Sprint PRL 60613 - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

A little bit of self pimpage here... But a decent first post I think. Copied this from my post on ppcgeeks
PRL info
Attached is the Sprint 60613 PRL file
Here are the procedures I used to extract it
PRL Extract Procedures:
Not sure if this works on other phones. As long as it's htc ppc, I'm assuming it should...
YOU WILL NEED YOUR MSL FOR THIS PROCEDURE
NOTE: This was accomplished on XP 32bit for a Sprint Mogul/Titan. I am not responsible if you screw up your phone or pc with these procedures. This is what worked fine for me.
1. Install qpst - (if this is a restricted program please let me know - url can be yanked)
www.menekali.com/qpst-27-build-215-direct-download/
RS Mirror: http://rapidshare.com/files/123491631/QPST_2.7_B215.zip.html
2. Install HTC Diag Drivers
http://www.vzam.net/uploadedfiles/WModemDriverInstaller.exe
RS Mirror: http://rapidshare.com/files/123491632/WModemDriverInstaller.exe.html
3. Put Mogul in Diag mode (dial ##3424#) if on a custom rom it can also be listed as DMR or DM Router
4. Connect Mogul - it should autoload the drivers, you may have to point it to the correct directory though. Should be "C:\Program Files\HTC\WModem_Installer\WinXp"
5. Open QPST Configuration
6. Goto ports tab
7. Click "Add New Port".
8. Select the port listed as USB/QC Diagnostics (may vary, just don't use the data modem one)
9. Goto Start Clients Dropdown > Service Programming
10. Service Programming > Your phone should be selected - hit ok
11. Click "Read from Phone", Enter MSL, Fields should populate, don't worry about what tab you are one
12. Click "Save to File" - save to wherever you want, just remember where
The prl will be located in the directory you saved the file in.
It will be labled as <yourphoneesn>_sp.rl0
Enjoy!
Much thanks to osva of ppcgeeks for the hints at the original procedures.
thanks to jamesfelarca on XDA for the drivers for qpst
P.S. sent a copy to corolada - don't bother
***EDIT***
Thanks to bacspasm of ppcgeeks... If you get a roaming error or any kind of calling issues do a soft reset and give it some time, looks like this new prl might take a little bit to acquire the tower.

What you fail to realize is that 60711 is two revisions older than 60613. LOL
The last two numbers are the revision. "6" means phone and "7" means data card. So your 60711 is a very old data card PRL.

from my post over at SprintMogul.net and PPCGeeks...
I hate to sound like a stickler... but you do know their is a MUCH MUCH MUCH easier way of updating the PRL on your phone....
1) Simply take the PRL file for 60613 place it on the root of your MicroSD card...
2) Go to the dialer...
3) Input ##PRL# (no need for MSL if i remember correctly...)
4) Click brouse for the file...
5) update...
6) ???
7) PROFIT!!!!!!...... i mean your phone should have updated and restarted back on step 5... GLHF

I tried this, and it put me in roaming. I left it sitting for 6 hours this morning, and nothing...

I'm a little annoyed that people can't/don't read. I included the procedures I used to extract the file in case anyone was interested. I assumed that most people here would know how to load the PRL...

Yeah, I had to do a little research on that one too. With my Sprint Mogul I'm getting alot better reception on where I am now on 60613 (I'm in Iowa, 1-2 bars more depending on area). I'm happy so far.

Here comes the posts that say I picked up new towers in my area.... LOL... I love the PRL misconceptions.

I was under the impressions that a PRL can also add a tower if one has been added in your area. Is this not so? I'm generally roaming so it can harder to tell for me. Why would my signal have gone up otherwise?

if your carrier acquired another carrier it is possible.
your phone associates to a SID and the PRL defines these SIDs.
when a new tower goes active within your SID, your phone immediately sees it. an updated list of SIDs (PRL) would have no effect in this case.
however if another SID in your area was previously considered roaming and is now considered home, it would be entirely possible for your phone to attach to towers not previously used, and your signal strength to improve.
edit: usually a carrier updates their PRL for these reasons:
removal or acquisition of another carrier or new area
change in roaming decision to reduce costs to the carrier
addition or removal of EvDO network subnets
I live in iPCS land and EvDO seems to be going up here (finally). I think it was 60612 that activated EvDO here. As iPCS is the last standing sprint affiliate, I wouldnt be surprised if the recent PRL updates are meant to effect iPCS customers (midwest, IL IN MI IA area)

