Comm Manager Microsoft Direct Push Question - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

using DCD 3.1.2 and radio 3.39.1 on XV6800 Verizon is my carrier.
I have the MS direct push on my comm manager, but it's greyed out.
I've been periodically upgrading with DCD's roms over the past 6 months and noticed its there, but always greyed out. just now geting around to asking about it, since i havent read anything in the forums here.
three questions:
1. what does it do (i mean is it only for hotmail, or is it a push "feature")
2. why is it greyed out?
3. how do i get it to work?
Appreciate the help and info!

It is only for Exchange 2003 and higher that has the push technology to push to your phone. I use it for getting my work email but is very costly on the battery power.

It's greyed out because it's missing the registry that turns it on/off. Do a search for it here.

I meant Registry string to the direct push "button" in comm manager.

New phone - what do i do? (update 2)

Hi guys, I am not really all that new to the forums, lurking alot. and doing research contemplating whether or not i should do this upgrade which all of you seem to have absolutely no problem doing.
I am a Verizon customer with a 6800 that i use for mainly business purposes and entertainment purposes. I have been using stock since the day i got and only used cosmetic shells for it (SPB) Recently my phone has been forced into retirement (lost) which almost seemed like a godsend to me as insurance is sending me a new 6800. Given the timing and the circumstance, i am going to be doing one of these upgrades to my phone. However i am completely lost as to what happens after and which choice would be best.
I decided to use either Nexvision's upgrade or DCD's upgrade. i dont know which, as far as i understand dcd's is closer to stock; am i correct in thinking this? while dcd's is more fully featured entertainment package with loads of software?
I would also love to add functionality to this phone if possible, am I correct in thinking that i am able to enable gps on the phone by updating the radio? if so, wouldn't the radio cuase signal issues? long connect times and such?
Also, since I am verizon customer, i would need to call verizon's tech support for some information to activate my phone?
I want to thank you for all your support in advance, and i will be posting back here updating on my experience.
did all the work, flash went just fine without a hitch, however i cant send or recieve sms. only app added to dcd kitchen is arcosft mms 4 found on this forum.
First off DCD's are what we call Clean ROM's. He pretty much strips all the bs out of them and lets you decide what you want to add via the Kitchen. What you really need to do is figure out exactly what programs you want included. Then search around for the OEM files for those programs. Once you get all the OEMs you want you will stuff them in DCD's Kitchen OEM folder and then follow his directions. Now beware PAY CLOSE ATTENTION TO THE DETAILS IN THE INSTRUCTION. If you don't, you'll end up with a headache. It won't kill your phone but you will have to keep flashing the thing until you follow the directions exactly how they are set. I will tell you right now, if you are a Verizon customer have your stylus out when your phone boots and hit the reset button when the Customization screen pops up. If you don't, you're gonna end up flashing it again.
I really like DCD's rom...clean, stable and everything works. I looked at VetVito's black rom and its very nice looking but I have mine set up just fine. Thats the nice thing about DCD's rom you can add anything you want later. If you flash a custom rom with lots of apps you may find there are some conflicts with software that you choose to install for your specific needs. You will need to update the radio on your verizon phone to enable the GPS. There are several tutorials on how to do it but basically you're gonna flash the stock Sprint rom (to get the updated radio only) and then stop at the customizations screen (the screen says 'tap' to begin customizing)....don't tap that screen or you're gonna have headaches like lllboredlll said. I'm on Alltel so I can't speak to some of the issues that Verizon users have but there are also some excellent tutorials on flashing the Sprint rom specifically to Verizon phones and how to get up and running without problems. My connections (phone, data, bluetooth, wi-fi, and GPS) have been flawless. After you're done flashing you can install SPB Mobile Shell or some other GUI and have fun!
Hey guys, Just reporting back on progress
I have successfully completely patching DCD rom onto my 6800. verizon has authenticated it and everything is working just fine.
I want to thank you again for your support and your help with choices and advice as well as explaining the differences between the choices.
However i did notice one thing. When using google maps option to track my location i found that it is horribly inacurrate, showing my location some 100 miles or so from my actual position. is this a common problem or just a fluke.
Update: Seems the gps is all wonkey, oh well.
after some more use, seems that text messaging isnt working. I cant recieve messagings and when sending i get error message NoAck. i can make calls no problems, didnt try the MMS.
I used DCD kitchens and added the arcosft mms 4 to it, edited the rgu like it said. I ddnt try sending mms messages yet, but I cant send or recieve sms messages,
a *228 option 1 didnt work. It seems to have killed my phone and i unable to recieve or make calls now.
Call verizon and make sure they didn't put a block on text messaging. If calls work fine, then sms should as well as they both transmit using 1xRTT.
Also, do a *228 option 1 and see if that helps.
got everything working, took me 2 phone calls to verizon to get everything back up and running. they asked for a few numbers from my phone, and a few resets later, everything was good. Thank you guys for all your supports. I am now the proud owner of a DCd 3.0.1 xv 6800

Irus Ultra Vanilla rom questions...

