Hi all, I'm running spb on my ameo and all is well. I've just got hold of spb online and am wanting to give it a try. HOWEVER, I install it to my device and it says installation has been successful but it is nowhere to be found. Has anyone managed to get it working? Could it be because spb is still installed? Is the correct way to uninstall by remove programs?
Thanks for any advice.
spb online works ok
you need the latest version there was a problem with v1 on athena latest version works fine on mine
Hiya,
due to my brother not having the luck of having Froyo on his phone I took a look at it and hacked the newst YouTube app to work with Eclair. I had to remove two calls and add android.util.base64 which was introduced with Froyo. However, it should work flawlessly. If you encounter any problems, feel free to post here along with a little description and if possible a logcat dump of the exception.

You have to remove the default YouTube app before you can install this one over.
Using ADB Shell this should just work:
adb remount
adb shell rm system/app/YouTube.apk
adb uninstall com.google.android.youtube
then you can just install it over using the package manager or with adb (adb install YouTube_signed.apk).
Hope this helps, enjoy the re-designed Youtube app!
Wow, this app is so much cleaner. Thank you so much for the work and tutorial.
Small FYI, I'm on Bionix Fusion 1.1 and the stock app is actually YouTubeHD.apk so that ADB command is slightly different for that ROM.
Tested working, thx.
works perfectly. i installed it via Root Explorer.

+1 thankyou
works great thanks
Thank you. This is the best UI for the You Tube app to date. Installed with Root Explorer. The other files I deleted besides the system/app apk were in data/data and data/dalvik-cache. Running great on JI6.
I used the Root Explorer to replace a system app for the first time. Indeed a neat practice with no risk involved.
Thank you
Oh yeah and it's working fine !!!!!!
Btw, I 've question about data/dta and data/dalvik-cache. With the Root Explorer do I just empty the entire data/data and data/dalvik-cache folder? If not how do you find the files that's responsible for the corresponding old app
How about Voice action from 2.2?
u are the man !
Gingerbread has been released? When did this happen? I think he means Froyo right?
Works in froyo too!

This is the version of Youtube that comes with Gingerbread. It happens to work for 2.2+ and they released in to the market.
Working great with Fusion 1.1 thanks man!
For some strange reason, it doesn't want to install for me. I uninstalled the YouTubeHD using Titanium and not I'm trying to install the package. No go.
working great on Bionix Fusion... installed using root explorer...
Delete Youtube HD, copy new YouTube and restart the phone.
@kangxi - Same thing happened to me. go into settings-applications-manage applications and uninstall the youtube file. then this should install fine.

Same here. Good instructions.
Got it, had to delete the com.android.youtube
Edit: The new widget is really nice too!
Works great! I used Root Explorer to install it and remove the old Youtube. Thanks for sharing!
Hi,
I saw this script the other day and was wondering if it was able to be installed onto the Legend. I tried to run it in Terminal Emulator but the only thing it said was "Note: Busybox v1.16.2 or Higher is Recommended!" leading me to believe it doesn't work on the Legend. Has anyone else been able to use this script?
Thanks
What rom you trying to install it to? The busy box just needs an update, go to market and get busy box update app and use it to update, then try it again, I have used it successfully on the legendary legend fuse rom. Too lazy to try it on the ics I'm using
P.s. I think you need s-off or unlocked bootloader 1.02 to use it.
sent from my legend, currently using zeubea ics beta0
I'm running ExtremeLegendFuse. I've tried 2 BusyBox updater apps from the Play Store and they just dont load or sit at one step. I have 1.02 unlocked bootloader as well. I'm really stumped by this problem. Is the V6 Script worth it?

OK
I believe that busy box can be installed in different locations, not sure what circumstances this is, either in /system/bin or /system/xbin, well that's the options given by the version of busy box installer I've got, the one by Stephen sericson
Try both locations and see which works for you.
The other question "is it worth it" well I can't personally say I noticed any real speed increase or any other benefits, however, others may do themselves.

