The way my XV-6800 is set up is that I'm using the new stock Verizon Rom on my device (upgraded from 6.0) and I get my e-mail pushed through Verizon's Wireless Sync service everytime I get an e-mail on this account (personal Yahoo account).
I've been having issues with this device and I'm swapping this unit tomorrow so I'll be back to 6.0 again.
I'm thinking of running DCD's Rom instead but need to know if I can get my e-mail through Verizon's Wireless Sync like I do now. Is this something that is added when the Verizon's customizations run or is it provisioned for in DCD's Rom?
Thanks!
Are you using activesync to sync your yahoo account (IMAP or POP) or are you using that Verizon VZW sync program on your phone? If you are using the VZW program you will either need to find it on the CD and reinstall it to the phone after you upgrade to DCD. If you are using activesync then there will be no change to what you do now.
all you need is the wireless sync software. Theres some website you go to on your phone to get the wireless sync software but i forget the site. it's an offical vzw site though
VZW wireless sync sw can be found here:
http://ota.wsync.com/
I suggest using the UC script to install with any other customizations. That's the way I do it anyway. GL.
Why would you use VZW's software to sync your yahoo account? just put it in outlook mobile and connect that way
you can use it to save your contacts and everything else and access them off wirelesssync.com i used to use it before i switched to their 29.99 plan and started using my works exchange server
I need to do this
I need to set this up again, my company has their exchange server set-up to push down a requirement of a strong password on a non corporate PPC that is set to lock down the phone after 15 minutes. The pass has to be at least 7 characters and contain one each of upper case, lower case, number and special character ([email protected]$%). It's a pain, I need to re-flash anyway to get my com manager back. No time like the present. Think I might try a PPCGeeks kitchen, just to see if it's any good.
Activesync caches the password if you tell it to, so why would you care if its 7 character alphanumeric with special chars?

I am really puzzled by this one. I have been using the Cooked Official Hermes Mobile 6 for Cingular / ATT rom for a few months now with no problem. Just last night I lost my Outlook Inbox in my list of mailboxes. After looking a little deeper it appears that I cannot use direct push anymore. I have tried clearing memory and reloading the ROM onto the phone.
The very first time the phone comes up after running the AT&T cab packages, I set up the server sync options. While it is doing its initial sync I can quickly go into the Schedule setting ans it is set for As Items Arrive.
Here is the problem...
As soon as it finishes the first sync, grabs contacts, mail, calendar, and tasks. I go back into Schedule and it is defaulted to Manual, and the option for as items arrive is no longer there. If I go into comm manager there is an x through the Direct Push icon, I can enable it, close comm manager, attempt to sync again, go back to comm manager and it has an x through it again????
This one is killing me here. I know the server is set right as we have 10 total phones at my company that are all setup for direct push, they are working correctly, just not mine. Granted my phone is the only one running mobile 6. But it has worked flawlessly for months, even before the "official" rom. I have tried Schaps latest version but the problem seemed the same. Is there a problem with the phone outside of the rom image?? Something that needs to be reset? Please, I need some help with this! I don't want to switch back to my 3125, noooooooooooooooooo!!
Thanks in advance for your help!
Edit...
Still don't have it working but... Couple of things, Calendar, Tasks, and Contacts are working just fine. Subfolders in my Exchange mailbox are working ok. But i am still unable to select "As Items Arrive" or keep the Microsoft Direct Push button in Comm manager enabled. Again any thoughts would be very helpful. I am a network admin with direct control over my exchange server. Tonight I am going to fire up my 3125 and pop in my sim and I would imagine that things should work just fine. The part that boggles me is even with a fresh rom flash or with multiple roms the problem still exists?? I don't know if any of you out there are Exchange Admins too, but could it be something on the server side of things? Thanks again everyone for taking the time to read this!
direct push
a good test to eliminate phone vs. exchange would be in your web browser goto IP address of server + forward slash OMA (Outlook Mobile Access) i.e. www.domain.com/oma
this should open a login prompt, put your active directory credentials in there and click ok. If this works then your server is good...
An excellent troubleshooting step! Unfortunately I have tried that, and it did work correctly! I have reverted to my 3125 for the moment. All works well with that phone. 8-( Sooo, my exchange account is fine, my sim / AT&T account is working properly. I guess somehow the phone was corrupted?? Is it maybe worth reverting back to WM 5.0, and then bringing it back up to 6.0? Thanks for taking the time to help!!
Got a strange problem with my new T-Mobile G2 (HTC Hero) ...
If I try setting up & syncing my Exchange email I get all sorts of error messages ranging from username/password incorrect (when I know it isn't) to a long winded one "Your Microsoft Exchange Server account does not have permission to synchronize with your current settings. Contact your Exchange Server administrator" ...
Previously the same Exchange server (2010) was used to sync email via the MS Exchange application on an iPhone and also a XDA.
I'm guessing there is a bug or anomaly with the Exchange application on the T-Mobile rom (it incidentally came shipped with the latest 2.73.110.26 October rom) as I downloaded and successfully set-up/synced my email using the TouchDown v4.0.0008 application - and also using another Exchange application (Contacts Sync) from Wryke.
I've spoken to the Server admin, who has done what he can, but he's thinking (as I am) that there is a problem with the built in app ...
Oh, and am I right in thinking that because it has come shipped with the latest (2.73.110.26) rom then I can't flash a custom rom at this time ?
Anyone have any suggestions ?
Cheers

