My HEX ESN has no letters! - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

I just flashed my xv6800 with an updated rom. I followed the instructions on the wiki, got the unlock code, etc. However, now when trying to edit the EPST, the unlock code does not work. I verified the hex ESN both on the back cover of the phone and on EPST and they were identical, 7 digits long, no letters.
I've been scanning the forums for an hour or so and it seems in these cases most problems come from not capitalizing letters when using "GetSPC", but this is not the problem in my case - No letters!
Is it possible to convert my decimal ESN to hex and use that to acquire my unlock code? If so, that didn't work either.
Please help!

First of all....why are you "editing" EPST?
Second of all...you're on Verizon and therefore do not need to use GetSPC. The SPC on ALL Verizon phones is 000000.
That information is posted ALL over the place in this forum. A little search could have prevented yet another new thread.

Thanks gc,
I was actually trying to update the EPST parameters to 'fix' my MSID which was incorrect - but it fixed itself after rebooting 3 times (although its still not MY mobile number as it is for most).
Sorry for the 'overpost'.

epst wont open **solved**

I went ahead and flashed my phone to dcd 3.1.6 but now epst will not open, is there any possiblity of me unscrewing this up without sending the phone back to the factory (my carrier does not have the ability to flash me back to orignal rom)? I tryed reflashing twice with diffrent options selected in the kitchen but, still nothing .
i will attempt to help you... this may or may not be the issue, but worth a shot
when you try to access the epst, i assume you are dialling ##778 ?
if you are using the dialer, it may try to autocomplete it and add a pound to the end. (##778# which will not work)
so... if you push up on the directional pad after tying in ##778 it will take focus off of the autocomplete and when you push send it should work.
this worked for me anyways when i had this issue.. i found this from a posting i think by serf from march.
let us know the results

If he's on Sprint, he wants to use ##778#.
Honestly my guess is that he didn't install the carrier cab or he has installed a third party dialer that has screwed his phone codes.
I had this exact issue...
It would start to open, then crash... even when going directly to epst in the windows dir.. it would immediately close.
Was just about to post about it, then I realized I had not installed the carrier cab. (I have Verizon). The Carrier Cab fixed it.
ok, to be specific with my issue (with verizon) was with the dialer packaged with dcd's rom, it was adding that extra an extra # sign, because for what ever reason i tried ##778# before i typed ##778, thus it always tried to autocomplete it when i pushed send.
all's well that ends well
i have dcd 3.2.0 and installed the cricket cab (it was the closest to my real carrier, xml file wise) still no epst any other suggestions?
well, google for a list of codes for your specific carrier. im sure they will list an epst code or at least you can try to adjust their format to the 778 number..
Did you try to open EPST manually by running \Windows\EPST.exe?
If that doesn't work, copy \Windows\EPST.lnk to your computer, open notepad, and drag it into notepad. Let me know what it says.
Try running the shortcut (lnk) or the executable file in the Windows directory for EPST.
..occassionally it takes a couple of attempts to get the util running.
[edit]DAMN! GC beat me by 2 minutes!

Key, he's using the cricket carrier cab because he said that's what most "resembles" his carrier. EPST.lnk for cricket most likely won't work for his carrier, that's why I'm trying to get him to post the contents of the cricket EPST.lnk (I'm too lazy to go look).
bwash, epst does come up for a split second, then drops out, I've tryed both ways, ##778 and going into the wondows file.
24#"\Windows\EPST.exe" ##778
What model of the Titan are you using?
under device info the model number is TITA100, Pioneer lists it as HTC PPC 6800.
Try editing EPST.lnk to ##778# at the end instead of ##778. Then save it and open it. See if that works.
unfortunately, it still blinks.... any other suggestions?
edit, I did some looking on the xml file for the cricket cab, it dosn't look like it makes an epst.epst file like all the other carriers, I flashed with alltel and now epst works, however, the code is not all zeros or my msl unlock code.
Ok, so I went forum searching and after a million try, I finally found a post that tell you that when you put your hex esn into getspc it has to be in caps. I did flash sprints official ROM and changed all of the settings, I can get on evdo, and send and recive txt messages.
ok i'm having the same problem with my phone... i used the USCC cab and i still cant get EPST to work... it flashs and thats it... eather way i try thru windows or ##778 ... anyone have any ideas?

