Best dcd rom? - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

This is my first thread and i was wondering what is the best DCD Rom for the Mogul. I would appreciate ur opinion. Thank you.

For me, 3.2.6, and 4.1.2.
It really depends on how you use the phone and the apps you use. I have no issues at all with 4.1.2..

why dont you try them all then come back and tell us, there is really no point in trying to compare them all. people get upset about that

I have been with 3.3.4 for a long time, and its pretty much the ROM I'm sticking to until I get a new phone, or something amazing comes out (like a very stable 6.5 build).

3.2.6 works great for me.

I'm using 4.1.2 right now. I have only a couple small issues with it; the dialer is kind of ugly, the version of IE it has doesn't render pages as well as an older DCD (although finger scrolling is cool), I can no longer select multiple emails in Outlook via tap and drag, and I can't get Internet sharing to work even though it did on older DCD builds. Otherwise it is rock solid and snappy. I'm happy with it until a good 6.5 ROM comes out that has ICS and working ActiveSync.

Do you know what the last DCD ROM that was able to select multiple items in Outlook by tap and drag was? Anyone still have the kitchen for said version? 3.2.6 also has the new behaviour.

3.3.4 had it. I was using that build before 4.1.2.

DCD 3.1.1 and 3.1.2 problem

I've been somewhat silent on the forums but look at them everyday for updates and whatnot. I'm not new to flashing roms and everything but I cannot figure out this problem.
When I upgraded to DCD's 3.1.1 and then 3.1.2 I've noticed without doing anything on the phone the phone application opens itself. I dealt with it for a little while but its becoming a little annoying.
Programs I have installed:
SPB Pocket Plus 4.02
S2U2 1.01
Oxios Memory
HTC Album
Touchflo
Touchflo Config
Regedit
Today clock(made by someone in xda forums)
several have observed - just reload the dialer; worked 4 me!
No it's not the dialer that has to be reloaded. It's SPB. Uninstall SPB and then see if your problems go away.
I've tried reinstalling SPB, doesn't fix anything. Seems to happen more often after I've sent a text message? Also before I installed any programs it ran the phone app by itself, which makes me think its something to do with the rom more than my apps.
I'm having this same problem and I agree that it is annoying. I recently updated to dcd 3.1.2 from 3.0.1 with Sprint, and installed the same software as before. The only thing that has really changed is the ROM version.
Is there a cab somewhere to replace/reinstall the dialer?

It's a problem with SPB as I said. Reinstalling SPB will not fix the problem, you need to uninstall it and keep it uninstalled. Test to see if the problem is fixed WITHOUT SPB. It's not a problem with the rom.
Nope - it's the dialer. I'll see if I can find the link; it was posted in the main 3.1.2 thread soemwhere.

Alright well if you don't want to listen to me then that's your choice, but I can tell you right now the problem is NOT the dialer and is SPB. Installing a different dialer on top of the one you have now is a temporary fix and will most likely alter your dialer functions. I'm done arguing about it though so gl.
This was the post I found:
"Just install a new dialer (there are lots of them around in cab form) and that will solve both of your problems (EPST and the dialer popping up). I used "Wizard+reTouched_Dialer2". Google it."
The link I used is http://rapidshare.com/files/73141135/reTOUCHed_Dialer2.cab
Fixed it for me anyway
gcincotta - ur right as usual - it did alter my dialing properties - I lost "plus 1" dialing capability.

Ok well you're not listening to me. YES THIS WILL "FIX" YOUR DIALER POPUP PROBLEM. That dialer breaks the smart functions of the dialer. The actual problem lies with SPB and has NOTHING to do with the dialer. If you uninstall SPB, which is the ACTUAL fix, then your dialer popup will be fixed and you won't have a broken dialer. To each his own though I guess.

I know that this is off topic, but can I ask you something? When you say "lost plus 1 dialing" are you saying that you could dial an international number by dialing plus instead of 011? I have wanted this functionality ever since I went from GSM to CDMA. Please tell if its true or if you meant something else.
There's much to much back and forth nonsense on this forum lately, so I'm not going to add to it. But I will tell you, that with pocket plus 4.02 and this dialer installed:
http://forum.ppcgeeks.com/showpost.php?p=291902&postcount=50
the problem goes away without affecting smart dialing or +1 dialing-FOR ME. So, as in the other cases, I'd say its fine to express an opinion about how YOUR phone works with your settings and programs, no one can state absolutes, since everyone has different setups.

