Bought Cheap Hurricane, Can't unlock. - HTC Hurricane

I've bought a hurricane recently, I've read and tried all the possible ways to unlock the phone but it is still locked. I did all the steps associated with SPV Service but I always get this message: Illegal readZone attempt -RAPI init failed.
Can anyone help me, please?

Ok, I unlocked the phone. My problem was Vista, I had to use XP to do it. Now I need a cool cooked wm6 or wm6.1 ruu rom, any offer.

My SPV M3100 won't start...

Hello.
I have a problem I hope someone here can help me to solve..
I have an Orange SPV M3100 that hangs on the Windows Mobile screen when I try to start it.
I'm able to go into bootloader mode, and i have tried using mtty142.exe with the set 14 0 command. It still won't boot. I've also tried to hard reset it.. still won't boot..
What I did was trying to unluck the SIM-lock with the Universal unlocker (HTC_Uni_Unlock_v1) from buzz. At the time I thought universal meant that it worked on all HTC devices (stupid, I know)... And I also thought it was harmless to just try and see if it worked. But I got an error around 92-93% and after that my device won't start. So my radio ROM might be screwed.
I'd like to flash my ROM with the i-mate one (JASJAM_WWE_1.20.305.3_1.20.305.104_1.07.03.10_ship.exe) and then add the ext-rom. But how do I do that when I can just access the bootloader screen? And do you think it will boot again if I'm able to flash it?
Here's some more info about my device:
HERM100
IPL-1.01
SPL-1.04
Thank you very much in advance. Help will be highly appreciated.
No your rom *is* screwed. You can get into bootloader, you can even get to 11% of a dopod etc rom upgrade if you try, but you will not flash a new radio.
You CAN boot the device.
Do a hard reset, but do not press spacebar to reboot after. Instead, do a soft reset. The unit should boot but as you've screwed the radio you will not get a gsm signal and the phone will say unknown sim status.
I know this as I bought one cheap after the owner had done exactly the same as you.
IMEI-check's unlock solution is the only one that works IIRC, and in some cases this re-writes the security area of the phone and repairs similar issues, but in this case I could not get the prog to read.
You need to return the device to HTC - you'll need to pay approx £35 for reflashing back to the orange rom. This is what I had to do.
Currently you cannot book the m3100 in through the web as it's too new, instead email / call them.

edit - or if you're an orange customer ring 150 and act dumb saying it ' won't work'....

What happens if you just leave the phone in bootloader mode and then try to flash any ROM (imate, dopod, htc...)? run 2 times the RomUpgradeUt.exe if you get an error on the 1st try.
If you get an error while running the rom upgrade utility you can monitor the USB port while upgrading (you will see the real error from the bootloader then), there's some more info on this wiki page:

good luck

No, if you want to send it back under warranty do not try to run a rom update as there are no orange rom packages. As described in my post above, it will get to 11% and stop. The device will be in the same state as before, with the same ext rom, but the splash screen and bootloader will have changed.
i.e: it will be bloomin obvious you tried flashing it and failed. Not what you want if you try for a warranty repair....
There is no error from the bootloader - as there is no radio rom present and no security area the upgrade process just hangs.

That's true, do not try to flash any other roms if you want to use the warranty or send the device back...
Thank you very very much for your help guys.
As I'm the administrator of these devices in the company I work for I just grabbed a new SPV and will send this thing back to Orange. It sounded like I'm getting a new one..
Well, I think I've learnt my lession.
Oh, and I have another question. Is there a reg editor I can install on this one so I can remove the app lock? I know I can install java apps, but it's a bit grumpy about apps that needs installation (the developer must be certificated).
Cheers guys.
Hi,
Try to flash a new rom using the SD card method described here:

The rom must match your CID. Let us know if it works

Sorry to take the thread a bit OT, but just wanted to confirm this again.
So, if I flashed my M3100 with a different ROM, and then had to return the phone to Orange for repair for a different reason, I can send it back to HTC just to have the ROM reflashed, and then send the phone to Orange to get the repairs done?
I've been hesitating on whether to flash the phone with a non-Orange ROM because I didn't want to give up the ability to obtain warranty repair (as there is no ROM upgrade yet). If it's just a matter of £35 and then everything else as normal, maybe it's not so bad...
Thanks!