1. Did you use the kitchen or the pre-cooked exe?
2. I'm not sure what USCC uses for ## codes, but have you tried ##778# without pressing send on the dialer?
3. Have you tried reinstalling the USCC carrier cab? (It will tell you the old one can't be uninstalled, it's ok, just continue with the install.)
The cricket cab doesn't work properly. Tried it on several phones and EPST would load and then disappear. Using the Alltel cab fixes the problem.

I use Sprint, and same problem here on DCD3.2.3!
If I dial ##778 or manually launch epst from windows it just flashes and disappears. What to do?

Verizon Network Support can not get rid of my PPP Error 11

Yeap thats right three days with Network Support and they can not figure out why my phones not updating. Anyone else have any ideas before i myself agree with them that it is my equipment and toss it on ebay
It is a Alltel 6800 that has the Opal2.40 loader with the New Verizon 3.57 Update
Any ideas are better than anything i have at this point my mind is tired.
Forgot to mention tech support asked me to go ahead and clear the storage and reflash the verizon update again so i am at Verizon Factory Defaults other than I have changed the SID to match the local Verizon SID
what are you trying to do?
I am just trying to get Data Access for Pics and Video messages as well as Web Access .... The phone works for Voice calls and will send and recieve regular txt but anytime it Dials into #777 it comes back Error 11 PPP Connection Error
I have went into the ESPT and checked my secuirty and its [email protected] and vzw so thats ok.....the techs say that my phone is not updating its key its been soft reset and hard reset more times in the past 3 days than i have had sexual relations with anyone other than myself
well lets solve one problem at a time. first, the sexual relations issue. go get yourself laid a bunch of times and then we can continue working on your phone.
i'm not sure about this MyMDN business, but your mdn is your phone number. your credentials for the data connections should be your 10 digit phone number:
##########@vzw3q.com
password is vzw.
also, check your vzw mdn registry key and make sure it is set to your 10 digit phone number
[HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\wspheader]
X-VzW-MDN should be your number
I'm married...think thats my problem on the first one someone told me the ring goes on the nice things about her go away
yes my phone number is what i ment by mdn @vzw3g.com
also i am a newbie on the registry so i will have to report back to you on that when i have time to download the software for the registry
ok i followed HKLM\Software\Arcsoft\Arcsoft MMS UA\Config\mm1\wspheader] and i have no entry for X VzW MDN
I have
Accept
Accept-Charset
Accept-Language-
User-Agent
x-wap-profile
Since that phone was Alltel to start, has Verizon ADDED that ESN to their database??? Most likely they haven't..... The ESN is the Equipment Identification Number. My understanding is that it gets sent when a data connection is initiated. The MDN(Mobile Directory Number)@vzw3g.com will work but I suspect the ESN is not validating.....
EDIT - Humm, I didnt even see your response above.... So add the Key above and see what happens....
Here's what that section should look like...
"User-Agent"="utstar68kv1"
"Accept"="application/vnd.wap.multipart.related"
"x-wap-profile"="http://uaprof.vtext.com/utstar/xv68k/xv68k.xml"
"X-VzW-MDN"="your 10 digit cell number"
"Accept-Charset"="us-ascii;utf-8;iso-10646-ucs-2;iso-8859-1;gb2312;gb13000"
"Accept-Language"="en"
...
yea i spent all of last week waiting on the to validate the ESN which they finally did waiting long enough is the key it just took them a while to get the ESN in the system and show a VX6800 and set-up all the "pervision" to match my phone (i know that is off in spelling)
Ok I added that string into the reg and did a soft reset and check the value to make sure it stayed and it did and I still get error 11
all i needed to enter was my telephone number not the @vzw3g.com on the end correct?

