Trouble Installing Carrier cabs. - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Hello everyone, ill start off by saying im a little new, however im able to follow directions well. I flashed my ppc 6800 to cricket today with a ppckitchen rom. When i put the carrier cab files over to the device and install, for whatever reason it keeps saying cant install to that location select another. both my phone and mem card have ample storage. I downloaded the carrier cab from this website, so im sure the file is ok. can anyone help please. thanks.
***UPDATE***
I tried installing other carriers like alltell just to test them out, and all of them install except the cricket cab file...there must be some weird issue.

Perhaps ask at ppckitchen or ppcgeeks about this... I think most people here are using DCD roms etc. Some roms don't need a carrier cab either.

did you pick a carrier in the kitchen that you cooked? If so then you don't need the carrier cab here as that is only for DCD ROMs and Kitchens.

TyTN Cing. ExtRom question

Does anyone know if migrating the Cingular Ext.Rom from 8125 to TyTN will work?
Most probably it will, but you will lose cingular customizations.
If you don't like it, you can always go back to cingular.
Pof,
Thanks for your answer but you might have misunderstood, I wasnt looking at leaving Cingular, just transfering my existing Cingular extRom to my new TyTN so I can keep use their customization on my new phone.
Thanks
AJH
Oh sorry, I didn't read abut the 8125... which HTC device is it? if it's a wm5 you can just get the cingular settings CAB from the extROM and run it on your TyTN.
I got my vodafone spain settings from a cab in Universal ExtROM without problems
im also trying to do this. could someone point me to where the cingular ext rom is and how i would go about applying it to the tytn>
Thanks pof,
Its an HTC TyTN. I just got it in the mail at home and want to be sure I understand as much as possible when I move my programs and customizations over from my 8125.
Blues,
I havent done it either, I was going to use the instructions from the wiki (hytn and 8125) on removing and installing the ext.rom.
I will let you know, probably tomorrow since I have to charge the device first.
Thanks
AJH
ok, cingular 8125 == htc Wizard. Right?
You can extract the cingular customizations from the ExtRom:
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Extended_Roms/cingular-ExtROM.zip
ftp://xda:[email protected]/Wizard/Extended_Roms/Cingular_8125_108-ExtRom.rar
Since it is a WM5, there should be no problem on installing the needed CABs on the TyTN, you just have to know which ones have the operator settings, do not install the rest of the cabs found on the ExtROM.
Hope that helps
pof you the man.
Thanks a lot.
AJH
Guys...let me know if you get this to work. I wasn't able to get the E icon for edge to work after copying the Cingular Edge .cab files over. It continues to show G for GPRS.

From the Hermes Frequently Asked Questions:
"The reg tweak working for the previous models to show the [E] instead of [G] when you are on the EDGE network is not working on the Hermes "

thanks..should have searched first for this but now I know.

New iMate ROM & Black

G'Day,
After reading and re-reading the wiki and lots of threads, I took the plunge and flashed my JasJam.
I now have Black 2.0, Radio 1.38.30.10, SPL 1.11.Olipro. Once all that was done, installed all the CABs from JASJAM_1.31.305.103_ExtROM_Telstra.
While I don't think I actually flashed the ExtROM (I suspect I would've noticed) I just unzipped the JASJAM_1.31.305.103_ExtROM_Telstra, copied everything to my SD and ran Autorun.
Now that I'm all done, I just recieved an email from our support guys saying that there is a new iMate Telstra ROM available. I'm d/ling the exe file and given the size, I suspect it's going to be an OS and maybe the ExtROM.
Is there any way I can deconstruct the file and just get the CABs that I want (i.e. Foxtel by Mobile, Telstra MyPlace...)?
Thanks,
Baggy

The new ExtROM is on the Wiki... there is not much change to the new ROM... just some bluetooth patches that you must not install if you are running Black 2.0

As far as I could see, the vew ROM version was Telstra specific as it had the Foxtel and Bigpond MyPlace. I assumed that these would be in the ExtROM. Is that correct?