Japanese ROM 1.23.731.2 from Docomo hTc Z (2006-10-23)

Japanese ROM from DoCoMo hTc Z has been uploaded to XDA-Developers FTP and added to the Hermes wiki, you can find it under the Available Original Shipped ROM Versions.
Notes on this ROM:
ROM Version: 1.23.731.2 06/24/06
Radio Version: 1.06.00.10
Bootloader: 1.04
Language: JPN (Japanese)
CID: DOCOM801
As you can see this is nothing new, but I guess it will be useful for people with this CID to be able to downgrade to bootloader 1.04.
Enjoy
Hi pof,
Thanks for that. I tried this to flash my X01HT after unlocking it with imei-check but with no luck. RUU went successufully till the last screen and I hit the upgrade but it returned an error saying something like this RUU cannot be used for the device. Bootloader is now 1.04 and the device should be SuperCID with imei-check. The only thing I can think of is that I upgraded the radio to your 1.2. Would that screw SuperCID? I appreciate your advice in advance.
Thanks,
harryk
harryk1372: If you are in 1.04 bootloader just run the upgrade utility again without disconnecting the device or start the upgrade in bootloader mode to bypass CID checking.
If it is really SuperCID then you shouldn't have seen this error.
Hi pof,
Thanks very much for getting back to me so quickly.
I ran the upgrade in the bootloader mode. I thought that I don't have to run it twice if the device is already at the SuperCID state and didn't run the update twice. I'll try it again when the device is fully charged as the battery is now down to like 30%.
I'll post the result again when I am done. Thanks again for your prompt advice. You're the man and I really appreciate your efforts taking us thus far in cracking Hermes.
Regards,
harryk
Hi pof,
The device looks like it was not in the SuperCID state and RUU went fine with the second run with no error. However, the upgrade failed when it hit exactly 47% no matter how many times I tried it. Lucky that I did not brick my device but of course it seemed to lack some of the components and it did not even have the Connections setting to set up the Internet access. Also, AutoRun and cabs in the ExtRom didn't take any effect either although the cab files were there.
I decided to flash the TyTN ROM instead and that was successful. That is fine as I only use Japanese occasionally and I didn't really want the Japanese MUI so I will keep it as is. Perhaps I will tweak it a little to be able to use Japanese with loading the Chinese nls, Japanese font, Japanese IME and so forth just like I did with my Universal.
Thanks again.
harryk
Does anyone succeed in flushing Docomo ROM to X01HT?

Especially when I write SMS message, it will disturb me over and over.

X01HT Unlocking Problem
I've got this X01HT a few days ago from S/B shop but when I tried unlocking it the result was no good using my cable. I read from other site that X01HT released from December 2006 cannot be unlocked. Please give me some clarifications on this and also, is FLASHING on lower rom version even in english version can resolve the problem...? Your response will so much appreciated.
Thanks in advance.
At the moment it's not possible to unlock X01HT devices wich where bought after 12/1/2006 and have bootloader version 1.09 and RadioROM version 1.14.0.10! Please be patient.
To the experts, I need some advice. I intend to get a X01HT, already unlocked and flashed with the dopod 838 pro firmware. However, I intend to flash back the Japanese shipped rom :
RUU_HER_DoCoMo_1.23.731.2_1.06.00.10_JPN_SHIP.zip
What are the requirements esp where :
Bootloader (SPL)
Latest Radio Bootloader (HTC_BOOT)
Or since its unlocked, do I just go to the bootloader mode and flash direct? Any side effects if I do so, since its changing from an english rom of another clone (Dopod 838 pro, WM6)?
I am not even sure if the RUU_HER_DoCoMo_1.23.731.2_1.06.00.10_JPN_SHIP.zip rom is WM5/6. Please advice, thanks..

1.09 bootloader and corrupt CID?

I've seen a few posts now with people having issues with the 1.09 SPL and info 2 returning CID timeout followed eventually by HTCSF kEØ>HTCEUSB.
My M3100 sits at the Windows mobile screen, and doesnt progress. Also get the NO GSM message in the bootloader.
Trying to upgrade (any version) using an activesync connection always fails with device not found errors.
Trying to upgrade (any version) using a bootloader connection usually fails with an invalid country id (244 error?).
Using the japanese downgrade method also gives a country id error.
Using POFs radio only upgrade has no effect (as expected as ipl >1.04).
Using imea-check's tools always gets an invalid device message - apparently due to the required commands not being available.
Incidently - I'm sure that I've only had this problem since running imea-check unlock, however they insist that their software could not do this and are blaming a harware fault... hmm, doubtful to say the least.
Has anyone had any success with reviving the device from this state - I'd be interested if POF's (forthcomming?!) unlock tool will work.......
Any suggestions... it sounds like there's enough "bricks" out there to build a wall.......
Oh, and also tried troubleshooting stuck at Windows Mobile screen as in Wiki, no effect.
I have the same problems....
I take a hard decision. i take it to assistance support, because I was loosing too much time in following all the instructions.
i just hope they can solve my problems in 15/20 days (as they told me) in the cheaper way possible.