Here, I made you a cab to add the necessary info minus your cell number since I don't know it..... So here's what you do.
1. go into the registry and delete what you added. Hence - Delete whatever is listed under the WspHeader....
2. Run this cab.
3. Go back to WspHeader and change the X-VzW-MDN key from the 10 X's that I put in to your cell number.... ie: 1234567890, then exit the reg editor and reboot....
EDIT - The info in that cab came straight from MY registry.... Minus my cell number.....
Let us know...
ok cleared the reg...installed cab
reset
changed your xxxxx to my number and still ppp error 11
Have you tried to install DCD's carrier cab? I'd try that next, then reset.....
Get the Verizon carrier cab here
http://dcd1182.n715dp.com/index.php?dir=carriers/&download=dcd+Verizon+Carrier+20081031.cab
are u running a custom rom? try running dcd carrier cab, i have used it to fix a few phones i had switched to different carriers and data didnt work
Ok, quick question as i am new to the flashing never really tried any until now was too scared until Alltel screwed me by selling out.
Can i just put this on my card and run it from inside WM6.1?
Hey, i had this problem in the past. First let me say that i am not an HTC guru like most people here, so research anything i have to say.
Sounds like everything obvious is set correct, take a look in EPST. Dial ##778, select edit (but be careful not to edit anything, if you select view it will not allow you to see the needed information). It will ask for a security code, it is 000000. After it loads select view info, then Security.
The following information should be present.
HDR AN AUTH User Id : [email protected]
HDR AN AUTH Password : encrypted data characters
PPP User ID: encrypted data characters
PPP Password : encrypted data characters
S.IP DUN User name : [email protected]
In my case there were no encrypted data characters in the appropriate places.
The easiest way to resolve it from what i've read is to activate another device on your account then switch back to the desired unit. In my case i had to convice VZ Customer Service to completely reset my account. I believe there's a DMU code somewhere also that has to be 10. Search for PPP error code 11 security and i think you'll find something.
i got
HDR AN AUTH User Id : my#@vzw3g.com
HDR AN AUTH Password: a few numbers looks like my HEX ESN
PPP User ID: my#@vzw3g.com
PPP Password : vzw
S.IP DUN User name : my#@dun.vzw3g.com
I have another phone i could swap too and then swap back....its easy with verizon you just dial *228 and press 3..put in your phone number and last four of your ssn and your done
tried the swapping of the equipment and that didnt work...it did however get on line one time and i closed it and tried to connect again just to get the Error 11 again
Search for PPP error code 11 security, choose the "waiting for a dmu reset", i don't know how to embed it. That thread contains what i did to correct my problem.
Maybe the they are verizon specific, but your settings do not match mine nor any other xv6800 i have owned.
I have an idea, follow the instructions for the TP and getting EVDO on it.
Don't try this until you ask a few people first.

ok...here is my update on status...
Still no Data, BUT
When i was on the VZW Update ROM i had info in the following fields
HDR AN AUTH Password:
PPP Password
also
in the MIP default i had data under
AAA Shared Secret, and HA Shared Secret
NOW I used the latest dcd_titan_3.3.4.exe and I have nothing in these spots except 0000..ect under HDR AN AUTH Password
i went back to my LG 5500 and took allllll data off of my account waited like 4 hours and swapped back and still nothing.
only thing now is i think i will go back to the VZW Rom and call for a DMU reset and beg some more
I had the exact same problem after flashing to DCD 3.2.6. I had to call Verizon and have them generate a new A-key (26 digits).
You might have to call back a bunch of times or press the rep you get to generate the key for you (any of them can, they just don't know how).
Not sure why a new A-key would fix that problem, but I fought with it for quite a few days before finally getting it figured out. The data has worked flawlessly on my phone ever since.
Post back if this works if you would.

