I don't know if you already saw this, but on february is going to be out a new official case from HTC for the HD, it's the Flip Case PO S421
http://www.htcaccessorystore.com/uk/p_htc_item.aspx?i=176954
If you click on the larger photo, you can see more about the case.
One question, how the hell this case prevents from opening itself ??
I managed to score one and it's not too shabby in terms of quality vs price.
There are 2 problems though:
1. No camera hole
2. Difficult to answer phone by one hand
Then again, when it's fully closed it looks quite nice.
The way it secures itself is by using a vertical solid flap-hook-like struct, which sort of press against the hd to keep the flap in place.
I have been using this case for about a week and that hook bends a little bit, now it becomes easier to open, but I'm concerned it may lose it's form which may be difficult to keep the front flap in place.

I thought these cases are not available until end of Feb? Where did you manage to get one (which u have been using for a week...) ???
Can you post some pics with your HD in it.
Is it available for sale now anywhere?
Thanks.
I'm in Taiwan at the moment and it appears that we could get the official case earlier than other regions.
Generally, it is difficult to get the HD here as it has been out of stock for quite some time - may be margins are better overseas?

Yes, it's a pity. By the way, not having a camera hole seems to be a bigger disappointment. What were they thinking?
But for 11 pounds I'll get one for myself anyway... It seems to be much slimmer and lighter than most of the other options (I'm not considering the silicon ones to be real "cases").

I agree. It could be the the original version. Not available in UK yet
hi guys, just a quick update about this case. If you have managed to put protective layer (other than the touch screen), it is likely to peel off on the side where the flip clamps onto the device.
My is starting to show up the wear on the protective layer (as open & closing causes "rubbing effect").
I personally do not like this case for a few reasons:
1) It does not completely cover all paint work. It is still easy to scratch the phone.
2) What do you do when you need to put this GPS on the car holder? Take it out of the case? You're now completely explosed without protection again.
I prefer the silicon case. Withe screen protector in front and the silicoin case covering every other part of the body including volume rocker and power swtich, we only have the ear phone jack, usb port, and stylus area exposed, so the protection is more complete. Also, the whole thing including the soft case is clamped on the car holder. No belt loop. Just put the whole thing in the pocket (without the keys and coins of course).
Received today from mobilefun. This is the best case and cheapest. HTC has taken time to deliver but atleast they have given the best one. HIGHLY RECOMMENDED.

The original case is EXACTLY as pictured at mobilefun's web site. On expansys web site it is written that actual product may be different from the image. The original HTC case for HD now available is actually what is shown on the mobilefun site.
Thanks dr_s and one more question, would the case hold the phone still at a viewing angle when you flip over the top part and lay it on a flat surface... like for watching something on a plane by leaving it on the tray in front of you I mean.
I've found this HTC case for the Touch HD which clips on to my belt.
Have been very happy with it, looks good, is secure and delivery was fast.
See it at http://www.clove.co.uk/viewProduct....category=00394707-5A1A-4D70-98A5-4CD5F1638611
Hi,is it really compatible with the HD ? Normally on HTC 's shop , it's just for the Diamond 2 ...

Sorry for replying late.
Nope, it doesn't hold HD in a viewing position after flipping it open, because the hinge part is soft leather and it is supposed to open fully to the back so one can use it during calls by holding the open cover folded fully back.
Thanks again for the reply dr_s, 10 days for my next plane trip so no problem about the late reply Pity it won't hold it that way but I am still thinking of getting this case and I might be able to get a nice viewing angle by sticking the top part of the case between the seat and tray while the tray closed... I will experiment and report back

I was lucky enough to be greeted by the UPS man today with a FolioGuard prototype. Thanks to the others (jms_uk, it2steve) for their great reviews. They have really done a great job, and I agree with everything that they have said thus far. Therefore, I'll touch briefly on the build, fit and features, then add my thoughts for improvement.

