Recovery of charmer using PROPHET ROM flashing method - MDA Compact II ROM Development

After flashing my charmer with wm 6.1 it was stuck at the Boot Screen and my phone no longer made a hard reset as it give formatting failed error.
Then i went to download an official WM5 rom from Tmobile, then I went into bootloader and successfully flash the official ROm. But again format error
Now it just shows
IPL 3.08
SPL 3.08.0000
GSM 02.69.21
OS 3.8.2.21
I tried the prophet ROM flashing as advised somewhere else but it failed at 95% giving me invalid nbh error
In the past I had successfully solved the problem by flashing the prophet ROM but this time .......
Any complete help or specially cooked Prophet ROM for this type of recovery...

You better not to flash Prophet ROM to charmer. Charmer wiki, compatibility section

But this is for recovery puposes as described somewhere else

Nobody seems to be interested to take pains in solving my problems

I do.
You have to flash with a SDcard. Search the Propet and Wizard section to find out how it works.

Thanks Mr ChrBeck!!!
But I think that some way of downgrading the the SPL to 2.?? from the current 3.08 would allow me to install the PROPHET ROM for recovery and then it would be possible for me to upgrade to orignal WM5 ROM and then upgrade to your lovely ROM that I had before your latest upgrade.
Am I right or if not then can you give me the necessary files and instructions for the sd card recovery method.
Please help me as no one in my locality knows much about CHARMER and simply unable to help me in this aspect.
Thanks again.
Dr.Zia ur Rehman

I'll try to help you. In the Wizard forum there is a sticky whitch tells how to do the SDrecovery. Just search it. With the SD Card you can just fully flash a ROM. You can't downgrade anything because downgrades are looked.
If I'll find the sticky this evening I can post the link here.

Cant there be some kind of HARD SPL for this ..... charmer that would allow me to flash the prophet ROM fully. In this way I had recovered my CHARMER but I think that at that time it had lower version of IPL or SPL so the full PROPHET ROM was sucessfully installed and I was able to hard reset and flash the orignal T-Mobile ROM that I think upgraded my SPL too!!!

There is no hardSPL. Noone ever designed one. And if the Prophet trick doesn't work you can try it with a G3 Wizard ROM too. But if that doesn't help to search for the SDUpdate!

To do an SD update you must have a ROM dump on SD card from bootloader.
Method can be found here. Section 8. OS, GSM Image Reflash Procedure

Thanks for finding it for us. There was a time I read this manual completely but I don't know much of it anylonger.

Charmer needs to be CID unlocked to perform SD card flashing.

I agree. I just forgot to mention this.

Then forget it. You can't CID unlock a 2.x or 3.x. So this method is out.

How can I confirm that my charmer is CDI unlocked???
Any if this is the case then what to do with my poor CHARMER....
ANY HOPES OF ITS RECOVERY in some other manner???
Also can you post link to the wizard ROM you mentioned in your post for recovery ???
THANKS IN ANTICIPATION !!!

Well, you have a boatloader over 1.x right? If so your device can't be unlocked. But you can try to flash any WM5 ROM for Wizard. But be sure it is jast the ROM. No phone or bootloader in it.
Maybe that works.

Would you be kind enough to post a link to the proposed ROM to which I can give a try?
Is this would be possible to flash any specialiy cooked Prophet ROM only with OS as the complete Prophet ROM (with no ID RUU)gives me error at 95%.
Further isn't there a way to downgrade my spl that would allow me to flash prophet ROM that confirmly worked for me in the past.

Please help i am in great trouble.......

I have been there mrvanx guide. but he don't have the solution to this problem. Just to downgrade the rom to wm5 not the SPL.
mysharif i think we have to shout again.
Help us anybody there we are stuck here.
OK guys the SPL downgrade can be done by downgrading to SPL 1.10.oli then flash any ROM with SPL 1.04 in it.
The only reason i can see that you wish to downgrade to 1.04 is because of a warranty issue. What is the problem with your devices??
You are great. I hope it will work for my Imate JasJam. Last night I was flashing my ROM with the original ROM but modified with NBH decomplie too by dutty. Before that I wrecked my device as I used the flashing of ROM using the latest sensation of loading the SSPL to RAM by des. That was my mistake that I used the original ROM. Then I removed the USB cable as it was taking too much time and because of danger to my imate I did that. Anyhow I got the NO GSM error but then I ran the Dutty's WM6v2 cooked ROM and it fixes all the things I am using it now.
The reason for my Imate JasJam degrade is my jog is not working according to its function. You know jumping from field to field. I didn't found any of that problem solution till the page of 30 in threads and posts. I am searching but if anybody knows the link. Kindly help me. So that I will save a trip to see the warranty people. (here we don't have ladies receptionists )
Sorry for the stupid question, how do I downgrade from Oli 2.10 to Oli 1.10
Il write a guide on it...too many PMs about this.

