How to Reflash back to O2 ROM??
Had using this ROM (PDAVIET ROM WM6.1 Manilla 2D (Core 20924) by TranMinhMan) for a week, and wish to flash back to original rom (o2 ROM)
How to flash back?
According to older post that say delete the 1st 12byte using Hex Editor from Original ROM (Flash.DIO). but it doesn't work.
Any expert to help me?
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=441452&page=6
I'm not an expert at all, but works flashing via pc in original home site without no more steps, just flashing over. I did it and it worked for my Atom Life a few time ago.
you need to find the original ROM for MWG Atom Life, flash it.
Thank you for the reply.
i had try to direct flash the official ROM with PC, but shows Country error or Customer ID error (something like that). and refer the edit the hex key (delete the 1st 12 byte) method, i still no hope on that (maybe im not expert on that?).... So, any idea still can solve my problem?
Now still stuck at the PDAVIET ROM.
Well, you have to choose a ROM for your own country. If you have an O2 Atom, then do not download the MWG ROM and vice versa. If you bought your phone from a different country then check which ROM did it originally ship with. Country would be specified in the phone box cover.

Earlier, I installed unofficial T-Mobile 1.6 rom on my i-mate. I just recenlty tried installing the official i-mate update and there is a country code. I don't have the old rom to revert to. Can anyone help. I know I would have to at the least get a copy of the old rom and then install it into the i-mate. Again, since I don't have a backup of the old one, I would need info on how to get one first.
The T-Mobile unofficial one works fine. I just wanted to go back to always on gprs etc. that the i-mate update has. If not, I guess I will have to wait until the rom kitchen is up and running for this unit.

I think you better try it using bootloader way, because t-mobile protect it's update, it happen in XDAI if you update your XDA to 4.16 and you want to go back to 4.11 then you have to update it using bootloader to be able to go back from the previous one 4.11 8) hope this help you...opps correction please there is no bootloader on XDA II, there is bootloader but in different way, I think if you copy your old nbf to sd using xdatools and go to bootloader by using power+anydirection+ reset it will ask to download the nbf to you device... hmmm if this doesn't work you have to look for another way.
T-Mobile 1.60 BUGGY Rom - Want to go back to iMate ROM
Folks,
I'm in the same position - Can someone please outline the success they've had going back from the T-Mobile 1.60 ROM to Imate ROM 1.5283??
Any thoughts would be great... (I'm guessing the boot loader using an SD card may work but would love to hear of any new tricks that people have learned on this
Cheers
Andy
I'll try to help.
Where can the ROM be downloaded, so I can have a look at it.

T-Mobile Back to iMate ROM
Thanks
I've uploaded the new iMate ROM image to:
http://www.c1au.com/iMatePDAROMS/ruu15283.zip
The somewhat flakey T-Mobile 1.6.006 ROM (which I'm trying to get away from is at
http://www.c1au.com/iMatePDAROMS/TMobile160.zip
Of course, with the different operator / country codes, it's not just a matter of running the .EXE - It'll need to involve the boot loader of a little hex editing of the header, I'm guessing (just guessing?!)
The new iMate ROM is meant to be the best bet around at the moment and my device is an iMate in the first place. The only reason why I installed the T-Mobile one was to get the Bluetooth GPS fix (which works well) - BUT so many other things aren't as stable!!
The new iMate ROM is meant to have the BT GPS fix as well.
Any help, much appreciated!
Cheers
Andy

That's correct, you need to mod it.
I'll make a procedure for it.

THANKS!
You're a champion!
Thanks very much..
It sounds like there's a few people that'll thank you!
The other posts on the subject aren't too clear at this point - So it'll be great to clear up the issue for the iMate / XDA II.
All the best - Have a great weekend.

OK, made some time to create a batch file to upgrade.
Works only for upgrade from T-Mobile 1.60.06 NL to I-mate 1.53.82.
1. Download the ROM image ruu15283.zip from the site in this posting
2. Unzip the file with Winzip
3. You now get a file called ruu15283wwwe_cdl.exe
3. Extract this file with Winzip to a new folder
4. Extract the attached file to the same folder
5. Start the conversion and upgrade by double-clicking convert.bat
Since I'm out till Sunday, I can't check my mail to respond to problems.
Enjoy!
Can the first person brave enough to try this please confirm success.
IT WORKS!!
Jes - You're a scholar and a gentleman!!
And a *(&(&( good programmer
IT WORKED!
Thanks a million!
Let me know how to send you virtual beers or whatever
(or if you need a hand with anything - Please let me know!)

