i have a verizon touch pro and normally have about 22 or les megs of ram free for programs. not sure if that is good or not, but coming from a blackberry 8830 where 15 was the min for a good smooth running tou i would like to get this number higher.
i am loooking for a ROM that is just the bare essentials, winmo 6.1, the phone and camera software, and what ever else it has to have for my phone to run. that way any thing else i want i can find a cab file and install myself.
i was referred to ppckitchen.com to get the kitchen, but cannot download and install the updates for it so i cant try to make my own rom.
any ideas? im sure someone else has already made this exact rom, but i simply cannot find it. not sure what to search for (trust me, i have been trying...)
thanks.
You have a CDMA device. Every ROM in this thread is for GSM. Don't flash any of these to your phone. For CDMA... check out the Raphael CDMA forum or www.ppcgeeks.com.

Since you're located in Sweden and T7272 is the HTC Touch Pro European version. It is a GSM device.
You should also see a SIM card slot when you remove the battery and the cover.

Oh, so thats how it goes, eh?
Is the SIM card the only major difference between GSM phones and CDMA ones?
I'm learning every minute here...
Thanks for the quick reply!
For CDMA, I would recommand Scottcrosler's rom kitchen, he has it for both Sprint and Verizon's variation. My friend who has Verizon uses Scott's rom and it is incredibly speedy, and there are definitely more ram available with programs running (I think my friend's phone has around 50mb or so after manila loaded). Plus with the kitchen, you would be able to pick and choose the programs to your EXACT liking.

Yes, I tried. It's image version 2.19.453.4. The RUU is made only for the X7501.

Hmmmm, and our current version is 2.20.405.1........sooo why not use it instead?
Later...............
I am running the X7501 software now after using the previous X7500 WM6 ROM. The camera app still supports the front camera as I am using the X7500 hardware. This ROM is geared towards US users on T-Mobile or AT&T as it automatically configures your data connection. It contains TeleNav with I assume is similar to Google Maps, but for a paid subscription. I will run it for a few days and report back. The radio version is higher than the one of the X7500 ROM which may be designed for the US market, I dont know.

2.20 is for the X7500, this one is an update to the X7501. I don't know how to make it work on the X7500 (and don't really look forward to it either), but none the less I never said to go ahead and try that one on a X7500. The X7501 is an Athena/Advantage also, I only mentioned this version was out for anyone to try/break/extract/etc.. It's official release also if it makes anyone more comfortable.
One point I thought was interresting was the inclusion of TeleNav instead of TomTom. Sounds like HTC is maketing the 7500 in europe with video telephony and TomTom, where in america it's the 7501 without video telephone and TeleNav. Which makes me believe it will be sold by Cingular/AT&T (who for a strange reason, launch the HSDPA network, but gets rid of services using it such as video telephone).

Both ROMs seem to be about the same, as I have run them each individually. i would say that Advantage users in the United States may like the X7501 ROM better becasue everything is preloaded for AT & T Wireless or T-Mobile.
Other than that, they are the same, and still no VGA resolution support in the X7501 ROM.

I have to say I really enjoy the radio ROM of the X7501 as I have been traveling in areas I normally drop a call and this Radio version on my x7500 seems to migrate seamlessly through my area. I travelled 350 miles round trip today driving and stayed on the phone constantly. I did not drop one call!
Either ROM is OK by me (X7500 or x7501) because at this point if the ROM doesnt have the features you want, you just install a CAB file.
hey guys,
i don't know much about what you're talking about. is there a difference between x7500, x7501, athena, dupod 1000, Ameo and which wm6 rom update u install?
how do i know what i have. i bought mine from some store in manhattan, not from a wireless phone company.
the box says advantage x7500, but the device information:
model number says ATHE100
ROM version: 1.25.405.2
ROM date: 03/09/07
Radio: 1.38.00.00
Protocol: 32.71.7020.103H
extROM: 1.23.405.103
my questions are:
- what model do i have
- is it a locked model? how do i find out?
- livingin USA, would i be better off changing to the x7501 rom, since it's tailored for noth america (so you guys think), or would i be takin a big risk?
really appreciate your help
I haven't been on a while, my DCD 3.2.6 has been running as smooth as ever.
Just noticed tonight though that HTC has released the 6.1 upgrade for Alltel users. HTC PPC6800 WM6.1 / LBS Update – Version 3.52.671.9
Probably won't leave my 3.2.6 has it's running smooth, but the upgrades from the HTC site include:
1. Upgrades the operating system from Windows Mobile. 6.0 Professional to Windows Mobile. 6.1 Professional.
2. Adds the ability to use the internal GPS of the handset for advanced location services such as Alltel Navigation, an application that provides audible turn-by-turn directions and business listings.
3. Includes updates for network speed, allowing the phone to use EVDO Rev A networks.
4. Adds all enhancements included in previous software maintenance releases.
Just wondered if any Alltel users have tried it.