Yes, this dialer seems to work without breaking the dialer functions.
I wasn't telling him what to do. I wasn't even telling him that by installing another dialer it wouldn't fix the problem. I was stating that the problem itself is not the dialer, and is SPB. That is not an opinion. What people do to their phones is their business.
Well...like i said before this happend BEFORE i installed any programs, which is why i dont think it is spb. BUT, since you think is it SPB, what can i do to fix the problem without changing dialers and without removing SPB. I've never had this problem before the 3.x.x series roms and i would like to keep SPB because of the functionality. Thanks
I don't agree either that it is SPB, because its only shown up on this build, and I have run other builds without this problem. Wouldn't give up SPB. but know of no other way to fix the problem without loading a different dialer.

Ok well if you don't agree that it's SPB that's fine. We can agree to disagree.
I will however say that it's a fact that it's not a problem with the dialer. As I've said before, I've been part of the rigorous testing of 3.0.6 (test build that was never released), 3.1.0 (test build that was never released), 3.1.1, and 3.1.2, all before they are released on here. I've flashed 3.1.2 close to 40 times now both through testing and after release, on two different devices (Verizon xv6800 and Sprint Mogul) and I've never seen this problem arise on a clean rom build (see jpeg attached to see included items in BuildOS for clean build).
I have had this issue as well and I do not use any SPB software. It seems to happen after I send sms messages.
have to concur. I noticed this too. Now I upgraded directly from 2.12 and I do not run and SPB apps.
In my instance I also get PIE and other apps opening. Messaging could be the culprit, seems like I have seen this happen before.
I run on Today
Wisbar
iLauncher
PocketBreeze
PhoneWeaver
Other Apps
Pocket CM and various non active apps.
I am going to try and forcibly minimize messenger via wisbar and see what happens
The only answer then is that one of SPB's dependencies matches something that you people without any SPB software installed have on your devices.

nueROM3 vs. DCD 3.3.4

Has anyone compared DCDs newest ROM (3.3.4) to the latest nueROM3? Now that Scrosler is no longer going to produce new ROMs for us, I am running Update 20 of Manila 2D on nueROM3 (produced via kitchen). However, just curious how that compares, as far as stability goes, to DCDs latest. I always liked DCDs work, but had to start using nueROM awhile ago because of memory.
Anyone ran the latest of these two and can offer an unbiased opinion?
I've been doing my own M2D+nueROM3 for a while now.
I have to say, if you spend the time and patience, you can end up with a beautiful build. I'm very happy with mine right now.
As far as comparing to DCD 3.3.4, I haven't messed with 3.3.4 and refuse to do so without the kitchen.
Do you have an opinion on the new PocketIE yet?
scrawnyb: I'm finding the same thing so far, not too bad with latest nueROM3 + Manila 2D Update 20, but since DCDs ROMs are usually very stable, just wanted to see what others thought.
Personally, I think the new IE looks good, but it is just TOOOOO slow! Obviously was designed for a machine with more memory. So most of the time I just stick with Opera Mini; however, there are times when I have to use IE simply because the site only works on IE, or it is simply safer to use a stand-alone browser (like when going to mobile bank site). Personally, I wish I could reinstall the old IE Mobile - you know of a way to do that with nueROM3?
I perfer nuerom's memory management over DCD 3.3.4. Not to mention being able to turn the camera off and start at 28 megs free.
After trying both for a week without M2D installed and a week with M2D installed I find that 3.3.4 has pretty much no memory leaks, where 3pre3 had terrible memory leaks. 3.3.4 would boot for me at about 27 Mb and after a few days wold only leak down to 25 at idle (few days without a soft reset). Same situation with 3pre3 would have me booting at 32 Mb and leaking down to about 25 after a few days (no soft reset either).
With M2d installed and configured how I like, 3pre3 would boot at 26Mb and would leak down to about 21 Mb by the end of the day. 3.3.4 with the exact same configuration boots at about 21Mb and after a few days has not leaked down past 20 Mb.
I took all memory samples the same way: Fresh installs of ROMs, added my preferred cabs (Java, one game, skyfire, etc...) soft reset then waited for full boot. Closed all programs in task manager and used oxios hibernate. Then after a few days, just soft reset and used oxios hibernate. Then I did the same process, (I started with a hard reset on both ROMS) and installed the same apps and then M2D without opera mobile.
Only thing I wished I would have done was to take screen shots so I could have posted them.
Although 3pre3 does have more RAM at boot in both cases,I think I am still going to run 3.3.4 until the next version of nuerom comes out to try. I dont mind soft resetting every day, but if i ever forgot to with 3pre3 i would eventually get some out of memory error messages until I reset. So far after about a week with 3.3.4 I have not had any error messages after a few days just closing apps down, no reset.
DCD just has rock solid ROMs, what more can we say but a big Thank you?
I forgot to mention that 3pre3 with camera enabled had less available RAM than 3.3.4 in both cases. Only 1~2 Mb difference but it was worth mentioning.
Also I cooked different versions of ROMs with M2d in the kitchen and they were the absolute worst on memory leaks. I still use cab installs from the M2d thread, still using update 19b files and procedure. seems to work good on my device.

