OEM AT&T SPL 95 vs 90 Question - Touch Pro, Fuze ROM Development

The Wiki states that AT&T OEM Rom 1.95.502.5 came with SPL version 95. All the other AT&T Roms say they came with SPL version 90. If I revert back to version 90 do I brick it or is 95 just a typo in the Wiki. I have not seen ay reference to SPL 95 other than in the Wiki. As you can't see the original SPL version on the phone before you flash hard SPL I'm nervous I'm going to brick my phone.
Thanks!

Im quite certain thats an incorrect entry, afaik the only other version of SPL around is the CDMA versions (which wont be on your device).
Whoever entered that info is getting confused with the ROM version numbers notice that that ROM has an OEM version of 1.95...the SPL is most likely 1.90. either way ALOT of members have flashed HArdSPL to thier fuze device without issue.

I do remember seeing a thread asking if someone would make a version of HARDspl with 1.95. But like you said, 1.90 works just fine. I have flashed my fuze over 30 times in 2 weeks with 1.90.
I have the extracted spl but I am not sure if there is a way to open it to read spl version number. Now I am curious lol and will have to do some research.

No the 1.95 refers to the OEM version.....such as the display drivers and USB drivers etc.... you wont find the SPL version number in the ROM file name or in the startup screen.
If needs be I can see if cmonex can check the version....and that ROM is definatly for GSM devices, it is the Fuze release ROM.
The CDMA stuff you will find on the same page with SPL versions 0.36 and (i think) 0.34....?

I need to return for warranty
I'm not a NOOB, I flashed my Tilt over 100 times. WAYYYYYY over 100 times. I flashed my Fuze to Hard SPL 1.90 and have tried 5 roms so far. I have a bad home key and need to return my Fuze. If my Fuze did indeed come with OEM SPL version 1.95 and I downgrade it to OEM 1.90 to return it I want to ensure that 1. I don't brick it and 2. I dont void my warranty on a 5 day old Fuze with a bad home key. I just don't want to get hosed over a Home Key. Thanks everyone!

Dumping SPL 1.95
Does anyone feel like Dumping SPL 1.95 and putting it up? I'm not dead in the water by any stretch with the home key but I'd like to take advantage of the 30 days free swap out for a NEW not Refub Fuze. I wonder if anyone else had done a return and not put 1.95 back on.

It is very likely that ATT would never notice. Hell 80% of the company dosent even know the fuze exists lol.
That said, I have the SPL dumped. I wont be able to upload it until tomorrow though. I am at work all day.
You should be able to load it as per the directions in the Hard spl thread. Anyone that has opened the nbh can possibly post it before then though.
You could also post in the Hardspl thread or pm olipro or cmonex.

Thanks!
Thank you, I'm available as a US Beta Tester if anyone needs one.

I had to return a Fuze already, and I did so with SPL 1.90 from the HardSPL thread. All the guy at the store did was make sure the phone was in the box, didn't even turn it on.

Fortunately for us the service "experts" at ATT are not to smart. When I returned my TILT a few months ago they were shown how the keyboard was messed up but didn't even look through any of the settings either......
Imagine if some of us worked there...they would probably save a fortune on returns

Can you tell us what store you work in?
Nothing personal but just in case someone here ever needs to return a Fuze, we want to make certain you are not there to make certain it is still stock.

i live i alabama
but if someone mentions this xda website when the device is returned i kinda look away and give it an all clear. if xda is not mentioned i go through it with a fine tooth comb.
that is with me only.
others maybe different.

So are you saying that if I flash my Fuze back to the stock rom, then flash the 1.90 stock spl, then flash the stock ROM again my spl will be back to 1.95?

