[REQ]Can any 1? - P3400 ROM Development

hey experts i m using the new pointui home 2 with the latest build verison 2.0.18 b n m enjoying it alot as its highly customizable..can any of us here build a ROM wid Home2 Replacing our Today ?
if it can be done then i think we can cut down the RAM Home2 uses as a Standalone Plugin ..

No we can't. As of now, there are two things to not considering Home 2 cooking with ROM:
1. Its development is in early stage and updates are and will come fast. Cooking home 2 in ROM will hamper the updating process.
2. There is no difference in RAM usage whether you cook it or not. The only difference is Phone memory usage (which is not a concern as Home 2 can be installed on SD Card) and speed (ya, this would be affected significantly.)
So wait for some time, and maybe someone will do it, it could be me also, who knows?

Just some comments on the New ROMs

I loaded DCD 4.1.2 and liked it. I was REALLY excited about the new 6.5 ROM. While I haven't built my own ROMs, My little mogul has been cooked more times than I can think of.
Here are my thoughts on these two ROMs
DCD
Pros:
GREAT memory and management: 26 mgs available at boot:
I can run Audio Manager, Live Search, Netfront browser, and send and receive text....with neither of them closing.
Cons:
See Pros below
Windows 6.5
Pros:
Integrated Touchflow.
IE8 with Flash
It really does seem faster for some things.
Cons:
Terrible memory and management. Even with Manilla NOT loaded, I only have about 19.5 megs at boot up (even with Hibernate). I can only run one program at once (basically).
Conclusion:
I would rather have the memory than IE8.
Thanks for the info. I love DCD roms, but I'm really wondering about this new WM6.5 rom. It would be nice to hear some more comments from others about each. Thanks!
Not so much an opinion as an educated comment...
I think that you are going to find that WM6.5 (and IE8) are just plain designed for devices with more RAM than the Titan's 64MB. It's a hardware limitation that is just going to be difficult to get past. Compare it to running Vista on an older desktop box with only 512MB of RAM... it will work, and look pretty, but it will be very limited. Vista (and WM6.5) were designed around hardware that is unfortunately higher horsepower than older machines like the desktop I used as an example above (in the case of Vista) and the Titan (in the case of WM6.5) have.
It'll be fun to play with (I haven't tried it yet) but expecting it to be a reliable daily driver on the Titan is probably asking a bit much. I found the same thing with Opera 9.5... it is beautiful, and the best mobile browser I have ever seen, but the Titan just can't run it effectively (without the low memory errors).
were getting pretty close on the memory but your right the 6800 got the shaft on the ram dept.
don't know why you have memory issues.. when I build WM6.5 without M2D
I get 25.6MB FREE ram .. without Hibernate..
and even with M2D loaded and 18.8MB free at bootup, I am still able to run
google map, sms\mms and IE plus Activesync running .. with no issues..
also runs my TomTom without any issues.. plus 6.5 runs faster as well overall..
granted as you keep loading more apps if you go to task mng, just by opening
task mng. it close some apps .. if you flip to and from your apps you'll see they
are still running .. well my experience anyways...
I use my phone just like if its a PC .. hell this post if from my phone.. the new IE is damm sweet...

It might be better to compare WM 6.5 to Windows 7 instead of Vista.
Running Windows Vista on an old/slow computer is a horribly bad idea. However in beta testing Windows 7 I installed it on a Celeron M laptop with only 1gb of ram and it ran like a dream (without Aero). My boot up and loading times were equal to XP. So if WM 6.5 is designed correctly, it could work just fine on our devices.
The only thing that has me hesitating on 6.5 is that from reading the threads where this was first posted, this a very early release. Since it seems there will be a production version from MSFT floating around within another few weeks, maybe these memory issues will be more manageable, with perhaps some additional features? And no doubt there will be a DCD 6.5 eventually as well, either with this version or a later one.
Serious Props to those that are working hard to get it going now, but I have a feeling there will be better to work with in the near future.

