Hello everyone i'm a noob.
i'm tryin to get information about installing a clean version of windows mobile 6.
This PDA was actually traded, so i'm not really familiar when it comes to upgrading or doing a clean installation.
Basically i'm trying to install with the leastt amount of programs included so I can have free space to run my htc faster.
Can someone give me any sort of advice how to flash this phone with a new rom that takes up less space.

OK, 1st thing to do is Hard SPL yourr Phone. Get Hard SPL V7 from here - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
THIS IS A MUST.... It helps if the flash goes bad (but does void any warranty)...
2nd thing to do is go to the wm06 forum and read about the cooked OSes available. These are ALWAYS faster than the carrier roms as the carriers always load up their roms with their own 3rd party apps... If you do want to use a carrier rom but don't want all the bloat they load it with reset before the "customisation" begins after setting up the phone after flashing.
I also prefer to use the sd card method when flashing as I believe its safer than using the pc BUT you need to Hard SPL 1st. To use sd card method to Hard SPL go to post 1160 on page 116 of the above link. Sd card method for oses is slightly different so read that post carefully.
To flash os with sd card (make sure you have >50% battery) -
1). format sd card fat32 and copy the .nbh file of the rom you want to it. Rename to "hermimg.nbh".
2). Put Hermes into bootloader (tri-colour screen) - hold Power, OK button above flywheel and reset with stylus until bootloader comes up.
3). If you formated the sd car fat32 and renamed the flash file properly the Hermes will recognise it and say to hit power button to start flash - hit power button. Wait until it says flash complete then reset with stylus.
Easy as 1, 2 and 3.

cuz its 24 megabytes and i cant fit it inside the device memory.

oh shoot...i didn't format the SD Card instead i just checked if it was fat 32 and it wass
so i ran the exe file SSPL and now its stuck at the tricolour screen so i might just soft reset it

I think I had similar problems when I started...

Use the sd card method.
1. Backup sd card - format FAT32. Copy .nbh file onto it (from rom you want). Rename .nbh file to hermimg.nbh . SPELLING IS IMPORTANT...
2. Insert sd card into Hermes and reset into bootloader - hold power, ok button above flywheel and reset with stylus. Hold ALL buttons in until you get to bootloader.
3. As long as you have Hard SPL V7 installed it should work, follow the prompts.
The sd card MUST be 2Gb or less, it must be formatted FAT32 (default is FAT) and you MUST have both a charged battery and Hard SPL V7 installed.

i downloaded the a WM6 software and the ruuwrapper and the Hard Spl v7. I flashed it but nothing happened . Need help

If you have Hard SPL installed, you can use the sd card method to flash your rom. This is a must if the radio rom is part of the rom you are flashing - generally only in stock roms.

but i can't flash anything
i read carefully from wiki but it doesn't give me a solution...
i always get 0% stuck and connection error message
maybe last solution Flashing via JTAG...
but i have a problem i don't understand what are JTAG for???

Go to bootloader on Hermes. Connect Hermes to pc.

Run RUU_Wrapper.exe of Hard SPL V7.
To try to recover the Radio ROM.
Find SHIPPED Stock ROM. Download.
Use sd card method to flash to Hermes.
SD Card Method.

with modified RUU but it still 1% progress bar show
what wrong with my device??

i've follow that instruction flash via SD but on my hermes screen progress bar still stuck...it is normal??all ok but at radio and os still nothing...
i try to put HER_DopodAsia_AUS_1.30.707.4_1.20.31.10_WWE_Ship at formatted Fat32 sd card and i renamed it .nbh to herming.nbh
please help me for a solution

Okay, so today I purchased a Hermes. While it'll take a while for it to arrive, I want to be prepared. And I certainly don't want a brick. So I'm pretty paranoid. That's why I'm asking, is the following procedure correct? (It's basically what I found here)
Download HardSPL
Download the ROM
If I have HardSPL (which I doubt), skip step 4
Install HardSPL
Sync and connect (with USB-cable) using WMDC*
When sync is finished, run RUUWrapper.exe
Follow the instructions (accept, next, accept, next, update)
Flash
Sync and connect (with USB-cable) using WMDC*
When sync is finished, run RUUWrapper.exe, the one shipped with the ROM
Click AutoDetect
Follow the instructions (accept, next, accept, next, update)
"Enjoy my updated device"
Download and install the .cab-files provided by Torben here. (Or should I change the registry?)
*I've read that there are some problems when syncing with Vista (which I, against my will, is stuck with), is this still present when using WMDC instead of ActiveSync?

Mate, if you have a problem with using the PC, use the SD card method (must have Hard SPL V& installed - SPL - 2.10oli). To install Hard SPL using the Sd card method, go to page 116, post 1160 on the Hard SPL thread. It has links and the method to install hard SPL using the sd card method.
For ROM's use this method -
1. Format sd card (2Gb or less) FAT32.
2. Copy .nbh file of the rom you want onto sd card and rename to hermimg.nbh .Insert back into Hermes.
3 Put Hermes into bootloader - hold power, OK button above flywheel and reset with stylus, hold ALL buttons in until you get to tri-colour screen. If you have done everything right, follow the prompts.

Okay, I read the post. Very good! Just to make sure, I should not copy the RUUWrapper bundled with HardSPL? I add SSPL_HERM.exe and HERMIMG.nbh to the root of the newly formatted (FAT32) SD-card (not SDHC), run SPPL_HERM.exe from the phone, press the powerbutton when instructed to (to flash) and then reset the device somehow, once it's done. After that, follow the instructions here (phone connected to charger since it takes 30 min) and then all be fine?

I just thought I'd reply to this message because I'm about to flash a custom Rom to a new iMate Jasjam and that my user id is errily similar to yours
I've used a 2GB Micro SD card to flash my last ROM upgrade (thanks to CRCinAU) and it worked a treat.

On my device (MDA Vario II) it stops at the bootloader screen (tricolor), and nothing happens.... but my device is not bricked, if i call softreset everything works, but i need hard spl to use an unlocker .... (which is also not working right now)
Did you run sspl.exe from the phone first?
You need to run this as it puts Soft SPL on so you can flash Hard SPL BUT you need to run it from the Hermes and not the sd card.
To get out of bootloader just reset with stylus.]
Also check that the sd card (2Gb or less) is formatted FAT32, comes formatted FAT by default.
Make sure you have renamed .nbh file to hermimg.nbh. Spelling matters...

jep done as instructed, still the same problem
What happens if it's not formatted FAT by default? If I can format a card as FAT32 but wasn't FAT originally, would it possibly brick it? (Not doing it (hopefully), just curious)
okay got it, cards broken, i think, used a new one
Doesn't matter if it was originally FAT32, most sd cards come formatted FAT by default, it has to be FAT32 or the flash WON"T work...