Thanks DCD, that was very informative. It's nice to have someone with your level of knowledge chime in on the topic.
I've also heard that this latest PRL change does affect quite a bit in the Midwest. Experience would seem to point that way as well.
*sigh* I still can't wait for those east coast EVDO speeds though. I normally cap out at about 300kbps burst.

So you say 6 designates phone and 7 data cards. I'm currently running 60711 and it's been great as far as I can tell. I'll probably update to 613 and see if I notice any significant changes.
Question: Are there any pros or cons to running a 7 series prl as opposed to a 6 series? I know that noticeable changes could be user specific, but aside from that.. any techinical pros/cons to 7 vs. 6 or vice versa?

What dcd said is completely true.
The PRL only has two parts to it. It has an acquisition table and a system table.
The acquisition table is an indexed list of frequencies your phone can use to search for systems. Each entry in the acquisition table includes an index, network type, and associated channel blocks.
The system table is a list of system entries. Each entry includes an index from the acquisition table so it knows what frequencies to search on, a roaming indicator to let you know whether you're receiving service from a roaming partner, and a system (in our case, 1xRTT and 1xEVDO systems). Each 1xRTT system is identified by an SID/NID and each 1xEVDO system is identified by a subnet ID.
It's a misconception that the PRL has individual tower information. If your carrier puts up a new tower in your SID area, your phone automatically receives signal from it just as long as the SID in your PRL is considered home.

I gotcha, so in simple terms the signal increase was most likely due to a change to the path (possibly a tower that was roaming previously is no longer considered roaming due to a agreement change). Makes alot of sense too...
Thanks to both of you, GC14 and DCD. My knowledge of PRLs has just increased exponentially.

is this still the most up to date prl for sprint mogul?

http://www.corolada.com/prl/

This is a repost because of the lost threads. The most current for sprint is 60652 and is not listed in the above link.
All a sprint user has to do is call *2 and it will ask you to enter your phone number and it will automatically update for you and it may soft reset your phone.

I've had Sprint PRL 60651 for about three weeks now. I'm running Windows 7 x64 7068 and I'm having a hard time taking the PRL off my phones. Call *2 or ask chat agent for a PRL update.
*edit*
I have this PRL on a Blackberry 8330, Blackberry 8830, and my Mogul.

I posted 60651 and 60652 here. Look towards the end of the thread. I submitted them to Corolada PRL page over a week ago.

I found my answer from another thread:
-----------------------
a PRL is a list of roaming information and for evdo users it lists all the evdo towers also.
to manually update your prl, type ##prl# on the phones keypad, enter MSL, browse to the msl file.
----------------------
just did the update and testing now
enter ##PRL# (##775#)
it will ask for your MSL enter it (search for msl generator) if you dont know it
and hit ok
tap Update Prl and then goto menu edit, load up the file it will ask you to reboot and your good to go...
hmmm, seems my previous PRL was blank??
With the upgrade, I dont see much of a difference but I dont know if I have REV A speeds.
At the bottom it shows 3 KB and now shows 134 KB but is kind of frozen on nba.com.
nfl.com opens pretty fast but I went back to nba.com and same issue. Stuck with 141kb showing at the bottom now...grrr
before updating the PRL i was getting around 134kb/s with dslreports.com/mspeed
now i get about 670kb/s
Using www.mobilespeedtest.com before I got 676 now I only get about 600.
Not much of a change for my area I'd say...
Chicago Suburbs - Near Schaumburg
Before 700kbps
Now 670kbps
btw i did 7 tests before and 7 after to find the average not going by just 1 test
will this PRL update stay when i hard reset or flash to new ROM?