Agreed very nice work I used nueROM3 and DCD and am sticking with 3.3.4 but thats just my two cents
My testing may be skewed slightly and I apologize. I cooked MSVC into 3pre3 and have been reading that has a few memory leaks. 3.3.4 has no voice command, and it would not be fair to add a cab VS. cooking with an oem between the two ROMs. I also added MS office apps for work by cab to 3pre3, although they did not seem to have any memory leaks as far as I could tell.
I was trying to be as subjective as possible, but those were two Items I had completely forgot about this morning when I typed this
Also, if running M2D I always disable the weather, search and music tabs as I launch programs from the launcher tab to do these tasks. The weather tab alone causes much memory leakage and always has since I first ran M2D. Also I quit installing Opera mobile because it hogs memory and messes with HTML file opening, so I have been using the new M2DC program to map the internet tab to opera mini, which runs great.
When it comes down to it, I guess it is hard to compare two great ROMs from different builders as for the end user (me in this case) the programs were installed differently with different versions in different ways.
Sorry if I mislead anybody, but my setup with 3.3.4 seems to be more stable still. Maybe I should write a tutorial for how I got my device set up with success I really have not done anything super fancy with programming, and have not touched the reg editor with either rom. I think the average user like me would benefit from using DCD's latest if they like M2D.
Just my .02
I tried 3.3.4 for a few days after using pre3 for about a month. I always like DCD ROMs, but I also like having more memory. On 3.3.4, I found that windows mobile would close opera when I changed opened other programs, while this would happen less so with pre3.
A few days later, the new nueROM came out. I tried it for a few days, but the internet explorer drove me crazy. I use Beyondpod for podcasts, and that program is based on internet explorer. It changed Beyondpod layout (which I learned how to fix in the registry), and seemed to have more connection problems.
So now I am back to pre3. My biggest complaint is nueROM has that touch-like finger scrolling, which I hate cause it means I can't highlight. I've looked high and low over the internet to no avail.
as far as memory leaks, I have to phone set up to reset every 4am (and close my flashcard program). I never really checked to see how much leaking there is, and just started the daily resets a couple of days ago.

TUTORIAL PLZX!
Well, after reading all this, I think I am going to reflash and give the new DCD ROM a try. Although nueROM3 is great, I also think there is some memory leaks somewhere - I go from 25MB sometimes down to 13MB with nothing but M2D loaded, even without VC - plus, I hate the new IE! It is so VERY slow - I use Opera Mini but for the times I absolutely need to use IE I can't with this new version.
I'll let you know what I think once I run it for awhile.
Well, I am thinking about going back the other way, as when I installed windows live cab I always use, it really ****ed up my contacts. it attached all my onlive hotmail contacts to existing entries in my phonebook, none of which were correct. This means windows live (3 different current versions I have tried) messenger does not work, as does dialing by name. there are too many additions to the contact list. I hard reset 3.3.4 and reloaded all my contacts and went through the whole install again and it still occurs.
Great ROM, but tha twas a deal breaker. I think I may try 3pre3 again, but try tweaking it all i can to keep those memory leaks down. At least then I can keep my contacts seperated
I am not writing a tutorial here, that was kind of a joke. there are tutorials for loading cabs for any program you would like on here, just search and find them. Me finding problems weeks after loading roms is why I am no developer by any means. Saved you all the hassle of re-writing your contcts!

