I don't need the HTC Taskman and simply use WKTask.

Just bought the Smartflip for my Wife. Personally I have the Jasjar.
Would really appreciate suggestions for a good task manager. Tried omega one's battery pack smartphone edition but does not work well. Think it is too heavy and slows down the device to an unacceptable level and also hangs.
May be something more lighter and able to close tasks which go in the background is required.
Thanks in advance for your valuable input.
Regards
I would personally suggest the one which is shipped with the device...
It's fast enough... Gives you many other information about memory status and can quickly close one or all open tasks...
When you exit it, it really exits also...
It's not really common, but this time it seems the enclosed utility is not so bad... ;-)
Have a try.
Ciao
I've always used XBar3.
It sits sort of underneath the homescreen. You call it up by holding down the select button.

I've flashed my HTC prophey many times and everything went fine, today i tried flashing it with a new rom (evo8en) but then when it said congrats..etc the screen didnt change. so i tried downgrading to WM5, same thing, it said everything was successful, but the screen is still at the tricolour screen.

please follow the steps ....
1. do the RECOVER MODE, remove the battery,
2. wait one minute,
3. repack,
4. power on,
5. press and keep pressing the comm. mgr button, same time, JUST pick the reset for half a second, then ONLY release the stylus,
6. wait for the tri-color screen,
7. release button,
8. connect to a restarted PC,
9. execute PV-temp,
10. follow and complete all 'next' steps,
11. wait for 100% finish, touch NOTHING,
12. prophet will be restarted, activeSync may start in PC, just leave it (do nothing to it),
13. be sure that you had downloaded the EVO8en both part1 and part2 and place in a same place / folder,
14. ONLY EXECUTE PART1.EXE, that is all you need to upgrade, no unzip or what so ever,
15. in the screen, choose 3,
16. follow a few steps on the PC screen and wait,
17, after 9-15 minutes, DONE!!!!!!
IMPORTANT MUST READ!!!
1. MUST HARD RESET IMMEDIATELY,
2. after reboot, the name of the storage card will be first configured as " storage_card" for some advance purposes, just soft reset once more, the SD card name may return back to " storage card " (without under score),
3. BETTER do the "clear storage " now for a more clean prophet,
4. ENJOY ! ! !
EVO8en is designing for pre-supported Asian languages / characters, without HTC home or cube, please install the HTC home for Evo8en to maximize system speed, for more details and download links, please go to my posts in the rom collections of this forum.

hey,thanks!!!
after about 3 hours of installing the prophet temp/restarting..etc it FINALLY got off thr bootloader screen, then i was able to install the evoen smoothly.
Got 2 questions though,in the home page, above the task bar, pretty much on the very top there is about 0.5 mm of space thats coloured with blue and white bars. is that normal?
2nd question is about the HTC cubes or w.e, i didnt get that part, so whats the name of the progs that i'm supposed to install? < nevermind, i went thru all 16 pages of your thread thanks man!!! really nice rom.
thanks, it seems wayyy more stable that the fantastic rom (that rom kept on going from bad to worst, at one point my cell froze when i was using the gps in a city that i've never been in before!!!)

Pwrstat is an indicator of battery and memory status on the left and right part of the screen respectively.
See more information >> http://handheld.softpedia.com/get/System-Utilities/Enhancements/pwrstat-8951.shtml
Delete "pwrstat.lnk" in Windows\StartUp and soft-reset your device will disable the indicator if it seems not right to your eye.
Good luck^^"

Q2 = you had solved trhat by your self already!

I installed HTC Home Plugin on my Verizon XV6800 once before. When i did, it had a an icon on the today screen to control the units volume from ON, SILENT, and VIBRATE. It was the last icon to the right. I had to hard reset my unit. and now when I installed HTC HOME, it is no longer there.
I hate having to tap the tiny little speaker icon at the top of the screen in order to go into silent mode.
What gives?
Any suggestions how to get back or a recommendation for an add-on.
Thanks in advance.
HTCHome plugin has several features to it. If you're using a somewhat recent version, you should easily be able to activate the sound profiles on the today screen by going into Start->Settings->Today. Click on the HTCHome tab at the bottom and make sure Profile is checked.
Figured out what I did.
I originally installed the Kaiser 5 Button HTC plugin.
This time around i install the HTC Home Plugin from Freewarepocketpc.com
I just un-installed the later before seeing you post.
Which one is a more recent version?
The Kaiser has the feature I am looking for. You are saying its available on the HTC Home v1 if i do what you said?
THANKS FOR YOUR HELP!
what about his other question about possible add-ons? i dont like htchome as a whole, but would like some little icon on the today screen that could quickly change sound profiles.
also, is there any way to ahve some kind of program, or registry edit that would allow a sound profile similar to most phones, like an ability to change to ring vs ring and vibrate without having to go into the ringer settings each time?
when my phone is by my bed, i put it on the lowest volume, but when i get a call or text message it still vibrates, cause thats how i like it on every other volume.
any suggestions?

