what the best radio for nike - Touch Dual, MDA Touch Plus ROM Development

the best radio for good gsm reception? please help?

There's no real answer because signal reception depends on your used ROM, your Provider and your country! So the best way to let it know is to test all Radios by yourself!

Also, the type/age of ROM will have minimum or maximum radio restrictions.

it depends on model and country.
Radio from niki200 works very badly on my niki100.
Also radio from my niki100 works very badly on niki200

The official HTC Radio 1.65.28.25 is working great in many countries

Hermes radios and worldphone

With all these radios with increasing version numbers ( presumably updates) and comments about not working on some networks which can be a problem for international travellers.
I have a few questions.
- Do these radios all work well on the 2G (GSM, GPRS Edge networks)
- Is the problem of compatibility only on the 3G networks ?
- Do other manufacturer 3G world phones work well in all countries or is this specific to the Hermes platform radios?

Typically when I travel I'll try to find a radio which works well in the country I'm visiting, but this can be time consuming. I've so far found that by forcing my phone to GSM only I will often get better phone reception, but obviously at the expense of data - so you may be right that the main problem is with the 3G side of things.
I've found that the best rom so far is 1.38.00.10. I've used it in North/South America, Europe, Asia and Asia Pacific and don't recall any specific problems. 1.50.00.00 also seems promising but I always travel with a copy of 1.38 just in case.
My phone is the Vodafone VPA Compact III using with a UK O2 contract SIM. I also travel with an unmodified Nokia N80 on my Vodafone SIM. Often the Nokia will have a signal when my Hermes won't. This is usually because the Nokia has logged onto a different network and when I force the Hermes to that network (from auto) everything is fine again.

The link to Optus ROM on http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=HTC_Raphael_WM6.1_ROMs does not work. Can somebody repost? My Fuze Raphael does not have 900 UMTS frequency listed and I would like to flash it with Optus ROM in order to get YesG coverage. Am I on the right track?

No as it's hardware dependent the bands not software..
Well, I have the original AT&T HTC Fuze. According to the GSMArena, it should support 900 UMTS (HSDPA 850 / 900 / 1900 / 2100 - HTC Fuze), which is not listed in my unit.
I am using a Touch Pro on Optus and live in a rural area that has only the 900Mhz 3G network. The 900Mhz band doesn't show up in the settings no matter which ROM I flash....yet I'm still picking up up the 900Mhz band without any problems. Try setting your band settings to "auto" and see if you can get 3G...
Today I flashed Energy.RAPHAEL.21889.Standard_27.Jan.2010.rar ROM. Guess what? Now I have the desired UMTS 900/2100 displayed. In a few days I will go to the country area, with YesG (UMTS 900) coverage only, and we'll see whether it is working. My Radio is 1.08.25.20 which seems to be popular here in Australia, even though my TytnII has better reception at the same spot.
Another thing I want to try is VOIP, which is working fine on NOKIA E51, but not so on Windows based HTC, where it is quite unusable. Apparently, there is native support for it in WM6.5, so, I don't know, whether I have to add rilphone.dll (which version) to it?

you can change that drop down yourself from the registry, there should be 5 entries there but generally most roms will only show the first 3 (thats all they use in the US)

change band with radio?

Hi, i am newbie yet, but by what i read, RADIO is responsible by the communication, with GPRS, with 3g too for exemple.
My HTC TPT7272 works on dual-band trough the HSPA/WCDMA, only on 900 and 2100 MHz...
But here on my region, my provider provides the access for 3G only on 850/1900 MHz, so, i have to use EDGE to connect to the internet, but my HTC support 3G...
Does anybody know, if I can upgrade my radio, or if is possible to change the work band for 3G by the radio for provide my access to the 3G?
Grateful
Henrique
not available
I hope that would be the case, but I have yet to see it work for the many months on this forum. There are strong evidence that this is a hardware limitation on the Raphael. Unless you have a FUZE (AT&T version of Raphael), you are out of luck for 850/1900 HSUPA until someone comes forth with the software for us to try.
but so, u see some possibility?
if anybody knows, please contact me, i would love to use my HSUPA, crap of provider, could provide full signal..
if some version of raphael works on this band, could i install his radio? i really wants to navigate on 3G signal...
LOOK IT:
Fuze/AT&T(HTC RAPHAEL 101)
Cellular;Phone
Cellular-Networks: GSM850, GSM900, GSM1800, GSM1900, UMTS850, UMTS1900, UMTS2100
Cellular+Data+Links: CSD, GPRS, EDGE, UMTS, HSDPA
FUZE WORKS ON IT, on 850, anybody know if I install his radio will work??
The official specs on HTC's website doesn't inlude 850/1900 as part of the HSPA (3G) connection, only for EDGE.
I have tried many of the radios here and none gives me 3G connection for my carrier, which is on 850 band for HSDPA.
I have tried 1.02.25.19
and then 1.02.25.28
and then 1.02.25.32
and then 1.08.25.20M1
and now 1.11.25.01
but I haven't tried any radios for the other phones since my TP is not security/CID unlock. You can try all the raphael radios, then consider getting CID unlock to try the other radios if you wish.
I have been on this forum for a few months and yet to read anyone successful in getting a TP working on 850. If you do succeed, please share this knowledge for I am sure there are still ppl out there wanting the same thing as you do as well. Myself being one of them.
I wish you success in this endeavor.
man, i am iniciant, i took my HTC TP in around 1 mounth, and one point that almost conviced me not to buy this pda was the 3g band.. i wait this more than you, lets wait if anyvody with much experience can post one help for us

they haven't updated recently, which means there is no more 'news' on it.
you can try searching for 3G in the elite RC3 thread up in the sticky section.
they still don't have a solution either.
you can keep waiting.

AT&T

I did a search and couldn't find my inquiry so i ask the great minds of XDA for help. I just got a unbranded HD2 with my AT&T SIM card. What's the recommended ROM? Also, will i be able to get 3G? My SPL is 3.03, from what i read, would i need to Downgrade that SPL or can i just get HSPL with no problems?
Big Thanks to whomever can answer this question.
well from what i know it depends oh which hd2 you have. i have a tmous hd2 and can only get edge cause the 3g bands are different, you need to find out what your 3g band is and if its the same as att's. if its the testra version you should be able to get 3g
I have a TMoUS HD2 on AT&T's network and it works perfectly though it is only Edge, (no 3G).
I'm using Cleanex Core 1.00 WWE with Radio 2.10.50.28_2 and it is fast, smooth, with great battery life with data connection and Wifi on all the time.
As others have said.. it really depends on what you bought. I recently purchased a Telstra HD2 which has 3G bands that are compatible with AT&T 850 MHz towers here in the US. And boy does it smoke on 3G
Telstra HD2 ROM change for ATT?
Radon222,
Did you flash your Telstra HD2 ROM to get rid of the proprietary glitz from the Telstra carrier programming?
Any recommendations on a vendor for the Telstra HD2?
I have the unlocked TMOUS HD2 on the ATT network.
Investigating an upgrade to the Telstra HD2 for the 3G speed.

I bought my Telstra used from Doug on Mobility Digest. So I couldnt really recommend a vendor. It was already flashed with an NRG ROM when i got it but have since upgraded both the HSPL and flashed the latest NRG.
So Far I really love this phone. The 3G speed is incredible as long as you aren't in Manhattan and are covered with an 850 MHz tower.
