Broken power button - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Anyone come across a broken power button? It seems like it "caved" in and to operate it, I have to use my fingernail and press very hard. Is there any way to remap the power button function to a different button or at least the screen off/on function?
Lastly, If I decide to bring it in to Verizon for repair/replacement do I need to remove the DCD Rom (awesome by the way, thanks for all of the hard work) and bring it back to original spec?
Thanks to any and all.....
-Fletch

Yes flash it back to stock. Put on a SD Card. I did it to mine that way from the ROM on the WIKI Site

Ya, try this app.... Works great....

Thanks azclown, that program certainly helps deal with this issue. I know there is a way to then map this to a key...the whole program or just the display function? Thanks again.

The bottom row of keys on my xv6800 have all but stoped working. What i'm wondering is, is there a way to backup everything, from the device, the rom and all to restore back to the device?

I had the same problem with one of my side buttons... they sent me refurb np.
You should def be sure to knock that back to stock and relock it... I haven't actually heard of anyone getting "busted" sending back a hacked ROM on their device, but I'm sure if someone is bein' finicky they could def nail you on warranty void and charge you for a replacement.

my ameo seems totally bricked..

hello..
this is my first posting in the potal but not good news..
i was trying to unlock my ameo with AthenaUnlocker. I did well step1, after that when it was about to finish step 2, my ameo went off and never comes back.
i tried to do hardreset but it didn't come back after restoring. i can't get into the bootloader, neither.
is it bricked? i'm still in warranty. if i send it to htc or tmobile, can it be back?
please, give your hand.
thx.
rom ver was 2.35 and radio ver was 1.50
If you hold down your camera button without releasing it, then poke the reset hole with the stylus, do you see the tree color screen with Olipro's name on it?
i did what you said..

Bricked FUZE!!!

How does att find out if your phone is bricked or not?
When I start up my fuze it stays at the Att boot screen.
Any help?
Try hard reset? Hold volume down button, press the select button (center click of the d-pad), and then put the stylus in the reset hole. If it still screwed up, you might try what I've seen mentioned on here....kind of radical, but 2-3 people say it works. Pull your sim card & SD mini card (if you have one), now get this....stick the phone in the microwave for two seconds. It fries it good and apparently (I've not done this) they can't tell you've bricked it. Then you can request a warranty exchange.
If you haven't already tried hard resetting your phone you can do the following:
Hold pressed the volume down button together with the round "OK" button and while holding those press the reset button with the tip of the stylus (it is located right next to the usb / charging port) until you see a white screen with blue letters. It will ask you to press volume up to restore the original ROM - just foolow the instructions and you'll be fine! Hope i've helped!
yea ive tried holding vol down button and the center and tried restoring it, but it still doesnt boot up after that. How do they find out if it bricked or not?

Rather than trying to hard reset, have you verified whether you can or cannot enter Bootloader mode? If you can, you should be able to flash a stock ROM to your device.
That has happened to me a while back, here is what I did.
Put your phone into Bootloader mode,
press and hold the volume down button, then press the reset button with the stylus. Release the volume down button when bootloader tricolour screen appears**
Plug your phone back into your PC and flash another ROM.
How will ATT know if you bricked your fuze? Well, if you send it in for service, that's how they'll know if you bricked it. More to the point, what did you do to your fuze to get it into the current state? Have you flashed any cooked roms on it, or are you on the stock rom/spl/radio/etc.? If so, you shouldn't have too much to worry about from a warranty perspective. Have you flashed any roms onto your fuze? Did you flash hard spl (1.90.olinex)? Did you flash a cdma rom onto your fuze (in other words, one you downloaded from ppc geeks or the cdma forum here)? Did you flash a non-compliant radio? You might as well spit out a little info if you want any help.

providing you won't end up exploding your phone. whoa!
Pumpiron579,
Thanky you and all who has helped me. Worked in bootloader screen. Phone now works.
I wondered about that myself, but, I've seen a couple of posts on XDA about putting the phone into a microwave for 2 seconds. I'm sure the magnatron tube in the microwave will "really" appreciate it LOL

I would pull the battery, that's most likely to explode.
I know I saw the thread before on how to revert your phone to send it back to warranty, but I can't find the thread. If anyone can be kind to please post that link here.

Last week end I had the same problem and I folllowed this method and it worked for me. I flashed the stock ROM and then flashed the EnergyROM, now every thing is working fine.
This might work for vietxboi825 too.

Actually, I had a friend brick his verizon touch pro. He nuked it for two seconds and they exchanged it. No questions asked.
if you put anything metal in your microwave for very long, especially electronics, you can kiss that microwave good bye. my baby brother put a gameboy in the microwave and 5 seconds later the microwave was dead, the gameboy miraculously survived though.
they last a lil longer with forks...

[Q] :(:(:( ... My HTC HD2 is Dead .. Please help !!!

my HD2 won't go in bootloader, i can't connect my phone in bootloader ... try many thing but everything's wrong !!!! need a Real HELP
Have you tried doing the key-press hard reset?
Remove the back cover from the HD2, now hold down the volume up and down keys, while also holding down the end call key. Now press in the red reset button under the back cover to the bottom left of the SIM, release the reset button and your finger on the end call button at the same time, but keep the volume up and down buttons pressed in. You should after a while of holding be presented with a white screen giving instructions to either continue with the reset to the manufacturers default, or press any key to cancel
Good luck!
you dont need to touch the reset button to hard reset.
phone off
vol up and vol down held
tap and release power.
that's it.
I already do That... Don't work ... !!! Please help

you can't, it is a professional tool which costs thousands of dollars.
Try to claim insurance or warranty on it, or sell it for parts and pick up another used one.
If you flash an incompatible radio on your phone, it will brick.

