So far, this has happened to me TWO times, both were fixed by doing a battery pull and removing the memory card.
Likely causes:
-I turned off fast boot, and powered the phone down.
-32GB Class 10 Wintec memory card.
-USB 3.0 extender cable.
-Nokia MicroUSB charging cable.
Problem:
After turning off fast boot (not sure if this is related) and completely powering down the phone, the charging light will go off, and not come back on. This prevents the phone from being able to be turned on and no amount of unplugging and plugging back in fixes it.
Solution:
Unplug the charging cable. I have had to do a battery pull twice, not only a battery pull but also removing my memory card and leaving it out. After putting the battery back in, the phone's charging light will come back on. At this point I unplug the cable again, pull the battery again, reinsert my memory card and battery, then plug it back in and the charging light will come on and the phone will power on.
I'm not sure if this is faulty hardware, a conflicting memory card, fast boot disabling, or just plain software issues, but I am going to try and see if I can pinpoint the exact combination of steps needed to reproduce this.
Can you guys please chime in if you've had this issue so I don't replace my phone for nothing? Thanks!
I have had this issue a few times now - but it could be because I have been um... well, hacking. I can't use my SD card anymore. I have to boot with it out of the phone until I can get home and do some repair work, haha.

Pros: First, I have to say I am coming back to write a review because of Wintec's support! I've been emailing them back and forth, and today, 2 days after my last email, they called me out of the blue to get more details - and to pass me straight to the tech. Impressive.
(back on topic) After reading the other reviews here, I put this card through the ringer from day one for about a solid week. Using www.iozone.org, I really loaded it up to beat on it for 2 hours at a time.
It passed any and all tests, hands down.
Rated as a Class 10 for 10 MB/s substained write speeds, I averaged ~18 MB/s with this card, sometimes peaking to 24 MB/s. PASS
Also, read was much higher than expected.
Seek time, not so much (see cons).
Cons: Windows Phone 7 has the highest requirements in the industry for microSDHC cards. Specifically, it seems cards with a random seek time of 8 ms or faster is about the only cards that works in Windows Phone 7 (aka WP7).
This is not one of those cards. And you'll be hard pressed to find a microSDHC card that advertises as such, as they are pretty much a shoot in the barrel.
This card measured a very low 18 ms on random seek time. When installing this card in my WP7 device, as expected, random reboots happened and applications crashed, as well as sever delays in launching applications.
Sticking in the stock Sandisk Class 4 card worked fine. I ended up purchasing a Sandisk 32 GB Class 2 card and and it measured 7 ms, with a WRITE that matched the OEM Class 4 card of 6.8 MB/s. That card works perfectly in my WP7. This Wintect card, did not.
This card is not suited for mobile phones because mobile phones require near-instant lookups to random data.
Other Thoughts: Buy this card for cameras that need very fast write speeds. It will exceed your expectations (or at least any card you own).
Do NOT buy this card for your mobile phone (Android, WP7, WinMo, etc).

I was also looking into getting a 32 gb class 10 card but came around this post in the NewEgg feedback section. It is regarding the Wintec Card no less. This may be your problem. (http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16820161411)