You can see the fit of this case is very good. It appears well made, and the Transformer doesn't slide around during normal use.
Care has been taken not to cover any of the critical buttons/or connections which I appreciate! No need to remove the unit from the case to insert a microSD, or connect HDMI. Likewise the proprietary connector is accessible, as are the power/volume and headphone connector. Also cutouts for the speakers have been integrated. A+
Viewing angles are good, though I would like to see a more shallow angle for desktop typing. More on this later, as I have some ideas for this.
The indents are plenty deep enough to hold the unit upright and stable. As was discussed in another review, if you are familiar with the clip case for the Gtab, these grooves hold the tablet much better.
This is one area where I am a little concerned. If you are carrying the folio case by the edge, the transformer will slide. That said, the flap is designed to stop from falling completely out, but I am worried after a bit of use, this may not be the case.
My advice would be to put some sort of velcro on the flap and the inside of the case which would solve this problem. I'll make the modification and post an update in a few days.
My next complaint, be it minor, was also addressed in another review. The magnets don't hold the case closed very tightly. I'd like to see a little stronger implementation which includes a magnetic strip along the cases' entire length.
As mentioned above, I also really want to see a more shallow typing angle as I use this tablet in meetings when I need to type a quick note or run a terminal session. My initial thought would be to design the front flap so that the very first indent can fold. This would allow one to fold the case in half, while folding up this flap, which rests in the crease on the back of the case. I hope that makes sense, I am going to try and work with the case a bit and see if I can make a modification. Pics will be included with my findings.
All in all this is a GREAT first attempt for an aftermarket case, and I wouldn't hesitate to buy one. The build quality is really good, and it's pretty well thought out.
-J
OK, so I bit the bullet and carefully bent the front flap at the first indent. This is a perfect angle IMO, and I think it should be incorporated into V2. It could be cleaned up with a bit of stitching, and two separate internal front flap pieces.

Thanks for the review.

The integrity of the case is still very good. I don't have any issues with any of the angle's. You can see the crease from the front now, but it really doesn't look that bad. If you are going to do this to your case, my suggestion would be to use or build a break so that you get a really good straight line.
Pics coming.

Excellent review. Thank you!
BTW - Did you ever do the velcro modification? I'd like to know how that came out - if it added too much extra bulk, etc.

Still haven't gotten around to the velcro mod. I was actually thinking to eliminate bulk I would just use a lightweight command strip. That way I can easily remove it if I want to pull out the TF, which would probably be never. Command Strips also makes a velcro that you could use if you wanted a solution that allows you to remove the tablet more often.

A few co-workers have the dock, so we wanted to see if this case fits with the dock. No-Go. The material of the case is too thick to fit inside the clamshell of the dock. So, this case is not dock compatible, even though it has cutouts for the latches.

Thought I'd start up a dedicated thread for this case.
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B00MJXK8VM/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s00?ie=UTF8&psc=1
At an average of under $10 on Amazon, this case is a quarter of the cost of the official case. It adds the protection of a hard cradle that the tablet sits in, which the official case doesn't offer.
Based on the popularity of the case on Amazon, I'd suggest NVidia may lose some sales of the official case to ProCase.
One thing to consider is that this case might interfere with passive cooling as suggested in https://forums.geforce.com/default/topic/767648/shield-tablet/3rd-party-case-/
For that price, I'll drill vent holes in it if necessary. ?
In going to take the risk and have ordered one.
Looks nice, I have a similar case for my Nexus 7 but I don't want the back all covered up. I'm still holding out for a cover that snaps into the bottom of the tablet (like the official cover).
I kinda wish there was a really snug bumper for it with a lip that would cover the harsh bezel edges with rubbery comfort.

Yeah, they really are rather sharp. Not quite sure why they decided to go that way with the design.
I ordered one of these and it just shipped today. I probably won't get it until late next week (US holiday on Monday) but I can take pics and give some basic impressions when I get it if any is interested.