What do you mean without hibernate? I guess that might be a noob question sorry. 25.6 would be even better than DCD roms. Wow.
hibernate refers to oxios hibernate which releases memory to help make your phone run faster

WM6.5 beta 4 has great memory management. I have been testing it for 17hrs now and am just blown away by its speed. IE8 is awesome. No more WM6.1, I have moved on, you will too, trust me.

the main part of 6.5 is done .. whats left is the interface, the build number
will may go up once the interface is added however there is no memory issues
I know of .. other than the first few beta 1-3 release that has the nueKernel
(a 3rd party programs that cause memory issues .. not the 6.5 kernel !!)
that add was removed from beta-4 and no more issues ..
Also note, after the new interface is added to WM6.5 I believe it will be strip out anyways
at it will be built for VGA or higher PDA's and even if there is a QVGA version
its going to require a ton of memory anyways!! what you will be left with is
whats out now anyways!! thus DCD 6.5 may end up being on this same built!!

Memory stick class=faster Android on HD2?

Hey guys. I checked it over the Internet but doesn't answers to my questions.
First of all i have an HD2 with Duttys Family Rom newest version (dec 2010) with JDMS 1.6.2 Ultimate and an 8GB class 2 Chinese sdhc card bought over eBay for about 10bucks. Anw, i am using Android as my Daily OS. When i press the power key to unlock the phone, it takes about 3-4 seconds for the screen to light up to the lock screen and a Green line appears as it opens.. Recendly my friend gave me his HD2 to sell it to another friend... As i checked the Android on his mobile it didn't have this "problem" as mine...I just pressed the power key and voila! Lock screen lights up immediately! He had EnergyRom wwe 18 Oct 2010, an old Radio 2.14.50... and an Android Sense version and a micro sd card 2gb...
My kind of noob questions are:
1)Does classes of micro cards do the thing? I mean it reads much faster the card and loads Android faster?
2)Is this because that Android Sense "uknown" version is "Sense" or something?
3)Does the kernel plays any role on Android versions?
4)HOW TO SOLVE THIS ANNOYING PROBLEM??
I tried everything..I am an atticted on flashing new roms, android and i have the latest radio 2.15.50 and a class 4 8gb card.. But still i have this lockscreen "problem" which is very Annoying!
Any suggestions? I saw some comments over here on several Android versions about this kind of "problem" but i didn't saw any solution to it! Thanks!
I am all ears guys! Help me out please!
In my opinion, it is more kernel related than card class. I am running Ultimate 1.62 on a class2 16gb, but with the kernel in parenthesis next to it in my sig, and I get no slow wakes. When I ran the same build on Hastarin's I got slow wakes, and more battery drain. Im not saying MDJ's kernel is better than Hastarin's, just that it seems to work better on that build. I would try switching kernels. I have actually seen quite a few people with class 6's posting complaints about Android freezing up, refusing to boot, and slow-waking too. Plus, it's alot cheaper to change kernels than to change sd cards. One other thing I do, is to install setcpu, and set a profile for screen off with a min and max mhz of 422 mhz. I know MDJ's kernel by default is a sleep speed of 245, I don't know what Hastarin's is set at, but at 422, I get no slow-wakes and my battery drain during sleep is still only 3-6 mA.
Just some little tips, hope they help
Great help man! Thank you very much!

[Q] stability question...

what is more stable for the HD2, Native WM6.5.x custom ROM (like Energy) or NAND Android (like hyperdroid cm7) or SD Android???
Android on HD2 is very stable even more so with the NAND version, but I keep on coming back to WM 6.5 though, the ROM I am using is Cleanex RV STD the reason Im sticking with this ROM is that it gives me more than 270 MB of internal space on start,so after installing so many apps its still left around 220 MB of internal storage.Besides it is super stable even more than Android nand, but since i am not a big gamer and have a Samsung Galaxy Tab 10.1 I am very happt with the WM.
I am sure someone will emberace and rehabiliate this OS back in the future.
WM6.5 & Energy have proved very stable to the point only time I pull a battery is to swap a SIM.
The Android ports are incredible work but they do have issues ... HD2 is good for getting a taste of Android or WM7 but for a fuller experience a newer device with these platforms OEM is a better experience

best just to go native whem my contract is up.

