Did Hard-spl, error 262 during flash, stuck on bootloader now, xp doesnt recognize

Hi,
I thought I did enough reading to hard-spl my g4 cingular 8125 but i guess not...
Anyways, I did the hard-spl and everything seemed to go smoothly. Then I went ahead and tried to flash the Touch no Evil ROM (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=327215).
About 4% into the flash I got error 262: update error. Now the device is stuck on bootloader with IPL 2.21.0001 and SPL 2.21.01ip. Plugging in the usb shows "USB" at the bottom left corner of the wizard's screen but I cant detect the device in windows. Since I cant detect the device, I cant remove hard-spl and attempt to reflash using soft-spl the stock 8125 spl and rom.
Anyone have any suggestions on how to remedy the situation? Or did I just brick this thing
Any help or even linking to the right threads would be appreciated. A couple hours of searching didnt yield anything but maybe im looking for the wrong things...
Thanks,
Anushian
EDIT: More searching yielded this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=276963&highlight=stuck+bootloader
Basically use MTTY_updateROM.exe to dump the ROM onto an SD Card and restore from that? I dont have a card on me so Id rather get some input before going to buy one just to try this... Mainly, I need to know if the hard-spl still renders the unit CID unlocked and capable of preforming this method.
hello
i had the same problem and it seems its the Ruu i guess you used the ruu thats in touch no evil rom but your device is ok use the wizard love rom http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=298613 and then flash again with the tool that said in g4.7 and it works dont flash to original rom because it contains isp spl and can brick your phone i hope it helps.

Hi and thanks for the tip. I tried wiz love rom flash again and this time it worked (didnt recognize usb first time?). Anyways it went up to 6% and died since the battery died. Im going to just get a standalone charger and charge it and try again. Will probably take 2 weeks to get here though...
My main question is, based on the info provided, is the phone bricked or is it still repairable with a reflash? I didnt find much info related to hard-spl and restoring with the SD methods besides just that the phone must be CID unlocked...
Thanks!
if you have hard spl then you have cid unlock so your phone is ok if you flash wizard love rom use the ruu thats is in wizard love folder dont flash any official rom, try to change from computer or stop running other programs while flashing and your device is not bricked unless you intall official rom.

RAPH Paper weight - SPL

Dear all,
I am facing a problem here.
Had a hardware problem with the built in microphone and had to revert back to stock rom/splash screen/Original SPL in that order.
Had no problems reverting the ROM and the original screen back (just a couple of flashes), BUT when I tried to revert back the stock SPL here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=110582&d=1220406410
I renamed the file to RAPHIMG.nbh, copied it to the root of the SD Card and entered bootloader mode and this is what it displays:
RAPH100
SPL-1.90.0000 (Which means a successful flash)
!!! AND THEN THIS !!!
"Upgrade ROM code error"
"Please try again"
This message is located in the last part of the green stripe in the tri color screen (bootloader)
It is then followed by the grey screen automatically which you are supposed to press volume key to start a flash process BUT it just HANGS at Loading...
unabling you to flash anything.
It's actually a friend's phone too so I guess you understand how hard it is....
Any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance
Possible image might be corrupt on sd card, grey screen is shown when it's trying to read sd, have you tried with sd removed? if you get to 2nd tricolor screen with sd removed i would use usb flash to restore it to working order..

Removed the SD and it stays at the tricolor screen with the spl version as mentioned in 1st post.
Also, displaying the Upgrade ROM code error, please try again message
The mode is currently serial
What can I do from here?

You cannot flash an SPL from the bootloader. You need to use SSPL. The directions can be found in the HardSPL thread.

Hey man, thx for stopping by..
If I understand correctly, SSPL runs through the device which is stuck at bootloader currently... or am I hopefully wrong??
If you're at the tricolor screen and it reads serial, that should be fine.. plug in usb and it should switch to usb.. then flash a stock carrier rom through usb.. that should get you up and running and you can then run sspl and flash your spl

That's exactly why i suggested stock ROM, stock SPL will only accept stock ROM's (it will overwrite the spl too so make sure the stock rom you are using is the right one)
dude....i hate to say this...butyou might be s.o.l. at this point. i did the same to my fuze not too long ago... tryingto flash anything to the phone just locks it up.i was lucky enough to bs my way through an att guy to get me a new one (was still under the 30 day warranty).

I had the same problem as you and could not flash any rom, Always get Invalid vendor ID.
You need the right Stock Rom to flash and in my case in the middleeast, the Stock Rom is so far only available in at HTC.
I had to take the phone to HTC Service Center and they flashed the correct Stock Rom and charged me as they did it out of warranty.