Sending her in for replacement. . . what should i do?

ok guys and girls. I just put in a request to have my phone replaced because of screen issues. I have SuperCID unlocked my phone, and have the XDA live running on it right now with radio version 1.27. What do i need to do to make it looked like the phone has never been messed with?
I just don't want them to call me back and give me @#$% about it.
Thanx for the help.
how about flash the rom it came with
You can flash the original ROM version and language. But the SuperCID stays. Unlikely that they'd spot this unless they examine the phone deeply.
I sent a SuperCID'ed and SIM unlocked Cingular 8125 in for replacement about 7 months ago and it was replaced without question. I know they're different devices, but that's my experience.
k thanx for the help guys
hey im sending my device in with screen issues as well, and i have the 1.34 radio is there any way to get it back to the 1.16 radio it came with. i tried to flash it back but it never starts upgrading
I handed in my bricked JASJAM a couple of days ago for "warranty repair". No word yet whether the warranty will cover this or I will have to pay the MB swap.
SSPL Tool will work for this.

You should not have to worry about the CID, but it might be better if you flash the old ROM and radio. SSPL is the way to go if you can't flash it back to what is was.
Yeah, hopefully SuperCID isn't a problem, but it would be nice to have a way to reverse it some time in the future, especially now that Des's SSPL makes it redundant for most people.

Des SSPL uses spl 1.09 which does not have 'rtask' command, so you must use a radio upgrade in NBH format, not in NBF as you're probably using now.

The price seems to vary a bit depending on the country. A couple of guys on the dead hermes thread have done it. This post shows that the prices charged by HTC America and HTC Europe vary significantly.
just to ask, if i use the aku 2.3, radio 1.16 rom full update from the wiki site, will it change everything back for me or will i have to use the sspl program? I just want to make it look like verything is fine.

RAPH Paper weight - SPL

Dear all,
I am facing a problem here.
Had a hardware problem with the built in microphone and had to revert back to stock rom/splash screen/Original SPL in that order.
Had no problems reverting the ROM and the original screen back (just a couple of flashes), BUT when I tried to revert back the stock SPL here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=110582&d=1220406410
I renamed the file to RAPHIMG.nbh, copied it to the root of the SD Card and entered bootloader mode and this is what it displays:
RAPH100
SPL-1.90.0000 (Which means a successful flash)
!!! AND THEN THIS !!!
"Upgrade ROM code error"
"Please try again"
This message is located in the last part of the green stripe in the tri color screen (bootloader)
It is then followed by the grey screen automatically which you are supposed to press volume key to start a flash process BUT it just HANGS at Loading...
unabling you to flash anything.
It's actually a friend's phone too so I guess you understand how hard it is....
Any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance
Possible image might be corrupt on sd card, grey screen is shown when it's trying to read sd, have you tried with sd removed? if you get to 2nd tricolor screen with sd removed i would use usb flash to restore it to working order..

Removed the SD and it stays at the tricolor screen with the spl version as mentioned in 1st post.
Also, displaying the Upgrade ROM code error, please try again message
The mode is currently serial
What can I do from here?

You cannot flash an SPL from the bootloader. You need to use SSPL. The directions can be found in the HardSPL thread.

Hey man, thx for stopping by..
If I understand correctly, SSPL runs through the device which is stuck at bootloader currently... or am I hopefully wrong??
If you're at the tricolor screen and it reads serial, that should be fine.. plug in usb and it should switch to usb.. then flash a stock carrier rom through usb.. that should get you up and running and you can then run sspl and flash your spl

That's exactly why i suggested stock ROM, stock SPL will only accept stock ROM's (it will overwrite the spl too so make sure the stock rom you are using is the right one)
dude....i hate to say this...butyou might be s.o.l. at this point. i did the same to my fuze not too long ago... tryingto flash anything to the phone just locks it up.i was lucky enough to bs my way through an att guy to get me a new one (was still under the 30 day warranty).

You need the right Stock Rom to flash and in my case in the middleeast, the Stock Rom is so far only available in at HTC.
I had to take the phone to HTC Service Center and they flashed the correct Stock Rom and charged me as they did it out of warranty.

