Combine rom and radio into a single flash. - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

Normally I can find stuff I am looking for by searching, so let me start off by saying I did search, but had no luck.
What if I want to combine a radio and rom into a single NBH file. i.e. like the carriers do with their rom updates. Is there a tool that will combine them?
Also is there any way go to get it to include the SPL too? I would assume not since you can't flash the radio or rom until the SPL has been updated.
But if I could combine the radio and rom into a single flash, it would save me a little work when I update a new phone.
If anyone knows of a tool, I would appreciate it. I'm sure DCD knew the answer, to bad GC banned him......
BTC

There is a NBH builder for the titan and you can build the NB files into an NBH file such as the radio, splash screens, and a couple other things.
Why the hell did DCD get banned?

go on the Full ROMs list and find out which full ROM has your Radio on it.
download it, extract the NBH and separate it; rebuild it into an NBH with all the components your original was comprised of, flash it and you're done.
i have seperated the NBh files and im stuck there im not sure how im supposed to rebuild it. a little more direction please

um dont make this so hard... just go to www.htcamerica.net and download the official shipped rom and flash it to your phone before shipping it back!
edit
here is the exact link http://www.htcamerica.net/support/docs/ruu_hermes_1.34.502.1_1.16.00.00_wwe_cws_ship.exe
i also wanted to add that this will downgrade your radio in the process as well as give it the official shipped rom!
thank u all for the help. Just out of curiousity what is the difference in the one from HTC and the one on this site??

well if thats the case it didnt downgrade the 1.34 radio. will try to flash it again.
i tried the official release from HTC and that does the same thing. new rom same radio. still at 1.35
i have loaded nbhgen onto my computer but im not sure how to run it or how to compose the radio in the format it needs to be in. i have searched the forum but there arent any clear instructions on how to run nbhgen and then put everything back together

My Downgrade plan. Looking for input from the pros

What I have now:
OS: Black 2.0 Cingular edition
Boot Loader: 1.01
Radio BL: 108
Radio: 1.38.10
what I want:
OS: WM 5 from the 1.34 cingular release
Boot Loader: Loader from the 1.34 cingular release
Radio BL: AFAIK you can't downgrade these so staying at 108
Radio: 1.16.00.00
How I plan to get there:
take the .nbh form the 1.34 cingular package and use RUU to flash the device.
Questions and concersion:
I'm looking for input on possible incompatabilities and hang-ups with varios BL versions and what not.
comments / feedback on my plan would be greatly appreciated and I will build a monument in your name if you help .
This has been covered before...
But, since you're well on your way to brick-ville, I'll buy your phone off you for, say, $100? It'll be worth less after you brick it...
Read up on the W*I*K*I and Oli's 1.40.Olipro bootloader before you do something dumb.
I did read it.
And thats the plan I came up with.
I was looking more for a confirmation.
The wiki has a ton of great info but its laid out reall crappy and not very cohesive. So I figured I'd post what I've came up with after reading it to see if I missed something. And from there maybe get more specific input on where the issues/dependencies are..... or maybe not.

From your plan it is obvious that, even IF you read the wiki, you didn't understand it. Re-read the THREADS about 1.40 SPL and also search for MRVANX and read his TUTORIALS...

I really appreciate the feedback. At least you're letting me know my plan wont work. Which will prevent me from trying it. But it would be kick ass if you could be more specific about what in the wiki i missed like :
-you can't flash the entire .nbh file cause it will try to replace your boot load and break it.
or
- Re-read the THREADS about 1.40 SPL because *something useful here*
Either way I'm still thankful cause I know my plan is a **** sandwich.
Very good.. You're getting there! It's nice to see someone read some directions..
You have it mostly right.. Flash the HardSPLv6 first. Then, grab the .nbh from the cingular rom and combine it with CustomRUU. Choose 'Autodetect' (we're looking for a hard-spl flash)..
Then, once that's done, you'll have the right radio, OS, splash, etc.. The only thing left would be to down-grade the bootloader, which I would advise against.. But, you can do it.. There is a seperate thread on HOW to do that, as it isn't just a one-step process.. Search and ye shall find.
Thank MAn!!! That kicks ass.
I need to send my phone back because the radio dies every 5 mintes.
So I want to get it as close to factory as possible.
So after I downgrade the BL i won't be doing anymore flashing to that phone.
Sometimes when I soft reset the phone is says "No GSM" even when sim is there. Soft reset it again and the radio is detected.
Very irritating.
Check out:

