Dear smis,
1. If you have a problem regarding Energy ROM you should post on it's thread instead of starting a new one.
2. If you can't flash it via PC use the SD Card method.
3. Never flash anything prior to installing Hard-SPL
Good luck.
Cheers.

Before you get absolutely slammed on here, why don't you ask in the appropriate thread instead of starting a new one!!!!!

Actually this shoudln't be posted in ANY thread, especially not a new thread. You need to do alot more research before trying to flash a ROM if you can't even open the app (to be honest I would consider leaving your phone alone and not flashing anything). Go read some threads, search the formus and actually learn about what your doing before downloading a random file and bricking your phone

Can any mod, delete this useless noob and polluting thread.
Thanx alot
PS: smis learn to read man !

Thread closed as per forum rules.
Please read this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=448008 for a flashing guide
If you are still unable to flash the new rom, please search (and if that doesn't help, post in) this thread: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=477235

I am using 256 MB SD Card for Hard-SPL update to 1.83.
But it shows blue "loading..." for some time and reverts back to boot loader.
Nothing changed.
Please if you have problems with one ROM, put the post in the respective thread, do not open another one, also read cerefully how to flash thru sdcard in the sticky threads, do not be lazy
As far I know you can not update HSPL thru SD Card, read, read, read or you may brick your device
What should I do now?
I am still trying but nothing works.
What happens if I give this to HTC Warranty with SPL

Exactly.. all he had to do was flash the stock ROM and he would have been fine. It amazes me that people blindly flash such costly devices. *sigh*

Flashing stock ROM simple question

Ok,
I've downloaded a stock ROM from the HTC site and want to install it. I keep getting error 266. Yes I've read the wiki, searched plenty. Tried most fixes.
Just want to know, if I'm flashing a stock ROM do I need to install HSPL first?
The tutorials I've found are mostly for custom ROMs and as far as I know for a custom ROM you need to install HSPL.
Do you need to install this for a stock ROM?
Thanks.

No sir; Stock ROM don't need HSPL, (and certainly not in combination with 3.14 stock ROM)
Error 266 is a connection problem; are you well connected over active sync? did you disconnect AntiVirus temporary?
From where do you get start Home-screen or Boot-screen?
Witch stock rom are you trying to install?
I didn't think that it needed HSPL.
Yes, I've double checked the connection in windows mobile device centre. (running windows 7)
I have turned off the realtime protection with macafee.
It gets to the bootloader (Multicoloured screen)
It says USB in the white section at the bottom. Installs drivers but then errors with 266.
The ROM I'm trying to install is 3.14 from the HTC support site (Cannot post link)
Would it be a good idea to try an older ROM first?
Thanks,
Al

No, no need of a older ROM.
And about the link; no needed. I know it
A suggestion is to try to flash while you are on home screen instead of Bootloader; and try a otter usb port (if you have).
Ps; restart your pc and device firs.
PS 2; don't forget to run the RUU_Leo_S_HTC_... by administrator [right click on it and select Run as administrator]

I've tried it from the homescreen (I think) Whats the difference? I plugged in the usb cable and selected activesync mode. Then as it starts to gather information it changes to the bootloader.
I've tried different usb ports. Also tried a hub. I've rebooted my laptop and phone many times.
And I've also tried running as an administrator.
I don't suppose that you can unpack the .exe and transfer it to the memory card and run it from there?
And I don't suppose having HTC Sense disabled would cause any issue.
I could try a hard reset. Although it would restore it (would do once its updated ROM anyway) but I don't want to have to set it all up again if the update doesn't work.
Any more idea's?
Thanks,
Al
Okay; strange.
Try than to flash over SD.
- Take your "RUU_Leo_S_HTC_..." file and extract the "RUU_signed.nbh" file from the ROM, rename it to "leoimg.nbh" without ""
- Place the "leoimg.nbh" on the root of ur SD.
- Reset the device while pressing the volume down button.
I'm just about to try that! Just watched a vid on youtube!