Yes, this has to do with the Radio, not the ROM...
I updated yo Prl 60711 today on mogul. My speeds at office have always been about 22-32 kbs. Office is in bad area. Now after update pages seemed to flash . Did speed test at dslreports where I always go. Nows I am getting 123 kbs WOW!
Update. Went to freespeedtest and shows 151 kbs and before was about 24 kbs, of couse i always clear cache before each test. This rpl is great, I have called Sprint to complain about data speeds.
yeahhh, i updated the new PRL.. or did i?? It gave me an error message that it couldn't update the PRL, and reset.. ?
speeds before 450kbps
speeds now 750kbps
tested at dslreports 200kb 400kb file 1meg file...im happy...
guess they were workin on some tower upgrades with rev a and that cuased some outages across the east coast...
I don't see much difference between this (60711) and the 60611 I loaded up after updating to the 3.16 ROM. I'm getting roughly 770kbps down and about 77kbps up.
Didn't beleive it myself, but got 1.5mbps on the down and .4mbps on the up.
matt
can someone post the generator as i cannot find it on xda and ppc geeks is down. thanks
No speed increase for me, also windows live cab download still stalls for me...
Is this PRL only for Sprint? (it probably is..)
Also does this fix the 3.27 Radio data problem?

Verizon PRL update?
I tried putting in ##775# and send (green button) and this did not work on verizon. Is there an alternate way for verizon?

What Radio can I flash?

I have terrible reception on my phone.
I want to flash a new radio but I'm not sure which one to flash
I'm running CM7 and switch between that and MIUI roms.
I don't want to flash the wrong one. Can someone guide me in the right direction??
Thank you.
You can look here for radios. But you should read as much as possible before flashing a radio.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1193101
Also try updating your profile and prl and see if that helps. Or try a data reset.
Hope this helps

correct. I suppose it is possible, but no one has figured it out yet.
Agreed.. I don't think us HBOOT 1.5 guys can flash radios yet. Another thing to try, if you haven't already, would be to install the Open Signal app. It'll give you your radio signal strength in dbm and even plot your current tower's position on a map. Great app although it is a bit of a resource hog with all of its radio polling.

You might do better to flash a PRL. Safer and can lead to better signal without even changing the radio. Lots of people on here think they know it all and will tell you the PRL only affects roaming signal, but dont listen to them as they probably havnt tried changing PRLs and have no idea what they are talking about. Flashing PRL 00001 fixed my signal at my apartment by connecting me to the Verizon towers without being on Roaming mode. And 01337 gave me a little bit better signal in my apartment over 00001, even though I dont appear to be connected to Verizon towers anymore. Lots of people really like 11115 and I am going to try that next as it should be the best for signal since it uses both Sprint and Verizon towers equally and gives full 3G on either company's towers.
To flash a PRL you will need to be on a Sense ROM that has the extended EPST.apk installed. Put a PRL you want on your SD card, dial ##775# and put in your MSL code. From there you just select which PRL you want, press menu and then commit changes. Reboot and your good to go.

Actually my friend, I appreciate you trying to help me but in this case I will help you out.
I did tho PRL trick a year ago on my regular Evo. About 4 months later, I received a letter from Sprint stating that "even thou roaming is free on sprint, due to the overage roaming that I have used, they will terminate my services if my habits don't change in a month." Well I tried my best to change them but i guess they weren't satisfied and terminated my services. I had to call and beg and go on a 90 probation period where if I went over the limit by even 1min/mb, they you disconnect me. So I'll never do prl again. Instead, I downloaded this app called Roam Control and only use it when i'm waiting for an important phone call.
Radio on the other hand is a signal from Sprint and will not put you into roaming.
Aren't the radios loaded in the RUU? Can't you just run that and then unlock again with htcdev?