OK i have decided to run with the Irus Ultra Vanilla 6.1 rom. everything seems to be working great as I am installing my programs...then I notice after setting up my exchange email account...the microsoft direct push doesent seem to be working..i try to sync my exchange account and it says it cant connect with the current connection settings. and if I try using the comm manager i cant activate the direct push...any advice on this? Now after flashing the rom I never got the Tmobile settings detection thing that I've always had before...could it be something not set for tmobile? Thanks in advance..I really need access to my work email

Just set up the t-mobile connections manually and you should be fine.
ok, forgive me for being spoiled with autoconfiguration....I think I found the settings on tmobiles web page...but i cant seem to find where to put them. I think ive looked under all the connection settings and havent found anything...i vaugly remember seeing like a manual configuration wizard that i ran back on another rom...but I doubt thats included in the ultra vanilla.

You go to Start>Setting>Connection, then you will see an icon called "Connections". The iconn has c omputer, two mobile phones and a globe. Click on that, and click on "Add a new modem connection" . Enter the name of your Tmobile company, and in the select a modem window, choose "Cellular GPRS". On the next screen, enter the Access Point Name. If you don't know what is the access point name, call your phone company and ask them.
Thats' it. Very simple.
ok, i setup a tmobile mms connection and all I did was input wap.voicestream.com into the APN and then clicked finish. Now my direct push email is working and the net is working as well. Does anyone know if that should be all I need setup to access my full tmobile data plan that I have?
ok, everything seems to be working now except my receiving of picture messages....I had a friend send me a pic and i got the text from the picture message as a normal sms, not mms. once I tried to open the sms, it gave me an error that It couldnt download the msg and it would be left in the inbox....gotta be another setting somewhere....

I think you have to set up the servers in Menu/MMS Options in the mms inbox screen
I hope touchlasvegas dont mind if I ask a "few" questions.
1. I'm interested in flashing this ROM, can I go back to AP4 if I choose to? There wont be a problem with the repartitioning when its already done right?
2. In the addons, did Irus put the Windows Live and MSN messenger v10.6..... or is it a previous version?
3. Also in addons, which Windows Mobile is in there....is it the same one in AP4? I'm also looking for the Comm Manager and USB to PC from Ap4?
If I can get just these few things.....I'm ready to install this more stable ROM!!!
Thanks
depends on what SPL your using...I'm on SPL 1.2 so i can bounce around on various roms as long as they are the same SPL. I believe Irus has an spl 1.2 AP4 rom, but do you know which spl you are running? I do not remember seeing the windows live and messenger apps in the addons but i may have overlooked them...easy enough to download the latest versions though. Pretty much each little piece of software you need...you'll need to get the latest version and download it. I'm lovin the speed of the ultra vanilla though, all menus are snappy instead of the slug I had been used to.
and to anyone else concerned, I tracked down the connection wizard cab in another thread, ran that and it setup all my tmobile settings perfectly...so its all good now. I have one last issue, not being able to change the softkeys...I would prefer it to say just email...or mail, instead of Gmail at the bottom right. By chance anyone know of a cab file that would remove the bottom bar totally?
I'm running Ap4.0 3.5spl. I just dont know if any of the things that I'm looking for is available in his addons.
So the answer to the first question is....."yes" I can re-flash the PK Ap4.0 ROm if I want to go back to it?
I believe you can, I wish someone else with spl 3.5 could chime in..I do not have that spl yet, so I dont have any experience with it. It would make sense that you could change between any 3.5 spl roms though
Thanks for the help touchlasvegas.
A couple questions for you. What SIP's are apart of this ROM? Is teksoft fingertouch in there?
Would you recommend IYHO to flash to this ROM? I'm reading nothing but good stuff about it!