Windows live synced contacts IS a major snafu. But hey, you get what you pay for. I use my Exchange for all my contacts. Never a problem.
Whenever I install windows live I ALWAYS uncheck sync contacts. The problem is that everytime you open up contacts on the mogul, it starts an internet connection to sync with your Live contacts. So your contacts look empty until it syncs. This can take a LONG time.
Hope this helps...
Chuck
XDA member tends to lean toward DCD because he releases his work here and is more geared toward stability.
If you start same same exact post over at ppcgeeks, I bet nueROM is preferred by users, cause he releases overthere.
bottomline
DCD = lean solid ROM, no flashy junk that usully causes leaks and problem ; for advance users
NueTOM = ROM with nice goodies; but goodies comes with baggage (i.e. few memory leaks, occasional crashes, soft reset); recommended for intermediate users.
Well, I am thinking myself about going back to nueROM. Not that I don't like DCDs work - it is great - but with 3.3.4 there still seems to be some memory leaks (keeps going down). I also heard that DCD kinda rushed the 3.3.4 release just to get it out there because of the pressure. Plus, I love the extra memory that nueROM gives me.
However, the one thing that really bugs me with nueROM is that in his latest unified kitchen he included that stupid new mobile IE browser - that thing is the slowest pig in the world! I use Opera Mini for most of my browsing, but when I do need IE it is just too frustrating. Would rather keep the old IE on there. Anyone know if there is a cab somewhere that will replace the new IE with the older mobile IE version.
Anyway, I may go back to nueROM for the time being but when DCD makes his next new ROM then I may try it again.

I found this on the nueruom thread. I tried it with the latest neurom, and internet explorer seemed to work like the old IE. That of course didn't help me. My problem is with BeyondPod, my podcast player, which relies on IE for it's formatting. That was still messed up. So I am using nueROM pre3, which has the old IE. I am addicted to the extra RAM.
if using a kitchen, remove the folder BROWSINGIE from the core before cooking. The browser defaults to pIE instead of IE6.
Apparently, IE6 is just a bunch of plugins and junk that sits atop pocketIE. If you remove them, pie is still there.
Works better this way than installing a .cab, and I've found myself able to do all the stuff that ie6 broke (flash bundle, logmein, etc).
nueCPL Kernel
Hi all,
I just tried the nuerom -m for titan. Earlier I was on DCD 3.3.4, which i think is better than nuerom. One feature that i liked in nuerom is of - disabling camer and using high memory by nueCPL kernel. Is this possible on DCD Rom 3.3.4. It fress up almost 5mb of Ram and camera is used very rarely so it can be disabled. Any body to help.
Regards
Tarun
no you cannot rescue the RAM that the camera uses in dcd roms.

I built this ROM from the eRice Kitchen and the VZW OEM pack I created. Its not totally clean nor is it a bloated either. I amoved away from the 100% stock look. THis is just a good mix of tools and sensor apps while retaining a fairly stock look. I changed the default today theme and the modified the Verizon TouchFlow 3D look. I removed the internet, music and photo's tab for memory and speed. They can be added back in by the included TF3D Config.

You will note I added all my extra apps in Sensor Apps and Utilities keeping the Programs folder a little cleaner. You can also see that I mapped Contacts (iContacts to be exact) to the left softkey when on the home page. Thats a must have for me becuase I dont use the contacts tab.
Flashed and running nicely, seems off the bat more the smoothest to date, haven't yet done much customization but from just walking through it, it seems to me that it is actually reclaiming ram from closed apps a bit better, but could just be that new rom feel Did you happen to add the htc update to this one by any chance or will i still need to install that?, all in all impressive as usual. Thanks for your hard work and mad kudo's.
Don't you sleep?
I will be trying the ROM either later today or tomorrow.
I look forward to reporting nothing but AWESOMEness back.
Awesome man, we all really appreciate your hard work. Havent tried out your new Rom yet, still pleased with your Rev 1 . Do look forward to the screenshots though, sounds tempting.
Nice rom! Thanks for supporting VZW TP!
can someone link me the stock vzw rom...not the prerelease that i found on ppcgeeks sticky page, i plan on exchanging vzw tp and receive a replacement due to hardware issue so would like official release. Thanks. I already searched as well...might have missed it tho.
I just put your rom on and love it! I have been installing everything you are putting out. My memory usage was exactly the same as yours. One issue I am trying to figure out is vznav is not working. It was working for me in your previous build but not this one. The error I am getting is that "there was a problem initializing the GPS. Please exit and restart vz navigator."
Any ideas? I set the location to on, I have checked my account and I have vz nav with verizon.
Thanks,