Well, I am not entirely certain that the radio is loaded into an RUU. Someone recently told me that the RUU would not change the radio version of your phone.
The thing is,the Hboot 1.5 folks cant revert to a pre HBoot 1.5 via RUU anyhow, so no one can try it. And while there are two RUU's available to Hboot 1.5 people. (2.08.651.2 & 2.08.651.3) They both have the same radio. So I can't run one over the other to compare radio versions before and after the RUU. Once a new update gets pushed with a different radio version, I could run the RUU to see if the radio flashes with it.
The one way I would think it is possible to switch radios is to re-lock the device, run an RUU to unroot, then accept an OTA to get an updated radio. Once you take the new radio via OTA, you would use HTC unlock again to unlock, flash a custom recovery, flash the SU binary and voila.
This of course is contingent that HTC doesnt backtrack on their unlocking promise. If you took an OTA and the new update is unable to be unlocked via HTC, you would be screwed. So we would want to make sure that they dont push an update that they wont support with the HTCDev tool. And of course the other flaw to this is that you can only "upgrade" the radio and never revert to a prior radio that you may have liked better.

I guess it was this sentence which led me to believe that.
I didnt ever say that though, that was some other guy. I cancelled my service by myself about 7 months after this post because I moved to Verizon since I was using their network all the time anyway. Sprint service is just too ****ty in my area. And not just cell/data coverage either, but text problems on their network were the worst I have ever seen. But I never had any problems from Sprint about data usage or things like that. The person who said Sprint contacted them about roaming usage must have been using multiple gigabytes of data each month, I normally only use 500MB-1GB at most unless I am tethering something.

[HOW TO] Manual PRL update

I'm writing this to try and save you guys some steps. This is a combination of things I've pieced together from several other instructions. Necessary files will be attached as best as I can, links will be provided otherwise.
This should give you 3G on verizon. I seem to get it no problem. However, I am not sure that it will be as fast as the 3G on Sprint, and it will definitely prohibit use of Sprint's LTE network, if you're one of the lucky ducks in the six cities starting up LTE soon.
if you bork your phone, I'm not responsible for that. You do this at your own risk.
things you'll need-
HTC diagnostic drivers
CDMA workshop (demo version is fine)
your MSL
a PRL to push to the device
if you're rooted, you can get your MSL by simply using MSL reader. I got mine from sprint when i was activating my phone.
you can get PRLs from this page. I chose OOOO1, because it's a verizon PRL, but your phone doesn't say roaming all the time. you need the .prl file inside of the zips, not the zips themselves.
turn on android debugging in your settings, and allow sideloading (i've read this is necessary, but i already had it on, so i cannot verify that it won't work if it's off)
Download the htc drivers folder below, and unzip to somewhere.
go into diag mode ##DIAG# on your dialer (that's ##3424#)
plug your phone into your computer (windows 7, i haven't done this on the linux side of my machine yet, so i'm not sure how it all works out there).
open up the device manager
(just start typing 'devices' in the search field, it will pop up. or type 'devices.msc' ) don't use the quotes.
you should see the phone, under 'ports' (so i've read) or modems. wherever it pops up, it should be in yellow, because we haven't installed the diagnostic driver yet!
right click on it, where ever you found it in the devices list.
choose to install/update driver. click 'browse my computer'. click 'let me pick from a list of drivers'. click 'have disk'. click 'browse'. navigate to wherever you put those htc diagnostic drivers, and select the one (64 or 32 bit) for you.
it should then be in the device list as a modem (assuming your phone is still in diagnostic mode). right click on it, select properties. figure out which port it is on (the modem tab)
open up cdma workshop. you should only have to doubleclick the executable file (cdma_workshop.exe) to open it up. this is the demo version they give away freely on their website. this is not a cracked fully functional version. but, it does what you need it to.
set the port to the one you just read out of the device manager. hit 'connect' and then 'read'.
click on the security tab. write your MSL in the field under 'SPC/user lock'. in the drop down menu there, select 'HTC method'. click the little box just to the right of your MSL field until it says 'S'. Click on the SPC button there and hit 'send'. Your phone should now be able to be accessed by CDMA workshop.
Go to the 'Other' tab in CDMA workshop. under PRL, leave it at Universal, NAM1 (I also wrote to NAM2 for some reason. I don't know enough about this to say with perfect accuracy what would be 'most appropriate'. just a warning).
click on the 'write' button. it will bring up a box for you to find and choose the PRL of your choice. hit okay. boom. written.
now, from here, i also changed the preferred radio to the 900mHz band cellular.
those instructions can be read here .
basically, that's *#*#4636#*#*, hit phone info, menu, select radio band. i also changed my preferred radio to include all the network types and switch through them automatically.
i've changed my prl, and radio type, and i'm getting 3g on verizons towers, not showing roaming (although i am roaming, it just doesn't say so because of the modified PRL)
there you go kids.
btw, i did have to reboot my computer twice to get the drivers and the phone and cdma workshop all to place nicely together.
hope that helps someone.