Hi CRU2008,
I hope you don't mind that i'm answering some of your questions.
Fingertouch is not included because Irus has no permission by Teksoftco to provide it.
This rom is great, very fast and stable. I had some annoying issues with the bluetooth stack and my Cardo BT headset. Every time a call came in, after a few seconds the bluetooth connection was lost.
So i had to go back to AP4 (i disabled all that fingertouch and automatic orientation stuff), because i have to use my Ameo in a professional manner.

Hi
I had the same Bluetooth problem then i have to switch rom. I have switched to Irus TaxistV10 it works great and faster than Ap4. It is upto you which rom you choose, but i recommend the V10 rom. Reasons for that
Bluetooth stack is great
Wireless manager works on 96DPI
faster
Good luck

Hi touchlasvegas,
would you mind to give the direct link here to this connection wizzard cab?
I've tried 2 or 3 three connection wizzard cabs and all refuses to start under this rom.

if your still lookin for the connection wizard, follow http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=356330 to this thread and in POST # 3, there is a list of addons. Your going to download "Shamanix HTC ConnectionSetup v1.0.31247.2.cab" after struggling to enter manual settings, this got internet, data, and MMS all working perfectly for tmobile automatically.
I'm also very lucky, as I just dont have a need to depend on a bluetooth with my advantage...if I cant talk on the speaker due to privacy at the moment, then I just send a text, not a big deal to me. I have yet to run into any problems with the Irus Ultra Vanilla rom, it just takes time to get everything working because almost everythings been removed from the rom to make it ultra vanilla, and thats what I wanted...emilination of the junk so I can pick and choose what I want.

verizon 6800 gps woes

copied and pasted from the gps faq:
hey guys,
im a long time reader and this is me first post here on the forums.
im having an issue with the gps for the xv6800 on verizon. ive read through lots and lots of posts regarding verizon and their gps service, agps and the like. my problem is that i dont ever get a lock, and never see any satalites in the htc gps tool. it just sits there.
ive got
VZW XV6800
Rom: DCD 3.2.0
Radio: 3.42.30
i installed the radio using the sprint official rom, and then put dcd's over that. im using olipro 2.40 and after i put in dcd's rom, i ran the verizon carrier cab. also the arc mms thing but im sure that has nothing to do with anything other than mms.
my gps settings are
com4
4800 baud
and manage automatically.
location mode is set to on.
i dont have tomtom or another commercial program to test, so ive been trying google maps and windows live. google maps tells me my handset doesnt seem to be compatible with my location, and windows live just tells me gps signal lost.
ive let it sit for roughly an hour and some change, trying for a lock, although that is unpractical for everyday use, i just wanted it to lock.
i read on here that other verizon customers gets theirs to lock in minutes, and that would be great for me if i could get that. so im asking, is it just my handset? or have i not done a crucial step in the flashing, programming?
didnt call verizon when i switched phones to reactivate data or whatever, i didnt know what i was supposed to ask them to do, so i just switched phones thru vzw.com and it makes calls and uses the ## codes perfectly. ive dont the *228 ect .
am i just sol? i really would love to have gps back, my previous phone broke, and i used vznav and that was great.
thanks in advance.
try this, and see if it makes a difference:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanGpsFix
thank you for the reply but i forgot to mention that i have already applied the gps fix fromt the tutorial. i read somwhere that is persists through flashes, so i have not tried to reapply it after upgrading to the latest dcd.
if it truly does not then i will try to reapply that again when i get off of work
gmaps always says not compatible with my location (it is a feature some phones support that doesn't use gps) - don't use my location, check 'use gps'.... once the gps has a lock my location will send you to that location though....

Updated to new rom and now no internet

Hey all,
I updated to the newest HTC Rom, Version 3.56.651.0. Now however I can't access the internet either through the internet explorer mobile or opera mobile. I am on hold with HTC Global Support, but figure y'all would be able to help me before them
Thanks