Dopod 838 Pro - Telstra

Need some advice folks. Currently on an assignment in Australia and have just upgraded my Cingular 8125 to a Dopod 838 Pro. I'm with Telstra. Problem is any time I reboot the phone, the Network Wizard executes and errors out. Fine. I manually load Network settings but then i find out a couple of hours later that my manual settings have just disappeared.
I've scoured this site and see that I can do a variety of things, including loading the latest JasJam ROM. Regardless, whats the issue and short of doing a ROM upgrade (did plenty on my 8125, so it doesnt frighten me) what can i do?
Please advise.

Theres a file on DopodAsia's wedsite for Tesltra users, it enables newer settings. You put it in your MyDocs folder on the Dopod, and basically boot up. It uses the file, updates Network Wizard and will work properly. Its due to Tesltra's codes changing and the launch of NextG.

You wont be able to get these files unless you have a dopod serial to register with. I would suggest maybe you flash the newest telstra rom instead of the 838

you can download the latest Imate ROM from their website which fixes your problem
hmmm weird. try again with attachment for cab file for telstra.
installs other stuff so beware like a proxy changes ie default and wap. all can be undone but gives u ur settings.
just saw this...
after my last post maybe helps u
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=284812
it is ur device and australia specific.
Thanks folks for so many rapid responses... I was able to get the Network Wizard "fix" from Dopod's Australian service center yesterday. Unfortunately, I purchased the phone from ebay and the previous owner had already registered the serial number, so it's not letting me re-register. I've called Dopod directly to proces my registration, but they've not called me back yet.
simon_darley: will that .cab file set all the required settings on WM6? (I am considering upgrading to WM6, and a Cab file with all the Telstra settings would be nice and easy)
Does it add any of the Telstra software?
telstra aust cabs
the previous cab was the old one from the original rom released when the phone was sold and was incomplete so far as mms and other settings.
attached here is the latest from a new imate rom compulsory for telstra users and in conjunction with telstra proposed phone/data upgrade of their system should work more effectively.
i also use the telstra recommended imate radio upgrade 1.38.30.1 i think it is.
all of which runs perfectly now on wm6 including the wm6 media streaming which imate wm5 requires pvplayer as ms didnt release media streaming until wmK.
so now it works perfectly with foxtel video streaming and in 2 wks should allow simultaneous voice data connectivity which the telstra hw upgrade shouldfix for us.
i also include the my place cab which allows foxtel and videos to stream without using the download mb limits. so if u access foxtel via my place over next g it doesnt count towards the mb usage.
i have all the cabs from the upgrade and post them here for what i used only but in reality u may only need 1 or 2. i have all but installed only 5.
the ext rom in full is on xda dev if u want to download. i dont really know wot the other 3 do so installed and didnt cause any harm.
hmmm something odd nxt post should contain attachments... lost wifi...! bak soon
hmmm truble upload from pda apologies... wifi ... trying again

Installing Alltel ROM on Sprint Mogul

Hi,
I really want to install the Alltel ROM on my Sprint Mogul. I've searched around and didn't come up with anything, so can someone more knowledgeable on the subject tell me if this is a good idea, or if it's begging to have my phone bricked:
I downloaded the Alltel ROM and extracted its NBH contents using nbhextract. The CID is set to ALLTE001.
I also downloaded the newest Sprint ROM and extracted its NBH contents. That one's CID is set to SPCS_001.
Can I use nbhgen to change the CID of the Alltel ROM to Sprint's?
*edit: Nevermind. Gave this a shot and just got an error from RUU.
Um, yeah you will get an error. And, why are you trying this in the first place?
I use Cricket for my service. I've gotten everything except incoming MMS to work, and the problem is with how Sprint's Data Provisioning is nested in the Mogul's Sprint ROM. There are IOTA settings in the registry, but I really have no idea about how to modify them since Cricket doesn't require any data provisioning.
On my 6700, ArcSoft would automatically dial the connection I had specified in the settings when an MMS arrived. Now, it attempts to connect to Power Vision, and I get an IOTA error about how the device failed to connect to Power and I should contact Sprint. I know that the Alltel ROM would not have these problems.
Another idea that I had was to completely replace my current registry with Alltel's (I have a complete dump), but I'm not too sure how to go about doing that, either. When I restore the file with PHM, the Sprint and Alltel settings just coexist with eachother.
If you have any ideas or suggestions here, they'd be appreciated.
my understanding of crickets data services was that they use simple ip and a proxy for http. have you changed the mogul to use simple ip? i think all you really need is a way of stopping an IOTA aka "vision profile update"
Exactly, but I'm not sure how to go about stopping that. My latest venture is to get someone with an Alltel PPC6800 to take a full SPB backup of the registry, so that their settings will overwrite all of Sprint's.
Do you know of a way to disable IOTA?