I've used the script back then with extreme legend fuse rom. Try download Busybox installer from the market and choose busybox version 1.82.xx.
Bout is it worth it questions i thinks its worth it. Less lag and buttery smooth for me
Sent from my Legend using XDA
Yes, it's worth it. I used it on the Gingerbread Sense ROM. No more Sense redraws and better multitasking. Though after a few days, things tended to get sluggish, so I would let it reboot and everything feels snappy again. The engine flush option didn't do much here.
Busybox
I used Stericsons' Busybox from the market, works perfectly. 1.19.something. (Or use the attached busybox in the script's topic)
S-off / Unlocked
Ranger4740 is right about the need to have write access to the system partition: you need either s-off or an unlocked 1.02 bootloader.
Scrolling speed in script
Personally I hate Script Manager, Terminal Emulator works just fine. Make sure you set the scrolling speed to fast. There is plenty of time to see what's going on, so no need to set it to slow or medium unless you have a serious form of dyslexia
V6 Supercharger on ICS
The script is not usable on ICS in a way it was on GB. "ICS doesn't read ADJ values from build.prop or local.prop - they are hardcoded into services.jar"
This services.jar can be modded, but your ROM has to be deodexed. 99,9% of Legend users on ICS use Zeubea's ROM, which is odexed. Instructions to mod the services.jar in odexed ROMs can be found here:

I have a problem. When I open BusyBox Free by Stericson, after it does initial checks, it comes up with a message that says:
I am unable to verify whether or not certain utilities needed for this application to run are present and functional on your device. You can try to install Busybox regardless, but it may fail. This problem could be caused by a device that is not properly rooted or by superuser settings that are misconfigured

(Note: I do have unlocked hboot 1.02)
Also, when I try to open Script Manager, it just gives me a black screen. I think I might just reflash the ROM as my Wifi isn't working either :/
EDIT: I reflashed Fuse and everythings working, Wifi and the V6 script.
BusyBox by STEPHEN & JRummy16 {confirmed} nukes WiFi, Bluetooth & Cellular Data
I had what appears to be the latest update to BusyBox by STEPHEN (STERICSON) nuke my WiFi, Bluetooth, and cellular data.
I was able to restore to an earlier backup which restored functionality. Once I installed BusyBox by STEPHEN (STERICSON) and went into it and ran it's internal install/update the above was nuked again.
Is there a different BusyBox we can use?
I saw 1 other person with this same issue... Anyone else?
How do we confront STEPHEN with this and see if he knows and can fix it before we all nuke our ATRIX's
update... I just created a recovery of my fully working system, went into Play, got BusyBox by STEPHEN, opened it and installed it, restarted phone and guess what....
WiFi will not connect to anything, Bluetooth will not come on and Cellular Data does not work.
CONFIRMED [latest, June 15, 2012] BusyBox by STEPHEN (STERICON) and the one by JRummy16 kills ALL data connections!
Are you replacing/symlinking all applets to Busybox? Do this can have the issue that you mentioned.
Also, have you tried installing to xbin rather than /bin?
I downloaded, installed, open and let it finish scanning and then use the Install, no changes to location or clicking any boxes.
I've done it this way with every update I receive.
What changed?
Nothings changed, however there was a bug with version 8.0 of my application which caused everything to be symlinked to busybox. This caused issues, like your describing, on some devices. However this was fixed with version 8.1 and above. Unfortunately, In order to resolve the problem, you need to reflash your rom which will restore the system applets that should not have been replaced by the symlinks to busybox.
After getting everything working, you should be able to use Busybox as normal to upgrade busybox.
Nope.... Reflashed the ROM... add the latest BusyBox, run it and bang. Once I restart all 3 fail.
I've had to flash it 3 times with this and the last couple of times I just made a recovery image before trying it.
Are there any alternative applications of this that we could try on the ATRIX?
Can I ask a silly question? Why are you trying to update it if the version you know works is not messing with things? Kind of a "if it ain't broke" thing to me.
Does this happen with all version of Busybox provided by myself, or does it only happen with, let's say, 1.20.1?
Whatever the latest upgrade is, as far as I can tell 8.4 as listed in Play. I also tried it with the other BusyBox by JRunmmy16 with the same results.
I would load an older one and check, if I had the apk to load.
...to answer pre4speed's "silly question"... Updates are out there for a purpose, I should hope, and I take advantage of them when offered unless I know of an issue and then I wait for the next update that we hope resolves it.
I don't mean the version of the installer, rather the version of Busybox. Select an older version from the dropdown and see if that works.
OK... I reloaded your BusyBox and restarted. No issues.
I have not run any of the internal "Install"
Question, do I need to run the internal install process?
I will come back to this later, got activities to attend tonight.
Stephen... Thanks for the help with this, I know I am not the only ATRIX user with this issue.