I have the same problem. My touchscreen is dud and Softbank is very anal about the bootloader and warranty. im stuck with Olipro 2.10 and tried flashing the latest softbank rom. When i try via USB/Windows it gives me error 260.
Flashing with MicroSD works, but after a few attempts, its still Olipro bootloader...any ideas?

Ofcourse...because flashing an original RUU it doesnt recognise the new bootloader (Hence your 260 error), and HArdSPL doesnt allow itself to be overwritten by a retail RUU. IF you read through the HArdSPL threads you would know this.

Hmmm, just yesterday (Thursday) I was asked by a VP at our company if that could be done. I was reluctant to say yes, but mrvanx comes thru with a fix.
The VP is in fact worried about having to return some devices to Vodafone, and he want to make them look "original" when they go back.

Just flash SPL 1.10.oli.......................then flash a vodaphone ROM, dont use 'force SSPL', just use autodetect.
well to get spl 1.04 all u have to do is take rom koch and the wm5 rom u are downgrading to. first downgrade os. then take that rom and using rom koch split it into parts and just take the spl and make it into a nbh and use the custom ruu on here. select force sspl and itll make ur spl 1.04. this is a quick guide and do this at own risk. using this method i got my first 8525 to aku 3.5 att and original spl. if marvanx comfirms i didnt make any mistakes i can make a new thread with pics and all so we cna add this to resources and stop the questions.

You dont need to use the rom koch ... duttys nbh tool is far more appropriate for this since we aint doing any cooking.

Hi mrvanx, some input to go into your guide (in case you havent come across this yet).
While flashing 1.10Oli under Vista, users may run into a problem where after loading SSPL and the phone goes into (SSPL) bootloader mode, the RUU program cannot detect the phone and returns an error.
This is due to the Vista drivers for HTC USB Sync. The driver needs to be manually "updated" just like in your Vista flashing guide. In this case, while the phone is in SSPL bootloader mode, go into device manager, replace the default HTC USB Sync driver with the USBAS one from your Vista flashing guide.
Then soft reset the phone, and try again. Worked for me.
For some reason, SSPL bootloader may appear as a different device to Windows than the hard/standard bootloader, so even if the Vista procedure has been performed before, it looks like it needs to be done also for SSPL.

Hard SPL for Prophet

It's patched SPL 2.20
1. Run SSPL (SoftSPL) - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=347348
2. Flash HardSPL for your DOC
Yes, really was not hard to patch.. glad it worked))) so, this disables CID and some other checks, so you can flash any custom rom
i have hard SPL/IPL 3.08 will ir work?
newbe here.
What does device root mean?
is it my prophet?
is root windows directory
Looks promissing.
So, as I understand, you don't have to "downgrade" your firmware everytime you want to try a new ROM?
This looks great.
You made our life much easier I think this should be a Sticky
for those of you who dosen't really know what this does.
follow the procedure (soft SPL then hard SPL) and you would never ever need any extra steps before upgrading to wm6.
EDIT: Okay I made it easier. I made a batch file to do the work. (Soft SPL then Hard SPL)
just run the Upgrade_SPL.bat from your PC. It will do the Soft and Hard SPL
Thanks Prislav for this great work
Test to patch a G4 prophet : ok
IPL and SPL version seem differents
IPL : 2.10.00
SPL : 2.G4.4PDA
Test to flash my proper ROM : ok for the moment.
Whaô, WM6 update with progress bar, Fantastic.
Reflexion :
Rom update launched from WindowsMobile synchronised with ActiveSync with patched RUU for Wizard.
My Prophet seems to be reconized by the RUU like a Wizard but upgrade work.
Finally :
Perfect job Prislav it work like a charm, our Prophet are now like other recents HTC devices. It rock : only 10minutes to flash a ROM with special SplashScreen
Now :
Flash just finished, all is ok Prislav, you are the BOSS
Question :
Do a patched RUU for Vista exist ?
Perfect for G4 Prophet...
Wooo! Done!
WOW!
I just tried this, and it's amazing! I tried flashing my Original ROM and it worked. Even the SPL was updated. The only thing that it didn't change was IPL. If you broke your phone and have warranty, this is THE easiest way to get the Vendor ROM back. I would even venture to say this is the best tool yet for Flash-a-holics. Thank you so much!
Sounds great, but what about warranty?
Do we lose it if we change hard spl?
worth to try....
This is really an evolution (or is it revolution? ).
lol this removed my spl 3.08,really amazing tool, thanks prislav, big thanks.
IS HardSPL necessary if CID Unlocked ???
I CID unlocked my G4 M600 with the known paid service.
So do i need to HardSPL my phone and why???
Please somebody explain...
as i think,if you have hardspl, you will never be able to brick your phone.correct me if i was wrong.
Can a G4 be bricked? I was under the impression that the G4 was unbrickable. All the bricks I've ever heard of were G3 devices. I mean one can get stuck at bootloader and the like, but I've always got my phone back. Even had a Wizard ROM on there, and even that didn't brick it (although that time I thought it was toast!)! Like zeroed said, it will help you get your SPL back if you have that problem, and I think it's just an amazing tool for flashing in general.