I am currently running it. As a matter of fact, I replaced DCD 3.2.6 with this one. It runs just as good and the GPS runs smooth. It also comes with ArcSoft 5.0.71.33. Alltel Navigation is the same navigation application most carriers are loading on thier phones (some version of TeleNav). Comes with a 30 day free trial and works good, but I will not pay the $9.95 a month to use it. When loaded, I have just as much free RAM as I did with DCDs ROM. I still like the work that DCD does, but I prefer a factory ROM if possible and so far this one gives me all that I was looking for.
interesting...thanks for your reply.
I've been running this for about a month now and it runs great!
Only bugs i've seen is sometimes when I get text messages I don't get the orange flashing light and it never vibrates...other than that it's pretty spiffy. I like the threaded txt messaging!

hope dcd can help by breaking this to down to kitchen but wish to thank dcd

I have been using the Alltel Rom since the day it was released (actually had it a couple days before it was added to the htc site thanks to this site). Its very smooth and I really like the newer arcsoft. So much easier to send texts. You can reply to Picture msges with a txt without leaving the msg box and creating a new one.
Very stable I have had no errors. It runs Skyfire a lot better as well.

i thought you Alltel boys might want to know this. I'm fairly familiar with one of Alltel's engineer. He looked at my titan for about 30 minutes a few days and looked at some screens i've never seen. Now i'm not saying all phones on 3.2.6 are not Rev.A compatible, but i know the Alltel ones aren't. He said the "alltel people" were very familiar with DCD, NoChem, and other Roms and respected their work.
for some reason though he said their roms didn't enable Rev.A on the alltel network. This new ROM that they have out does...it shows up as rA on the phone instead of EV. Just thought you'd want to know.
To show you how much i love 3.2.6, i will still probably stay with it. It's the most stable ROM i've run, and i'm well appreciative of DCD's work on this stuff.
I'm running DCD now, but can someone tell me what version ARCSOFT was included with this official alltel rom??
THank you!

The new Alltel official ROM comes with ArcSoft version 5.0.71.33. Lots of other changes too. I was running DCD 3.2.6 and decided to check out the new ROM from Alltel. It runs great with plenty of free RAM (around 17MB). It has the GPS enabled and comes with TeleNav, but I am using AmazeGPS.
Well....I'm running DCD now but I can't forward txt messages to multiple people...I am running that version of arcsoft as well. Looks like im going to go back to the official rom..No one seems to have any solutions to my issue..
ArcSoft 5.0.71.33 working great wanted to play so broke it down to a kitchen
added manila 2d and still run around 17mb free great rom excellent GPS
with Garmin XL if you would like to try the kitchen i made message me and i will share for beta testing purposes only not responsable for ant damage.

Yup.
Has anyone here managed to extract the Radio and flash it with working results?
I've been trying to do this myself and it flashes fine (via MicroSD) but then I get No Radio.
I'm using Dutty's NBHTool to extract it from the Special file, then making a NBH of the Radio only...
Anyone?

you say it's incorrect as you know from experience. Funny you say that. i have dcd 3.3.4 now and i was in Raleigh Durham with my office phone that we just installed the new official alltel ROM. Did you actually test out the connection at speedtest.net?
If your uplink is over 200k, then you are revA regardless of what the screen says. Put another way, have you determined whether this is a display issue or an actual issue?