Sorry about my last post... I misread your issue.
If you flashed the stock 1.90 SPL from the HardSPL thread, then you will need to ask Olipro (or cmonex) which WWE ROM it originated from. That ROM is the ONLY one your phone will accept.
The steps in reverting SPL for warranty / return state to always do the ROM first so that you do not run into this problem. I had the same issue when I was testing a US 3G Diamond I bought from Best Buy (to become acclimated to TF3D prior to the Fuze's release). I restored the SPL first, and then couldn't get Dutty's ROM off the phone, because I could not locate a downloadable version of the WWE ROM that phone came with. [Luckily, Best Buy Mobile's employees in KOP, PA aren't too clever, and I was able to convince them that the phone came that way. ]

Hmm, then I need to know from which ROM the SPL originated and then flash it.
Thing is, some of the shipped roms available at wiki are just nbh files..
I tried flashing with the wrapper exe and the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe and still all roms I've downloaded don't seem to work.
It's a RAPH100 untied to a network.

Post in the HardSPL thread asking which ROM the SPL originated from. Once you know that, you can download the appropriate ROM from the Wiki.

SPL has nothing to do with the Invalid Vendor ID Error, It is the CID. In another word you can flash SPL 1.95 and still can not flash the AT Rom 1.95.502.5 because the CID is different.
Regards
ViperBJK's QMAT features GoldCard generator for current HTC devices that can force RUU to bypass CID check.
Do you know what is the CID of your device?

The CID is determind by the SPL.
Look up the error code posted... everything points to HardSPL. Back in my Wizard days, HardSPL did not exist, and we just did a CID unlocking. This is not the case with newer devices.
All ROMs are not created equal. Each WWE ROM checks for specific information within the SPL, and if it doesn't find what it's expecting, fail...

I'm not sure
Where can I know that?
@NotATreoFan && Shafez,
I remember from TyTNII day when Shafez suggested extracting 3.29 and 28 SPLs from the newer shipped 6.1's for a better responsive device.
We could extract and build with htc rom tool if I remember the name of the tool correctly.
Do we have a tool as such compatible with TP? (agreeing with NotATreoFan here)
@Shafez,
Since you think it is not SPL and it is a CID issue, what can I do about it?
Sending it to SVC for repair out of warranty is an option but I'd like to leave it as my last.
Did they provide the ROM or they flashed it for you?
Were u able to make raw files out of it for future use or any1 else has it?
Thx guys and keep the help coming

Since you cannot get past the bootloader, your only option is to find the WWE ROM that matches the SPL you flashed. Even though the HTC ROM Tool "signs" the NBH file, it still won't fool the stock bootloader... if it did, we wouldn't need HardSPL.

[Q] HD2 Bricked?

Hello.
Okay so I had HSPL 1.42 on my phone.
I extracted the 'RUU_signed.nbh' of the official 3.14 stock ROM from the .exe file that HTC provided.
I changed it's name to 'LEOIMG.nbh' and placed it on the root of my SD card.
I then tried flashing the new ROM by entering the bootloader.
For some reason (power was NOT lost) the ROM upgrade failed half way through.
Now when I try and boot the phone normally, it displays a grey screen with an alert symbol saying 'Software update failed. Please try again'
It then takes me to the bootloader screen
The SPL version has changed from HSPL 1.42 to SPL-3.03.0000
Below these details it displays the message 'Upgrade ROM code error. Please try again'
Due to the SPL version being 3.03, I am unable to install any HSPL version onto it again.
When I try to flash the official ROM 3.14 again via the official RUU (via laptop) it fails
What do I do? IS MY PHONE BRICKED?!
i think your hd2 is not bricked just without os and i think you are going to wait for the new hspl
Okay
Thanks for your reply
I seem to remember somewhere that I might be able to solve it somehow by using a friend's HD2...hmmm...not sure though
EDIT: I managed to finally download the 1.48 stock ROM. When I try to change to this ROM via the RUU it reaches 1% and then fails.
MTN_HD2 said:
i already know what will happen . the 3.14 rom cant work correctly (in another word works like ****) with SPLs other than 3.03. so if i install it since theres an HSPL on it the SPL version wont change to 3.03 . to change its spl , you should install the rom once more from the sd card which will freeze in the middle of the update and the result is a f'd ROM and SPL 3.03 .
since theres no HSPL support on 3.03 , theres no comeback and you will be f'd until a new HSPL is released
btw what SPL version does the 1.66 official update install?

mh..i'm nearly 100% sure, that it has to work...
was it really YOUR stock rom? sure that your phone wasnt branded?
DN41
Well I got my phone second hand from CeX (English shop)
It had the unbranded stock ROM on it, and no physical branding on the phone like the T-Mobile name. But when I put in my S/N to the unbranded update thingy it said the download wasn't suitable for my device so I used someone elses S/N
so it seems that they flashed the stock rom, but your phone is originally branded.
if i was you, i would call them and ask or i would use my own S/N and check all downloads on htc.com. then you'll see of an o2, tmo, vdf or whatever is downloadable.
the one, which is downloadable with your s/n, should be flashed via sd.