Anyone pleaassseee ?????
I just need to be totally shure about this.. If i run this hard spl thingy patch on my G4 prophet i do not need to downgrade to wm5 everytime i want to try a new wm6 rom, if i currently are using a wm6 rom ?
And how do you guys flash a wm6 rom with the RUU utility ? I haven't seen any WM6 rom yet using RUU..
Just a little confused, sorry!
You wont need upgrading to wm5 - i recommend that you never flash full roms to avoid spl reflashing after hard-spl. the best practice will be to use nb2nbf to generate nbfs for your os, splash and gsm separately
Wait a second. Why should we avoid SPL reflashing after HardSPL??? I already flashed back to my original SPL and re-flashed HardSPL without any problem. What is the danger of doing this?

Need some help before i brick my Hermes

Hi,
i was trying to upgrade my Hermes to WM6 and i was doing it according to mrvnx guide. First i tried the WM6 guide. Ipl was 1.01 and SPL was 1.11. Evrything went fine up until the part where the actual ROM was supposed to be flashed. The update pocess started, and i went for a smoke somewhere at 2%. When i came back, there was a message saying image file was corrupted, and Hermes was up and running. So, my first instinct was that i missunderstood something and that that guide was for phones already having WM6, so i decided to do the WM5 guide. I flashed the SPL, skipped the radio upgrade (cause i didn't know whether to use that version or the later one) and skipped to the next page. And, low and behold, there it says "Firstly download the WM5 ROM you wish to upgrade to"
And now i'm stuck and i don't know what to do. Should i get some WM5 ROM and first upgrade to it and then to WM6? Or should i go straight for WM6 ROM? If so, do i just follow the WM5 guide only using WM6 ROM or do i just flash it by the WM6 guide?
The phone still works with no problems at all. The desired WM6 ROM is Pays Full. Is it really corupted (got it from the "download full" link in the first post here), or was it my mistake?
Sim unlock and cid unlock your device then - http://pof.eslack.org/hermes-unlocker/
Download your carriers Rom (wm5 or wm6 - o2,orange,at&t etc)
then flash that.
then HARDSPL your device - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=296722
then use modified updater to flash your device with the wm6/6.1 rom of your choice.. works fine for me.
2.10 bootloader with the "is it hardspl" checked and wa'la its updated
hope this helps.
Thanx for the answer. I doubt i'll find my carrier's rom, since i'm from Croatia, and i think it hasn't been posted here, and certainly hasn't been posted on my provider's site. I did make a backup before upgrading, and i have the three raw files made with itsutils. Will this do?
Also, could you please explain why i need to sim/cid unlock it? The device itself is not branded at all, i believe it's only locked to the provider's sim, and that's all. Does sim /cid unlocking cover that or is it about something else?
Thanx!
Sim unlocking = you can use other sims
CID unlocking = you can use other roms (maybe why your update is crashing)
HARDSPL = One less chance of bricking your device
as your device is still currently up and running im guessing you can do it all via that rom.
Ok, just so i don't missunderstand you, can i do what you suggested, but without flashing the carrier's rom?
you can, however you may encounter problems with wm6.1 in the future (hard resets etc)
OK to clear this thread up....
...make sure you have flashed HardSPL before continuing then...
...redownload the ROM it sounds like it has become corrupted whilst being downloaded so make sure you unzip the whole thing to a folder first then try it.
did everything like kingsizeriz told me, except i did it on the existing rom. uploaded the same rom i tried before and it worked like a charm. me and mates have been fiddling with it the whole evening and noticed no problems so far. Thanx for the help, much appreciated
Btw, one last question, is NK.EXE supposed to be 0 bytes?