I just put your rom on and love it! I have been installing everything you are putting out. My memory usage was exactly the same as yours. One issue I am trying to figure out is vznav is not working. It was working for me in your previous build but not this one. The error I am getting is that "there was a problem initializing the GPS. Please exit and restart vz navigator."
Any ideas? I set the location to on, I have checked my account and I have vz nav with verizon.
Thanks,
Mike

That happens when you first instawll and launch it. Typical. Takes me three times and I am good ;c) Has done that on the stock ROM for me as well as my own cooked ROMS. After it initializes and sets itself up its good from then on.
Glad it's running though. Would sound stupid calling the VZNav ROM if VZ Nav didint work! hahahahaha

can someone link me the stock vzw rom...not the prerelease that i found on ppcgeeks sticky page, i plan on exchanging vzw tp and receive a replacement due to hardware issue so would like official release. Thanks. I already searched as well...might have missed it tho.

That is the stock ROM. I now it says pre-relewase but its the same verision that came on the phone. I looked at this very closely before I flashed for the first time. Trust me, you can use that to send the phone back. Many people already have.

It should be a little bit faster. Not a placebo affect if that is what you think. I added some of my tweaks and some tweaks from all over th enet. Nothing major... Just things like glyphe cache, services, etc. I also bumped up the touch sensitivity just a hair. That alone makes the phone feel 10 times faster. A little here and there is all it takes on this phone. Its has soo much potential.
Hey Scott,
Do you have something against the state of Washington?
j/k - FYI Weather tab Washington shows blank for all cities. Not that I live there,... but since it's usually raining in Seattle I like to have that city on there for the graphics of the windshield wiper.
Great ROM - not a huge fan of iContacts, but that's probably just because I haven't used it too much.
When I first powered up - it seemed very jittery and laggy,... but now - after I installed my core apps, it acts much better. I performed NO additional tweaks or anything - just rebooted after restoring all my data and logs.
Did notice that SMS sent notification is BACK,... I have to go find that registry edit and take that out again (very annoying). And Opera is not the default browser (I actually prefer that) but I didn't know if that was intentional or just happened? PIE seems to load so much faster when clicking a link in e-mail,... but Opera has all those neat features.
I like the new look with the new icons and the flip clock! Thanks for that!
Keep up the great work - truly do appreciate it!!
Thanks for that info Scrosler!
Disable SMS notification

I hate the state of washington. No just kidding! I dont know why it did that. I used the same weather database I used in my last ROM. i will look at it tonight.
The reason it seems slow and laggy on first boot is because it is. I dont know if it was a good idea to have TouchFlow launch during first boot and autoinstall but i did.... Heheh... but like you said, after that it is fine. The lag isnt very bad as long as you wait for everything to load first. Thats my biggest challange. Getting the boot time down. Not sure how to make that great yet.....
The flip clock is indeed nice ;c)
Sorry you are not a big fan of iContact. I think I have tried every contact app and liked this one best. I will post the kitchen sometime this weekend and you can always cook one without it. I also need mod my site to include the link to the VC ROM. I will do that tonight. I know alot of peeps use VC but I hate it. Never ever recognizes my voice for anything at all. I dont get it.
Thanks for the feedback and I am glad you are enjoying it!

Cool, here is the cab that I OEM'ed. I dont know how I left that out... My bad!
I also included a cab for Start Clean. This erases your recently used programs from start menu everytime you boot. I love it. I hate the MRU set up.

Sleep? WTF is that? No just kidding. I have two modes for ROM building.
Tinker mode which is at my leisure. Sleep normally and only work on the ROM at home. Then there is XDA mode where I litterally dont sleep for two or three days and just keep coooking all night long like a meth addict! Thats usually starts on Friday night and ends on SUnday night around 3:00am Monday morning! hahaha.
This weekend will be chill though. Just going to sit back and wait for comments to roll in to see how I did with this ROM and go from there.

Yeah, you may or may not like this ROM as I did detract from the stock look and feel just a little bit. But on the same note its the quickest Rom yet and has more available memory with no missing features.
I will try to get a couple screenshots up in a few. Sorta busy with crap at work today. Let me see if I have My Mobilier on this work machine. I forget....... Long night last night. hehehehe....
EDIT: Ok I got the home screen and App screen up. Let me know what else you may want to see before flashing....