Sorry about my last post... I misread your issue.
If you flashed the stock 1.90 SPL from the HardSPL thread, then you will need to ask Olipro (or cmonex) which WWE ROM it originated from. That ROM is the ONLY one your phone will accept.
The steps in reverting SPL for warranty / return state to always do the ROM first so that you do not run into this problem. I had the same issue when I was testing a US 3G Diamond I bought from Best Buy (to become acclimated to TF3D prior to the Fuze's release). I restored the SPL first, and then couldn't get Dutty's ROM off the phone, because I could not locate a downloadable version of the WWE ROM that phone came with. [Luckily, Best Buy Mobile's employees in KOP, PA aren't too clever, and I was able to convince them that the phone came that way. ]

Hmm, then I need to know from which ROM the SPL originated and then flash it.
Thing is, some of the shipped roms available at wiki are just nbh files..
I tried flashing with the wrapper exe and the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe and still all roms I've downloaded don't seem to work.
It's a RAPH100 untied to a network.

SPL has nothing to do with the Invalid Vendor ID Error, It is the CID. In another word you can flash SPL 1.95 and still can not flash the AT Rom 1.95.502.5 because the CID is different.

ViperBJK's QMAT features GoldCard generator for current HTC devices that can force RUU to bypass CID check.
Do you know what is the CID of your device?

The CID is determind by the SPL.
Look up the error code posted... everything points to HardSPL. Back in my Wizard days, HardSPL did not exist, and we just did a CID unlocking. This is not the case with newer devices.
All ROMs are not created equal. Each WWE ROM checks for specific information within the SPL, and if it doesn't find what it's expecting, fail...

I'm not sure
Where can I know that?
@NotATreoFan && Shafez,
I remember from TyTNII day when Shafez suggested extracting 3.29 and 28 SPLs from the newer shipped 6.1's for a better responsive device.
We could extract and build with htc rom tool if I remember the name of the tool correctly.
Do we have a tool as such compatible with TP? (agreeing with NotATreoFan here)
@Shafez,
Since you think it is not SPL and it is a CID issue, what can I do about it?
Sending it to SVC for repair out of warranty is an option but I'd like to leave it as my last.
Did they provide the ROM or they flashed it for you?
Were u able to make raw files out of it for future use or any1 else has it?
Thx guys and keep the help coming

Since you cannot get past the bootloader, your only option is to find the WWE ROM that matches the SPL you flashed. Even though the HTC ROM Tool "signs" the NBH file, it still won't fool the stock bootloader... if it did, we wouldn't need HardSPL.

Restore to Dutch Stock T-mobile. Incl. SPL, Splash & Radio

Anyone please confirm I am thinking right?
Here’s what I did:
1.From T-mobile.cz I got the factory Czech T-Mobile Rom (*.exe)
2. I extracted the *.exe with WinRar and got a bunch of files.
3. I took out RUU_Signed and extracted it with NBHtool and got 4 *.NB files:
769.nb
PrimarySplash.nb
SPL.nb
Windows.nb
4. In the meanwhile I extracted my original reconstructed Dutch T-Mobile RUU_Signed.nbh (confirmed working) and took the Windows.nb
5. From the Czech *.nb files I deleted the windows.nb and replaced it with my Dutch windows.nb
6. With htcRIE 0.5.0.12 I put the three Czech NB’s:769.nb (suppose radio), PrimarySplash.nb and SPL.nb together with The Dutch windows.nb together in New RUU_signed.nbh.
7. I put the newly created RUU_Signed back into the folder with files from step 2.
8. Using Winrar I stuffed ala these files together in an *.sfx file that has an instruction saying that after extracting the sfx it should start RomUpdateUtility.
9. So far so good! I clicked the sfx and it would nicely extract and start the Czech RomUpdateUtility. The utility being Czech is no problem as I/we have been using it probably a sillion times and don’t read it.
10. Now I don’t have the guts to test it on my Dutch MDA Vario IV JJ but want to know wether this would work in case of RMA.
I remember that the Dutch factory ROM-upgrade for T-Mobile Vario III (Kaiser) would restore everything: SPL, Splash etc) By doing the above I somehow think I have re-created sort of a Dutch “factory” ROM upgrade that will restore everything back to stock.
Suppose this works, will I be able to go back to Hard SPL a second time? (heard some rumors...)
I want you guys to know that I don’t have any education in ICT but consider myself smart enough to figure things like this out . However… I am not too sure about what I have created.
Thnx. For any kind of feedback.
Am willing to upload this for people who want to try.
Free Rapidshare (10 downloads) if needed I will put it in my FTP.
Was it not in The raphael original shipped ROM wiki?
Also if it would help, I think I still have the files backed up at home somewhere. If you want I could look for it.