vodafone v1605

Hi to everybody.
I have an Hermes 200 Vodaphone VPA compact 2 v1605.
I wanna put into this pda the latest Schap's 4.31 ROM.
I have done the mrVanx procedure and I have successfully installed the 2.10 Hard-SPL-V7.
Now I wiil explain my two problems:
- I don't know if my pda is CID unlocked or not... With the HardSpl flashed on my pda, should I be scared about that or not?
I think HardSPL turn my pda into supercid... right?
- If ROM flashing procedure will be stopped by a pc crash, I can unbrick my pda easily? In wich way?
Should I use the mrVanx guide to flash pda or I follow microsd guide?
Many thanks
I should have read the wiki. Either way, and since nobody helped me when i needed and i had to find it all by myself, i know how frustrating it might be. So ill give u hand.
First go here:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=293665
Download that tool that will superCID ur phone and Hard SPL it automatically. Pay attention to every step.
After that, and since the hard spl installed by that tool is rather old, go here:
http://www.mrvanx.org/thg/index.php?option=com_content&task=view&id=16&Itemid=26
In the middle of that tuturial u will find the link to the mostly used version of hard spl and how to update ur rom to one of the cooked ones around here.
Soz if my english aint perfect but im not english nor american though.^^
Thanx for reply. But i think you haven't understand my question.
I think my pda is already SuperCID because i have installed the 2.10 HardSPL.
Somewhere in this forum or in the wiki i found that if I flash my pda with 2.10 HardSPL I don't have to use unlocker because this version allow SUPERCID mode.
Am I wrong???
My pda is also already sim unlocked. Infact it is Vodofane (english or german) but i can use TIM italian sim card without problems.
Now my question is:
If I write the schap's ROM with SD procedure, should I scared about RADIO ROM damage?
I found that schap's ROM doesn't modify RADIO, right?
..so i think that SD procedure is the safer way.
Thanks
Not really, most if not all cooked roms DON'T have the radio rom cooked in as there is no perfect rom for everyone, its carrier compliant. Just because a new radio rom comes out doesn't mean its going to improve your reception or battery life, sometimes it causes problems, hence the chefs give you the option of what radio to use.
Now, Hard SPL is only a safety net, things can still go wrong but if they do there is a load of information on how to fix it, ESPECIALLY if you've installed Hard SPL. Make sure its version 7 so the spl reads as 2.10 olipro when you enter bootloader (power button, ok button above flywheel and reset with stylus, hold in until you get to tricolour screen). Just soft reset with stylus to get out.
Personally, as you have Hard SPL, I'd use the sd card method to flash your os. Its on the forum MANY times over. A quick search should find it. VERY EASY and, I believe, safer than using the pc. Just make sure the battery is charged.
Hope this helps....
Cheers....

Yes i have HardSPL v7 2.10 installed on my pda.
This mean I'm in supercid mode and I'm able to flash any rom. right?
I haven't to use the sim cid unlcker, right?
I haven't understand this:
At the moment I don't want to change my RADIO ROM.
Latest schap's ROM doesn't modify RADIO so my radio ROM remain the same. Is this true?
If I flash schap's ROM should I to flash a RADIO ROM that works with schap's one? Or does my RADIO continue to work?

I have a brand new hermes since last week and i passed a lot of blocking and stucking in the bootloader. However, the first ROM i installed was Schaps one and on that time i didn't even have my phone Hard SPL'ed or SuperCID'ed! I used that tool of SSPL. But if u say ur phone is already Hard SPL you will have no problems installing the schaps rom. In addition, the RADIO ROM will not be modified with his rom. I must say that besides his ROM was installed perfectly, there are some other cooked ROMs that require your phone to be SuperCID'ed.
Thanks for your reply.

It works good on mine. And no, it doesnt modify your ROM.
As stated before, the chefs tend to let YOU decide what radio to use... There is no perfect radio rom and location/carrier seems to determine what is the best radio for you.
Cheers...
I put the rom in microsd renamed in HERMIMG.nbh
I start the bootloader withe ok + power + stylus but the flash procedure doesn't start. I have only the bootloader screen with 4 rows:
RED HERM200
IPL-1.04
HERM200
SPL-2.10 OLIPRO
GREEN
BLUE
WHITE SERIAL
what's the matter?
p.s.
I'm using a 2g sandisk
with 1gb microsd sandisk it works!!
Flash successfull!!
Thanks to everybody
sfrangebob, it should work with a 2gb too, It needs to formatted fat32 though.
Congrats and welcome to the wide world of Phone upgrading...