[9/4/2012] Titan Reloaded M2D 1.3.4 with Kitchen (continuing Round 4 Reloaded devel)

Scott (scrosler) gave me permission to branch off development of his M2D Round 4 Reloaded ROM, since he'd officially abandoned his Titan development. He's having too much fun with his new Touch Pro ROM cooking.
STABLE BRANCH 1.3.4 [02/20/2009]
These first releases of what I'm calling Titan Reloaded is pretty similar to his loaded ROM and just includes some minor updates and tweaks, which are detailed on the download page here:
http://www.pdamag.com/roms/
Instructions and caveats here:
http://www.pdamag.com/rom-install-instructions/
Titan Reloaded 1.3.4 is out and contains tons of changes, check them out!
Thanks to xda-developers and members scrosler, dcd1182, and no2chem.
I'm starting this thread to support the users of this branch. Thank you for trying it.
FAQ
Q: When I switch to lanscape mode, or open the keyboard, why doesn't M2D switch to landscape?
A: Lanscape mode isn't supported in M2D, and I can't add it, since I didn't write it and don't have the source.
Q: Why doesn't the flash on the camera work?
A: The version 5 camera is installed by default as it seems to take better pictures, and it doesn't support flash. If you want the flash back, download the kitchen instead of the standard ROM and customize your ROM before flashing it with the version 4 camera. I challenge you to show me a picture that came out better with the puny "flash" on this camera, though.
Q: Why doesn't the "ok" hardware button open the start menu?
A: I haven't figured that out myself. It seems that M2D takes control of that hardware button and I can't fix it. Try using the start menu hardware button instead.
Q: I'm having a problem with the stable branch, how do I get help?
A: There are no known issues. First try doing a hard reset after flashing (hold both softkeys, the hardware buttons with dots on them in while pressing in the reset button with your stylus. Then press the hardware R and space keys when prompted.) Then try to reproduce your problem without installing any custom software in the kitchen or after flashing. If you can reproduce it, please provide the steps to reproduce in the forum and ask for assistance.

BETA BRANCH 1.4b2 [02/20/2009]
Also check out the 1.4 beta 2 which upgrades 2DManila (including footprints), HTC Album, and HTC Audio Manager from a new HTC release. Also included the previously missing Audio Booster. Upgraded Youtube with working finger scroll. Now using default theme, which can still be changed from M2DC. Also installed the Volume Control. The carrier cabs have been upgraded and are now installed under My Documents by default. No more app bundle installed. I haven't tested those apps with the new Manila. I also upgraded the sys files to new OS version.
Because it may not be obvious, to non-software developers. The beta ROM probably has bugs. I need feedback to fix them. Please don't run it if you don't find it fun beta testing. If you want stable, please go with 1.3.4 for now.
http://www.pdamag.com/downloads/TitanReloaded_1.4b2.rar
There are a lot of known issues with the beta at this time:
1. In call volume adjustment doesn't work (some report this works though?)
2. Custom cities in weather tab may not work?
3. If your phone gets stuck on vibrate, go into Start->Settings->Phone-> and Change to Ring.
Update 09/04/2012 - Kitchen is available for beta.
Thanks!
cant wait for the kitchen since i need SIP change and Data backup in my phone at all times. thanks for keeping this going for us xv6800 users
bitserve: thanks for keeping the Titan ROMs alive.
bitserve, thanks for your work. it's good to see what started (which is freaking awesome, by the way!!), will continue. happy holidays to you all.
What are the two issues and quickfixes?
From bitserve's site:
TitanReloaded 1.0 Known Issues [12/16/2008]
* Location tab search doesn’t open GoogleMaps. A quick fix is to copy \Program Files\GoogleMaps\GoogleMaps.exe to \Windows