Right, it's winging its way over to me with the shield controller. Should have them in about 3 or 5 days.
Mine arrived yesterday; I got the green one. I very much like the protection provided by the snap-on case and the magnetic cover "latches" nicely in the closed position. Opening the cover does wake the tablet which is also nice.
The cover folds back but does not seem to magnetically "latch" to itself or the rear of the case in either the "keyboard" mode, the "movie" mode, or folded flat against the back of the case. The "keyboard" mode works easily enough as the weight of the tablet holds it in position but the "movie" mode doesn't work well for me but perhaps the cover joints will loosen up a bit and work better over time.
I find the protection aspect (and price) of this cover to be far superior to the nVidia case but the nVidia case works far, far, better as a stand than this one does, at least mine.
<edit> Please see additional comments and retraction in the next post. </edit>
I retract my previous statement regarding the cover not magnetically latching to itself in the "movie" stand mode. There is a magnetic clasp there but you have to fold the cover into the proper geometrical arrangement which I clearly had not been doing. When done properly, the cover does indeed snap to itself quite nicely and the tablet stands up properly for viewing a movie.
This is an excellent case and priced, in my opinion, lower than it is worth. :good:
Well I ordered the red one off of amazon, should be getting it tomorrow along with my 64GB Samsung SD card. Hopefully will have my shield next week, have to wait for Best Buy to ship it.
Update: I received my case, and I have to say I was actually impressed with the quality of the case. Much better than I was expecting. My Shield shipped already so I should have it soon.
Just got mine. Nice case.

@aznmode, yeah just got mine. Same colour as yours. It's performing great for me. I just wish the magnetic clasp was able to grab onto something more secure when it is in "stand mode". I find the magnet sometimes pops loose for me. It's trivial to reaffix it again, so for the price I'm certainly willing to turn a blind eye to this behavior.

I played Sky Force 2014 (not Tegra enhanced, but pretty graphically rich for a shmup) and immediately after ending my 2 hour session of almost non-stop gaming, I opened System Monitor (app) and my temp was 40 deg Celsius. My Nexus 7 was climbing up to about 60 deg Celsius on the same game.
How is it when you have the covert folded back but flat against the back of the shield? does it lay completely flat? Can someone post a picture if they have it please.

It lays practically flat, with just the smallest amount of rake down from the cover fabric hinge to the metal clasp.
Hope it helps.
Thanks @jaredmorgs!!! I was waiting for someone to show a pic before I order it.
In my search for a good N6 case, I finally decided to pick this one up from the AT&T store (LINK). It has a nice, premium feel to it, and has magnets to turn the screen on/off when opening. At first glance, it's identical to what's shown on the Play Store (LINK), but there are a few differences in the card openings and stitching. I really like the speaker cut-outs, allowing you to talk on the phone while it's closed. So far, I'm quite impressed.
UPDATE 1: If you want to use it as a wallet and place credit cards or ID inside, be mindful that the flap doesn't close flat. I'm personally not using the case for that purpose, but this is the only issue I've discovered.
UPDATE 2: Wireless charging still works with the case on.
UPDATE 3: After a few weeks of use, there have been several frayed threads coming loose in between the the outer and inner surface of the flaps. I've cut them with scissors, but more are showing up. For a $40 case, this shouldn't be an issue. The edges should've been bonded together so these threads weren't prone to exposure. I like the functionality of this case, but this is disappointing.

That looks like a good, less expensive alternative. There seems to be no cut-out for the bottom speaker, so I'm wondering if that would affect calls while closed.

This is capable of "sleeping" and "waking" the phone when the flap opens or closes, just like pressing the power button.
Thanks for the information on the charger. One more question---are there cutouts for the volume and power buttons, or are they covered by the case frame? Also are there magnets to keep it closed (I noticed that reviews of this same case for other phones stated that there were no magnets, despite the description saying that there were.)