delete the guardian file in Windows startup - then delete the IOTA folder - in program files.. this is what I did to make the mogul work on Alltel before they launched the 6800. I also went through the registry and deleted a couple of IOTA registry keys.. I can't remember where they were though.. Finally, I deleted the error 67 notification in the registry and everything worked perfectly..
Now that the Hard SPL for the device is out you can install the alltel rom directly from the exe after the hard spl is installed.
Yeah I got this going a few days ago. MMS is working perfectly now!
I ran Olipro's unlocker and popped the Alltel ROM WITH the ExtROM and everything works WITHOUT any special consideration. You could say that it "worked straight out the box".
Now the qyestions are 1) now that I've unpacked the RUU_signed.nbh, how do I repack it, and 2) where is the extended rom in the unpacked nbh? I guess these are the big questions for getting Mogul kitchens together and cooking ROMs.
Yeah the Alltel ROM is running pretty well. Definitely an improvement over the stock sprint ROM. Not a huge difference, but it's definitely worth the upgrade until we get some ROM Kitchens/Heavily Modified/Improved ROMs.
don't u guys miss java support?
I can't run opera mini anymore once I switched to Alltel...
Install Esmertec Cloudyfa Java it's better than the builtin on Sprint. Saving space if anything
so how do i get the alltel rom on my sprint mogel? if i am with sprint

go to ppc geeks and check out the 6800 forum.
instructions are at the top.
Is there a memory difference at all between the 2? If so, what is best to go with? What is the advantage to the Alltel one over the Sprint?...Sorry...kinda a n00b...but not really...lol
hate not having mms - flashin alltel now thanks guys!

Rebuilding rom with SPL & Radio, Bad Idea?

I recently have found that to have a rom fit for my needs and to work properly with my exchange server settings, etc. that I need to rebuild roms (easier than starting from scratch). I am not planning on re-distributing them, they are mainly for my use, and others that use a specific exchange server setup like I do.
Anyway onto my main question:
Using the different tools I have found through Google and xda-developers, I have started to extract the radio nb file so that I can build a new NBH with the radio and the rom. I have also toyed with the idea to do the SPL into the NBH so that I don't have to worry if it has been flashed or not. I also will be flashing the roms from my microsd card (which I have been doing with my modified rom already).
Thank you in advance!
Putting an OS and a radio in a single NBH is perfectly acceptable. However, I don't think you can include Hard-SPL in there because it is flashed through SSPL, and it should really be the only thing flashed in that manner.

Got it, thanks for the quick reply too!
I noticed your signature, and saw that you have the rilphoneauto. I see an EXT and OEM type file, but I am only familiar with cooking in cabs and making minor entries. I wouldn't know where to begin to add in an OEM or EXT to the roms that I modify/re-cook.
They're basically directories with a slightly varied structure that you put in an appropriate kitchen directory and then select inside the kitchen UI. If you're using the new "visual" kitchen, you should use the EXT package; otherwise the OEM. There are tutorials all over the forums explaining how to use them. I'm probably not the best person to do it anyway since I've only been cooking for a little while
