Fellas,
2 questions about hspl and sspl,
1- It is said that HSPL can be removed from the phone right after the flashing is complete. Does the removal of the HSPL necessarily result in the ROM on the phone also getting removed/returning to its former version? I mean, is there any way to remove ONLY the hspl and actually keep the ROM new version that has been just flashed by the hspl?
2- After utilising SSPL for flashing a phone, the word “hspl” obviously will not be seen in the bootloader. I wonder if there is any way to find out if a phone has been sspl’d ( of course if the phone is flashed with a stock rom, not a cooked rom! )
Thank you

Hey, thanks for the reply.
Is this what you are advising? >> http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=623402
hspl yes you can remove hspl immediately and the rom will work fine.
sspl during the flash if you watch carefully when the phone enters bootloader, your spl changes to 1.42.6666
as soon as the phone restarts after the flash, your spl is back to what it was, no trace.

I have heard that RADIO doesn't change during sspl, is that correct? But I guess if someone sspl the phone with the same ROM version (only different in language, like when someone changes his CHN 3.14.xxx rom into WWE 3.14.xx), then the radio version will also ok and will leave no trace... right?
Thank buddy

well that will remove it, but will wipe your rom, meaning you will be back to a stock rom.
run hspl2.exe and choose 1.66.0000 or 2.08.0000 or 1.42.0000, thats it, hspl gone.

sspl cannot be used to flash radios, in teh way that hspl allows it, but im not really sure how it handles stock roms that include radios. The radio in teh twio roms you mentioned is identical/almost identical anyway, so it doesn't matter.
if its warranty you are worried about, its the hspl bit you should worry about, the rom and radio doesn't seem to matter.

OK, I've read the wiki and various FAQs on the topic. I am basically looking for confirmation on my plan as I have never done anything like this before. I don't want to see sparks flying out of my 8525 after trying to upgrade.
I have the 1.16 Radio and 1.34 ROM currently and I want to get to 1.34 radio, 2.06 ROM, 3.3 AKU. I think my procedure should be to:
1. perform the CID/SIM unlocker v3 per http://forum.xdadevelopers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
2. Install the latest ROM per:
http://rapidshare.com/files/18315008/RUU_HER_CINGULAR_2.06.502.3_1.34.00.10_SPL1.04.exe which should update the ROM and radio.
And I believe all of this is able to be done without downgrading to boot loader 1.04.
Thanks for the help.

You dont have too SuperCID but I would. That ROM will not downgrade your BL to 1.04. You BL will stay the same or become 1.04 if you happen to have something lower, which I doubt.

Are you saying it won't downgrade the BL regardless of the SuperCID status, or depending on which BL it currently has?
@pstritt: Based on the other info you provided, I'm guessing you must have SPL 1.06. You should be able to flash that ROM without going SuperCID first, as I've done so myself. My SPL remained 1.06 (why it did being contingent upon the answer to the question above).
Really no reason to SuperCID anymore...
Just run the Cingular rom in the wiki as your first step. Second step is to run Oli's 1.10.Oli Bootloader.
So...
1) http://rapidshare.com/files/18315008/RUU_HER_CINGULAR_2.06.502.3_1.34.00.10_SPL1.04.exe

Most of the links for radio only use Des' SSPL, so, SuperCID isn't needed. In fact, you don't even need to worry about having the appropriate BL either as Des' BL uses 1.09 to flash radios, even the 0108...
So, grab the packed RUU and run. Done.
If you aren't SuperCIDing your device, you **REALLY** should install the Oli BL; reason is that if there is a bad radio flash, it will save you in a VERY big way! Highly recommended to do it before you start mucking around too much with radios/os/etc...

Here again, I wholeheartedly agree. Until 1.10.Oli came about the light never went on with me as to the hidden benefits of SuperCID/1.04, despite that fact I had no burning desire to flash cross-CID or "generic" ROMs (...yet!).
Now I understand that it'll give you the ability to manuever in the BL if you happen to hose your radio, etc.

I've been keeping up with that thread, read alot of the wiki, but still can't seem to wrap myself around all the info I've taken in. I think I'm starting to get it some now. All's I've done so far is upgrade my official ROM with AKU 3.3 so now I have bl 1.09 and I'm still not ready to flash with WM6, but in the meantime I do want to upgrade my radio from 1.33 to 1.35 but still have the option to drop back if I wanted to.

no, enter the thread, there's only one available; the 1.01 stuff is only available as NB files and you have to know what you're doing to flash those whereas 1.10 is available as an RUU update that you can run on your computer to flash; that's the one you want

Stick to running the installer (ROMUpgradeUt.exe) to flash the 1.04-based version unless you really know what you're doing. Olipro left his 1.01-based version as .nb's for this very reason.
Show ExtROM Version
Hi, I'm new of the forum, I would want to know how to show the version of the ExtROM in “Device Information” with version 0.20 of XDA Live. Thanks a lot for the answer.
Due to display flickering issue which is worse and worse from day to day. I decided to restore stock rom for my T-Mobile MDA Vario IV to make a complain.
My device is Security Unlocked, with different Radio and ROM so i would like to know if my steps for reverting is ok. I do not want to make my device bricked!!
I have EXE file with ROM from T-Mobile www which includes all like SPL, RADIO, ROM etc.
So my conclusion what i have read is that i have to:
1) restore stock Radio
2) remove security lock
3) remove Hard-SPL
4) flash stock ROM from EXE file i have already downloaded. It will overwrite 1.90 SPL to 1.69 which was my default and overwrite ROM too.
Can anyone experienced with this stuff tell me if i am right? thank a lot.
With the steps you have listed you will be good to go. Just follow your steps and you are good.