I hope casemate makes a gelli case like the one for the new moto x
Not for me
Let me prefix by saying this phone needs a case. It's too unwieldy to go alone without some kind of screen & fall protection.
I went to the local T-Mobile store, since I was nearby, just to check if they had the case. I was surprised to see this case in-store as it's still not on sale on the google play store. This is the one I was waiting on, and I was ready to purchase! I removed this case from the box, the construction feels like junk. Complete and utter junk. Then, to my surprise, I found broken pieces floating around in the case. There's no way I was going with that one.
Then I grab the clear case (same one on google play store), which is not what I want, but I need a temporary solution (other than my rag) so I don't mess up my $700 device. I open the box to that, and I just couldn't do it. The case for that is so bad and it has one of those cheap, crappy kick stands. I was kinda hoping for something like my SO got off Moto's site, which is similar to this one), but for her Moto X (2013).
I've got some D-Brand skins on the way, and I hope to wrap a good Amazon folio case around soon all that soon. Something I can remove at the end of the day and enjoy my nude phone. :good:
What case did you look at bro? this case is nice and sturdy and build pretty well..
i just got it and love it..especially love the fact that it turns my screen off and on when opening flip cover..
I'm planning to use this case on my mountek magnetic carmount, by inserting a metal plate in the back of the case for extra grip. Seeing that the back of your case sort of folds, would you say there's room for the metal plate? Can't tell from your photo's how exactly it is constructed. See below pic to see what I mean

I sent mine back a week or so ago.. I didn't really like the moto logo exposed and thought it could allow dirt/dust to get in between the case and the phone .. I went with a case that covers the whole back..
Sent from another Nexus..

Interested in how you fixed the buttons. That's the only thing I don't like with this case
Nice pictures. But...
I absolutely hated this case personally. Makes the phone feel huge and bulky, just cheap overall. The sides don't fit very well (bow out) -- flimsy plastic, buttons are a loose plastic mess, it's bulky and feels cheap. Just not worth the price tag when compared to other cases.
@Ellingsoc .. I'll have that video posted in a few days. You will love how much nicer the buttons become.
@Andromjb.. Was the bowing because of the way the bumper was seated on the tpu case? It took me a while before I got the fitment to be perfect because I didn't realize the two pieces weren't in place correctly
Can you explain it haha these buttons are driving me nuts
I really want people to go to the video for that info. But I'll PM you.

Could have just been my particular case as I applied it multiple ways, but it never fit 100% correctly no matter how hard I tried.
Bottom would always bulge leaving the plastic rough to touch while handling (on the upper backside area by microphone). Top was a tedious task of maneuvering the soft rubber backing to fit correctly without getting stuck underneath the outer plastic shell. Plastic sides were flimsy. Unappealing loose cheap plastic buttons which were always in the way.
I was always accidentally hitting/pressing the volume rockers or turning the screen off while just trying to hold the phone.
Just bad design, imho.
Try out a Ringke MAX. You'll see a major difference in quality and features for the same (actually cheaper) price point.
the way i put the case on was to first align the bumper and tpu perfectly. Then I would hold the left and right sides firmly and put the phone in bottom side first. Snap the top corners in while pressing the phone downwards to the bottom of the case. Works perfect every time so far!
@Ellingsoc .. I pm'ed you bout the buttons btw. Nothing shows in my sent box though. If you didnt get it send me a pm and ill respond to that one

I have a clear back protector on my phone, then this case. Any dust or dirt that gets in will just mess up the plastic film

I would appreciate the info via PM also. Don't see the secondary video posted yet. Doesn't my seniority here afford me that?
Even in the pictures you have taken with your case, it is showing a minor glimpse of what I was experiencing. I think you may have gotten a better quality case from manufacturing or perhaps they have made stealth revisions since as mine was a lot worse even with proper applications.
See attachment below -- which was the rough touch edge I referred to from previous comments.
that really just looks like it wasnt clipped in fully. but i could be wrong.
And i shot a quick video of the button fix. will be posting it in maybe 20 minutes

It's just the way the case is designed. It goes on a bit too snug, so it leaves some parts a bit uneven which returns poor results and rough edges.
I'm not trying to say the case is terrible. I just want people to be informed of the certain flaws and quality before they end up spending $19+ while they have other options available for less.