RAPH Paper weight - SPL

Dear all,
I am facing a problem here.
Had a hardware problem with the built in microphone and had to revert back to stock rom/splash screen/Original SPL in that order.
Had no problems reverting the ROM and the original screen back (just a couple of flashes), BUT when I tried to revert back the stock SPL here http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=110582&d=1220406410
I renamed the file to RAPHIMG.nbh, copied it to the root of the SD Card and entered bootloader mode and this is what it displays:
RAPH100
SPL-1.90.0000 (Which means a successful flash)
!!! AND THEN THIS !!!
"Upgrade ROM code error"
"Please try again"
This message is located in the last part of the green stripe in the tri color screen (bootloader)
It is then followed by the grey screen automatically which you are supposed to press volume key to start a flash process BUT it just HANGS at Loading...
unabling you to flash anything.
It's actually a friend's phone too so I guess you understand how hard it is....
Any help is appreciated
Thanks in advance
Possible image might be corrupt on sd card, grey screen is shown when it's trying to read sd, have you tried with sd removed? if you get to 2nd tricolor screen with sd removed i would use usb flash to restore it to working order..

If you're at the tricolor screen and it reads serial, that should be fine.. plug in usb and it should switch to usb.. then flash a stock carrier rom through usb.. that should get you up and running and you can then run sspl and flash your spl

Keep in mind im currently on stock SPL, do u think flashing the stock ROM is ok?
That's exactly why i suggested stock ROM, stock SPL will only accept stock ROM's (it will overwrite the spl too so make sure the stock rom you are using is the right one)
dude....i hate to say this...butyou might be s.o.l. at this point. i did the same to my fuze not too long ago... tryingto flash anything to the phone just locks it up.i was lucky enough to bs my way through an att guy to get me a new one (was still under the 30 day warranty).

I had the same problem as you and could not flash any rom, Always get Invalid vendor ID.
You need the right Stock Rom to flash and in my case in the middleeast, the Stock Rom is so far only available in at HTC.
I had to take the phone to HTC Service Center and they flashed the correct Stock Rom and charged me as they did it out of warranty.

Sorry about my last post... I misread your issue.
If you flashed the stock 1.90 SPL from the HardSPL thread, then you will need to ask Olipro (or cmonex) which WWE ROM it originated from. That ROM is the ONLY one your phone will accept.
The steps in reverting SPL for warranty / return state to always do the ROM first so that you do not run into this problem. I had the same issue when I was testing a US 3G Diamond I bought from Best Buy (to become acclimated to TF3D prior to the Fuze's release). I restored the SPL first, and then couldn't get Dutty's ROM off the phone, because I could not locate a downloadable version of the WWE ROM that phone came with. [Luckily, Best Buy Mobile's employees in KOP, PA aren't too clever, and I was able to convince them that the phone came that way. ]

Hmm, then I need to know from which ROM the SPL originated and then flash it.
Thing is, some of the shipped roms available at wiki are just nbh files..
I tried flashing with the wrapper exe and the RaphaelCustomRUU.exe and still all roms I've downloaded don't seem to work.
It's a RAPH100 untied to a network.

Post in the HardSPL thread asking which ROM the SPL originated from. Once you know that, you can download the appropriate ROM from the Wiki.

SPL has nothing to do with the Invalid Vendor ID Error, It is the CID. In another word you can flash SPL 1.95 and still can not flash the AT Rom 1.95.502.5 because the CID is different.
Regards
ViperBJK's QMAT features GoldCard generator for current HTC devices that can force RUU to bypass CID check.
Do you know what is the CID of your device?

The CID is determind by the SPL.
Look up the error code posted... everything points to HardSPL. Back in my Wizard days, HardSPL did not exist, and we just did a CID unlocking. This is not the case with newer devices.
All ROMs are not created equal. Each WWE ROM checks for specific information within the SPL, and if it doesn't find what it's expecting, fail...

I'm not sure
Where can I know that?
@NotATreoFan && Shafez,
I remember from TyTNII day when Shafez suggested extracting 3.29 and 28 SPLs from the newer shipped 6.1's for a better responsive device.
We could extract and build with htc rom tool if I remember the name of the tool correctly.
Do we have a tool as such compatible with TP? (agreeing with NotATreoFan here)
@Shafez,
Since you think it is not SPL and it is a CID issue, what can I do about it?
Sending it to SVC for repair out of warranty is an option but I'd like to leave it as my last.
Did they provide the ROM or they flashed it for you?
Were u able to make raw files out of it for future use or any1 else has it?
Thx guys and keep the help coming

Since you cannot get past the bootloader, your only option is to find the WWE ROM that matches the SPL you flashed. Even though the HTC ROM Tool "signs" the NBH file, it still won't fool the stock bootloader... if it did, we wouldn't need HardSPL.