Cingular 8525 spl 1.06 unlocked (XP only not VISTA)

Thanks POF, my 8525 is unlocked, but I have gone through hell with Vista so just to let you all know that "don't try these upgrades on VISTA".
I have read many posts and finally got it to unlock. In any case, here is what I did (on a XP box with activeSYNC 4.2 - it is running all the time for each of the steps below):
1) on XP, connect the phone to XP and make sure ActiveSync see the phone. Run the exe in 1.30 ROM for Cingular to download the SPL to 1.04. After this the phone will reboot/restart itself.
2a) On XP, with ActiveSync running and connected, run POF's MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe within the unlocker v2a xip file to upgrade the radio to version 1.16. If it fails with ERROR 114, go to step (3); else go to step (2b).
2b) If the first time failed, DON'T TOUCH THE PHONE. Run the exe again and the second time should run fine. There is a 114 error at the end and it is OK. Once you get the 114 error, soft-reset the phone before next step.
3) On the phone, flash with POF's unlocker (v2a) ON THE PHONE MEMORY HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe (in the zip file same as above download for unlock v2a). There is a success notice at the end.
That is it. Hope this help someone.
Andy
And what about the CID matching
Good for you! Tomorrow I´ll be picking up my 8525 and I´am anxious to unlock it and strat using it, in preparation I´ve been reading throughout the forum and looks for me that it was very simple for you (except for the issues caused by Vista). I was wondering if you had to check the CID in your device or if you just went blind into the procedure regardless the CID inconveniences?
Why don't 8525 users simply call cingular for the subsidy unlock code? Its cleaner, faster, and there is no risk to brick'ing your phone.
I really don't get it.
Just followed your steps and it worked for me as well. The first time I ran MaUpgradeUt_noID it failed with a 112 country code. But like you said, run it the second time and it worked.
Just popped my tmobile sim in and am going to install blackberry connect because that sim has by BES enabled and see what happens
Thanks much!!

I asked the rep in the cingular store, they lie to me, telling me just call the 611 customer support number and they will unlock me. So, it is a company phone and I said fine.
I have been cingular for years and I will definitely switch to TMOBILE once this expire! I had tmobile before and they just require me to be with them for 90 days before I call.
About the 611 call, they ask me to join the $6.99/mo global travelling plan.

All you have to say is you're travelling outside the United States and wish to use the phone with a different sim. They will do it right there and then, or they will log a ticket to have some other group do it. It can be had instantly, just a matter of whether the rep you talk to have access to that system. The unlock code is based off of your IMEI number.
I think there is a number in the wiki page that connects you directly to their roaming group of some sort. I just dialed 611 and they emailed it to me the next day without any additional plan.
You'll simply roam on other carrier if cingular network isn't found.

Having your post as a starting point and after a lot of reading through out the threads I suceed to unlock my 8525 spl 1.06.
I found a couple of issues during the unlock
1.- After 2% progress I got an Error # 262 (Update Error) so I had to get into the recovery procedure, but it was very easy and finally I downgraded to ROM 1.30.502.1
2.- During the Radio Patch flash I got the Error # 120 (Country Error), but as you instructed I only had to rerun the exe and at the end I got the expected Error # 114
Thnk you and pof, I guess I wouldn´t dare if I had read your post.....
I see that you can't do this in VISTA.

No, I don't think so.
For example, T-Mobile in Germany has the code T-MOB101
So, it's maybe for US-Ameos or GB-Ameos (I don't know)

Try get into bootloader (press "camera button+stylus reset for atleast 10 seconds") then try to unlock with Olipro's unlocker (read the unlock thread first) then you can load any Rom as you want. If you unlock you can revive the device.
Good luck
Hi
Thank you for your advice. The problem is. I can go into boatloader but. It doesnt recognice a connected device. I have windows vista, if i plug in usb. It makes a sound for connection but nothing else happens.
In unlock utility it says i have to establish a activesync connection. How can i do this with only boatloader possible.
Does the unlocker work, if the rom is screwed. If it does it would be awesome and solve my problem. but plz advice on how i can make a connection to pc.

Hi Sexxmax,
I'm new to this forum (getting an Ameo tomorrow) so I may be wrong but the problem may be because you have Windows Vista. I remember reading on the Universal forum that flashing and unlocking is almost impossible to do on a Vista PC.
Interesting point. I tryed the unlocker on xp too. didn´t work either. But could it be that i get the wrong vender id as a result of that.
Do you get a german ameo? Then you could make a backup of the rom for me.

No, I'm getting the English Ameo. There's a member on this forum called tupisdin. From what I can tell he/she is quite the expert at recovering devices that are experiencing errors. Try messaging him/her or searching for his/her posts.
