Ok, got tired of waiting for the VZ upgrade and decided to go the DCD route.
I am using scrawnyb's upgrade guide and got the Hard SPL 2.40 Bootloader on my Verizon 6800 with no problem (I did get stuck on the bootloader screen but fixed that with the exit bootloader program). Now the questions that will hopefully allow me to finish:
1. According to Scrawnyb, you load the radio first. I downloaded 3.42.30 and extracted it and it extracts as a .nbh file extension, not an executable. So, how do you execute it? I tried clicking on it, changing the extension to a .exe, but it still won't load on the phone while in bootloader.
2. Do I need to load the DCD 3.2.5 first and then the radio?
Thanks in advance for the help.

The easiest thing to do is rename the .nbh TITAIMG.nbh and put it on the root of a sd micro card and enter the bootloader by doing a hard reset and allowing the update to run, then get the dcd kitchen or rom and follow the instructions on the download thread. There is a great wiki at the beginning of this site.
Good Luck and Enjoy like the rest of us!
Don't forget to thank all of the great people bringing us these great ROM's
There is also an executable version of the radio somewhere. That is what I used to flash to the latest radio version. I dont remember where I got it - it was either from this site or another site.
I then wanted to go to an earlier radio version and had to use the SD method. Overall, the SD method is pretty easy, once you get the card formatted correctly, which can be tricky.
Thanks for the tips. Now, I seem to have a new problem. Again, the only change I have made to the phone is install Hard SPL 2.40. I still have the stock rom, etc. Now though, when I hit the power button to turn off the display and go into sleep mode, it completely cuts the power and I have to do a soft reset. Anyone know whats up with that?
Jeez, maybe waiting for the damn VZ update wouldn't be so bad after all :-(
Thanks,
Les
Well, just learned something that might be of value to others. As above, sleep mode was not working when pushing the power button if the phone was on - I was having to do a soft reset to turn the phone back on. Again, keep in mind that I had not flashed a new radio or rom yet, only loaded Hard SPL 2.40. Figuring I had a bad button and anticipating taking it back to VZ, I downgraded the Bootloader and relocked the phone using Titan Relocker as per the Wiki. Now the bootloader is V-1.06 and guess what? After a hard reset and reprograming, etc. - the power button is acting as it should.
Well, thats enough for tonight, might try again tomorrow but going to have to find the radio in a .exe format first. Otherwise, I guess I will have to try the SD card route.
Thanks,
Les
I had the exact same problem, flashed the bootloader and then had to go to an auction, phone worked great until it either fell asleep or I put it to sleep, then it wouldn't come back until I reset.
This apparently is just a common issue for those who have started the upgrade but didn't complete it.
I also had the issue with formatting the memory card, my laptop has a SD card slot on it, but it uses some weird software driver that makes the drive letter disappear when the card isn't inserted, and this prevented it from formatting it correctly. I then tried a USB adapter that turns any SD card into a pen drive, it also wouldn't work, so I broke down and bought a cheap mem card reader from walmart for $20 and it works perfect. And has a SIM card reader on it to boot, tho I don't own a phone with a SIM card, but if I ever do, I'm all set

Had the same problem with my dell laptop built-in SD reader (I have a thread about this). Had to whip out my sandisk card reader which ended up working flawlessly.
Seems like the built-in ones just dont do it properly.

ok, before the flaming begins, I'm a noob and should have never even messed with this thing. ok, there, I said it.
alright, a month or two back, I upgraded my 6800 to the nochem 5054 rom. phone worked awesome, no problem.
I'm selling the device and need to flash back to the stock verizon rom. the only place I saw a link to the stock rom, the ftp was down so I couldn't download it.
so I found this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=350539&page=1 and figured it sounded like a good substitute. I downloaded the exe and it installed. finished flashing and said that it was successful. only one little problem (and I've searched for an hour and haven't found the answer...)
it won't boot. it just sits at the HTC TITAN boot graphic. not the tricolor loader. I hard reset but still no fix. once I reset the phone it displays the cresent graphic with HTC TITAN at the bottom, then the little red parameters come up and this is what they say:
M09
H3B60B3FA
P DCAAXAM-4350
R 3.35.04
D 2.17
so, the phone won't boot and I can't get it to connect with activesync to try and reload that rom.
damn. What now?
You have a non GPS rom with the 3.35.04 radio, which is incompatible.
awesome. now I know the problem, I just need a solution.
and do you have any idea where to find a STOCK vzw rom? I guess I need a radio too.
someone please <sniffle>
Go to www.ppcgeeks.com There is a Verizon stock rom on the FTP site....find by clicking QLinks tab at top of page. Go to Titan folder and inside you'll find 'Carrier ROMs'...there is a Verizon ROM inside. Uploaded in March of this year...I don't know what version...I'm on Alltel. Hope this helps.
will I be able to execute that without my pda having an activesync connection though?
yeah, I just finished downloading the stock rom (THANKS) but I can't get the pda to sync up. I guess because it won't boot, it won't connect to my PC either.