[Q] Best Stable ROM for x10i

Hey All,
What is the best stable (full featured) ROM for the x10i? Last ROM I installed was TEAM ROM v4.0 a year ago, recently upgraded to an S3 and am handing down old faithful to my daughter and want to get it running smoothly for her....she is technically inclined so I need something that is G2G no additional flashing or modding required. Any current recommendations appreciated...I realize that most ICS ROMS will be out of the questions...that is fine, GB = Happy. Thanks in advance.
PS - When I wiped the phone the home button lost its binding...working to wake the screen, but not as a multifunction button.
Hi bro,
if you like SONY's UI Achotjan V2 should be the best option, link :
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1690148
Some bugs was reported (MMS on some provider, Bravia Engine) fixed, try to find it on that thread.

I think the best ROM is donutHD. It's smooth(highest benchmark) and very stable.everything is working
Sent from my X10i using xda app-developers app
I agree with Jakuburban. DonatHD 2.2.9 is best GB rom for X10i. Recommendations......
Sent from my X10i using xda premium

Hay ..
all ROM for Xperia is good, but for ICS and JB there are some bugs. For example, Video Recording. If you intend to try but note that there is a problem faced by other users who have installed first.:silly:
Cm7zmod is the best, hands down. The performance offered by ZMOD eclipses all other gingerbread roms, even donutHD.
Achotjan Stock Remplacement Rom V2 is my best rom :good:
D
the best rom is donat hd
its smooth and stable and its jellybean/ics themed , its awesome
Few ROMs Usage - Comments
Hi all,
Just wanted to share a bit of my own personal experience with a few of the X10 roms i tried for some time.
Keep in mind that the daily use was more or less the same for all ROMs and is as follows:
Telephony(calls), data usage (both wifi & 3G), gaming (quite a lot actually), camera (videos + pics), music and even watching videos (rarely).
- Stock 2.3.3: used this for a long time, once it was officially released by SE. When i bought the X10 it had 1.6!! then went to 2.1.
Then i joined the xda family here. Anyways, the overall 2.3.3 rating was that UI is slow and battery drainage is high. (I even charged it twice during a single day!!!)
- CM7-ZMOD-003: used for months. Overall rating was that UI speed is noticeably much faster than stock, but battery drainage is slightly better than with stock 2.3.3.
What i did not like so much was that i had to add another launcher because most toggle widgets i use would not work on the built in loader. Don't know why.
- Then i went back to stock 2.3.3 and tried various themes, launchers (like GO EX, Galaxy S3) but this only made UI much slower (response) and battery drained faster.
The look was nice but as long as you add extra stuff, its only logic that the power drain increases and UI performance decreases.
- FeraLab*** ICS v4 (17/11/2012) - Finally, i wanted to try this (obviously)
Had to learn to unlock BL which was interesting and finally was able to do it ..(after reading carefully - many thanks to all who contribute).
Used it for a month until recently.
The major difference in my case, was that the battery drain was much much less than with any other ROM of the above. This is a major PLUS!.
The only downside was that UI is a little slower but this is expected as the 4.x OS needs more power to sustain, since the X10 was not built for 4.x OS.
Another major factor for me was that, some of the games i played on any 2.x.x OS, will not run on the 4.x OS, like Plants vs Zombies (which is one of my favorites),
I have 3 different apk's saved but either of them work on ICS. Probably they are written for 2.x OS only.
So, now i'm back to stock 2.3.3 and will try a few other candidates that are in xda and see if i finally decide to stay on one, or simply buy a newer phone and more powerful one.
Since i am rather new at all this, i would also like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who contributes to xda in any way.
Just wanted to share something back.

Eros

If you have the money, go for a new phone. The X10 is more like a ghost these days. Or you could try CM10 by scritch007, which everyone says is really smooth. There's also donutHD, which will give a good stock-based ROM (imo not nearly as smooth as ZMOD, but has better battery life). Or you could try on of the gaming ROMs, those are sure to have the maximum free RAM available..

Few question about Android/RAM/Samsung.