Yes they can, you can view the amount of roaming data used online on sprint.com
People have had their contracts terminated for roaming too much, but on the flip-side, there's people out there who have roamed constantly without a warning letter or anything from sprint. YMMV

yes, sprint knows. i don't care. honestly, if they kicked me off, it's fine with me. i move in two weeks to a part of the country that basically only covered by verizon.

Don't think Sprint charges for roaming, but I do this only because I have to. Work related.. I use the OG EVO 4G EPST.apk so I can change PRL on the fly when I need to Verizon 3G.
I'll have to double check but Sprint does throttle/limit roaming 3G to 300MB. At least that's what happened to me. Couldn't get decent Verizon 3G after I went over last month. After billing cycle I was able to get back good roaming speeds.
If you do this don't abuse it..

I followed the instructions you posted and it seems to be working, but I was just wondering how I will know I"m on verizon since the 0001prl file removes the notification and is there an easy way for me to control when I am on sprint or when I'm on verizon?
Thank you very much for all the help, this feature is great if I"m in a bind and need service!
Anyone know if Sprint let's you start another line after getting kicked out? Not that I plan to or anything..

without an EPST.apk that will allow you to manually choose the PRL, you have to use this convoluted method to change to verizon. switching back to sprint only requires you to go into settings>updates>update PRL. it pulls it from the network.

Hi Guys...
is there a EPST.apk for the EVO 4g LTE, so we don't have to be by a computer to change the PRL?

i tried about 3 different versions, none worked. that is what i tried to do first. i'm not saying there isn't one somewhere that works, i just couldn't find it.
could we use "roam control" app to switch back and forth between verizon prl and sprint? anyone try this

**boost your lte signal strength** [ymmv]

Yeahhhh... I'm at it again, tinkering with the EPST codes and hoping for a miracle. Not sure if I've found the miracle, but I'll share what I HAVE found and you all can help determine placebo or paradise.
My experience: Much like most first round city EVOLTErs, I'm not getting the lte signal as shown on sprints coverage map. Even when it connects, it drops connection pretty easily. So I changed a few things around and walked out of my office building and had a persistent 4G lock for the first time EVER in this location. So try out the below steps and see if your signal improves!
1. Press ##3282# and choose edit and enter your msl
2. Go to LTE record / 'lte available file'
3. You should see a 4 digit entry called SID. Take note of the number most frequently displayed.
4. Now go back to the "Advanced" tab and scroll down til you see the 'Home SID' entry
5. Put the 4 digit number in the corresponding box. DO NOT CHANGE THE NID!
6. Press menu / commit modifications and reboot.
7. Post your results here, cuz I sure hope this helps!
/standard disclaimer: unless I physically make these changes to your phone, I am not responsible for any damages.
..oh yeah, while I'm happy to report I'm picking up signal in a new area, it still drops and goes back to 3G if you don't have it on LTE,CDMA in *#*#4636#*#*. Use those settings to kinda kick start the 4G connection if you get disconnected after a consistent lock (one that remains connected for upwards of 30 seconds).
I dont get or too often, but when I work in boston its not too bad, in gonna have to give this a try though, thanks!

hrmm..what was yours before you changed it? I'm in North Houston and my SID is 4622
changed from 4139 -> 4622

same here..did you toggle the settings in ..4636..? This may all be coincidence, but I know for a fact that I couldn't get signal here at my job last Friday.

Ok...weird. I show 4139 as default in San Antonio. Perhaps this is a common default setting since it's in Houston too?? My Lte Records show 4181. Very little change when I changed to 4181, but another weird thing...changed back to 4139 from 4181 and saw nice improvement. Thoughts anyone on whats going on? Also tried profile update while on 4181 and it didn't change it back to 4139.