I am not a noob i have read this many times, so i know what is the "official" routine. But this (official) routine was, i think made, for people who had no choice (as me with original exe) and they had to dump their ROM first, and than reconstruct part by part. And because the dumped ROM will never be CID safe, they had this tutorial 1. Radio, 2. OS, 3. SPL and it rally does make sense for me.
But i am lucky, because my operator (T-Mobile) shipped the device with EXE, which contains all the stuff (Radio, SPL, OS, RUU) and it is directly for my CID. So that is why i think my tutorial in the first post will work. And i think it should work though if i only remove Security unlock and Hard-SPL. Because it will overwrite all partitions in device even restored Radio, OS etc.
So am i right ?

Dear not a noob,
You asked a question, and you were given the "official" routine. If you knew the "official" routine, and you were going to do it your way anyway, it kinda makes your question unnecessary. I remind you that you are not the only person who reads these forums. In fact more than a hundred have read this thread. Some of these people "noobs" or not may want to know the "official" routine.
I personally don't care what you do or where you put your phone. But if anyone reading this thread follows the official routine they will not have any problems.
I understand why people don't like answering questions in these forums. No good deed etc etc......

Dear Ray,
you did not understand my question. That is all that i can say about it. I know about official routine to restoring stock defaults, but i was asking if my routine could lead me to same result. Because as from what i have learned in this forum this routine should lead me to the same result more easier way because i have RUU with stock ROM direct for my CID.
Your way i have to first extract nbh image from exe. Second i have to extract each nb from nbh. Third i have to make nbh from each nb, radio is not necessary, because it is already here. And for fourth my SPL is 1.69.0000 which is different from SPL contained in the Hard-SPL removing pack and it does not work for me just to replace the SPLs. And until now i did not find out why. Someone few months ago told me that i can use the SPL from Hard-SPL removing pack (1.90.0000 i think) and then overwrite it with my stock ROM package, which will restore my stock SPL and Radio, OS again as well. So official routine works for those who had to dump their ROM to backup their stock ROM, those who were not as lucky as me to have stock ROM with RUU for their CID. This procedure, i personaly think is OK, is not covered here on the forum, and that is why i was aking for blessing from someone more involved in this problmes...is it ok now?
PS: anything i can flash after removing Security Lock and Hard-SPL is my stock ROM and that is what i have. So it should work if there are not some any other things which i have missed somewhere!
Tom
bah dont worry bout them crackheads say i can speak from experience that your way work since thats exactly what i did last week only att exe pack and it did overite the 1.90 stock spl, changed to 1.95 in my case, like u say along with the radio and os. only diferance is i never security unlocked my phone sincei was happy with the raphel radios . now im happy with my new(well refurblished ) fuze.
p.s. i had defective screen too incase you were wondering
Everybody play nice
Ok, that being said, since you have the "official" exe from your Carrier, all you really have to do is:
Run the .exe from your Carrier - this will replace the stock Radio, ROM, and boot splash.
Install the warranty stock SPL 1.90 from the Hard-SPL thread (using the Hard-SPL RUU, of course).
Re-run the .exe from your Carrier, which will overwrite the 1.90 SPL with the stock version.
Other methods will likely work too, but IMHO, that's the easiest .

Positive. That's actually how I used to "flash to stock" in between custom ROM flashes.
If possible could someone instruct me on how to downgrade the SPL on hd2 from 2.10 to 1.42? Also, i've been having trouble with changing the radio.
Hi,
You can downgrade your SPL by installing an older stock ROM with the SPL version you require.
As for changing your radio, what exactly is the 'trouble'? You should just be able to flash it the same as you flash your ROM's (check The Leo Radio Thread for different radio versions), or you could task29 your phone and use the radio .nbh file instead of the blank one that comes shipped with task29.
Hope this helps

You cant. Your spl being 2.10.0000 tells us that you have a tmous phone, so you cannot use any 1.x spl versions.
This is also why you cant change radio, , ,because you dont have hspl installed.

heh, the point was the op wanted to downgrade from a stock to a stock that wouldn't work. had he followed your post he would have rushed off to find a stock 1.43 rom because it includes 1.42 spl, flashed it, and would have a brick now.
i wasn't saying your post was wrong, just that it wasn't clear enough considering the phone is a tmous.

The HD2 is probably one of the safest phones to flash that ive ever come across (excluding the tmous, cos it has a built in kill switch, hehe) but yet every day there are examples of people getting their phone, coming straight here and flashign eth first rom they can find, with no reading, no understanding, no preparation, nothing.