Flash HardSPL-1.40
Create NBH containing your provider's 2xSplashScreen + ExtROM + OS & flash it
Flash 1.16 radio
Flash-HardSPL-1.10
Flash your original IPL & SPL versions.
F-ya! That last part about down grading the BL is the part I was having trouble pinning down.
One last question:
Can I use the cingular NBH or will it try to flash the RBL and crash because you can't down grade the RBL
the the new mrvanx page is dope. found the donwgrade guide.
Bricked using this method

Pof,
I did it this way but after flashing the radio rom I get no GSM and then I'm stuck in the Windows Mobile Screen.
I have looked in the Wiki but how can I actually unbrick?
My SPL is still 1.40 Oli. But I can't get activesync to work.
Should I flash the new radio via SD card or any other way (mtty?)
I would be very gratefull for any help,

Any suggestions?
Or is there a way to bypass this? I have IPL 1.01 and SPL 1.40 Olipro.

What is going wrong?
@hellejoep: close all programs including mtty before u run ruuwraper. Make sure you're using the latest version (v4.2) and activesync is not enabled.

@LegolasTheElf,
This was great example on how to get people to read the wiki. I like your approach and I will try to use it in the future.

Need to take a radio out of a ROM

My radio bootloader is corrupt. If i flash a WM5 Rom with a radio, it gets to 12% and hangs, but i cant send it back with a WM6 Rom.
So how do i extract the radio out of a WM5 T-mob rom, so i can then flash it without the radio?
If i take out the radio with NBHextract, do i also remove the IPL? Can i just take nb's out and use nbhgen to recompile and flash? Doesnt need to add up to a certain size?
You may find THIS THREAD useful then. Download link in the last post. If you do not know how to use it from looking at it, read the wiki.
The thing you muswt know is that the radio MUST be an nbh file to flash. From there, you need to figure it out by reading so that you understand what you are doing.
Good luck.
Back to a WM5 Rom with t-mob splash screens. Just about to take my bootloader back to 1.06 and then it should be good to go. Thanks Todd.
Radio success?
Out of the blue my GSM stopped working...after doing enough research and loading of ROMs I found out that I can not install a radio rom & when I tried using the combo WM6 w/radio 1.48, i froze at 12% which I bet money is where the Radio ROM comes in!
So I'm wondering if you had success with NBHExtraxt. I'm gonna catch some sleep but will work on this soon! I'm excited to know that I've narrowed it down to the Radio ROM...now to get the HERMES 200 to accept an NBH will be my new challenge!
Any advice you can give is MORE than welcomed!
Cheers & Happy Holidays

Need either the Qwest 1.39 radio or assistance with Data and IOTA issues

Hello all, i have Qwest service
i recently attempted a Rom upgrade to dcd 3.0.1.
I unlocked with olipro 2.40
then i ran the sprint 3.35 rom upgrade
and lastly tried to load dcd's Rom
all went fine (thanks to the tireless efforts of xda and ppc geeks contributors) until i tried to load dcd's rom.
my download of dcd 3.0.1 was corrupt ( i have since figured out that if you improperly input the download letters, your download will be corrupted without letting you know- always verify the file size when complete)
Because of this i ended up letting the sprint customizations run.
I have since made the change from the sprint rom 3.25 to dcd's rom but apparently, the sprint customizations, that i let run have hosed my data ability.
searching leads me to believe the best/easiest way to fix my data problem- (no data at all) is to relock my phone and load the original radio and rom
thanks to Bunvilla at PPCGeeks, i have the rom (2.13) but no one seems to have the radio (1.39)
any assistance would be appreciated- all of us Qwest subscribers (which piggy backs on Sprints network) are having a very difficult time finding any help for our phones
Does anyone have a copy of the radio or know where to find one?
Does anyone know how to make a copy of the radio and/or rom from a non-upgraded phone?
Does anyone have any other ideas how to get my data working again?
I have searched and read nearly every post on both xda and ppc site, so thanks in advance to anyone who can assist me/us