4139 is actually Kansas City, MO. It seems that's the default SID and since Sprint is headquartered in KC it stands to reason that the default would be for there..If I'm understanding correctly, the SID tells the phone what tower list to look for primarily. I'm NO expert, just tryna tinker and stumble upon greatness, ha
Looking at the PRL it appears the PRL http://www.batonrougebroadband.info/
must actually "set" the SID from default Kansas City (4139) to (4181) for San Antonio...somehow. Notice actual SID for a city is unique even though the PRL # is shared by all. Maybe your tweak is short cutting the need to "look at/for" the PRL SID for the city??? Interesting
Thanks for your efforts on this.

I have stated many times before in various threads and other places but I will say it again. That setting does absolutely nothing for Sprint phones. And surely does absolutely zero for LTE. It was originally designed to tell users when they went out of their home network. Not roaming, just outside of their home network where additional charges would be charged to the user.

No, your phone remembers the last SID it connected to and channel. Next time it is fired up it goes straight to it. Every notice your phone take a bit to pick up a signal after starting it up after an airplane trip? It tries the previous known Sid then fails, then starts down the list until it finds one it has listed.
Read my post above on what the default setting does.

Tried this didn't stick, I do have a 4g tower very close but only connect when I'm at best buy- next to the tower. But at the Cass after trying this I tried a 3g speed test again and was pleasantly surprised... I never get more than 200 down and 100 up in my area. Seems the network vision is in the works in my area. North Fort worth, tx.

FIXED: No Handoff to Airave for Voice

Preface: About 3-4 months ago I had issues with the phone not locking to the airave for voice calls, but I could see the mobile light (on the airave) flash for data/3g transmissions. Spent a number of hours with airave tech support trying many different things include phone profile refresh, airave profile refresh, prl updates, factory reset, and some other things. None of these helped the situation. Then, about 2 or 3 weeks later everything worked properly all of a sudden. The 3 beeps returned to my inbound/outbound calls when within the airrave's proximity (indicating call is being routed through it rather than an actual tower).
Observations
After some testing on my end, I discovered several things when this issue was occurring.
From the ##debug#/field trail screen (you need sense for this). I was seeing the following:
http://db.tt/Ql4796Iu
When the phone used to work with the airrave for voice, my sid/nid was 4384/502.
When the issue is present, the phone locks onto sid 22439/120 . By all accounts, this sounded very much like a PRL issue more than anything else. The PRL of the airave had a lower priority than this new SID.
I made a post about this issue on s4gru.com. Shortly after, digiblur (our prl expert) joined the discussion and things made alot more sense. (See this thread for the discussion http://tinyurl.com/ayhk79j )
The solution was obvious, an entry to the prl had to be made that gave the airave greater priority than the 22439 sid, but only acted on one particular NID (502 ---- which appears to be consistent to all airaves, regardless of geographic region). So at this point, I knew what had to be done, but not quite how to do it. Digiblur made a very nice how to guide in the post above - see post #16.
Unfortunately, I never got a chance to actually try this out because sid 22439 was turned off and modifying the prl was no longer needed.... Until now!
About a week ago the issue resurfaced and no more airave for voice calls.
FIX:
*WARNING*: Use at your own risk, all typical and usual disclaimers of flashing anything/everything applies here. If you brick your phone, you can't hold me liable.
1) Pull existing PRL from phone
Unlike the old evo, we can't easily upload a prl to the new evo 4g lte by simply referencing a prl file from the dialer. The process is a bit more convoluted
A) Place phone into diag mode -- ##DIAG# in a sense dialer
B) You may need some new drivers http://db.tt/zc4HIsJK, use proper version for x86/x64. May have to manually force the driver.
C) Download the free version of DFS from http://www.cdmatool.com/
D) After installing and running the program (run as admin), select the proper port next to ports. It will say HTC DIAGNOSTIC INTERFACE COMx. Where x is some number.
E) Provide your 6 digit MSL code next to the box label SPC, then click on SPC to submit it to the phone. In the DFS LOG window, it will say "DEVICE UNLOCKED".
F) Just below where the MSL code was entered, click on PROGRAMMING, and just below that, NAM.
G) At the far right of the NAM window is the tool to manipulate the PRL.
Select READ to read it from the phone, then SAVE to save it to a file.
2) Modifying the PRL
You will need some tool to actually make the edits. I Used QPST's PRL editor.
Follow Digiblur's insturctions below - note, due to new prl's, the line numbers have changed, but the concept is the same.
ref: http://s4gru.com/index.php?/topic/2...-but-not-voice/page__view__findpost__p__60555
Ok... here's what you want to do. Scroll down to 465. This should be the 22439 SID record with the Geo set to New. This is the first record in your geographic area. Right Click on the 95(A,B)1x system type of this record. Don't change it, just right click on it and hit insert record. This should push 22439 down one record.
Now look at 4384, it should be on record 473 now. Let's use this as a model for our new record.
1.On the blank #465 record, change it to 95(A,B)/1x.
2.Change Neg/Pref to Pref (if you put Neg, this tells your phone not to use this)
3.Geography is going to be New (will change the one below it in a few)
4.Priority will be More (means this record has more priority than the next one)
5.Acq Index will be the same as 4384 (tells it which channels to scan), should be 14.
6.Roam Indicator should be a 1 (1 = Sprint, 160 = US roaming icon, 228 = international roaming)
7.Assn Incl Should be Yes since we want EVDO
8.Assn Tag will be 16 to use the value 16 flagged records in this Geo for EVDO.
9.Pn Assn should be No
10.Data Assn should be No
11.SID should be 4384
12.NID should be 502.
Now very important, don't forget this. On record 466 (22439 SID) you need to change the Geo to Same.
I would also change the Preferred Roaming List ID at the top to something like 25996 or something weird so you can check your settings/about screen from time to time as Sprint will automatically update your PRL sometimes.
So basically what happens now is when your phone does a network scan it looks for 4384/502 (your airave) first. If it can't find it, it looks for the 22439 on 800SMR, if it can't find that it will look for the 4384/65535.
I haven't tested this as I have no way of testing it in my area so please let me know if this works. In theory it should work though.