Correction: you flashed to Sprint firmware 3.56, and I'm going to assume you're not a Sprint customer and that you let Sprint's customizations run. What carrier are you on?
No, I am on sprint. Also text messenging and regular phone calls work just fine. I checked my MDN and MSID, they are all in there too. I loaded the newest rom on the HTC update page.
Error
What actually exactly happens?
Do you get a Incorrect Login/Password...or what?
That might help to begin troubleshooting (I had a similar problem)
When I enter a URL into the address bar of internet explorer, the lower bar begins to say Connecting, to Locating, and then an error stating that Page could not be found. Opera mobile gives me a similar error and so does Live Search. Currently there is no error 67 asking for user name and password.
One thing to note, when updating the ROM I didn't allow for customizations to run.
I found the solution, allow for customizations to run. I did a hard reset and let them run (sigh bogged down with bloatware). Now internet is running just fine.
I am a noob at this, but after doing some forum reading. Apparently sometimes data connections randomly kick off after updating the Radio and if you don't allow customizations to occur, then you have to run IOTA.cab in order to reestablish connections.
I am attaching the IOTA cab courtesy of a user at PPCGeeks in case anybody has a problem too
hard reset, let the customizations run, connect and do something online.
hard reset again, this time without letting them run.
Should have internet. If you dont mind resetting at least.

Xv6800 no gps at all i think i have tried everything

Hey everyone i know alot about this phone from your forums. I have done the gps update on my phone using the wiki you had and Worked for some time. So after some time the gps wont pick up any satellites. Ok so i thought well i would hard reset and resintall the carrier cab and gps cab nogo. Ok so i reverted to stock rom and redid to dcd rom and radio added the carrier cab and gps cab again nogo. I even tried the mr1 update with gps cab via your wiki and still google maps and live search wont pick up the gps. Does anyone other than a defective gps unit have any other steps to try would be appreciated. thanks
Did you even search to see if others had your same problem. Look in the last 10 pages here. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=424387
have you applied the aGPS fix? and if you have, did you update with the new information? im not sure when it happened, but verizon changed the IP address and port you should be using. i lost gps for a while and didnt even realize that a hard reset made me lose all my gpsOne settings (when i lost my akey). if you have the aGPS fix set up correctly, you should have no issues at all.
I've been having a similar problem. I am not sure what the definitive ip address settings for verizon users should be (ip/port, that is). I think I've seen at least 2 or 3 different settings, including Telus ones. Does anyone know, definitively, which ip address and port we should be using?

When you mean the ip address change do you mean using qpst and if so i might not have changed the ip address.so i will give that a chance i saw in a previous post a different ip didnt think anything of it. I will try and if someone has the new ip can you please send it to me.
I found
ServerIP=66.174.95.132
ServerPort=8888
Or is it
ServerIP = 216.198.139.92
ServerPort = 8889
And one thing i looked at my phone and when i pull up qpst i dont see the usb ports listed i do see unknown i would try those but if anyone has anything on that would be great thanks
Guess i have to revert back from mr1 to dcd rom hope this works i loved my gps. my omnitech with igo and navigon is ok but i like google maps better.
you should be using DCDs rom anyways. the correct settings are the second block that you listed. your ports may not match the same numbers as the wiki, but add them both and open whichever one has SURF next to it
Use the telus servers. The verizon ones are hit and miss if they work without VZ navigator.

whats the settings for telus doing rom update right now
68 to 69
Ok so i had the xv6800 and got it working with gps. Then i decided to get the xv6900 because it has more ram and i knew my software i had would work on it. Plus i knew about this hack so....I gave it a shot.
Well I turned on the XV6900 as soon as i had power running to it, and it came from verizon with 6.1 on it. Which saved me some time having to install it later. The first thing i did was install the vahalla cab that i had on my 6800.
the registry settings were automatically set at
Mode 2
PDE address 5C8BC6D8
PDE port to 8889
I then installed the Serf telus agps deal....
Mode 4
server ip 216.198.139.92
server port 8889
then i install Franson gpsgate2.6
and it shows me a lite green icon on my today screen then when you go into settings it says "getting gps data, but no position"
I couldn't get gps to work in google or live. Maybe because i was impatient. I sat here at work on the 8th floor of my building and still couldn't get it to work. So finally I when i was leaving for work, i called my wife to let her know i was on my way home, and when i hung up the phone....there it was. The light green was now dark green which means gps position. And it works now. So i installed tomtom and that works (btw i use gpsgate for this to fool tomtom into thinking that the installed gps is a real tethered gps, because built in wouldn't work). So now gps works great, until I turn on my phone on the 8th floor. So my guess is, the gps has to get a lock outside with clearview of sky while you use your phone. once you do this the agps helps out and then you can go inside and still have location.
Try it let me know if this works for you.
btw- has anyone been getting text msgs saying a free software update available by dialing *228 then 2? this updates the roaming area. I wonder if this is tied in with us hacking the gps. Just a thought.
Telus server info.