not sure about this one...i guess just in listening to the Alltel engineer (that actually runs alot of DCD and other cooked roms) he said he wasn't truly Rev.A. Just repeating what he said.
Just upgraded my Titan to the Touch Pro. I see the roms have carriers built-in. Any US Cellular Carrier support working yet? Can a bare rom be made to work on any carrier? Radios? My radio sucks. 1 to 2 bars less than my Titan at home. I read that battery tweaks are mandatory to have a life. Finding it hard to determine which files are best for the model I have with so many models out there, and USCC being so new...
I also just upgraded to the TP from the Titan ... and was also wondering about cooking a rom with USCC support... is this possible yet?
Well, 24 hrs later, and I have some wishes..
the radio on this sucks.. 1.06.07... less bars, bluetooth sucks for speed on redfly.. gps seems ok though.
Battery sucks.
Otherwise, this phone rocks.. love the vga, love the feel of the hardware, love the ram..
still wondering about carriers.. don't want to break the data connection with the wrong rom/carrier... but I am ready to format this sucka.. I know the hardware is good, just in search of the right combo of software to run it right!
I've found that setting no carrier name or setting Alltel seems to work for USCC. I don't post much over here but I post over at the USCC forum on Howardforums a lot.

You mean in the kitchen for ROM cooking?
Who wants to be first to try?
Yep in the Kitchen, if you use a kitchen. If you don't, you can just install the firmware as is and usually you can just set your settings. USCC doesn't use an AKEY or anything like that.
Just make sure, no matter what rom you burn, that you should use the Clear Storage feature after installing the ROM (including the Format NAND Flash) Switch, to make sure that you have a clean workspace.
At the moment I'm using Juicy 7 no problem on my USCC TP.
EDIT: There's nothing really to try, I've already done this several times over, as has several others. Worst case there's a shipped firmware EXE and you can revert back to factory using that and the relocker. You should use 0.37 of SPL and keep your radio factory.
Where can we find the stock rom for uscc?

Yep. That'd be the one.
It's on HTC's website, dated July 7th. I haven't seen any other threads on it, and I wanted to see if anyone else has tried it. I've updated to it myself, and it seems to be an overall improvement over the version I had. There's really nothing much in the notes, though it seems they tweaked quite a bit. Most notably, it's done wonders for my battery life. I used to always come home with a phone that was nearly dead. Now I get home with 60-70% still left on the battery. It could be my imagination, but the phone seems a bit more responsive now as well. If the battery life is anything to go by, it could just be from general optimization of the ROM. Other points of interest... the activesync app is no longer self-launching, and Opera Mobile appears to have had an update as well.

im in the process of doing it know, ill let ya know what i think in a bit
I tried it when it 1st came out, its definitely better than the shipped rom, but its still got all of the bloatware and other b.s. that interferes with performance. IMO, you're still better off with a cooked rom.
ya i honestly cant tell a different between stock rom and this update
Oh yeah, I'm sure a cooked rom is faster. Just thought I'd put the PSA out there. It does seem to address a few issues for my launch version of the ROM.
one of these day ill get around to putting a custom rom on my phone.
thiers just to many and i cant figure out which one i want
stock
if i have already unlocked my phone and running a custom rom and want to flash to this stock rom do i need to do anything different?
No, just flash as you normally do. Every couple of flashes I go back to the stock rom anyway. Probably just the "placebo" effect, but I've convinced myself it helps.
Do it for the Radio

Notation to everyone here this ROM includes an updated radio. 1.12.20F. So that it's self should be worth it. I run NFS rom but I am going to update to this so I can grab the updated radio. I will then jump to his. My radio is currently 1.03.16F. It also has the later PRL and PRI.
I see the in the Radio Thread in this forum that they have the alltel readio without the whole ROM. So if you want go that route. I have just found that doing a stock flash every once in awhile keeps my custom flashing less problematic.
im still having problems as far as radio signal.........and the only reason i don't just upgraded the radio is their is no alltel dump yet
I also get great battery life after the update.

typing this didn't do anything...all i got was call cant be completed as dialed
One very nice discovery I made today (because of how little I actually talk on my TP) is that they've changed the call answer screen a bit. Seems they took a page from Apple's book and changed the answer and ignore buttons into a slider. You slide it all the way left to answer, and right to ignore. Should fix the accidental answer problem I know a lot of people (including myself) have had.
Will this work on Verizon TP? I know i will have to apply keyboard patch but would it work?
Radio should work no problem, especially since alltel and verizon are 1 now.
I dispise Verizon ROM. No YouTube, No Internet Sharing etc... Got it as a insurance replacement when my Alltel TP broke. They said they don't have Alltel TPs anymore.
Please give me the good news... PLEEEAAASE