how do I find out? I originally got buildos from ppcgeeks and I chose the 5054 option. I used some unlocker first, then I used buildOS and flashed the device.
is the bootloader in any of those parameters I put above?
Hold power, camera, and soft reset using the stylus while holding them, should put the phone into the bootloader.
It should say at the top:
TITA100 MFG
SPL xxxxxxxxxx
CPLD-9
Tell me what it says where the xxxxxxxx is.
SPL-2.40.Olipro
THANK YOU SO MUCH
I have downloaded the titan relocker and also the correct stock rom from the titan wiki area, the 78MB on. I believe that has the radio too.
geez, I should have never messed with this thing, I don't even know what a radio is....
Ok this is what you need to do. Since you have the 3.35.04 radio and 2.40 bootloader you need to flash a 3.x.x GPS rom in order to be able to boot again. Unfortunately because you can't boot and establish a usb connection, the only way out of this mess is to flash with a microsd card that's less than 2gb. If you don't have one, get one. You'll also need a card reader as well so you can format it correctly.
1. Download this file It's a clean verizon 3.x.x rom and will allow you to boot again.
2. Format your microsd card using a card reader in windows as FAT32 using a cluster size less than 4 Kb.
3. Place the file you downloaded on the card.
4. Insert the card in your phone and enter the bootloader again.
5. The bootloader will say "Checking" then will prompt you to press the power button to begin the update. Press the power button.
6. When it's done, soft reset with the stylus and the phone SHOULD boot into windows mobile allowing you to get an activesync connection.
Now all you have to do is relock your phone using titan_relocker (follow instructions carefully and exact), then flash the stock rom and radio. Make SURE you relock though, and make sure you use the correct rom and radio this time.
ooops .... GC has you all lined up .....

well, rather than buy a card and reader, I thought I could shortcut by borrowing a card from someone, then I used my wife's 6800 to format it with pocket mechanic. I chose fat32 and 2K cluster size.
copied the file from my laptop to my wife's 6800 which had the card in it. popped it in my phone and went into the loader but it just says serial.
Is it necessary to have a card reader and format through windows? if it is, I will go buy one and do it that way. my buddies card is only 64MB but that's ok because the file is only 45MB.
let me know about the reader so I know if I need to run to the best buy real quick. wow, making progress.
Yeah you can't format the card using the phone. You also can't copy the file to it using the phone. Go buy a cheap one. You don't even need a card reader, you could use one of those sd to usb dongles and it would work fine. (If you choose to go this route, just make sure the card you buy comes with an sd to microsd adapter). Just can't do it using the phone.
ok, I got a 1gb card with the standard SD adapter.
I went to format it in my laptop and I used fat32 but it didn't give me a cluster option. it just said default allocation size and It was not able to be changed.
anyhow, formatted and copied the .nbh file over and turned on but it just says serial and does not look like it was reading from the card...

Go to the XDA-Wiki at the top of the page and click on it. You'll see all the HTC models...scroll down until you see the Titan model...click on it. Scroll about halfway down the page to the section titiled 'Tutorials'...you'll see a topic called 'Getting started with your Titan'...click on it. This will have a section on flashing via SD card. It explains how to format the card in DOS. For some reason many times when formatting thru windows stuff doesn't work...I have no idea why...but when you format thru DOS its almost failsafe. Good luck....make sure its in the root directory of your card and labeled TITAIMG.nbh

