tv-out? - Touch HD Accessories

Some places have tv-out as one of the specs. Looked around to see that there is only a wire for tv-out for the touch pro. Can i use this wire for tv-out on the HD? Has anyone tried it?

No TV out on the HD. Also, no audio out on the HD ExtUSB, only on the 3.5mm. Not even if the vendor lists it for Touch HD compatible, video and audio will not work.

Compatible headset with remote control?

Hello!
Can anyone here suggest me some headset (NOT Bluetooth) with remote control, which is compatible with HD? Unfortunately RC E100 is not compatible, it is just only for diamond and touch pro

Unfortunately, none exists (and most probably none will exist, unless it will use both the audio and the extUSB jacks). The 3.5mm jack in fact seems to be a disadvantage.
Let's hope I'm wrong and the 3.5mm jack is capable of transmitting data and powering the remote, but I wouldn't bet on this.
Well, on the headphones that come with the HD, there are 2 buttons with which you can do commands, maybe thats what he means.
He is talking specifically about RC E100.
Which 2 buttons are you talking about? I have only one, which allows to hang up/pick up or dial last number. This is standard for most phones, although usually there's also a volume control.
I'm talking about a remote control as headset, which has play/pause button as well. Yeah, rc e100 was the best for diamond & pro. I have a vnmoda headset sppecially iphone, but it compatible with hd. I mean i can recieve calls, but can not play/pause music.
Why is the RC E100 not compatible with the HD? Are there specific Drivers in the Diamond ROM? The HD also has a ExtUSB Port.... so it should work. Or may I be wrong?
Just stumbled upon this thread and darnnnn.
The ultimate (and elemental) accessoiry for the HD has got to be a remote control headset.
I decided to buy the RC E100 from a dutch website.
It clearly states that the accessoiry is tested with and proven to function with the Touch HD.
I tried connecting it and obviously the info on the site is wrong.
Utterly disappointed I would like to know where I can find a statement saying it isn't compatible.
Can anyone help me with that?
Yeah, i have managed to try the rc e100 with my HD, and it says not compatible device and remove from usb port. I don't understand either

There is audio in the extUSB jack on HD
excuse my ignorance, and i'm anticipating the tut tut noises from everyone, but would the iPhone or iPhone compatible earphones work? I have seen plenty of iPhone compatible earphones with call and music controls advertised. I assumed they would work with the HD but I'm no expert.
guidance welcome ;-)

You will be able to talk, probably pick/hang up the call, but the music controls most probably won't work.

I have V-moda headset, which basically is for IPhone 3G. It it works with HD, I mean you can reaceive calls, or start voice dial,BUT YOU CAN NOT play/pause the music unfortunately. It worked on iphone, but here on HD doesn't
So the only chance to control music on the HD (without touching the HD) is to buy A2DP earphones?
Hope HTC has but a datastream line in their 3.5mm jack!!!!
Would really be a little disappointment if it wouldnt be possible!
Btw. are there good A2DP earphones you can recommend?

You'd better prepare for a disappointment.
I haven't used A2DP on HD, but people report that it stutters with some devices at least. In addition to the problem that you need to charge the headphones separately.
I have tried my HD with Sony Ericsson Ds-980 Stereo bluetooth headset, but unfortunately, the music not clear. Sorry i can't explain it exactly, so you hear some noise or something like that and the music sound not too clear and of course eat the energy from HD during you use A2dp
What about using a BT audio dongle to control the HD and using the wired 3.5mm from the HD for the sound?
Ok, so let me get it clear...
HD has 3.5mm jack slot like for example X1 but it's impossible to use it proper way?
Biggest mistake IMO - HTC should have done headphones like SE so we can separate them from microphone and remote and plug what we like instead....
So if I would like to control playback and talks I HAVE TO use bluetooth set?
They should have just left the extUSB functionality.
I have some bluetooth headphones (GEAR4 PG118 BluPhones) and they work perfectly on the HD. A tiny bit of hiss, but sound is very good, very clear. Tried it on music player and coreplayer for movies
- Your HTC device may require a driver for this audio accessory to function correctly. If you experience any problems, then please download the driver from here, once the driver is downloaded, the file name needs to be renamed to zip.
I think HTC did not include the HTC driver for the USB as standard in the rom

How do I show Netflix on tv?