I had the same issue yesterday when I forgot to check the box "This server requires an encrypted SSL connection". I've never had to check this box before when we ran Exchange 2007 but we moved to Exchanged 2010 yesterday just before a reset the exchange account on my Hero.
Give it a try, it may work

exchange 2010 + htc hero - which settings ?
I was wondering, which settings do you have on your exchange 2010 server ?
On exchange 2003 it worked flawlessly (almost), but on exchange 2010 I keep getting the "failed to create account..".
Initial login seems to work fine, but after selecting what to sync it fails.
I dont have a paid SSL certificate, only a self-signed one, but I dont imagine that causing too many problems (or am I wrong?).
Any help appreciated
Hello,
Does anyone know what to change to resolve this? I still have this issue whether or not the SSL box is checked.
If you are using an internal certificate, try copying certificate to SD and installing, also if you are still running hero 1.5 you must make sure exchange 2010 servers mobile settings are configured to allow "unsupported devices" you may also have to disable password policy just for your phone on the server
I know this is a really old thread, but you might try checking to see if your password is about to expire. In my case I got this error and it was because my password was about to expire (the Windows AD notifies you when you log into a Windows PC on the AD domain). Once I changed my password everything started working again. I guess this is technically a bug with Android because Android should be able to tell you that instead of saying that you're unauthorized.
I first updated my Streak to the official 2.2 Dell update via QDL and then the OTA to get it to the 318 build. With that I was able to connect to my company's exchange server.
Then my internal SD died.
I replaced the internal SD with a 6Gb class 4 SD and my phone is up and running again. But it won't connect to the Exchange Server. I kept getting "Cannot Connect to Exchange Server"
Over the course of trying to make it work, I've allowed full access to read/write the internal SD card, upgraded my OEM version from 305 to 318 to match the Baseband version and now I'm DJ_Steves OEM version. All in an effort to get the Exchange to work again.
A google search reveals a lot of Android phones with this same problem, and some of the other phone platforms have an update.zip to fix the Exchange issue. They don't work for the Streak.
I'm aware of third party apps such as Touchdown and others but they don't appear to push the mail to the phone, they query the server every so often. I need the mail pushed to the phone.
I think the problem is that the updated kernel or OEM or baseband (not really sure where those options reside) isn't allowing my work exchange server to take over certain security features of the phone. For example, before it would let me sync before I had to agree to let the Exchange server take over some security features and then set a password. It isn't even prompting me to do that this time, and I think that is where the failure is.
I've searched on here and other boards for a fix and not found one that will work for the Streak. I also can't seem to find a setting that will allow this to happen. Is there a way to either enable the control of some phone security measures or to trick the exchange server into thinking that it is doing so? Without doing this I think I will always fail to connect to my work's email exchange server. Because of my bigger internal card I'm somewhat limited on just helter-skelter flashing other ROMs to the phone to see if it will work.
Sorry the post is so long.
settings, manage applications, email, clear data
I have two "emails" listed and one "email policy" All selections are greyed out on all of them. Can't uninstall, clear cache, nothing.
Edit: shutdown/reboot gives me access to clear data on one of the emails. Did that, reinput settings, still couldn't connect. Cleared data again, shutdown/reboot, reinput settings. I still can't connect to the exchange server. Same exact behavior
has your mailserver been recently upgraded to exchange 2010?
I'm not sure. I know if I access email from a non-company computer through either firefox or IE, it still says Exchange 2003
Touchdown pushes mail immediately... I get exchange mail on my dell streak 2.2 (318) before my work computer gets it. Use this link to download touchdown with on demand sync. (for registered users only)