Here's what the finished product looks like on PRL 25010, line 460 was added.
http://img268.imageshack.us/img268/9894/prly.png
3) Uploading the modified PRL
A) Referring back to step 1G above, simply load the modified prl into the DFS tool, then click write to submit to the phone.
B) Exit diag mode in the phone by pressing MENU, DISABLE
C) Reboot the phone
NOTE: If you don't have QPST or don't want to go through the hassle of modifying your own PRL, below is the modified one. It's based on PRL 25010; I call it 25011.
25011.PRL http://db.tt/wk9muM1j
So now, when at home, the phone locks to the airave for voice, and either LTE, wifi, or 3G (via airave) for data. Also, it transitions properly too. When the airave is unplugged, phone locks back onto SID 22439. When the airave is again available, phone locks back to it.
Although my particular signal level is acceptable when on the 22439 sid, the airave signal is obviously much stronger. A side benefit is better battery life.
So if I have an airave I can just change my PRL to 25011 using QPST or do I have to follow all the steps above?
BD, I wouldn't do anything unless you're having the issue I was.
Yea I have not had many problems with my Airave until last night the mobile light was flashing for hours it finally went green on it's own, may have just been a Sprint thing who knows and thanks for your reply
Flashing trying to establish a connection, or flashing because maybe someone else was locked on to it... Did you get the usual 3 beeps when making a call?
My issue came to be mainly after LTE was lit up around here. That's when I started noticing the phone connecting to that strange 22439 sid and handoffs to the airave were flaking out.
To be honest I was told when someone connected to the Airave there was a beep but... mine has never beeped even when I make a call. So maybe I have it hooked up wrong. My setup is modem to router to Airave. I had it modem to Airave to router before but I noticed my internet was slowing down could be all in my head but after I changed it my speeds went up
The three beeps I refer to are heard on the HANDSET's earpiece. Not from the airrave itself. The flashing top light (Mobile light) flashes during the device's init process and whenever there is a voice/data connection in use.
As for hooking up, modem - router - airave should be fine. Considering how much grief it's caused, I don't trust it to function as a router. In fact, I have a dedicated lan port on my wrt54g that separates the airave onto it's own subnet so it's completely isolated from the rest of my network.
Ok I was wondering why all of a sudden my phone would beep when I made a call hahaha thanks for clearing that up
I was having the same problem... So I called sprint and they sent me a new 2.5 airave. 2 days later perfect connection and faster 3g... Cost for me - $0.00
^^How did you describe your problem to them?
I told 'em mine would work for data but not voice.
They never offered to swap it out for me. Too late now.