Nah, I'm not a good programmer, I just know how to write bachfiles and how to combine things to get the disered result.
Thanks has to go to Isme. He knows a lot about the internal working of the XDA II, the ROMS and the bootloader process.
He wrote the great tool used to change the file headers, so you can update your machine with a ROM of a different brand.
He's a good programmer!
If somebody needs a mod to upgrade from another ROM version, please let me know.
And if you want to do something back, please donate to the people who keep this nice forum up and running.
It worked. For those who want to get back onto the official path from unofficial t-mobile this is an automated way to do it. Thanks...Jon
Backing Up XDA2 ROM+CE
I'm a new XDA2 iMate user, want to back up my ROM+CE before I screw things up. I did this on my XDA1 (power + software reset, then press contact button I think). Anyway, I always had my ROM+CE backed up to a 64M SD card ... just in case.
I've searched these forums for such a procedure for XDA2 ... no luck.
What is the process, if any, to backup the XDA2's ROM+CE image to SD card?
Appreciate any help,
Craig
I think it's possible with the xda2dmp tool, but you better ask Itsme, he wrote it.
You can find it on this site: http://www.xs4all.nl/~itsme/projects/xda/xda-ii.html

Difference between i-mate 1.52.00WWE ROM and i-mate 1.53.82
Can anybody outline the differences between the 1.52.00 and the 1.53.82 official i-mate ROMs?
I'm trying to ascertain whether I have sufficient incentive to upgrade (given the "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" mentality I subscribe to in my old age!).
Sufficient incentive might be;
 Faster GPRS
 Improved battery life
 Improved all-round performance.
Thanks guys.

Just upgraded to i-mate from much-loved XDA!

I used the german AKU3.3 ROM and it showed 'Upgrade from V4.0.0.0 to V3.3.0.0'.
Maybe you have used an old AKU2.x ROM to downgrade?
And... try downgrading in bootloader mode (hold tape button while soft-reset until colored bars are shown, but you need different active-sync drivers for bootloader mode)
downgade problem
I succed to downdrade to germab t-mobile rom but i need a wwe rom ,i'm not familiar with german language, and the uk roms just don,t work .update error.
Once you upgraded to AKU 3.3 you cant go back to AKU2. The only thing that could help is flashing the prophet rom but it can be dangerous. Search the prophet section if you want to do it.
Hi vlodeck
I upgraded already to aku3, but i would like to upgrade to wm6
do you know a good way to do so ?
downgrading to aku2 does not work - as you said!

hmm ... didn´t find a description what to do, but tried to downgrade back to orginal aku2 in bootloader mode:

How to downgrade 38221_382116_026921_TMO_UK_WWE_Ship
(SPL 3.08.0001) back to orginal 1120223_11202110_11220_T-MobileUK_Ship ?
I have installed the PV_AL_OS_5.2.19701_V6.1.0.7_3G_by_Medkid rom on my MWG atom life, which was new from expansys with wm6 already on it.
Before I did this I used grab_it_64_143.exe to make what I assumed was a back up of the original rom. This left me with a 64MB file called 'dump.bin'
Is this a back up of my original rom and can it be restored??
Thanks for any help
Original rom
Hi there,
I'm not sure wether it is your original rom, but if you want to revert to the original rom, download the program from the MWG site and run the program, first of all it will state a connection error. The run it again and it then should connect and revert your rom to the original o2 rom.
If not there are plenty of posts that will tell you, you just have to thoroughly search.
Hope this helps
The dump.bin was made using the guide on this page
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=ATOM_SD_DUMP
But i can seem to open it with any of the tools I have tried
btw, before I loaded the 3g rom 6.1.0.7 my info was
Model: Atom Life WM6
ExtRom: EX0102
Hardware: V7
Radio: AL1_KLNC2340_080121_RS001
ROM: 200800201B2WWE
Is some of this newer than the rom i loaded???
Hi, download the new/same rom from mwg site here
http://www.mwg.com/downloads/1MWG_Atom_Life_WM6_ROM_WWE_020108_B2_DS.zip
ExtROM : EX0102
Radio : AL1-KLNC-2340_080121-RS001

Hi guys i got an atom life from Hong Kong but weirdly, the ROM is 20070326B1ARA. How can i get it to windows mobile 6 ? I tried the roms on see02.com but there were all recognized by the machine as being wrong.
So far i tried the Hong Kong Rom, Singapore, Middle_East (should be this isn't it?). All of them would not work. Please help. Thanks
Firstly, do you want to just upgrade the ROM without the Radio or you want the whole package updated to WM6?
Is there anyway to up ROM + Radio only?
@bravedoan
yes..but a bit tedious. your options:
1) write your own DSUU application with your own ROM.
2) If you want a different ROM and a different radio. then first use the DSUU upgrade utility of a original ROM. Then falsh you ROM using SD card.

I didn't hv correct pass.32 to upgrade by DSUU...that's why I'm looking for the way to upgrade OS ROM + ExROM + Radio ROM by SD, at this moment, I can only upgrade OS ROM + ExROM by SD. Can u teach me what's the Radio Rom file of Atom Life? Or how can I get the correct pass.32 to upgrade ROM by DSUU?
nevermind..
Hi guys, it's been a looong while since I've visited here. Trying to sell my Atom Life here in Taiwan but my Atom Life is English OS.
I've tried downloading the CHT OS from seeo2.com but the CID is probably wrong so it won't let me restore to it. Back in the days of my Cingular 8125 (was that it? the dopod 838) I remember running some tools to unlock the CID but I'm not sure what to do now on the Atom life. I did some searching and reading and see some things about extracting eboot file but I really can't find any.
Can anyone point me in the right directions? Just want to restore this to O2's WM6 and sell this to my friend.
Thank you!

I figured out what to do. I ran the firmware update for the language my device currently is, found the pass.32 in the windows\temp directory, copied it out. quit the installer, ran the firmware installer of the language I want, replaced the pass.32 with the one I backed up earlier. And viola!