Im running royal ginger which comes with the netflix app and im wondering if there is a way to view what i have on the tv. Pretty much like an HDMI cable without the HDMI port on the phone. Is there an adapter or something? I know there is a cable which goes into the headphone jack but i dont know if it will be able to play the movies on the big screen

I really don't mean to sound like a smartass, but your best bet for Netflix on a TV is a videogame system or blu-ray player that streams Netflix. I just don't think the mobile app is cut out for displaying on another screen. It barely manages to do it on the phone's.

Have you tried dlna, many newer tvs/ps3/xbox360 support it.
Why not just stream it through your laptop via and HDMI cable? That's what I do, works perfect. Or of course you can do what the guy two posts above me said. I just don't think Netflix on our phone is very practical anyways. Eats battery like crazy and heats up the phone when played too long.

Question: Have you ever seen any spec list for our phone mention HDMI out?
the DLNA will only stream content via wifi that is on our SDCard, you cannot stream apps or streaming media.

i know that the MT4G does not have HDMI, but what I am asking is if there is a way to output the screen onto the tv in a similar fashion as an HDMI. On amazon there is a cable that is designed for this using a 3.5mm headphone jack and it has the red/white/yellow plugs. My tv does not have DLNA and I do not own a blu ray player or gaming device. However I was planning on going to movie trading company or a pawn shop or something to see if there is one available. Which are the best blu ray players? if i cant find one for cheap then I will be buying the cable since it is only $9
That cable will not work with this phone. Our 3.5mm audio jack is for AUDIO only, there is no video coming out of that jack.
The 3.5mm to rca is for (mostly older, like more then 2 years) expandable mobile bluray/dvd players. I know because I have one of these mobile devices.
A standard 3.5mm jack is capable of doing three things, but most of them are only capable of 2 (stereo audio), and a few can only do one (mono audio). In our case, 2 channels are for left and right audio and 1 channel is used for mic input.
If you connect this cable to your television, you will most likely be connecting a port on your phone used for an unpowered microphone to a port on your television waiting to accept a standard def signal.
I wouldn't be surprised if most televisions put out a little tiny bit of power over that port just so it can accept the expected analog signal. My assumption is based on taking the unhooked cable and running your finger over it and watching static on the tv. You shouldn't be surprised if you destroy your phone, or at least the microphone input when you use that cable.
Also when shopping for electronics, using the criteria of "best and cheap" is like saying "yeah, man I totally hooked up with this super hot 400 lb chick"
If you want best, get a samsung or sony or phillips. If you want cheap, go insignia or dynex. If you want not so bad, and somewhat cheaper, look at a visio.
Remember, when dealing with electronics, just because it fits doesn't mean you should stick it in the hole. This might also be good advice when dealing with fat chicks.

You cannot DLNA stream NetFlix with our phones. It's [as of right now] impossible. Netlfix doesn't support it, and Twonky doesn't support it. Nor do we have any output of video, the USB jack and the headphone jack do not support HDMI or RCA output as of right now.
If you are wanting a cheap way to watch netflix you can either get a Roku Box, for like 75-80 USD or you can buy a ~125.00 USD blue ray player.

I have a friend with a Visio Blu-Ray player, it's not horrible, but it's not top notch either. I can tell a difference between my PS3 and his Visio. IT would also depend on the quality of the TV the [OP] is dealing with. If it's a 720p or 480p TV the brand will not matter that much. a 60Mhz 1080i or 1080p LCD/Plasma screen possibly. If they have a 1080p 120Mhz + or LED TV you are exactly right.

The tv I have is an AOC tv that I found at my grandfathers house. Its got 1 HDMI port and its an HD flatscreen but by looking at it it seems to be either low/mid-range quality or one of the first HD tvs. Im not a tv expert but those are the assumtions I think i can make. I dont want a high-end blu ray player because it will be traveling between dorm/home fairly often but I don't want a crappy one either. Thats why I was going to go buy a used one and hopefully get a quality machine for a low price

[Q] Can audio be routed through 3.5mm jack whenusing the MHL adapter?