Ass for I know, to be able to install WP7 ROM on your HD2 you will need HSPL. And probably you know it already, but stock ROM 3.14 isn't compatible with HSPL, so yes you need to downgrade your stock ROM before.

To get back to your original SPL, you will need to do it using SD card method. If you use Activesync method, it will only upgrade the SPL and won't downgrade.
similar problem on my HD2
Thanks for the heads up, I did as suggested before...
So..
1. I got ROM 1.66 with Radio 15.30.50 from HTC forum and installed in order to downgrade my ROM
2. After that I flashed HSPL2 and selected SPL-2.08.HSPL
(After this it showed phone was hacked successfully and after it rebooted I can't get past the hanging white screen)
3. I *ignored this* then switched off phone and got into boatloader again and ran MAGLDR112 and the RUU loaded up to 100% and booted up but again it still hangs at the white screen stopping at the htc logo. That's when I thought probably step 2 was where I had hit a problem...
4. After a couple of attempts I decided to put it back to the 1.66 I got from HTC forum so I can use phone for the meanwhile
- I have been following the threads, and a lot of people seem to suggest that the white screen is something to do with having the wrong radio version. (Do you share the same thoughts or have I gone completely wrong elsewhere in your opinion?)
- And if it is a radio issue which do you think goes best with the MAGLDR112 and LEO70-ROM
- If someone could paste a link I'd be happy to follow it up

To get back to your original SPL, you will need to do it using SD card method. If you use Activesync method, it will only upgrade the SPL and won't downgrade.

Not right sir, even if you install stock ROM over ActiveSync it will upgrade and also downgrade your SPL version.

Stock ROM 1.66 have radio 2.07.51 integrated; but Android builds needs minimum radio 2.08.50 so before you install Android upgrade your radio.

You are right about that. I stand corrected. This was proven through my tests yesterday. In the past, with my Athena, it worked differently.

2.07.50 also worked fine for me for WinMO 6.5 (Energy), Darkstone SuperRam 1.5 and WP7. In fact WP7 NAND & Darkstone from SD ran fine with MAGLDR112.
Updated Radio solved problem

Worked like a charm. I put on Leo_RADIO_2.15.50.14** from one of the threads and from then on I then put back SPL-2.08HSPL and then loaded MAGLDR112 and it allowed me to access bootloader and from there I loaded the DWI file for Windows 7. Everything became kinda self-explanatory after following your help... Awesome, Windows 7 rocks... Off to activate the live services...
I've searched about trying to fix this on my own, but i have a feeling i may have caused more of a problem.
so trying to move back from android with a HSPL, i managed to install the original rom, but couldn't get rid of the CotullaHSPL when i flashed the new via USB.
so i looked for a Radio fix and ended up using the RUU_SIGNED.nbh radio from the same pack i used to install the rom
RUU_Leo_HTC_WWE_1.48.405.2_Radio_Signed_15.28.50.07U_2.05.51.05_2_Ship
Radio i am on now is the SPL-3.03.000 XE.
So after i installed it it says "software update failed, please try again."
attempted to try boot and keeps saying the same thing. Went into MAGDLR to try and reinstall the same Radio again after a soft reset and it comes up with 00028002 with NOT ALLOWED underneath this error number.
i attempted to reinstall is the rom, but not it just keeps stopping and telling me i cannot.
Any help on this would be amazing, not sure whether i should try a task28/29 or whether there is a simple fix to this problem.
i didn't install the rom off the SD card, but i did install the Radio off the SD card.
it needs to go back to the original rom so i can claim warranty because of the touchscreen!
Thanks guys and i hope this was enough detail for someone to step in and help me and maybe someone else at the same time!

hspl thread, post 1, hspl can only be removed by flashing stock rom from SD card or by using the hspl.exe utility.

that's the whole rom radio and spl, not just a radio. It will have flashed the radio when you did the USB flash.
Radio i am on now is the SPL-3.03.000 XE.

that's not a radio, that's spl 3.03.0000 which goes with 3.14 roms.
So after i installed it it says "software update failed, please try again."

the leoimg.nbh you mentioned can't be from the rom you posted. I'm gonna assume (because the outcome would be what you have now) that you flashed a stock 3.14 rom from SD, and step 1 is hspl being replaced by the stock spl for that rom, , in this case 3.03.0000,, then the phone reboots to start the flash, but because hspl has gone only the stock roms that match your phone will work, hence getting flash failed.

can't flash from magldr, I assume you mean bootloader,, coloured stripey screen.

because its the wrong rom and there's no hspl to bypass the check.

yes, get correct stock rom, flash it from SD, done.

Correct stock rom. Must match country and provider, example mines from o2 UK, so only o2 UK stock roms can be used.
The rom you posted the name of, see it says "HTC wwe" well the HTC bit means it's unbranded, example bought from carphone warehouse. If your phone came from o2, it would say o2 wwe
Oh and forget about the radio, it comes with the rom.
Bit off topic but once I've flashed MAGDLR can I ever go back to stock WinMO 6.5. I f'ed up and didn't SIM unlock my phone before I started hacking it up ( Hard SPL & MAGDLR)