I agree, it's probably that card. I got one last Dec and it was so unreliable in my Hero I had to go back to my Sandisk.
hope my cheapy class 1 16gb works okay
Just kidding guys, I have been able to reproduce this problem every single time without fail now.
Steps:
-Plug charger in.
-Turn off fast boot. Settings>Power>uncheck fastboot
-Power down phone (while charger is in)
voila.
Remove battery and memory card, unplug charger, put battery and card back in, plug in charger. Problem solved.
Seems to do with having the phone plugged in while disabling fast boot/shutting down with a memory card in, because If I repeat the steps with a memory card already out, it works fine.
Interesting to see if this is just my unit.
Anyone wanna try?
I've finally isolated an unusual behavior for my Photon. This has happened with multiple devices, the latest one right out of the box with no additional apps whatsoever. The behavior is that every morning when I take the phone off the charger (shutdown and in charge mode) and boot, it would reboot with no indication of why about 2 minutes after it booted completely (1.5 minutes after the screen turns off – 30 second delay setting). It would do this repeatedly for at least 3 times before it would stop. It has done this up to 6 times before I stopped it. I could stop the behavior at any time by keeping the screen on manually or keeping it on the charger (screen always on when on charger) for the first 2 minutes after boot. It wouldn't do this at any other time during the day, only the first boot of the day after being shutdown in charge mode overnight. I got so frustrated babysitting my phone for a couple of minutes every morning and over 4 months of troubleshooting thinking it was an app related issue.
The cause of this has been class 10 micro sdhc cards. I've tried two 16gb class 10 cards (same manufacturer) and two 32gb class 10 cards (different manufacturers), all with the same behavior. Only when I remove the card or put in a card other than class 10 does the morning reboots stop. I have tried formatting the cards in the phone and on the computer with 32kb allocation unit size with no change. My current card is a 16gb class 6, formatted in the computer with 32kb allocation unit size, with identical files as I was using on the previous two 32gb cards. At no time have I gotten sd card errors on the phone and have never had a problem accessing files on the micro sdhc card.
Like I stated, I've repeated this on three devices, one fresh out of the box with no additional apps. For whatever reason, the Photon doesn't like class 10 cards or has problems with my setup options together with class 10 cards. This and the notification light flashing have been so aggrevating but now I have them both fixed (no thanks to Motorola).
On cell phones, its best you use SD cards no higher than class 4.

That may be, but I never had a problem with my Evo4G and class 10 cards. Why do you think class 4 should be the fastest for phones?
My phone recently got wet and after disasemble dry reasemble everything works when first turned on but after almost 1 min. the touch is no longer recognized. Also i have not been able to mount the SD card at all it doesn't recognize even in recovery. Does anyone have any tips? The phone will boot, I have even installed different ROMS and remember the phone works when first turned on like there is no problem at all. Is this a ribbon or motherboard and does anyone want to buy it ?
wow really? No one has any ideas? Today i stuck the battery in and it worked perfect for almost 5 min. the sd card still does not recognize though and i even tried other sd cards. By the way it got wet over a month ago
Hello!
I have got a 64GB micro sd card, it was running for a year or so in my Galaxy S3, before in The Note2. It was pre formatted in exFat - everything worked fine without a problem. (It is a SanDisk SDXC card, the grey/red one)
A few days ago I was walking home and my battery was about 3 or 4 percent. I wanted to listen to some music on my way home, suddenly there was no more music and I couldn't start the phone. I tried the power button, I hoped there may be a little power left, but the screen kept black.
At home I charged my phone. When I started it later the SD Card wasn't recognized. Although I had a lot of music on it I wanted to format it in my phone (I have got all music and the rest of the card backed up on my pc)
It doesn't work, there was some notice like "...couldn't be formatted" I don't know the exact words.
Then I tried to format it from the PC (the card still in the phone) - I couldn't even see the card.
Then I tried it with a card reader, and later on in a laptop with a card reader and both times the same:
If the card gets recognized it has to be formatted, but the size of the card is "32.6 MB" which is definitly wrong. This isn't space that was on the card left, there were some GBs left. Even if I try to format it the PC stops and says something like "couldn't end the formatting" -> my PC has german language, I can't tell you exactly
What can I do now?
Has someone had a similar problem? It was a 64GB card, and these are not cheap
Have I maybe killed the card when the battery was near 0% and I tried to restart the phone?
I am pleased about every answer.
Have a nice day

My battery in my S4 was almost dead so I went to swap it with a charged one. I didn't shutdown the phone, I just pulled the battery and put in the new one.
After my phone restarted I got a bad SD card notification. I pulled the SD card and tried to read it with 2 different computers and both times Windows said I needed to format before using...
I ended up formatting it with Windows and running a card recovery program to get most of my photos back. Now I have to deal with downloading all my music from Google Play again and replacing all the other files I had on there. The SD card does work normally but it was a pain in the ass.
So moral of the story, shutdown your phone before pulling the battery, because your phone just might be accessing your SD card when you do it.