I agree also with that. I am by no means saying you shouldn't try. And I guess by you testing the new version, you found a bug, reported it, and got a resolution. So Im truly sorry if I stepped on toes, I didn't think of that when asking. I do the same thing.
Lesson learned... pass it on.
... running good. Looks like as long as you do NOT open BusyBox and run its' internal install process everything stays working.
Lesson learned.
@pre4speed No sweat. I've "always" open utilities that I download and "ASS u ME" that you should be able to run whatever they offer inside them. My thinking is that if it is there run it... If it is a buried run command, I shy away until I find out more. As to BusyBox, all the prior installs I go into it and run the "Install" with no dire results. hence the thread...
Simply having the app installed does not upgrade Busybox, so you are accomplishing nothing by not running the install process.
This doesn't help fix the problem that you were/are having.
I don't know if it helps for debugging, but I've had the same problem today that the OP had. I'm on Nottachtrix 1.2.6.
Busybox installer showed up in my notification bar that an upgrade was available; I accepted it this morning (that is, I hit "Install" from within the Busybox installer app) and immediately my wifi, mobile data, and bluetooth were all dead. In addition, none of my root programs (Root Explorer, LBE Privacy, ROM toolbox, etc) would recognize that they had root access.
I then found this thread later this afternoon, and wiped/reflashed my rom which included the old Busybox version. That fixed the problem as you indicated. So far I have not re-installed Busybox installer; things are up and running with proper data access and all programs recognizing root, so I'm gonna hold here with everything running.
Are we talking about my installer, or Jrummy?
Also, Did you install 1.20.1 or an older one?
Could you test a new version if I provided it?
I will test it out... It does no good having an app that is "required" by other utilities if it nukes the phone.
Link me in a PM and I'll load it and tell you what happens.
Wish I'd have seen this thread before I tried to upgrade it.
Someone asked what the reason would be to upgrade BusyBox though. It can fix some Webtop2SD FC issues.
I'm currently with the same problem but on the Aura firmware. If i try to run any of the both apps to update my busybox it fails and leave it uninstalled.
I try the last version and a few older ones (1.19.4, 1.19, 1.18.4, 1.18, 1.14.3). Also i tried the Superuser updater to get the lastest su bin and it also fails when it tries to install busybox.
Right now on the JRummy16 installer it says:
Your device is rooted
Busybox Location: N/A
Busybox Version: N/A
System Storage: 39.78MB
Phone Model: MB860
ROM Version Aura 1.2.2.2

webtop2sd force close using the default busybox that come with the last rom build, thats why i tried to change the version.
Same here, I've tried to repair webtop2sd, using both installers, with 1.20 & 1.20.1 (didn't testes older one) but then system is unable to do any su or even use shell; none of the wireless connections work. I'll try older one. I'm on nottachtrix 1.3 with wraithdu's 1.19.4 busybox in /bin
Tab+ got nuked today Having hard time finding right firmware now to fix this. Wish I just left it alone and didn't try to update.
I have this old app "GolfSense" that was designed to work on "Android OS version 2.3.3 +".
It will not work with my S9+.
I ran across VMOS to run older apps, and downloaded it.
I uploaded the app "GolfSense" into VMOS, and ran the app. It seems to work well, but cannot get the BlueTooth to work properly. It says it is Paired, but doesn't turn blue..
Does anyone know of a site that has old verions of Android ROMs, specifically "Android OS version 2.3.3 +"? I will install it on VMOS,
Or does anyone know of issues with BlueTooth, and how to overcome them?
Thanks to anyone that can help.