Hello. First - sorry for very bad english. I dont been here long time. I have few questions, bcs I am curious.
I used before serious PC machines with Windows 2008 r2 Servers. Also Cent OS. So I am not so big Android expert but I know few things. I also used maybe 20 windows mobile phones before.
So I am limited with lang but I will try to explain problems. I will be little android hater. I haved HTC Tytn 2 for years. He haved 128 MB rams and with some lite/custom roms he run 40 apps without lag on Windows Mobile 6.1
Okay. My favourite Windows OS died so I must move on Android. Okay Samsung Touch Wiz / Android is cool experience. But only UI. I haved s2/s3mini/s3/s3 neo (at this moment)/s4 mini.
So why android suck ? On s2 we have android 2.3.6 (great) and mostly 4.1.2. First work incredible (so much free ram + older apps) nad 4.1.2 work great until last days. I mean today you cant run 3 apps and android close previous apps. Boring. 1 gb ram for what ?! Why Android consume so much ram ? For what ? Okay Android is cool, nice UI, but 1 gb on nothing ?!?! Okay. I understand foreground/background/cached process. I mean no matter how much new device you have.
RAM kill you !!! Later I buy s3 with quad - he suck. He consume more ram. Btw I root all devices and use scripts to debloat and I also alone remove apps/services. S3 is nice phone if you want to run 2-3 modern apps.
Cached process sucks. They slow down phones like hell. Okay I sold bad s3 and buy s4 mini.
Great phone 1.5 gb ram, solid dual core.... but we actually have 1.35 ram and 906 MB used on stock rom. Lol. I make serious debloat on 4.2.2 (brazilian) bcs stupid Samsung dont allow downgrade from even worse 4.4.2.
So after very serious debloat, scripts and lot of learning I make my best result. 312 MB ram USED from 1350 MB.
Super fast experience. I run 24 apps instant on stock debloated rom. I googled every stupid process. I removed almost everything expect contacts/sms/gallery.... I haved 9 icons. Only 5 active process. Super fast.
But after some time superamoled lose colors (i used him all day like PC) and my eyes was hurted so much. So I buy new s3 neo.
1.5 GB ram (1.35 available). On stock (no provider) rom he use 800 MB. From 1.35 GB. After 2 apps he is sooooooo super slow. And this is "smartphone" ?!?!?!? I cant run few stupid apps ? Bcs of lack of ram ?
Okay I modified script from s4 mini from Jelly Bean and I removed everything on Kit Kat. Result is 512 MB used from 1350. Okay. Not so bad.
I also save 20 GB old apps. They consume much less memory. So I installed same apps like on s4 mini with 4.2.2.
On s3 Neo with 4.4.2 they consume much moreeeeeeeee ram. Phone is super fast until you run browser + 2-3 apps. After that ram move on 1 GB used and he never user 0.35 GB. Limit is 1.35 GB.
So I am curious what is hell wrong with android ? If I dont have money to buy device with 3 GB ram I am in serious trouble to run smothly few android apps.
So from my personal experience expect pure CPU power, even Windows Mobile 6.1 with 128 MB ram do tasks lot better than android with 1.5 GB ram. Even my Tytn 2 run 30 much serious apps then simple android on 128 mb ram with no problem.
Every year we got new devices, new Android OS and more slower phones. I mean come on. For what android spend all my ram (expect stupid cashing) and make phone damn slow for every simple multitasking with few apps ?!?!
Only 2 android os what was good are : S2 with old 2.3.6 (old apps - blazing fast) and s4 mini 4.2.2 (serious debloat).
With my last phone s3 neo I am disapointed. He consume damn so much ram even if he is serious debloated (500 ram of 1350 usage). After 3 apps he slow down. For me is Android huge fail.
So I want to move on on Windows Phone. I always used HTC WM and Samsung Android.
I dont care for options and new os. I want to run super smooth browser, irc, image browser, badoo and to listen YT. That is all. So can someone reccomend me any newer phone (not new) what can do few simple tasks without lag ? Even HTC Tytn 2 work better than s3 neo (expect Popcorn movies - hardware). I really need new platform and good multitasking.
And why the hell Samsung make so good and bad phones in ssme time ? Amoled is best, specs are good but android sucks in every sence. Multitasking ZERO. Ram consumption WORST, performance downgrade after few even older apps HUGE.
I like s3 neo like phone. But I want simple stock os with 1 GB ram free ! Not to fill ram with 2 stupid apps. I dont have money for galaxy s5/s6. Android like OS on MY PERSONAL NOOB oppinion is worst experience.
Which phone to buy and what about Windows Phone ? WP look bad (ugly) but if he is half good like WM I will change OS. I only want multitaking sith minimal 10 apps running without problem.