hi guys , u need download ur original room ( stock room ) and flash in normal way . after that ur spl is 1.66 or 1.42 depend ur network , after that u ready to upgrade with the rom u want .
Hello to everyone, the problem you mention isn't related to the stock ROM 3.14 but are related to the users who are flashing a non compatible aria ROM.
So my instructions to you are the follow use the stock rom that came from your aria; download the right stock rom from the HTC webpage by using YOUR S/N.
Moved thread to the right section.
yep tried that, flashed RUU_Leo_Vodafone_DE_1.72.162.0_Radio_CRC_Signed_15.32.50.07U_2.07.51.22_2_Ship.exe
i ran it from the sd card and everything said ok but still only loads to tricolour bootloader. i think it has something to do with the radio...won't update from RUU (been using LeoAdvancedRUU 1.03) or sd.
think i'm screwed...
Hi All,
I was facing this same issue for a long time with respect to the 3.03 ROMS.... Yesterday while searching for a solution, I found a website which hosts all types of Shipped ROMS ever published... Just select the ROM belonging to your region from there and Flash it... that will downgrade your SPL to the lower versions... (I personally flashed the 1.48 series ROM for INDIA which is available in that list and now am using WP7 ROM by DFT.... )
Hope this Helps !!!! CHEERS !!!
Please find the URL for India 1.48 series ROM below
P.S. You will find all roms on this website... just do a Ctrl+F for your country on the list of the ROM page.

Help on reinstalling stock ROM

I was trying to flash the stock rom from the sd card in order to get rid of the hspl but I flashed it with the wrong rom and now my phone will not get past the 4 color screen. I tried to flash with the stock tmobile rom but I keep getting error. When I try to flash with the sd with the tmobile RUU it will say "loading..." and does nothing. I tried to run the exe file with windows and I will get errors everytime. Did I brick my phone?

Good question, I have sean lot of users installing a wrong ROM, but on the correct device.
the HD2 T-Mous device isn't the same as the european device.
But I'm not sure at 100% you can save it.(lucky the new 3.14 european stock rom have the same radio if not it was total stuck.)
but now how to restore
I mean you have already try to flash (the correct on) over SD and it didn't works.
can you tell witch error you get when you was trying to flash the correct stock ROM over SD or by your PC?

I have tried to flash again and again from the SD card and when I flash with the official Tmous ROM, it will get stuck at the installing screen and does nothing. If I try to restore with windows using the exe file, it will look like its doing something but will error out after a few minutes staying at 0%.
Also right now it shows
PB91120 SS-B3
SPL-3.03.000 XE
MicroP(LED) 0x05
MicroP(Touch) 0x50

I may be wrong, however, if you're still having a problem you may need to reinstall MAGLDR again after a failed sd card flash.

When trying to flash the correct ROM over SD it will just have the plain white screen with "installing..." on the top and it does nothing. I left it alone for an hour and nothing happens.
When trying to flash with the exe on my computer, I will go through all the process and click next, next next, then it tries to update the rom (on the phone it shows the black HTC screen with the status bar) and it stays at that screen at 0% and after a few minutes it will show update failed on the pc while the phone still shows the status bar at 0%. The PC shows Error 262: update error, The rom update utility encountered communication errors during the update process.

Just tried MAGLDR and it shows the same problem as if I was trying to flash the correct ROM.

What is the gold card method?
Would it be safe to just send my device as it is now? All that it saids when I boot it up is SPL 3.03 in the bootloader screen. Would that make it out of warrantee if I flashed the wrong rom?
i think so as the hspl is off your phone. out of ideas otherwise, ya know? what can it hurt (assuming kurt, etc. don't have ideas)?
question will be if they can see the rom, etc. but even then it still is official, just not right.

Don't lose hope and be patient. There are a LOT of people much smarter than me here. It's just that they're preoccupied right now doing a much need reorganization of the XDA site. Keep reading and give the smart guys a chance to help you by continuing to post any additional info you can gleen from your phone problem.
Hmm, it isn't looking good.
If you only have flashed a wrong radio, well it wasn't so obvious for HTC to see what have caused the problem so there was 50% chance that the warranty worked. (but you may never say them that you have flashed, if not thy will suspect a wrong manipulation of the user.)
But beside that you have flashed the stock ROM form a other device. the problem is the SPL => 3.03 this isn't for your device.
SPL are like Secondary Program Loader. Think of this in the same sense as bios on a pc. (it sets where your system boots from, intialises sub system process etc)
so this is a bigger problem.
And when you will send your device to HTC repair center thy will see directly the wrong spl; so no warranty.
I'm sorry to say, but personally I don't see a solution.

I have a Tmobile US HD2 phone and without knowing better, I flashed it the first time with:
RUU_Leo_S_HTC_WWE_3.14.405.2_Radio_15.42.50.11U_2.15.50.14_LEO_S_Ship.exe
What can I do now?

Very optimistic, but he have install the latest EU/Asian stock ROM on his T-Mous device.
Installing these latest stock ROM install the spl 3.03 (who isn't the same/compatible) this brakes his device.

I'm assuming that he would know to install a TMOUS stock ROM, not a foreign version. My point was that it was possible to recover by installing a stock ROM.

Well, the other thread had the OP listing the exact same message, and she had also accidentally installed the wrong SPL. I just thought it deserved a look.