so you know this is an issue it seems with all new roms with the new sprint radio. i don't have any Data connection on mine as of this point and even after re locking and unlocking again (5 times) i still don't have data. i game from 2.40 oli , Nexvison 2.3.1.02. VZW and 3.27 Radio. i get authentication problems when trying to access the National Data Network. "user name and password incorrect.
you do need to go back to a stock rom and compatible radio to get your data working before attempting the upgrade again.
however, this doesnt have to be radio 1.39.
either relock or change to olipro-1.20, flash your original stock rom, and flash radio 2.17. then you should be able to get your data working, although it may take a call to qwest.
i saw iota mentioned in the topic but not the post... qwest does not include IOTA in their ROM. sprint IOTA will only work for sprint.
Thanks for the reply DCD- and thanks again for all your hard work.
You mentioned to downgrade to my original ROM and load the compatible RADIO from 2.17.
-Does this mean the complete sprint RADIO and ROM 2.17 or just the RADIO portion?
- if it's just the radio portion, where would i find that ( i have searched endlessly, hence the delay in posting a reply) ?
-if it is the complete radio and ROM, am i supposed to flash my oem ROM 1st or flash it after the 2.17 radio and ROM (like we do to upgrade thru 3.35 to DCD 3.0.1) ?
- good to know qwest doesn't use IOTA, although i am curious what IOTA actually is
Obviously, anyone's help here is appreciated
well i might be able to come to your rescue again. I believe if u can load a ROM that lets u have access to the extrom, (read and write to it) i have the original content that came in the extrom for qwest. the sprint upgrade rewrites over the qwest stuff and puts in the sprint stuff. i know i have the contents of the extrom for qwest but im gonna look here in my computer because i just might have the iota for qwest. otherwise i dont know why im hanging on to this 1 IOTA in my "qwest phone folder"
ill post the contents in a second post have to upload to rapidshare
ok i hope these work for u;
http://rapidshare.com/files/104457472/QWEST_2.13_extrom.rar
http://rapidshare.com/files/104457828/qwest_IOTA.rar
u can use 1.47 radio instead of 1.39, it doesnt matter which radio u use between the 2, 1.47 is better anyways.
u just have to load a rom that allows u to unhide and write to the extrom/ dcd 3.01 and his other version can be done but u have to know how to manipulate it, otherwise DCD roms have the extrom hidden and he removed some reg entries
and stuff so u probably want to use no2chem rom or something/ then dump the qwest2.13 extrom into the extrom and see what happens/ but this is what was in my qwest rom extrom before i cleared it.
good luck
Well , i'm not exactly sure what to do with this information you have given me, but i will root around these forums so more and see if i can't make sense of it.
unless someone else decides to chime in
thanks again, Bunvilla
i came home for lunch and my buddy just bought a qwest mogul/ i loaded the unlocker 240 / next and it is where i think u went wrong is that u need to load the radio 3.35 FIRST then the rom/ cause i next loaded radio 3.35 and then a DCD custom 3.01 Rom with a whoppin 29mbs of memory free after installation/
i was done in 30min/ I did however have to get the SPC code to get into the NAM settings because it changed his MIN to something else/ it took 5min to get spc code and then a few min to correctly add his MIN and the right security format for the data connection/ everything went smooth and i made back to work with almost 10 min left on my lunch hour/
by the way i would get a message saying that" the account was not authorized to call that number" and then quote off some code/ but when i changed the NAM settings back it was good to go

[Q] Reverting to factory default consultation needed pls?