Wish I had a Titan so I could te.... On second thought. I will just say Good Job and thanks for keeping the Titan scene going!
Im not giving up my TP for anything ;c)
I just started looking again at the different ROM's out there since I had a few days to try and update things again on my phone.
I flashed this yesterday and have noticed a few things. I will list some of them.
The interface is very nice. The app shortcuts are easily added to the application page. Colors are customizable and are easily seen.
My phone seems to react very slowly to the bluetooth and the music app would not even open. Not sure why? There needs to be a regedit app installed. The quick access menu that I've been used to is gone, would be nice to see the Contacts and some of the others that are in the "start" menu that are used frequently still show up there. The used applications are cleared when the phone is shut off and restarted, so when you try to get to a previously used app, you need to go back through the menu selections to find it again. A GPS app would be nice as well. I couldn't get the Google Maps to find any satellites though. I know the phone with Verizon can be a little finicky for GPS at times. Although I did have it working a while back with a different install and was great.
The camera and photo viewer are SWEET. They work very well. I may have to try a different build and see how that works for the time being, but will be back when there are a few other mod's to this one. It looks very promising.
Also, my kids grabbed my phone and were disappointed that there weren't any games other than the default MS ones.
A couple more things I noticed, are that the battery indicator did have colors to it (very nice), although the number of bars didn't change and I ran it to nothing thinking I was also getting incredible battery life. Theclock seemed to lock up and not update.
I recently changed from a Hermes to the 6800 and have been looking for the perfect ROM (for me). I have to tell you I found it. This is the first ROM I have tried that everything works and is set up for my needs. Thank you & looking forward to your next update.
This is sweet..I have some questions
How do I get the OK button (side) working on the home page? Basically to open the start menu like in the OEM roms?
Also I have the callhistory.exe file how to I get the Voice button to open it?
Another thing is how to I make the scroll bar on the side wider?

OK to add to this, I installed the ROM pack and now mthe phone works funny.
The dialer display cuts off some numbers and the right hand scroll bar in the folders acts funny. also the Screen align does not work.
(I installed everything in the rom pack) Maybe I should of done one at a time.

Well, I'm not sure it needs to be in the ROM. However, as I get further away from scott's original ROM, I'll be installing some freeware apps that I use regularly that I consider must haves. One will have a registry editor.

I doubt that I'll ever add quick menu to this ROM, but I'll start offering a kitchen soon. I actually like the startclean app. I don't turn my phone off very often. When I do, it's because I want to clear everything.

I just had to test and was surprised to find that worked from the today screen. My phone has a start button, which I always used for this. It looks like TouchFlo takes control of the OK button. Sorry. I'd recommend using the start button on your phone, if you have one. I'll fix it if I can.

This worked on the stock ROM? From the today screen, this seems to open the voice memo recorder for me. You might try a hardware button configuration program.

I believe that scott made the scroll bar narrower, because this ROM was mostly supposed to be navigatable by finger. I would recommend using the scroll wheel or the dpad when possible. I actually prefer to have more screen than more scroll bar. However, here are the registry tweaks:
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\GWE]
"cyHScr"=dword:13
"cxVScr"=dword:13
"cyVScr"=dword:13
"cxHScr"=dword:13
You'll be able to disable the narrow scroll bar in the kitchen. You can also install a 12 pixel scroll bar from the included ROM pack, under Apps.

Well, in my version, the Task Manager is already installed in the ROM. I wouldn't recommend installing the cab for it. Truthfully, the only other cab that I've tested is the Opal Style Comm Manager, which works fine. I don't care for the other apps.
You should definitely install them one at a time. I'm not sure how to even install multiple cabs at one time. You likely only want to install one carrier cab, also. My screen align works fine.
Great work. Looking forward eagerly to the next release, and the kitchen.
I have a problem. When I set up my gmail on my phone it won't receive messages. It always worked on DCD and I don't understand why it would just up and quit working. I haven't tried any other emails though because they changed the system at work from groupwise to exchange and I don't know the new servers since I am on break til the 5th. Has anyone been able to set up email on their phones? I feel so disconnected.
When is the next update going to be released? It is after the holidays.
Happy New Year!
I'm getting the same issue as Elizle. Pocket Outlook is having trouble connecting with the incoming mail server. Connecting to Gmail IMAP using FlexMail seems to work, but I'm not accustomed to its interface. I miss the integration with M2D.

It's weird that you're both having problems with gmail. I guess I'll have to get a gmail account and see if I can figure out the problem. If anything, I would expect this ROM to work better, as I included "Windows Mobile 6.1 Hotfix for Sending POP and IMAP E-mail (KB958639)". I'll let you know what I find. Thanks for the feedback.

[Q] Help! stable Leo needed!