Help with A-key Htc Pro

Hi i change my sprint touch pro prl to a local provider but when i went to activate the phone they ask me about the A-Key 16 digit number;which i can't retrieve from the phone after dialing ##2539# it displays A-KEY which is in blank however it allows to edit the A-Key value,I read on other forums that this phone doesn't use A key instead it use Meid for authentication its a Htc Pro Raphael 800
Need some help Thanks
Is your local provider GSM or CDMA, which one is it.
Did I miss something where they said the carrier was GSM, even a hint at it?
You can use all zeros, except for the Checksum value will still be dependent on your ESN.
They probably want to know the AKEY atleast to prevent cl0ning of your MEID and ther information.
Wanna send me the last three bytes of your pESN? It should be safe since it isn't unique or easily reversed. I'll PM you your zero A-KEY.
BTW: You shouldn't be able to read the A-KEY out of a phone, you are at the A-KEY entry screen...
as far as i know the A key is used for data mainly - i think it stands for authentication key -
on alltel i dont have an A key my friend on verizon does. his data will not work with out the a-key. he had to call them and then then he did a *228 and did the option to activate his phone what then put in his a-key.
i would try *228 and then see if it puts in the a-key that or find some on on sprint and see if they have an akey if they dont then u dont need one and just leave it blank
How would you know if there is an AKEY?
How would you know if the active Sprint Pro has an akey programmed into it? I'm looking at a Pro right now, and I don't know how you would read out an AKEY, the AKEY menu will never show you the existng AKEY or tell you if there is one programmed... It's my understanding you also can't read it out via Workshop either. By specification, the AKEY is supposed to be placed into the phone in such a way as to prevent you from reading it out... it's an anti-cl0ning thing.
As far as the AKEY being mainly used for data... it's up to the carrier to determine how the AKEY is used, all calls - some calls - data... As far as your friends situation, are you sure that the *228 didn't fix the data issue ofcourse having an AKEY would also be important if the carrier uses it.
Does anyone out there have memory addresses for reading the AKEY via Workshop on a TreoPro that they are willing to share?
I don't want to sound rude, just trying to make sure everyone has the right information.

Need help with qxdm phone flashed to metro.

I have a 3vo flashed to metro and I'm having trouble getting it to connect to 3g. The place that flashed the phone did not repair the meid. But I'm not sure if they wrote a esn from a non 3g phone to mine when they houdinied it. When I read the nv items on qxdm the esn shows up but the checksum and eveywhere else is zeroed out. Di those need to match? Anyone familiar with this process please help I'm in a 3g area but cannot connect. And this 1x ia killing me. I just paid my bill and don't wanna go to boost if I don't have to. Thanks in advance
Shot from my Shoot3Rvo
Disclaimer, I'm not an expert and I have only done a handful of clones and conversions to other networks.
First does your phone make calls? If so meid/esn are ok. Since you have 1x that also shows your meid/esn are ok too.
You don't have 3G because they didn't enter the server information correctly or your HA Password or AAA pasword are wrong. Take the phone back and have them figure it out. I've always done it with a donor phone that worked completely on the network and I just copied over all the information with qpst or cdmaws to the new phone. Newer phones hide the HA and AAA passwords so using qpst/cdmaws cant retrieve them. If the donor phone is an android phone your can get the passwords using adb, logcat and go into ##data# and access the HA/aaa fields and the go back and search logcat for the passwords.
Start searching forums for retrieving HA/AAA passwords for the EVO 3D and also general activating on Boost/Cricket process. The process would be the same except with Metro you may not have to repair meid because their is houdini to insert the meid into the database. Find out what the programming settings are supposed to be and check them with qpst/service programming or go into ##data# check them there.
Good luck and happy reading.
Sweet thanks the the best feedback that I have recieved. The way the guides show is that for metro that the ha and spi are supposed to be the msl code but I have tried that among others. So maybe I need to be using the msl code that was used for the phone they houdini with. I don't know to much about using qxdm but the areas I do scan for meid and esn are all zeros or 0xFFFFFFF is that normal.