It was but when reading the thread that goes with it I get serious doubts about that one working well
I have them backed up as well but I never dumped the splash, radio and more important the SPL. and everyone is talking about SPL's lately but no one can answer me wether one of the offered solutions is a working one.
So I was thinking to sort of creating a oneclick solution for whenever a RMA occures to me again
Was this a dumb question?

If you were able to download a factory ROM directly from your Carrier's website, then it would include everything you need to return your device to stock.
Then, all you would have to do is follow the instructions in the Hard-SPL thread to install the stock SPL (if you've flashed Hard-SPL), and then re-flash the factory ROM you downloaded to restore the original SPL.

There is no Dutch T-Mobile factoryrom.. that is the first thing I checked of course even before I had my first Vario IV at home.
And I still think somehow to remember that flashing the stock T-Mobile to my old Kaiser did flash the stock SPL as well... however I am starting to have doubts now..
Besides I haven't found anyone yet confirming that the Stock T-Mobile SPL from the Stock SPL thread actually works...
And the thingy I created should flash back stock radio and splash.. would you know of any safe way to test this Captain_Throwback??

I don't know of any "safe" way, no. I have no confidence that the Stock SPL from the stock SPL thread will work, either - that's why I had that thread closed. After you flash the stock SPL from the Hard-SPL thread, you risk bricking your phone if you try flashing a created ROM to it (even if it is created from parts of stock ROMs).
If you have a stock SPL on the phone, its possible that the extracted SPLs from that thread will actually work; but I'm already on my second phone, so I'm not willing to risk trying it.

That's my issue since tuesday I am dealing with my second raph as well the other one was only a couple of weeks old. The mobo burned and they were not able yet to recover anything. But I have set my goals on a working recoverymethod.
Too bad you had your thread closed as it was going somewhere good. and people not reading or trying unconfirmed things take their own risks as this is a development area.
Would you reconsider asking NATF to reopen it and change the topicname?

Well, I think any future conversation on the whole "flashing back to stock" can be carried on in JZ SmartMort's thread with the instructions on how to do that. He also explains in there why none of the SPLs that I extracted will ever overwrite Hard-SPL. Unless Olipro or cmonex enlighten us on how they were able to modify that 1.90 SPL to overwrite the Hard-SPL, that's the only one that'll ever work.
I did see you posted in that thread, but I think if you really NEED a different SPL than one that's in an existing stock ROM, that if you PM Olipro or cmonex, one of them may be able to help you.

It does but it's for MDA Compact IV, aka Touch Diamond... but still am going to look what's inside
edit: cewl it had the splash I wanted inside.
Had the guts to flash...
...and it works. Exept from SPL...
Next step will be flashing this after OLi en cmonex' only for warranty SPL 1.90..
Just wonder wether I will be able to flash back to Hard SPL after this....
Anuone has an idea??

If you're able to successfully flash your Franken-ROM w/stock SPL to your phone after flashing the 1.90 warranty SPL, your phone still works, and you can connect to a computer using Activesync or Mobile Device Center, there's no reason you shouldn't be able to re-flash Hard-SPL onto your device. The key words in that sentence are "if" and "successfully" . . .

AT&T HTC Titan HSPL?

Is there a HSPL for the AT&T Titan yet? Goldcard didn't work Trying to flash stock rom worked, but didn't downgrade SPL So, I diffinetly need HSPL for a branded AT&T Titan. Thanks
Take a look over here at forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1744253. You'll have some reading to do.
If you tried the SPL / HSPL on your AT&T Titan first (before debranding) then you are stuck without a fix (as of yet).
I was in the same boat and my Titan had a memory issue and caller's sound quality was horrible, so I got a warranty exchange from AT&T. When my new one arrived, I de-branded it first with the EUR ROM, then flashed SPL / HSPL and now I absolutely LOVE my Titan (prior, I HATED it). Now (after 6 replacements & no AT&T locks) I have a custom ROM and everything is unlocked and no caller sound quality / memory problems.
Sucks for me then...