Power / Lock Button Sucks

Just recently my top button to unlock and power up my phone has been sucking....I have to push it much much harder than you should have to. I can no longer turn on the phone with one hand unless the bottom of the phone is pushing against something else.
Is there any fix for this? Or should I start looking for something to make my camera button do this job or something?
Running MeanBean by the way if that matters.
Thanks.

Honestly ? Fix it. The reasons should be obvious (and relate to recovery from any dramas you might end up having, which happen to all of us at one point or another).
Swichr is an app that replaces home button. You swipe from the screen corner and get a menu with recent apps and a home button on the top. Here it is on the Play store https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mohammad.adib.switchr
You can try a custom rom that has on screen navbar option. I saw this option on Dirty Unicorns but I dont use the option. Im sure other Roms has it also.
use pie
Sent from my GT-I9100 using Tapatalk
@MistahBungle is right.......there WILL come a time when you need a home button, and when that happens a 'virtual' button just won't help.......
Best advice....get it replaced....
If you can get it done under Samsung's 2 year warranty, all the better, as replacing the button involves removing the screen....which WILL break.....
Sent from my Infected KitKat bar.....
LMT launcher, in Android hacking/app and games. I use it, it's better than pie in every respect IMO.
And no matter what happens, you DON'T need a home button, worst possible case scenario you reboot Cwm and back up, to restore later or reinstall a new rom
and add lwt launcher straight away.
Try "PIMP MY ROM" from google store,it has an option to enable homescreen buttons.
All these people telling the OP about different ROMs and apps need to stop and think......
What good will ANY of them do if the OP's phone won't boot and the only way to get it running will be to use the button combo to get into recovery to wipe data and/or flash a new ROM?....will any of these mods or tweaks help then?.......
And to the poster who said "you'll NEVER NEED a home button"....you can believe that if you want, but don't try to get others to believe a statement that is so obviously blatantly wrong........

Ok, kindly explain YOUR blatantly wrong post. My home button broke 18 months ago, and not once has it made the SLIGHTEST difference to me using navbars/on screen buttons. I flash 2 roms at least a week and have no issue at all.
So, Mr. Knowledge , when would the lack of a physical home button actually matter? bearing in mind it has never affected me. I'm genuinely interested.

Likewise, a 'clown' ? care to elaborate or just throw unnecessary comments around? As said, my home button doesnt work and hasnt done. So my comment 'you dont need a physical home button' is 100% true.
You my friend, seem to be the only clown on here, recommending he tries a physical repair when an app, a free app at that, can do all he asked it to do,
Bearing in mind again, you can actually BUY real phones from REAL shops that come, as STANDARD with no physical home button, or buttons at all, using a navbar. Cant believe these manufacturers have been so stupid to release these products without checking with you guys first.....

Are you really that dim?.......
How about this then........
The phone does not boot.....
so that makes your 'free app' about as much use as a chocolate teapot......
The only way to get it up and running is to factory reset/wipe the device or flash a firmware via Odin.
You need to access recovery or download mode.
How do you do that?.......
By pressing "power" (you've guessed it) "HOME" and either "vol up" or "vol down" keys together........
HOW YOU GONNA DO THAT IF YOUR HOME BUTTON'S SC**WED?
So me? blatantly wrong? I DON'T THINK SO.......
And about "clown"......if the cap fits, wear it.......

Sigh......
power/reboot/reboot recovery/dowmload.....
then CWM doesnt need home, nor odin.... then reboot.
I say again, 18months with no home button, has not affected me once. You may THINK it does, but I KNOW it doesnt. Failing that, Enable debugging, adb can be used when the animation starts, so, simply do adb reboot recovery/download.
Sigh........
Power/reboot/recovery/download options DO NOT appear on STOCK shutdown menu. Admittedly you won't have cwm on stock, but you still have the option to factory reset......
So still wanna tell me you DON'T need a home button?.....
Somebody needs to do some research methinks......

I'm not saying it's easier, or not a faff. I'm saying I had no confidence opening up my phone to replace parts. This solution yes, takes longer and us annoying but does work, it is working on my phone now. I'd rather this than attempt a repair and completely break my phone, or pay someone to do it.
So tell me how YOU'D recover an unbootable totally stock phone without a functioning home button........

Firstly, the OP hasnt said its unbootable, and has a rom running. Therefore can advanced power menu. with exposed if on a stock rom, easy.
Second, can add the navbar/LMP app whatever....
Then can if need be boot to logo and adb reboot recovery.
recovery doesnt need the home button.
IF this cant be done, which has never been mentioned, then yes. He pretty much needs to replace the button. But it hasnt been mentioned, so therefore all my advice is perfectly sound UNTIL it wont boot at all.
THEN he is screwed
So.....are you still maintaining that you'll NEVER NEED a home button?