PS, don't forget to use a SD < 8 GB (a 2GB SD would be perfect) and format it by FAT32
I've just thought about that. I only have an 8gb card I think! I had a spare but I can't find it!
Why can you only use a card < 8GB?
Software update failed. Please try again :O
Will it have bricked it?

Installing Custom Rom... A noob

Dear all,
I recently bought an LGP500 and im lovin it..!!!! Came across this forum and found that there are heaps of developments thats taking place in this platform! Really wanna thank each and everyone for their time and effort in trying to improvise on the OS.
I came across [UNOFFICIAL][ROM][stable:6.5.5,testing:6.6] CyanogenMod 7.1-RC1 (Android 2.3.4) and i really want to install it (or in that case, and good GB OS) over my froyo. I have been through a lot of threads on flashing and rooting, but im still very unclear about the whole process. Im not a computer geek, and all these jargon kinda make me feel like a bozo .
As a last resort, im trying out this thread. Would really appreciate if someone could spare some time and provide a simple walkthrough from - (a) backing up the original OS, (b) on through flashing and rooting, (c) to installing this custom ROM and (d) finally restoring it if needed for warranty purposes. Im pretty sure there are a lot of people like me who has difficulty in understanding all these processes and missing out some great developments.
I hope everyone understands this and wont consider this as one of those spam/duplicate threads, where the same Qs are repeated again and again...!
Thanks a lot for any support
Yes, the same Q's are repeated yet again. But I'm in a good mood today and I'll try not to give you much flak for it.
1. Root your phone, use z4root if android v2.2, use gingerbreak (both are apps) if on v2.2.1/2.2.2.
2. Install a custom recovery, of two kinds: AmonRa or ClockworkMod. Search for these threads.
3. Boot into recovery mode for backing up your current rom and installing a new one.
I hope this is a good summary. Before asking any further questions, check out the FAQ link in my signature.
Also read some stickies to enhance your knowledge. The_error has made a very good introduction thread on technical stuff.
In android, for using custom roms, first thing is to root. Then one has to install a recovery. Then make a nandroid backup from recovery. Then wipe everything from recovery and then flash your desired rom.
I suggest you do this:
1. Instal z4root app from market and Root your phone via it.
2. Install rom manager from market.
3. Install clockwork mod recovery via it.
Now you can go to recovery via rom manager or swith off and press and hold for about 15-30 seconds home+volume down+ power button.
Once you are in recovery, you are free to fly.
so which will be the most stable rom (no over clocking) for smooth usage, simple ui, internet and good video playback support. I herd there is problem with some roms not being able to play divx files.
I say rjtchn`s cm7 has the best battery I've had
Sent from my LG-P500 using XDA App
I can't find either z4root or Gingerbreak in the market. Searching XDA Developers I see several versions of z4root floating around, but since my Optimus V is 2.2.1, I gather I should be using Gingerbreak anyway? Pointers to the correct APK appreciated. Otherwise if I should be going the ADB route, pointers to a thread that has working drivers for the O V linked would be appreciated.
Thanks in advance!
OK, to answer my own Question, latest version (that I have tested works) of Gingerbreak is at:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1044765
Now to figure out which kernel or rom to go with...

hey i am a noob and can't understand what to do with those softwares which are mentioned above, is there any step by step guide from starting to end??
any help would be highly appreciable
ok..i am a noob too.. so what all guys are saying is that, let me simplify:
There are basically 3 steps,
first, install a "gingerbreak" app, which is a apk (u can copy it ur mem.card and using file manager (its default in your stock android), u can install it from ur android after copying
secondly, install ROM Manager Free from Market and Install ClockworkMod Recovery from that app(dont fret about technical names..just do it), its easy as click and download
thirdly, download the Custom ROM like Mik's CM7 6.5.6 or something that pleases you and copy the necessary files posted in the Custom ROM'S page, all will be zip files...and restart the phone , By pressing vol.up+home+power button..u Will get to a different screen(that is recovery) , and make a nandroid backup as everyone says(all options are seen in the recovery) ...then clear cache..clean anything and everything..then install zip file from sd card...choose the Custom ROM and Restart (and lastly , forgot to tell you ,navigate by presssing volume keys and menu key as ok button)
..ok...maybe its not simple as it looks,,once you try..it will be easy as taking candy from a baby, thanks to all the guides and developers and all the ppl that supports it.
There are further step by step tutorials , if u search for it.. i was confused as hell too.. dont worry, U Will get the hang of it Noobz