Due to display flickering issue which is worse and worse from day to day. I decided to restore stock rom for my T-Mobile MDA Vario IV to make a complain.
My device is Security Unlocked, with different Radio and ROM so i would like to know if my steps for reverting is ok. I do not want to make my device bricked!!
I have EXE file with ROM from T-Mobile www which includes all like SPL, RADIO, ROM etc.
So my conclusion what i have read is that i have to:
1) restore stock Radio
2) remove security lock
3) remove Hard-SPL
4) flash stock ROM from EXE file i have already downloaded. It will overwrite 1.90 SPL to 1.69 which was my default and overwrite ROM too.
Can anyone experienced with this stuff tell me if i am right? thank a lot.
With the steps you have listed you will be good to go. Just follow your steps and you are good.

I am not a noob i have read this many times, so i know what is the "official" routine. But this (official) routine was, i think made, for people who had no choice (as me with original exe) and they had to dump their ROM first, and than reconstruct part by part. And because the dumped ROM will never be CID safe, they had this tutorial 1. Radio, 2. OS, 3. SPL and it rally does make sense for me.
But i am lucky, because my operator (T-Mobile) shipped the device with EXE, which contains all the stuff (Radio, SPL, OS, RUU) and it is directly for my CID. So that is why i think my tutorial in the first post will work. And i think it should work though if i only remove Security unlock and Hard-SPL. Because it will overwrite all partitions in device even restored Radio, OS etc.
So am i right ?
your right and to save you step dont worry bout radio removal since its in the stock rom pack like u said just load the 1.90 for warrenty in the hard spl thread and relock your phone as an extra precation(some carriers care some dont) the run the exe and ure golden

Dear not a noob,
You asked a question, and you were given the "official" routine. If you knew the "official" routine, and you were going to do it your way anyway, it kinda makes your question unnecessary. I remind you that you are not the only person who reads these forums. In fact more than a hundred have read this thread. Some of these people "noobs" or not may want to know the "official" routine.
I personally don't care what you do or where you put your phone. But if anyone reading this thread follows the official routine they will not have any problems.
I understand why people don't like answering questions in these forums. No good deed etc etc......

Dear Ray,
you did not understand my question. That is all that i can say about it. I know about official routine to restoring stock defaults, but i was asking if my routine could lead me to same result. Because as from what i have learned in this forum this routine should lead me to the same result more easier way because i have RUU with stock ROM direct for my CID.
Your way i have to first extract nbh image from exe. Second i have to extract each nb from nbh. Third i have to make nbh from each nb, radio is not necessary, because it is already here. And for fourth my SPL is 1.69.0000 which is different from SPL contained in the Hard-SPL removing pack and it does not work for me just to replace the SPLs. And until now i did not find out why. Someone few months ago told me that i can use the SPL from Hard-SPL removing pack (1.90.0000 i think) and then overwrite it with my stock ROM package, which will restore my stock SPL and Radio, OS again as well. So official routine works for those who had to dump their ROM to backup their stock ROM, those who were not as lucky as me to have stock ROM with RUU for their CID. This procedure, i personaly think is OK, is not covered here on the forum, and that is why i was aking for blessing from someone more involved in this problmes...is it ok now?
PS: anything i can flash after removing Security Lock and Hard-SPL is my stock ROM and that is what i have. So it should work if there are not some any other things which i have missed somewhere!
Tom
bah dont worry bout them crackheads say i can speak from experience that your way work since thats exactly what i did last week only att exe pack and it did overite the 1.90 stock spl, changed to 1.95 in my case, like u say along with the radio and os. only diferance is i never security unlocked my phone sincei was happy with the raphel radios . now im happy with my new(well refurblished ) fuze.
p.s. i had defective screen too incase you were wondering
Everybody play nice
Ok, that being said, since you have the "official" exe from your Carrier, all you really have to do is:
Run the .exe from your Carrier - this will replace the stock Radio, ROM, and boot splash.
Install the warranty stock SPL 1.90 from the Hard-SPL thread (using the Hard-SPL RUU, of course).
Re-run the .exe from your Carrier, which will overwrite the 1.90 SPL with the stock version.
Other methods will likely work too, but IMHO, that's the easiest .

Positive. That's actually how I used to "flash to stock" in between custom ROM flashes.