I loved this case for my S4. I thought it actually made the buttons feel better! But for this phone...well let's just say I use a Rinke slim now.

Looks interesting, hard to tell based on Glamour shots from the listing. I'd love to see some real pictures from real users.

The plastic one or the aluminum/glass one?
I tried the glass & aluminium on another device & the signal suffered, had to stop using it
I got mine for about half the price with a screen protector. Works well and look nice. But it does add bulk. Got a nice heavy slide too.

pics?
Cheaper on AliE and there are user reviews (about glass/alu ones)
Aluminium = interfere with modem signal, degrading it.
IMO it's better to aim for TPU case / armor. There are some released on AliE.
Ordered this one : https://fr.aliexpress.com/item/Cas-...uverture-en-fibre-de-carbone/32958049561.html (keyword "mi mix 3 tpu", avoid writing Xiaomi or you will find all ones for others models)
But there are others TPU style available.
no pics?
I've just put a transparent soft silicone case on mine, which I like a lot. It doesn't come with the protection this one would, but it's better than the hard plastic case that was in the box. Main concerns for me are grippiness and size, if I can grip the thing properly I'm less likely to drop it anyway.

The alu version. I did some indoor tests with the nperf app. At my location there is already bad cell signal and the case makes it a bit worse. Without the case I can complete the whole test most of the times, with the case I couldn't. Sometimes it downloaded at an acceptable rate but it couldn't upload... So there is an interference with the alu case. In a couple of days I can tell you how signal strength is at places with good reception.
With wifi there's no interference, download was the same and my upload rate was even higher with the case.
Looks: I got a matt alu black one with brushed metal buttons. It fits easy and there's no additional force needed to slide open the phone. Top and bottom of the case stick well together but I think when you drop the phone it will split open. Removing the phone out of the case can be done rapidly by removing the top frame and pushing through the whole of the fingerprint on the back. The transparent plastic back adds grip,
I think the plastic loses its transparency after a while due to scratches. The back camera's aren't protected because case and camera's have the same height
Just got this one with the SE logo
https://nl.aliexpress.com/item/Voor...46.html?spm=a2g0s.12269583.0.0.67151c9do9ZVjI
Just love it, great quality and fit.
Antenna may be on the side of the phone, that could be the reason of bad cell signal.
Side material seems to be plastic (I have a little scratch on a corner, it feel like plastic without coating) (just subjective opinion)
I hope someone will disassembling it, so we will know internal design. (I'm a little worried about battery replacement as I will keep the phone for long)
Personally, I bought Alu cases for Note 2, S7E n S7 (kinda masochism) and I always got decrease of cell/ gps signal.
Regarding that, Alu doesn't protect against shock, at best it will broke.
In worse, it may damage phone (Aluminium doesn't absorb shocks, so impact force will be transfered to phone (happened on my S7))
Mix 3 is heavy, lot more than S7/S7E..
TPU is less fashion but it's far better protection.
For the one asking for pics, I said I ordered. (Armor TPU has just been released)
Anyway you can find pics on AliE users review or product detail.
AliE sellers won't fake picture otherwise you can ask a full refund to AliE directly..
The one I discribed is from the second link. This one is fully aluminium, also the corners. The upper frame is also different from the first link. I don't have an opening in the upper frame.
Got mine Here some pics. Slider opens heavy

Every case I've seen allows the slider to open. I would actually like to find a case that locked the slider in place.

The case he showed I believe is a case that slides down with the screen though, so instead of the bottom being exposed, you get 100% coverage & also the slider can still operate

i have problems with GPS but i'm not sure that case causing it. I make some test. Would be a problem for me if GPS is not working.
