, but it also will not help.

yes i have from sd and from usb..getting 28002 not allowed.
tried mtty42.1 task 29 and task 28 55aa
still no hope.
What should task 55aa do? In my opinin it should flash everthing except the radio. Right?
What kind of HD2 sells HK? Is it an ordinary 512MB one?
Is this an original HTC? I know the chinese people does not like originals, they like to sell their own not working but nearly original looking phones...
Look at this Touch Diamond
What happens if you install the latest HSPL (2.08)?
Is it possible to flash a new SPL (does not matter if original or not)
What kind of Radio do you have actual on your Phone?
Many regards

correct me if im wrong but my only optios seems to be jtag which cost here in some labs about 150$...
Oh my god... What shoudl I do with you?...
I don't want to brick my HD2 to try something for you...
But... Did you know something about a "Goldcard" method?
If not I will help you to create one. On other phones the Goldcard allows to flash ROMs from another Provider... For example you have a Vodafone ROM and want a Stock HTC ROM... Normally this should not work. With a Goldcard it does...
Maybe you have an old microSD Card which we can use?!
Maybe we can also try to flash it with SSPL. Did you try this, too?
I never used SSPL, maybe it did not work in Bootloder mode, but we will se this when we try it

I know how it feel when the own phone is broken.
My first HD2 was overrun by a car... And it takes me 5 month to repair it, because I can't get a keypad ribbon...
And my second HD2 is not really broken... My girlfriend loaned it two weeks ago for one week. She still has is, because she like the Android OS on it and until now she won't give it back to me. Now I have to wait until my Desire HD arrives me
What should I say... Women...
But... PPP works very well for her operator (BASE) on Android, I've interruptions every 5 minutes and I can be lucky if I can reconnect after each disconnect
Back to topic...
@coneman23:
I'll hope you've flashed a 2.**.50 radio (for e.g. 2.12.50) not a 2.**.51.
I've noticed, that those radios do not work with some ROMs.
Crusoe86 redirected me here.
is there actually a way to fix this?
maybe with goldcard and official 1.48 rom?
Here I am...
You could try HSPL3 to revert back to an older SPL. Maybe that works...
And you can try older Stock ROMs like the 1.48 (from SD card (I use an old one when I flash my HD2, maybe thats is more compatible like newer SDHC cards)).
Andhopefully it replaces the new SPL.
But I would try the Goldcard method or try to boot SSPL from bootloader mode...
My girlfriend has my HD2 actually. I can't try anything

I dont know how to make a goldcard, so i cant make one.
I recommend that you try this (found in your thread).
If that does not work, we can make a Goldcard.
It is not very difficult, but this solution in your thread seems to be easier if it works.
Fellas,
2 questions about hspl and sspl,
1- It is said that HSPL can be removed from the phone right after the flashing is complete. Does the removal of the HSPL necessarily result in the ROM on the phone also getting removed/returning to its former version? I mean, is there any way to remove ONLY the hspl and actually keep the ROM new version that has been just flashed by the hspl?
2- After utilising SSPL for flashing a phone, the word “hspl” obviously will not be seen in the bootloader. I wonder if there is any way to find out if a phone has been sspl’d ( of course if the phone is flashed with a stock rom, not a cooked rom! )
Thank you

hspl yes you can remove hspl immediately and the rom will work fine.
sspl during the flash if you watch carefully when the phone enters bootloader, your spl changes to 1.42.6666
as soon as the phone restarts after the flash, your spl is back to what it was, no trace.

I have heard that RADIO doesn't change during sspl, is that correct? But I guess if someone sspl the phone with the same ROM version (only different in language, like when someone changes his CHN 3.14.xxx rom into WWE 3.14.xx), then the radio version will also ok and will leave no trace... right?

sspl cannot be used to flash radios, in teh way that hspl allows it, but im not really sure how it handles stock roms that include radios. The radio in teh twio roms you mentioned is identical/almost identical anyway, so it doesn't matter.
if its warranty you are worried about, its the hspl bit you should worry about, the rom and radio doesn't seem to matter.