Maybe I had the wrong version of touchdown then. I uninstalled it, since it was only checking every 15 minutes and put on moxier mail which does have push capability, and I like the interface better than touchdown.
What specific touchdown is that? I only had the free one, because I didn't want to pay for it until I could prove it did what I wanted.
I'd really just rather fix the native exchange server. Seems really silly that we have to use a 3rd party app for something that this 2.2 was supposed to (and, in my case did) natively.
Hello guys. I got my sgs2 with stock firmware 2.3.3 two weeks ago. I was able to set up every account flawlessly except for my exchange office email. It keeps displaying 'set up could not finish/ Cannot connect to server'. All my entries are correct and my network too is good. I tried connecting on my former device, samsung vibrant, and worked flawlessly. So also on some other devices i tried. I have read in this forum several solutions and inhave tried them all. Connect through wifi , using the exchange account under 'accounts and sync ', using 'edge' only type of connevtivity , i have also updated to stock 2.3.5 and still having the same problem. I dont want to change the email apk as some did and will prefer using the stock email app (not third party app)
Please, does anyone having any idea on getting my exchange account to connect on the sgs2? I need to sync my exchange contacts, mails and calender. Will appreciate every response to solving this problem.
Thanks guys

Please guys, I am still waiting for anyone that has a clue about solving this problem. It will be highly appreciated.

I know you don't want to use a third party app but your problem may be on the administrator side of your account. Try the demo of Touchdown Exchange and see if that works. If it does, then you know it's a samsung problem.
Btw, there is a limit to the number of phones you can add to your email account with exchange. Each time you put on a new rom, it treats this as a new phone. Through owa or outlook, check how many mobile devices are registered to your account.
Setup for Office 365 Exchange Account (Small Business)
I just got my SGS2 today and tried setting up my Office365 Exchange account.
I ran into issues, getting a similar error message to OP.
The solution was:
1st Screen
- on the 1st setup screen, fill in username and password
- choose "Manual Setup"
- when asked what type of account, choose "Exchange Activesync"
2nd Screen
- there are 3 fields: a) Domain:user name b) Password c) Exchange Server
a) format is domain\user name (i.e. whatever.com\[email protected])
b) already filled in
c) normally, server address is m.outlook.com when using Office365. Samsung dares to be different - you need to find your actual server address, not the generic one.
Go to this address to get details for filling in these fields: http://help.outlook.com/en-us/140/dd936215.aspx
Once I accepted the various activation messages, an error message flashed very briefly, but then sync was established and I synced very quickly.
I think the message was: "Cannot open connection with server due to security error", but I can't be sure
I ignored that error message, as sync seems to be working perfectly, with "push" activesync.
This was discussed on the Office 365 forum. Here's the link: http://community.office365.com/en-us/f/160/t/5282.aspx
I realise you may not have Office 365 Exchange, but I'm posting this in case it may be of help in some way.
P.S. Must say, I'm very chuffed that Samsung's native Exchange client supports Tasks and SMS sync, in addition to the standard options. SMS Sync seems faster than it was on HD2...
thanks guys. I really appreciate all the responses. I have tried out the solutions provided . I installed the touchdown app and it worked straight away. my mails, calendar, contacts & talks sync completely.
I also read through the links provided above and really never made any error initially on setting up my exchange account. Though I still followed through the steps/settings for exchange setup and still encountered the problem. one thing I like to clarify is that I am not sure if the server in my office is 'office 365' has being explained on that site. I think we use the exchange 2007. if the exchange server type is the issue, will using one if the email apk posted under themes and apps section work for me if installed? Because, I really will prefer using a stock email app. or is there any other way I can get the stock email app to work without giving me those error messages?
Also, will installing one of the custom roms get it working?
Hey Guys, I was wondering if there were any ideas as to why I am having trouble with my Corporate Sync (Exchange account) on my Droid x2 running Eclipse 2.1.
Everytime I put in my credentials to set up the account, it tells me it cannot connect. I have tried many times and I know I am putting in the right info and I have also had success on other ROMs so I'm wondering if this one is different.
I love this ROM which is why I wanna stick with it! But I need my company email on it.
Thanks!

Does your company use Microsoft Outlook? Outlook and some other email programs have protocols that can be set to redirect emails from that account to another. I had the same problem when trying to link my school email to my phone. Now I have my school emails forwarded to my Gmail account so I can keep up with them.

My company uses outlook and corporate email always worked for me on eclipse. Choose exchange and then you have to have your info from your work. For example my company you had to have the s after https:/ ask your It person and make sure path is correct. I used it on every version of eclipse.
I def had issues way back on Stock where my corporate sync stopped. I eventually purchased enhanced email a while back and that worked where stock didn't.
To prove you have the details correct, you can snag a free email client from the Market and make sure it's okay. This'll prove it's not eclipse per say, but the program it's using.
I know this is a old thread but I ran into the same problem on my x2 running the stock os. The link provided below fixed the issue. You have to create a gmail corporate sync account first and then change the settings to your corporate account settings and then it works
Hope it helps someone else.