Flashing a phone with a micro SD card
1. Format a microSD card into FAT32 with an allocation unit/cluster size of 1024
(the default size for a 1 GB would not work, also if it takes only a few seconds to format
try formating with some other slot/device. A 1 GB took over a minute to format correctly)
To format your Card - Open a DOS box and type/copy and paste this: ( format ?: /FS:FAT32 /A:1024 )
Replace the ? with whatever your SD cards drive letter is... ie: f, h, I.... Mine is G....
2. Copy the ROM to flash (xxxxxxxx.nbh) to the root of the microSD
3. Rename the ROM xxxxxxx.nbh to TITAIMG.nbh
4. Insert your card.
5. Force into the boot loader with POWER-CAMERA-RESET
6. Follow the instructions and you'll quickly flash your Titan...
That was in the Titan Wiki - You can use a DOS box to format, do not use Windowz Explorer....
I forget where i saw it posted, but do people feel it makes any difference whether you flash a ROM with the sd card in, or the sim?
i tried flashing with all combinations and they all worked. But just to be on the safe side I try to remember to take both out when flashing.
my first few flashes i removed SIM and SD card, then i got lazy and just started flashing with them in. I've probably flashed 15 or more times with them both in and haven't run into any problems.

Same here lol
never took out either. nothing has ever happened.
I used to take them both out for every single flash.
Now I just take the SD card out so TomTom wont start installing if I left files on there by accident.
(also while I flash I clear out all the crap and pile of CABs I build up on there through a card reader)
SIM card stays in to autodetect if the rom wasnt optimized for ATT.

try using the forum's wonderful search function
Maybe its due to other models of phones that might format sd cards, memory cards or other storage mediums when being flashed. But seems here its all good for the Raph for now
I recall reading somewhere here that the only reason for removing sim was to prevent incoming calls from interrupting the flash process. Only reason to remove sd card was to prevent unwanted software installation.
No i BELEIVE DUE TO THE EARLY STAGES OF SPL MODIFICATION IN PREVIOUS PHONES SUCH AS THE HERMES, IN MY CASE THE 8125. tHIS WAS THE PROCEDURE WHEN FLASHING BACK IN THE DAY. This has not been the case for quite some time. sorry for caps but dont feel like editing on my phone.

With the UC (User Customization) support in ROMs now you need the SD card as it contains the customizations. I've flashed my phone more times than I can count and I have never removed either the sim or sd card.
I have NEVER removed sd or SIM whilst flashing, you literally CANNOT get interrupted during a flash process as your device is in SPL mode.
Leave them in, dont worry it will be fine.
There's at least one possible issue that you could run into flashing with an SD card in the slot, you might be booted up into winmo, start the flashing process, but have RAPHIMG.NBH or RAPHDIAG.NBH on your sd card, and the bootloader will stick there giving you a prompt to flash/boot that or continue..
that's stopped me in my tracks once or twice because I started flashing and didn't notice the prompt, so it didn't go anywhere and i had to start over.. but just a minor inconvenience
Basically, here is m problem:
I have a hermes. The GSM wasent working. I though maybe an upgrade to WM6 could correct some software bugs.... Wrong!
I realized it actually briecked (type 1a). Trying to follow the instruction to fix it, but i am not able to send ANYTHING to it!. Either by SD or Custom RUU. Finally i am standing with a Hermes, WM6, and it will NOT accept any flashes i try to put in it!
Its on HardSPL (2.10) IPL 1.04
Thanks in advance
Stephen_D
EDIT: Forgot to say what happens when i try to flash it!
With an SD card all I get it "Loading..." then returns to the bars
By USB it starts updating And freezes on 0%, then the software pops an error after 5 mins like what it can communicate.
Thanks
sort of the same problem...
I've been trying to flash a ROM for the past hour now and my phone doesn't get flashed.
(I already have HardSPL and I'm using a 1gig micro sd)
What I did:
Format the sd card to FAT32
copied the RUU_signed.nbh to sd card then renamed it to HERMING.nbh
I place the sd card on the phone that's connected to a charger
I press Power Button and Ok button on the left side then push reset
What happens:
It goes to bootloader mode (tricolor screen)
then it says loading...(2 seconds)
then goes back to the tricolor screen again
I waited for the prompt that I need to push the Power Button but it never came, so I soft reset it and tried it again but the same all over again.
The ROM I was trying to flash is the AT&T stripped ROM, I read it here that it's better to flash a stock ROM first before flashing/upgrading to a cooked ROM.
By the way I just found out that my X01HT isn't a Softbank, it's a DoCoMo.
Is my phone upgradeable?
Can someone please tell me what I missed?....I really want to upgrade my phone without bricking it.
Thanks!