you should really follow the instructions on the rom of your choice, but ill just give you the general scope of things:
1. root phone using one of the methods found here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=901247
2. after rooting, flash custom recovery:
http://androidforums.com/getitnowmarketing/221388-custom-recovery-optimus-one-p500-thunderg.html
3. download rom of your choice from the link in #1 and move it to the root of your sdcard (which is directory /sdcard)
(3.5 you can use titanium backup to backup your apps. the sdcard should stay untouched while you flash your phone but im pretty sure that your internal memory will be erased. i didnt do this and i lost all of my apps so i dont really know where this step should go but i think it belongs here. there should be a folder on your phone with those backed up apps. move that folder to your computer. i didnt do this so im not sure if this is how it goes, sorry. btw this is optional.)
4. boot into recovery (with your phone off, hold home+vol down+power)
5. make a nandroid backup
6. wipe data/factory reset, wipe dalvik cache, wipe cache (follow the instructions on the rom that you chose)
7. flash (your rom name).zip
8. reboot phone (might take a while, thats normal)
the following is if you backed up your apps earlier:
9. move the folder with your apps backed up back to your phone in the exact same directory it was
10. restore it with titanium backup
someone please confirm this.
thanx guys

[Q] Need help downgrading firmware

I did post this in the anroid Q&A section but was told this section may be more approriate...
Okay I have tried everything I could before coming to this point, so you guys are my last hope... Basically I upgraded my partners live with walkman phone to ICS. Now she is complaining because it crashes all the time etc... So I followed one of the guides on here to downgrade. I downloaded flashtool and I downloaded the firmware. I deleted everything in the frimware folder as per the instructions. I then copied and pasted the gingerbread firmware into the folder and exited...
Then whenever I try to flash it, it says I need to install the drivers... I've tried to do that by going to the drivers folder etc. I've installed everything in there but nothing works and the LWW isn't listed anyway... I'm using windows 7 if that helps...
I've even tried doing this through my linux partition and that was a little over my head... Had to do all sorts in the terminal, I did try but no luck there either...
I've seen people in the comments ask for help and they seemed to have no problem when directed to the guide... I have follwed the guide to a tee multiple times, this is why I hate myself! lol
Please Please help me so I can shut my whining other half up! Trust me she whines even more than me! lol
check this form http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1709880 it helps you to downgrade and root

Hey thanks for the speedy reply but as I said in the OP I have tried this guide (well not this one but one exactly the same)... I have downloaded flashtool I have downloaded the firmware (gingerbread). I have done evrything, put it in the right folder etc... Just when I try to flash it it says I need to install the drivers, it comes up red... I go to the drivers folder install them but nothing works... Just keeps saying I must install drivers...
Still looking for a solution here guys, having no luck though... Any suggestions?

Windows is asking you for drivers? Your post isn't very clear...you probably need to install adb drivers on your pc, have you done that? Also ics on lww shouldn't crash and reboot all the time, did you upgrade through pcseus or through flashtools?

So you haven´t flashed any sbf via RSD yet? (NOT RECOMMENDED)
Please try the steps described in the link we gave you - if you manage to access rsd or fastboot again, you could save the device
Edit:

Travis, not to sound rude, but did you read my first post? i have been reading and trying different things for over 5 hours now and nothing yet has worked. that is why i created a new topic.
i apologize if i posted this topic in the wrong place, there were other topics relating to similar things.
First, questions go in Q&A. Second, don't pay attention to Travis - not worth your time.
Third, you are probably SOL (hard bricked). Not much hope if the automated method didn't work. You can look here to see if anything helps. Good luck!
what i would personally do is download the full SBF pudding file that corresponds to your phone type, and flash it. not the unlocker file, the full .sbf that includes all the firmware and everything.
after that, do a fastboot OEM unlock command
if that doesn't solve your problem, then it's a hard brick.
are you on at&t