Thanks for the info. I guess I will have to wait til developers come up with something for AT&T Titan. I wised the instructions included info for SPL/HSPL on AT&T Titan, Oh well.
Well they didn't know it was going to he different. In all my HtC devices, this is the first that has been different and the most complicated I must say.

Hello, if you actually checked the bottom of the guide I've written for this, it provides instructions on how to apply HSPL for your Titan, assuming you did all the correct steps on debranding it first
V. HSPL
i. Once confirming you have 2.5.xxxx.xx on your SPL screen, you will now proceed to the final part: enabling HSPL. What you will need to do is navigate once more into "DFT_HSPL_WP7SG1" (the .rar file you downloaded from DFT), and go here: >DFT_HSPL_WP7SG1>2_HSPL>DFT_HSPL_WP7SG1_INSTALL.ex e. Open the executable and properly read the instructions.
ii. Enter SPL once more on your phone and plug it into your computer, making sure that it says "usb" in black letters towards the bottom portion of the screen.
iii. Click next on the program and read careful about what requirements you will need on the computer. Typically, it should all be there, but it never hurts to make sure.
iv. Take a deep breath and click next. It will attempt to connect to the phone. If it succeeds, continue reading the instructions the program will display. If it does not work, recheck your wire connection and that you have spl 2.5.xxxx.xx on your device, and that it is in SPL mode.
v. Make sure you select the rom version that you have (it should be the only selection there, but just make sure it is before continuing). Select next once you've made your selection.
vi. It will install HSPL. Once completed, the phone may reboot itself back into SPL mode. If it has succeeded, underneath where it shows your rom version, it will either have "DFT" or "CotullaH" written there. Mine says "CotullaH".

I know exactly where he is stuck because he is using USA AT&T Titan. The HSPL instructions doesn't warn USA AT&T Titans owners of the issue (AND IT SHOULD). So, if you following the procedure that every custom ROM points to exactly (like I did and a lot of other people did) you will be stuck on 2.5 SPL with no way out.
I haven't seen a warning to USA AT&T Titans anywhere that should say to de-brand your Titan first before attempting the HSPL or you'll be stuck.
Your outline will not help this person where he is stuck. Cotulla is working on it (I do believe).
There are a few warnings on the developer forum that AT&T branded phones must first be debranded before the phone can flashed with other roms
Ok, if you say so.

Not totally. You can still update the OS thru cab loader method to Tango and I assume soon after the 7.8 is released you'll be able to do the same. The only thing is you are stuck with crappy stock AT&T ROM. I say crappy because I absolutely hated my phone until I got custom ROM on it. Can you do a warranty exchange with AT&T?
Easy to follow thread for hspl
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684912
If you have the image (or .nbh file) and you dont have it names ETERIMG.nbh it will not flash
here's why, The HTC OEM's names the device eternity. For the USB mode to be able to recognice the correct rom to flash it has to fit the model of phone you have. ETER is the first 4 letters to its OEM name. Add IMG and you got yourself the correct name for flashing roms to your device.

I'm not sure if I have a warranty... I don't think I purchased it. Trying to understand, there's no fix to my situation as of right NOW... But somehow, can developers come up with a fix you think? Or, no matter what, I'm stuck with the stocked ATT Rom?

Cotulla is working on it (I do believe). I stopped reading the thread (http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684912) when I got my new device in and de-branded it first (there by preventing the situation that you are in), however, where I left off in my following that thread was Cotulla asking for USA AT&T testers. I have followed the email notifications that I get from that thread, and nothing new that I've seen. On pages 25 - 28 you'll find that Cotulla is (or was) working on it.
So to answer your question, I tried everything when I was stuck on SPL 2.5 and nothing worked. You are stuck on AT&T stock ROM for now. Maybe throwing $$ at Cotulla would speed the process up?:fingers-crossed:
Hope this helps