What format is your SD card? Fat or Fat32?
Its gota be Fat32 to flash from it.
it's all good now....
I've given up flashing my phone from the sd card so I decided to flash it with my laptop instead. Luckily it worked without a hitch.
I'm so loving my phone now, been playing with it for 2 hours and the usual hang ups I got before are non-existing anymore.
To use the sd card method you need to check that the .nbh file is hermimg.nbh, NOT herming.nbh as you had written on your previous post.
The holy trinity of sd card flashing, Formated FAT32, Named hermimg.nbh & sd card is 2Gb or less...
Cheers...
I see.....
ok hermimg.nbh
will try this again, maybe next week since I'm enjoying my new ROM right now.
Thanks ultramag69!
Hello,
FCWs 6.5 Home edition 8325,2gig
Long story involving a 5 year old.
Basically right now I can only fire up in sort of a limp mode; "low on memory" or no "permission". Probably due to scores of "FILE000x.chk" files on the device after using Pocket Mechanic Pro on microSD card.
1) It'll only reliably boots with a battery out/in technique.
2) Its "connected" to desk-top PC but as a "guest" and isn't "synced"
3) I can browse it through ActiveSync on the PC, but can't add, move or delete files due to "low memory" or "permissions" (same on the 8525)
4) A few programs won't run and are not recognized as "valid P-PC" apps, including the front end "home2"
5) Can't flash anything as SSPL ROM flasher gives "ERROR [224]: device not responding".
Started with a corrupt 2 gig microSD, couldn't write to it, ran Pocket Mechanic Pro. that Problem solved, this prob created.
Read all Wikis, searched error 224, reflashed about 15 times, know the ropes.
Any Ideas are greatly appreciated!
Regards, PK
Have you tried flashing the rom from the memory card, its the only thing that i can suggest i don't know much about broken hermes.
Hope this helps and that you find a fix
Thanks for the reply Scott,
That was my next line of attack but I'm not clear yet on exactly how to do it (I'll find out).
My big problem is I can't add (or remove or even move) any files on the device either from File explorer on the phone or through. ActiveSync on the pc (I can look at them though...). I also dont have a card reader writer.
I think a lot of problems would go away if I could delete all the 200+ *.CHK files generated by Pocket mechanic pro. I think that where all my memory went.
I just found a way using delete feature in "RAR" ...6 down 200 odd to go. Antone know how to select multiple files?
Regards, PK
Regards, PK
Now its in solitary
I managed to delete 219, *.chk files from the rom hoping to free up memory. I'ts still isolated, I cant add any files to it (like a ROM or utility) through activeSync. The warning is it "can't find the file or path." of the file. To flash a rom from I still get "error 224," don't recognize the device.
Tried to load the SD card with a rom through my camera, no luck, the camera says "cannot flash".
The OS still works in a limp mode, no phone, half the programs inaccessible and home2 no longer works.
Fun.
PK
Have you tried connecting the card to the computer and reformatting it from there you might then be able to flash another rom
Thanks,
I don't have a card reader. The only thing I do have is a printer that accepts multiple card types and a camera that takes this card. So far I can't right to either.
Ya, theres a thread that tells how to flash from a card. Right now though its just of limits.
Thanks, PK
Edit: just got card reader.
Have SD Card with rom can't boot off it and install.
Hello all interested,
1) So I bought a card reader and as per 2 wikis, reformated my SD card fat32 and a single partition of about 190megs.
2) I copied just the "RUU_signed.nbh" file from my stripped ATT rom RAR file. (The wikis were a little unclear as they were apparently using different roms)
3) I installed this ROM directly from my PC to SD card through the card reader. And put the little SD card into the phone. ( I can only read not write anything though activesync as wiki implies. Problem?)*
4) As per wikis , hard booted with pen while holding power and OK keys.
5) All I get is the 4 striped screen with a IPL and SPL verbiage. NOT the "loading from SD card" as described in the wikis.
Help... anybody, PK
* Does loading the ROM through Active syn? I know it changes format of some files

Did you rename the file RUU_singned.nbh to HERMIMG.NBH?