[Q] Boost Evo 4g LTE Data Problems

First of all, I'd like to thank you guys for everything you have posted on these forums. They have provided me with all the answers I've needed so far. But I'm finally stuck. I recently flashed a Sprint Evo 4G LTE to the Boost Mobile network. When I first completed the flash I had both error 16 and the data call failure error. I got rid of the error 16 by contacting Boost and complaining that my donor phone couldn't call out. They quickly amended the problem by doing whatever on their end. I played with the HA and AAA keys, and got the data call failure to go away by using the hex code from nv item 466, which was 34 digits long, where I just dropped the first two numbers. I also had to drop the first two digits of my second AAA key because it was 14 digits long. Using these numbers, I no longer get error 67 or a data call failure popup. When I enter ##debug# > EVDO Engineering, at the very bottom it just always says 1 = authenticated.
For the record, I have the Boost Mobile 61009 prl, but have tried various Sprint prls as well, because I read on this forum that might help. I currently have the Sense-based MeanRom installed in order to use the ## codes, and this forum has suggested to try to update profile and update prl, neither of which work. When I choose update profile, I get an error 1012, when I choose update prl, I get an error 1233. Any suggestions are much appreciated
As of right now, I am installing a different Sense based Rom, called MeanBean v2.3. I'll see if I have any luck.
For the record:
Baseband: 1.12.11.0809
Build number: 2.13.651.1
Donor phone: Samsung Rant
Plan: $50.00/month Unlimited Plan
Update: Changing to this ROM has not yielded any results.
I'm going to relock the bootloader and update my firmware with the 2.13 RUU, and then unlock the bootloader and reinstall MeanBean 2.3 to see if that helps. In the MeanBean documentation, it states
If your baseband is less than 1.12.11.1119, you have old firmware and should update else you could have problems with your data connection, reboots, etc.

Open QPST and connect to ypur device,
Open QPST Service Programming
Go to M.IP Tab, click Read tab, enter your SPC/MSL Code,
On the right side under ACTIVE USER, (not in profiles) change it to "1" instead of 0,
(0 is only meant for Evo 4g not LTE )
Click "write to phone"
Restart the device and you should have data.
There are additional ways to increase 3g speeds as well, but they need to be performed AFTER this process.
Error 67 Fix
Note: Make sure you're on a Sense ROM or the ESPT codes you need will not respond or function (##3282#, ##3424#, etc).
Also, if you have questions about how to use the programs listed, then you're too far ahead and need to do a quick read/ trial and error of the basics so you know how to use them.
If you are having a hard time getting data back up and running, for the Evo LTE then I suggest the following using the following items:
work.
CDMA Workshop
QPST - Service programming
DFS
- Connect your donor phone and open DFS
Click on the Programming Tab (Main Tabs),then read in the values from your donor phone and take screenshots of The Following Sub Tabs: NAM, Data, and Mobile IP
Within the Mobile IP Tab there are 2 radio buttons for Profile, click on each and make sure to get good screenshots of each.
First Check and Compare your Data Info in with what you have saved in your Donor Phone Items/Notes, if not save both your old and new notes to compare and change later.
Connect your EVO LTE and open DFS, and your screen shots. Compare and make any changes that do not match from your Screenshots, to your EVO LTE.
- Close DFS.
- Open QPST - Service Programming, read in your EVO LTE's info, enter your SPC (MSL). Click on the M.IP Tab and compare the information
with your and check for any errors, also be sure that Profile 1 is the active profile.
(Profile 0 is for non-LTE phones)
- Close out of QPST - Service programming.
- Open CDMA Workshop.
Click the Security Tab and send your SPC (MSL). Next click on the NAM tab and load and write your NAM 1 and NAM 2 files for their respective profiles
(hopefully you saved this as well as your NV Items from your donor phones profile).
Next, click on the Memory Tab and write your NV Items to your phone (465, 466, 1192, and 1194)
Finally click on the Other tab and write your donor's PRL (or one you've downloaded) Choose LG not Universal. and choose NAM1.
After which DO NOT disconnect, simply attempt to close the program and it will ask if you would like to restart the phone to apply modifications, click OK or restart your phone manually and you should be good to go.