Hi all - first post on xda - please be gentle ;-)
Can anyone suggest what may be the most stable setup on the HD2? the constant freezing is starting to make the phone unusable for me as I use it for work and before I move to something else I thought I'd ask some advice on a better setup.
I have had WM machines (pocket PC) for a long while mainly Ipaq and my last 4150 worked for years without a hitch - couple of screen taps and any info I needed was there quickly mainly excel spread sheets e-mails and schedule, the thing never missed a beat in years. The HD2 seemed the ideal phone replacement.
I have not gone mad with the phone it is pretty stock with a couple of usable mods (CHT and editor etc) every day or so, maybe twice a day I press the on button to bring up the lock screen and it freezes - always when I need it most - it freezes in a particular way ie I can see the taskbar at the top, MENU and PHONE on the bottom (which "react" when pressed but do not bring up the function) and blank screen in between - it needs a soft reset - I have installed the endkey long press which works but this always happens when I need the information quickly and waiting for it to reboot is not quick enough
I would dearly miss co0kies home tab and the couple of mods but if a standard ROM is the best so be it (was going to try the vodafone 1.72 ROM) - or is there a real stripped down ROM that is simple and stable removing all the baggage on the standard ROM. I've never done it but I'm not averse to having a go at cooking a ROM if it will get me what I need
I use all the "business" type functions - dont need twitter/facebook/footprints etc would really use the documents Tab
ROM 1.66.405.2 (76641) WWE
Radio 2.06.51.07
Manila 2.5.19211619.0
Co0kies home tab 1.8.5
CHT editor 1.8.5.1
Resco Registry add in
Resco explorer
Skype
SPB Backup
Avian waves BattlineSvc
Microsoft .NET CF 3.5
Windows marketplace
Each time it locks up I'm getting fed up of friends/colleagues swiping their Iphones at me going "look! mine doesn't do that"
I like the HD2 I'd like to be able to say "but yours doesn't do all this" with all the extra capabilities - instead I seem to be always rebooting - waiting for sense to launch
I don't want to lose the HD2 and its capabilities but If I cant get it to be a bit more stable the Desire is looking tempting or even (wash my mouth out with soap) an Iphone?
Any thoughts or suggestions would be really appreciated
My hd2 became unstable when i had cookies home tab, its been solid as a rock since I uninstalled it, give it a go, I don't miss it anyway.
oh, and if they want proof, my friend has had the same locking up issues on 6 replacement iphones. it crawls to a halt then refuses to react, so he has to wait until the battery goes flat as he can't reset it...
You might want to try moving up to the 1.72 wwe rom and try that with and without cht, perhaps even try rolling back to an older version of cht.
I used to suffer the lockscreen freezing on the stock 1.66 rom.
I cant remember if it persisted after moving to the 1.72 im afraid, I dont think it did though.....
Does it only freeze when using the cht lockscreens?
HardSPL your phone and flash-
http://www.vbnfiles.com/xda/g_lewarne/CleanEx/CleanEX%20Core655%203.50.7z
CHT works fine along with anything else I have thrown at the ROM!
Stable as a rock and is an excellent dive board into Android as well.
For extra "cut down" disable sense and run Resco today plug-in as your home screen.
I used to flash numerous times a week, but, I haven't changed a thing since 16th Aug and that's a record.
what version of CHT are you using as i had to revert back to v1.7 due to the latest one giving me problems...i would suggest to upgrade your Rom to 1.72 start fresh again and install all necessary apps you need one by one that way you can analyse if certain apps are conflicting causing the frezzing problem that you have ....if that doesnt work try a custom rom.

On the iPhone tell him to hold the sleep button + the home button for a few seconds... That should do the trick.
i had the exactly same issue on my second hd2 and had my phone sent in (also vibracall was sounding abnormally), i should get it back this week. i hope CHT works then, my first hd2 never had problems like that....
Thanks indeed for the info I did have a sneaky suspicion that CHT may be a problem, I will try the stock 1.72 and maybe try a few things one at a time see if it helps thanks again
ive had problkems that sound like that, the lockscreen disapears and you can see the screen you have behind, except you still have to slide to unluck . with the vbn rom my lockscreen problems dispaeared complelty. it still seemed to suffer from memory issues but for the most part it was stable.
i hardly use windows mobile anymore, as android is way more fun, and it never complains about not having anough memory
I would suggest couple of things:
- make sure, that all the additional icons (if any) and wallpapers used are in phone memory, i.e. not on sd card.
- using bsb tweaks You can disable wm 6.5 lockscreen and give s2u2 a try