Vijovame,
You are definitely the man.
I flashed the plain Jane stripped ATT ROM but EVERYTHING WORKS! It syncs, the phone works, camera, etc, etc...Now I'm off to flash something interesting.
Thanks for making me re-read the .nbh name. (I've been trying to fix this about half the time I've owned it...my first smarphone)
All the best!!
PK
its good to hear that youve sorted it, theres a few roms out there at the moment so you may have to look around a bit and flash quite a few of them, the safest way is the card method but it is up to you.
Have fun with your hermes
Scotty,
Ironically I had already blindly flashed just about everything out there without a hitch. I finally settled on one. That's when all 'ell broke loose. Now I've got the stripped ATT on my flash drive ready to install anytime if I have to.
Thanks, PK
The SD card slot on my phone seems to be broken. I've tried multiple SD cards and none of them seem to get read, so I've concluded that it must be the phone.
Im trying to unroot it so I can send it to verizon for a replacement. I was kind of depending on this method to do it:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=792026
but obviously I need the use of the SD card. So I'm kind of in a pickle.
Is there any other way to do it? Something that doesnt need an SD card?
The "Official" 2.1 RUU Utility (= Leak-V3) requires no SD Card
MultiUpload.com - RUU_Desire_C_Verizon_WWE_2.36.605.1_release_signed _with_driver.exe
It runs on your Windows PC.
Charge your phone well (say, > 80%)
Turn it off
Plug it in to your PC (still off)
Start the Eris up in fastboot mode (Send+End)
Run the above (HTC) utility - follow the instructions on the screen.
Thanks, man. Just ran it. Worked perfectly.
Just got to install a few apps before I take it in so that it doesn't look too barebones >_>
This is really strange. I just put in the SD card, to see if it was still broken and it magically worked again @[email protected]
I tried with the same SD cards that I used when I was rooted and they all worked as well.
I guess this means I dont have to turn it in, but this is still very strange.

Bummer or Not Bummer? I'm not sure. Nothing like an intermittent problem to give you plenty of confidence.
Well, if you don't take it in, at least you will get more practice at rooting.
If you want to be one of cool kids on the block, you can update the unrooted RUU (= Leak-V3) software to the July 2010 OTA using the honest-to-goodness factory codes. You might want to do this anyway, because it will install the July 2010 HTC radio, if not for the "fun" involved.
Go visit this thread:
Consolidated HTC RUU, Leak, and OTA Downloads
and grab the "4th OTA" which converts 2.36.605.1 -> 2.37.605.4; the file name is
OTA_Desire_C_Verizon_WWE_2.37.605.4_2.36.605.1_release.zip
You rename it to "update.zip", and put it on your SD card in the root folder, then:
- verify the file length and MD5 checksum (of the copy of the file on the SD card)
- charge your phone fully
- power your phone off and boot into recovery mode
(either Vol-Up+End, or HBOOT(Vol-Down+End) -> recovery)
- you will get that screen with the triangle and exclamation point; when that is showing, press Vol-Up+End again, and you will see the stock recovery menu.
- Choose the one that says something about SD:update.zip (or similar)
- Let it run through until it reboots (I can't recall, it may reboot twice).
Then, when you root this, you can take a Nandroid backup - then you will have a Nandroid backup of the July 2010 "Factory" configuration. The "cool kid on the block" part is that almost nobody has ever done this - most Eris rooters were already rooted when July 15-17 rolled around, or if they were stuck not rooted on Leak-V3, they got the OTA automatically. Very few people have actually ever used the factory recovery menu on the Eris. (I have done it just to look at it.)
Cheers

Did you happen to partition your SD cards for apps2sd on a rooted 2.1 ROM and then try installing a Froyo ROM? If so, that is an explanation - (most) of the Froyo ROMs will not mount an SD card with more than one partition on it.
If this is the case, and you still want a Froyo ROM, you can backup the contents of your SD card, use Amon's Recovery to partition it again (setting the size of the ext2 and swap partitions to 0 bytes), and you should be ok. If the fact that your SD cards were partitioned was the issue...
Good catch doogald - I just assumed that this wasn't the case because the OP mentioned more than one SD card.
No, I was using a Froyo rom.
Also, I forgot to point out that it wasn't the first time it's happened. The Last time, however, I was able to get it to work again after a reboot. When I did get it to work, half the stuff on the card was missing. Luckily I had it all backed up, so it wasn't too much of a hassle.
This time, I couldn't get it to recognize the card at all, even after several reboots and trying several different cards.
But like I said, it works now. Ill probably re-root it again this weekend when I have the time. Hopefully, things work out differently this time.