I wouldn't attempt it if I were you. Have you considered trying a custom rom? If you've never done it I could help you through the process. Stock roms SUCK!
Can i ask you if it works in a touch pro un-locked of the vodafone Italy company?
I have an alltel touch pro but my area switched to verizon now, im assuming this won't be a problem because i didn't need to do any update when they switched so im guessing the radio won't be an issue? Really want to do this if it increases battery.
Also will this remove any settings or themes that kind of stuff?
edit nevermind i see it removes everything.
if i take my memory card out before i update can will all the programs that are one it reinstall? and when i put all my backed up data back on the device do the programs reinstall or do i have to do something to reinstall them?
Hey guys
I am wondering in plain english what difference there is? obviously in my eyes the more memory the more responsive,
but im not just talking about speed, are there differences in stability?
Also what rom would you advise that uses the 576mb hack?
Regards
I may be talking out of turn...
Just spent last few days trying different combos of roms...
whilst the customised 576mb roms have latest and greatest features, here in the UK on Vodafone Network, having to use any 2.xx.50.xx radio leaves me with awful call quality...
Love the ROMS and their features, but not at the cost of a useable telephone.
My advice is unless your device is a native 576mb, it really isnt worth the drop in useability as a telephone.
I have been through all the .50. radios, i've tried the wavedev.dll fix... all make slightest of differences...
Back on a .51. radio... the difference is undeniably obvious...
Just my two cents... thanks for letting me get that out
strange im using one of the .50 radios now, and my call quality is fine, i mean compared to the stock i dont notice a massive massive amount of call quality difference, noticable but not too much.
im currently just reading through all the different roms to see which would suite my needs, i need stability, i cant be doing with reboots all the time, but then i love the looks of some of the custom roms
hmmm decisions!
just try some custom roms... u will find one that suites best... bet u will get flash addict!

Already am, with my old HTC Desire i must have changed roms 3 times a week, well until i found a rom i loved anyway.
Quick question (for some reason when i use the search funtion on my works laptop it fails miserably and times out)
Is there anyway to install a custom rom from the SD Card?
Ive not had a problem using a .50 radio in the uk..... I think they just dont like vodaphone, Ive seen a few people complaining about it....
If anything my signal is better than before.....

copy the nbh file to sd card and rename it leoimg.nbh
go into bootloader and it should find teh image and flash it. If it doesnt, then try formatting teh card to fat32, and if it STILl doesnt find it, chances are you have a 8gb or 16gb card, which can be hit and miss.
as for searching, rather than teh built in search function, which is mediocre at best, bookmark and use THIS google advanced search page, and start your search with
+hd2 +leo yoursearchhere
so example
+hd2 +leo how to hspl
gives THIS

Many thanks for the info pal, much appreciated, i have a sneeky suspision that work has for some reason blocked search engines as Bing is now also not working, may just be an issue down at our london office, right im off to try duttys rom, it looks pretty darn good!
You guys may well be right about vodafone.. and .50. roms with 576Mb, if it is any help to another vodafone user to avoid the trawling and testing of roms i have done...
I don't remember having issues with call quality and .50 radios before the 576Mb versions came out.
In my tests with Energy and CleanX Ultimate ROMS 2.10.50.19_2 was the one with least static and hiss, still very poor call quality tho.
If anyone manages to get sensible call quality on .50. radio with a 576Mb ROM on a EU spec phone and vodafone let me know, as i was really enjoying Energy latest ROM.. was why i spent so long testing out the .50. Radios.
Cheers
I've been using the latest max sense energy rom with the 2.12.50.02_2 radio on my UK vodafone. I've had no problems what so ever and the call quality is excellent. It may be an area thing by the sounds of things.
I was wrong!
I was wrong
Listening to what has been written above, i installed radio rom 2.12.50. and still had terrible call quality....
so, tried my PAYG O2 sim (uses same frequencies as Vodafone) and made a call with no crackles or hiss at all!!! With no change in radio or rom, vast improvement... noted that was on 2G signal at that point...
Changed back to vodafone sim, switched to GSM only mode and as if by magic the signal was miraculously better..
At least i am one step closer to nailing the vodafone hiss/crackle between talking... something to do with how the HD2 handles 3G based calls...
I am determined to locate and sort this feature of my HD2....
Wish me luck.