I've just received the MHL adapter and am excited to be able to use my monitor to display the phone's screen. But my monitor does not have a audio output, so the audio through the HDMI cannot be played. I've rooted and am on the Cognition 1.07 ROM, So is there a hack to route the audio through the 3.5 mm jack when sending the video through the HDMI using the MHL adapter?
Thanks guys,
Did you work out a way to do this? I am thinking of buying an MHL adapter but like you my display does not have sound.
I need to know an answer to this! My monitor doesnt have speakers and theres no way for me to hear the video!
My Dell monitor has 5.1 channel analog 3.5mm sockets at the back for HDMI audio output.
on my SG2 I still can use the audio jack for audio output (headset or just go into any amplifier-audio_in, or any computer etc....) when I use the HDMI cable for TV.
Hey RbbChan what ROM are you using?

Hey how did you get it to work? Which ROM and Kernel?
Same problem for me guys...that's a very unpleasent situation!
It can be solved via software though, I'm pretty sure because there is a lag of about half a second between the audio disappears after I connect the HDMI cable, it can't be hardware only.
Is there a place in this forum when we can ask developers to try and find a fix in their custom ROMs ?
I tried this and it worked (audio through my headphones) but the audio also came out through my TV.
VillianRom 2.42/Ninphetamine Kernel.

Muting the TV ought to do the trick,no?
Thats always a viable option.

Thank you Killer Bee! It works!!!
I know this thread is a couple of months old but I just wanted to say this saved me from buying an unnecessary $100+ HDMI audio breakout. The headphone jack fit the bill since my new monitor doesn't have audio output.
I'm having the same issue as OP (no sound through headphone jack on SGSII while MHL adapter plugged in). From the other posts it seems like using VillianRom 2.42/Ninphetamine Kernel would work?
Would any other roms & kernels work?
Thanks

[Q] RCA out?

I know our phones can do HDMI out through an MHL adapter, which I have and it works great, but I would like to know if they can do RCA out, the yellow, red, and white outputs. I want to hook it up to my car's touchscreen headunit which has those inputs, but obviously no HDMI. Do our phones have this capability using the usb or the 3.5 mm jack, like the original Galaxy S's, that I could use? Thanks.
I don't think so... There's a slight tiny possibility the headphone jack can do tvout, but there are no controls for it in Settings on any GSII - it probably isn't working.

Thanks Entropy. Yea since there isn't anything in the settings I figured it wouldn't work. I am going to try that cable anyway and I will report back.
Let us know if it works...I would love to be able to hook up to my 'older' sets and such with my GSII!
Any updates on this? I'm also interested in getting it to work with RCA composite.
Any help would be appreciated
Well I tried plugging my phone into the tv through a 3.5mm to RCA cable, and nothing. But, I also tried it with my Captivate running ICS and still nothing. My SGSII is on ICS as well, so maybe the function just wasn't built in to the software.
I'd also tried this on KK6 with no luck...
Not related to this phone but the iPod Videos had this option I believe. The Classic took the function out.
Fyi for anyone.

I can confirm that MHL to HDMI to RCA through a converter does work with our phones. But then I stumbled upon this...it looks promising.

MHL->HDMI adapter - is audio stream untouched?

I intend to put an HDMI audio splitter in my car, and to use my phone as a media source (later transitioning to a tablet, but that's down the road). What I want to know is if an MHL to HDMI adapter leaves the audio stream intact and untouched - in other words, no dithering, equalizing, or sampling performed.
Furthermore, I assume the phone will output music through MHL with no issues. Is this the case?
The HDMI stripper I'm looking at is here, for reference: http://www.audioholics.com/reviews/cables/atlona-tech-at-hd570
Any help or knowledge would be appreciated!
I've never seen raw audio come out of the MHL port.
e.g. you can't do AC3 passthrough or anything like that, at least not any time I have tried. So no 5.1 audio

I can't really believe that this issue hasn't been solved.
My setup:
Samsung S4 (i9505)
third party MHL adapter (with USB power) (package says, it is able to transmit a digital surround sound stream)
HDMI to HDMI + optical splitter (verified to be able to output surround sound)
The optical cable connects to my surround-pre-amp, hdmi to the TV.
I was not able to find a combination of android player / settings / cable configuration to get the AC3 or DTS stream through the MHL port. I also cannot find any information on this anywhere.
Any help would be very much appreciated.