Hi, I'm currently on a debranded ATT Titan HSPLed with custom rom. Previously I managed to downgrade my SPL from euro v4 back to stock Cingular rom v1.10 These are the steps I took to downgrade:
1. Flashed stock Cingular rom 1.10 using RUU. This brings my Titan from euro Tango rom to stock cingular rom. However the SPL version was stucked at v4
2. Out of desperation, I flashed the stock TEST Cingular rom 2.01 from this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1477189 again using RUU.
3. Please note that cingular rom 2.01 is a demo/test rom so its not functional.
4. RE-flashed stock Cingular rom 1.10. This time around it downgraded my SPL from v4 to the stock v1.10
Give this a try, and report back. If it works please before trying again to flash HSPL, debrand your titan to euro rom 2.05 using goldcard method
Goodluck.

Hello there,
I had the same situation on my AT&T Titan for 2 weeks, thinking it was my Gold Card or SD, but I finally upgrade the HTC SPL to the official 2.6 from June update.
Then I reflash the Stock AT&T Rom, but the SPL remain at 2.6.
Then I quit for a while. Removed the battery for a couple of days, & tried the Debranding again using the IMG_Eternity_HTC_Europe_2.05.401.01_Radio_Signed_16.23.06.10_16.32.00.23_ETERNITY_RELEASE.nbh, renaming it to ETERIMG.nbh & Goldcard my phone onto this EU Rom.
Then the SPL was downgraded from 2.6 to the EU 2.5.
After that I proceeded to the DTF SPL2.5 & HSPL & voila, the custom Roms.
Hope it help.

My outline comes from the guide I made specifically for AT&T phones that need to do in order to safely debrand and install hspl.
So, if the person went to read the guide fully (where I mention several times that this process is required if they wish to install custom roms) then they can find that they'd be most likely be able to install HSPL after using my debranding method.
My AT&T Titan has HSPL applied and running a custom rom, and there's a picture guide provided in the post to show it.
However, I agree, I do not see any warnings that normally, you can't install HSPL on an AT&T HTC Titan all by itself without debranding. Honestly, there should be, because I can't count how many posts I've seen of people soft-bricking/bricking their devices.
EDIT: However, I guess I forgot to add, you cannot do anything after you applied the custom 2.5 SPL provided by DFT, IF you didn't debrand it prior. If you did debrand your phone, obviously you'll be fine. If you haven't though, then you'll be stuck along with everyone else and you'll need to get a new phone or wait for the fix.

If you plan to revert your phone to stock without any ability to flash custom roms - go ahead.
If you plan to use fully unlocked phone - just forget further touching of SPL part. "Higher" or "lower" - does not matter. We have only stock locked of unlocked custom SPL state.

I bought a Titan already HSPL a while back but I got a 2nd Titan I which is my wife's device and it had not been HSPL until I did it. To make a long story short I undid the HSPL on my device when I used it as a guide to do my wife's device...I was PO'd big time but I successfully HSPL'd her device. It took me four days to re-HSPL my device but I had to go an entirely different path to do it. That's how I know either the Cingular 1.10 or European 1.09 ROMs work; the problems arise in the hardware needed to do this and the newer your Titan is in regards to when it was manufactured the harder it is to HSPL; it's one thing to debrand your device, it's a whole another story HSPL if the internal "flash" drive has been partitioned in such a way that either the drive is slightly corrupted or partitioned in such a way that HSPL is impossible such as the Titan II has been setup which to date is impossible to HSPL. If you're new to this then nothing I'm about to say will make any sense to you, but HSPL allows us to flash our device the way we're accustomed to flashing Windows Mobile/Phone devices for a good long time. In a nut shell if you load an official stock ROM back onto the Titan you're playing with fire. I know owners of these devices that would kill to have their device HSPL and are unable to. You can actually download apps to your device without the Marketplace and make adjustments to the device's settings. It's stunning how locked down carriers and manufacturers make them and why, I do not know. You'd make more money selling the damn thing and buy a stock device if you're hell bent on returning to stock.

Yeah the process took me about four days as well. I used the Cingular and European ROMs. But I guess the European ROM is what worked for me since my phone is now an X310e. But I don't suppose it matters a hill of beans. I'm proud as pie to finally know how to debrand and load custom ROMs.