- graphics - well, it's not electopia for sure. it's not even mario... (made in MS Paint?)
- dpad does not look well, win 3.11 style
- lags on my HD2
- does not support multithouch on my HD2
- my characted disappeard few seconds after starting the game. And I had to put the battery out to reset it.
Sorry, this won't be the game of the year.

Ok
1st) the graphics are original sorry you dont like them and it doesnt support multi-touch
2nd) I know people with touch HD2 and there was no lag so i dont know why it lagged on yours.
3)Your charactor disappeared? or did you get killed!!
you said the screen froze and you had to reset. There is an exit button on top right corner of the screen. Did you try pressing that.
4)I find it hard to believe since i know people with touch HD2 and it worked but sorry it for some reason didnt work on yours.
I have only border of a button in right top corner, however clicking it did not help.
Perhaps because I have task manager installed in that place?
I have stock rom and improved opengl drivers installed.
something doesnt make sense?

Testing on an Acer/ETAN m900
Using the little Christian-Style D-Pad (seriously, is it meant to look like a cross) was pretty difficult I must say. I got about 20 meters into the level (that is, if the avatar was human sized) and killed a couple baddies before it bugged out.
The bottom ~1/3 of the screen was showing on the top, and the rest was moved down. It's the kind of thing I see on this device when something is designed for VGA or 4:3 but now 16:9.. this struck me as odd as it bailed with a message "requires 800x480 res" on the Diamond and i900.
All considered a good start IMO.

Actully the game is made for 480x800 resolution exactly. If your device isnt that exact resolution the game will not run. Its wvga resolution only no auto-scale sorry.

That was kind of my point. The M900 is a 800x480 device. It worked for a while, but then wigged out and looked like it was writing to the frame buffer the same way VGA or QVGA apps do on this handset.
I will start since I couldn't find it anywhere.
I like its bigger that's better for my huge hands.
I dislike its feels like I could crush it with my huge hands.

I don't know if its because of how big it is or how thin it is, but I feel like I'm going to drop it when typing and holding with one hand. Original Evo felt better.

The one thing that is absolutely bugging the crap out of me thus far is the notification volume...you can't adjust it separately from the ringtone volume...I dont like my notifications to be as loud as the ring tone personally....
Also I left mine on connected to wifi with screen off over night, and when I turned the screen on I showed the unit had turned off data connections, and once the screen turned on the wifi connection then turned on and connected and got all emails sent over night...
though there is no power settings menu like the 3D had, that ive seen so far...
I miss the search button and HATE that the back button is on the left side and I can't reach it while holding the phone in my right hand.

I agree with the notification/ringtone volume. Seperate volumes is a must. As far as your WiFi turning off, if you go into WiFi settings, hit the menu button in the top right, then advanced, and change the WiFi sleep policy to always on.
Can't wait to get CM9 on this thing.

I think the lack of a hardware Menu button was a catastrophic failure on HTC's part.
Most apps haven't caught up to the "ICS standards", and so on apps like GoLauncher EX, you have that gawd awful "Menu button bar" at the bottom, covering 1/10th of the screen.
I genuinely don't understand how they could prioritize a Task Manager button over the Menu button... :\ Especially seeing as how leaving the Home button pressed down used to perform the same function on the old Evo...

I agree it is very annoying but if the evo lte is a huge success (if sprint every gets the ball rolling) then app devs will be more likely to update to ics standards. If every phone just included a menu button (sIII for example) then they would have no reason to care and update it.

the weight is a little light for me but i do have a 9 inch span on my hands lol. this also doesnt make the backj button a problem.. doesnt hurt i have double jointed thumbs either lol. I find myself using the multi task button a lot.. the biggest problem im having getting used to is using the menu bar button instead of hitting home button on the phone
Eventually most if not all apps will be updated to play nice with ICS and include the menu button onscreen. They officially have 2 years starting now.

I think my biggest gripe right now is the font scaling. For things like the desktop widgets 4x4 takes the entire HUGE screen. I should be able to see enough of my daily calendar as well as something else without taking the entire screen....this is a 720p display after all.
I want a half-screen ubersocial widget where I can actually see 4 or so tweets

The buttons are super easy to press... I find it's really awkward when I'm holding the device and trying to text or something (especially with one hand) I almost always push some of the buttons on accident... maybe I just need time to adjust.
I also REALLY wish the power charging port was on the bottom of the device. I *hate* having it on the side, makes no sense.

I actually love the charging port on the side. The port on the bottom always got in the way when usuing a phone in landscape. The charging port is completely out of the way now, landscape or not.