2.5 airrave?? I'm curious which one that is, i have a tall white one, my evo 3d would connect fine but the evo connects sometimes and usually it wont, also when my phone has lte (at home) it randomly drops to 3g or 1x and does a dance...

Thanks!
I stumbled across this thread after a frustrating 3 days, and 8+ hours on the phone with Airave support. I don't have an Evo, but I do have a Galaxy S3 and was experiencing similar problems. My GS3 would not connect to the Airave 2.5 at all. They suggested replacing my handset (for a refurb, nonetheless), but I was convinced it had to be something else.
After installing your modified PRL, it works perfectly. I connect to the Airave with no problem for voice every time.
Thank you! :good:
The prl i linked in the OP is a bit outdated at this point, but the technique is still good. Grab a current prl from one of the prl threads and just apply the change.
Attached is a modified 16013 prl. I renamed it to 16913 .
After downloading just rename to 16913.prl, it's not an actual zip file.
You an also dial *99 it will now connected to air rave coverage

@gpz1100, two questions. First, I have done this yet my phone will still randomly prefer anything over my airave. Using the modded PRL used to work but about 2 weeks ago quit. When I say anything, Sprint PCS, Sprint 1xA or even Verizon. Been through all the support stuff, went back to stock PRL and activation. Thoughts??
Second, when I use DFS to read the PRL and then save it, the PRL file is 0 bytes. I can load up a saved PRL file and write it to the phone no problem so the basics have been covered. This would be a S3.
It seems you've left the big S though.
1) Need to where in the PRL you've added the airave sid/nid combo. Location makes a difference because entries at the top have greater priority than those at the bottom. Use a tool like cdma field test tool to determine where you're actually connecting. Then see where that SID is in the prl relative to your airrave sid.
2) Something is wrong, are you unlocking the device properly before reading the prl? Perhaps you need to use a 16 digit password to read the prl? I'm not familiar with the s3, so you'll get little help there. Maybe check in the s3 section to see what's required to successfully read a prl.
3) I am officially done with sprint. Good riddance. Going on over a month now on a big red mvno. Data much improved over sprint.

I actually went to the last entry in the previous Geo and over-wrote that with SID 4418 NID 501 which are what my Airave is transmitting on. I made that entry "new" for the Geo I'm in and changed the previous first Geo entry to same. Digiblur suggested I see what channel my Airave was transmitting on to make sure the channel was in the the acq record for me Geo. That channel was not so I added it. From then things were great until about 2 weeks ago. Since then it seems several people are having problems connecting to the Airave's.
The device gets unlocked, I get message indicating so in the DFS log.
I dunno. Frustrating.
Ok so I too had this issue with my evo4g lte not connecting to my new airave 2.5. I called airave customer support and after trouble shooting some things the tech finally pushed a new prl to my phone and all was taken care of. I am using prl 61096. He said if my phone tried to update the prl automatically I would loose the ability to connect to my airave so I just switched back to cm10.2 after I hung up the phone with them and I haven't had an issue with it yet.
If you don't have a need for huge data consumption, and verizon has good coverage in your area, come to the darkside - prepaid... Even save a few bucks!
@SleepyS40, you are very lucky you got a competent tech who understood why it wasn't connecting. Those are few and far between (competent techs that is). Had you remained on sense, sprint could potentially push a prl update automatically.
