There can be some problems with the battery connection. Try inserting a piece of paper to make the contact tighter.

XDA's Battery power level : Unknown!!

Oke, ik have experienced this problem since i have bought my XDA.
The problem: When u want to see your level of battery, it says;
"Battery power level remaining: Uknown"
This also happens when i just unplugged my XDA from the battery loader!.
When u get this signal, your XDA is starting to work very very slow. And your telephone function automatically shuts itself off!
You can try to reset and har reset for like a thousand times. It don't work
The only method is to plug in on your battery loader again.
I have also checked my remaining memory and the programs that are still running. The memory is oke, and i have shut al the running programs.
Is there anything that can be done to shop this mayhem!
Will this problem be solved with a new ROM upgrade?
The supplied battery level meter is lacking to say the least. I would recomend "Spb GPRS Monitor 1.7" which not only does the job but also monitors your data useage.

Use the following free tool to show your battery status on the today screen;

Sorry I made a mistake, I will try again:
I have the same problem, but it happens only, when my battery status is below 80 %:
When I switch off my telephone via Display touch, it works. When I then want to switch it on, it doesn't work and my XDA is very very slow and the battery status is "unknown", too.
After connection with the charger and switching on the telephone I notice this:
First the LED ist yellow, this is ok. When I swicht on the telephone, the LED is red for a short time (battery status very low), then it doesn't blink, then it is yellow again and my telephone is on.
For two time I couldn't even switch on the whole xda, only a soft reset worked.
I contacted the German O2 hotline an they said, I should upgrade to ROM-version 3.14.16 GER and Radio version 4.08. I did it, but this didn't solve my problem! I gues there is a hardware defect with the battery and I hove to contact the German O2 hotline again.
If you have mor informations please write a mail to [email protected]. When I get a solution I will write again.
Thank you
Uli Dierkes
In Addition to my previous mail I heard this problem will only occur with non-O2-SIM-Cards, is that right?
I have a vodafone-sim-card. A test with a SIM-Card von O2 in a German O2-Shop didn't show these problems.
Uli
SIM Card.
I think I know of the problem you are refering too. Sometimes you lose your signal and then the only way to get it back is to plug it into the cradle? When this happens the battery indicated also shows as unknown.
It is definatly a SIM card problem. Newer SIM cards work fine. Try and get a newer card from your phone company - they will probably charge you for it :-/

I have the same problem as above. I already upgraded from radio version from 4.16 to 4.17. BUt the same problem. I am using a new SIM card with a 64k provided by Smart Philiipines.
Has somebody out there solve this problem?

Please help! Himalaya won’t turn on

I have upgraded my Himalaya to 1.50g and yesterday forgot to charge it and now it won’t turn on even I’ve put it in the cradle for 2 hours now. How can I fix it and prevent it from happening again? It didn’t happen to me before upgrading to WM0.5
tried reset both the normal reset and the special 2005 hardreset ?
Yes, I’ve try both. But no sign came. Only the red light gets on when I put it in cradle
Put the battery off and place it on the battery slot behind the cradle..
if still the same.. reply ASAP!
I’ve charged the battery since got your advice but it did not help also
I can not see any sign that my Himalaya is alive but the red light when connected with the power supply. With the power I’ve tried to come to bootloader mode but without success. It didn’t respond any more
I’ve just managed to wake it up one time. It comes as from hardreset. The battery indicator showed backup battery 100%, main battery 34%, but it last only about 5 minutes then come off again and the red light come back
sounds like a hardware issue with the battery
or a very very naugthy unstd sim card
Now it’s working again!
Thanks lot! I have cleaned it from inside out let the battery full charged for 1 night, managed to hardreset it, reinstalled the rom and now it’s working again

have you try to charge it
put power on it maybe your ineternal batery is empty
put it with a power charge then press power buton leave 5 to 10 minutes later go check if the orange light is lit
try that
same thing happened to my old ipaq h5550. i left it for 4 days without battery and it just wouldn't turn on anymore. but try this cause this somehow work for me. remove your battery then plug it in while pressing the reset button almost the same time you plug in your battery. if that doesn't work just leave ur unit plug in to the charger for a time then repeat the same procedure.
goodluck.
Is your i-mate still dead??

sorry, mate. That's how Pocket PCs behave. I remember my first time when I rode the airplane, and my HTC Himalaya was my first PDA Phone. I was really embarrassed, because I didn't even know how to turn off the phone then.
Now, why was it that way, because pocket PCs started with non-persistent storage memory. which means, all data will be gone when you remove the battery or drain the battery (this is more dorky). It wasn't until windows mobile 5 came out that persistent storage was introduced, and up to now, a system shutdown is still not introduced.
For the atom: I'm surprised why you would crash the system, when in fact, the atom will reboot once you re-insert the battery. You just turn-off (hibernate) the device prior to battery removal.
thanks jiggs
so in a PPC, taking out the battery while in hybernatation is OFFICIAL !!! actually this is my 1st experience with PPC & things r so different
& as u say, since atom is WM5, i dont loose ANY data even if i keep the fone without battery for 2days or forever? this is so cool !!! so ppc is now as reliable as symbian
thanks to every1 who @least read this post... for yr intention to help appreciate
atom shut down
atom doesn't have hardware system to turn off the phone but htc wizard have the hardware system to turn off the phone so its so popullar in pocket pc catageory.

[Solved] Problem with Kumara WM 6.1 last present

Recently i used kumara for the last 2 weeks and is good and found no problem..
and yesterday i found battery issues, the indicator said it fully charged and suddenly it become exhausted and drop..
So i charge it until full, after about 2 hours it drops again after playing for mp3 and the weird is it back to full bar after a few minute..
last night i soft reset my atom and problem exist (i can't boot to my device) just a blink after i power up my device, but if i enter bootloader is fine..so maybe is the room so i flash it again with another room..after a succesfull (able to boot and normal) i charge it...and yet again the battery wont fully charge, the orange indicator is light up but is gone after a few hour (i guess that was a succesfull charge but is not, drop after a few minute)...
Guys help me...is it my battery or anything else...tks
sorry for my bad english....

you can may be try to hard reset,
or
--TRY IT WITH YOUR OWN RISK--
Open the housing, then use alcohol to clean the battery connector and charger plug-in

thanks for reporting, you should report it inside my thread,.
okay,. i would say that it was your battery that "drop",.
1st. just check your battery ability, its ampere, its last voltage, etc
2nd.
buy a new battery if it was your battery,.
entering bootloader, doesnt need much power, it still can, even your device have been shutted down because of empty battery,.
and, i know what do you mean by "blink" and cant turn on, yes that happen when you have your battery exhausted, until your device is shutted down,.
its all okay, dont worry,. it caused by there is not enough battery to power on the device,. all you need to do, just plug the charger in, and wait about 5 minutes, and your device will be back to normal,.
Thanks - Terimakasih
Gud Luck - Semoga berhasil
Regards - Salam
