Manual network selection not working - JAMin, XDA Neo, S200 ROM Development

Hi everybody,
I'm trying to solve an issue regarding to the network selection with my old prophet.
I'm actually in Switzerland, just a few miles from the french border and as french internet mobile are way better than swiss one, I keep on using my french mobile.
I set my network selection to manual but as soon as I loose the french network, it switch to a swiss one as if network manual selection was not enable.
I know it doesn't come from the sim as it has the right behaviour on my HTC Diamond (unfortunately Diamond reception is far from the Prophet one)
I tried to update the Radio without success and I also tried every possible rom.
If somebody could help me trying to understant where it comes from.

118 view and not a single answer... Come on guys, I know we are not a lot of Propher users remaining but somebody necessarily noticed this issue ?

Multilangual XDA users? / Settings for GPRS+GSM roaming?

Hello to everybody!
I just signed in to this forum and browsed through the postings. There's already tons of info and I found several valuable tips, but I miss one or two topics:
How to enhance transcriber text input to be able to comfortably use it for more than one (default) language?
The reason for this is quite simple: I usually use my german OS settings, but frequently want to write english or maybe french emails.
Transcriber does not support text input other than OS default language, so recognition of english text is quite poor and takes a long time to enter without typo.
Any hints?
And then there's something on GPRS and roaming: I just discovered that EG in danmark there's no O2 GPRS roaming partner, but unlike with a T-D1 device, with the O2 XDA I can not use GSM instead, and customer support says it doesn't work because they don't have a roaming partner and that's it. I do not believe them: There must be a way to route the connection through GSM networks to OS germany.
The default GPRS settings provided by O2 were a bit unstable even at home, but I found better settings which now work quite reliably. I think there may be GSM settings O2 did not provide for whatever reason, but which will nevertheless work. Am I wrong?

XDA IIi unlocked from O2 - need Orange settings

Hi
I recently purchased an O2 XDA IIi, which is unlocked from O2 and has been hard-reset to remove O2 features.
My SIM works as much that I can make/receive calls and send/receive text messages.
But, to access Internet, Email, MMS etc etc I need the settings for Orange (Ive tried http://forum.xda-developers.com/viewtopic.php?t=7306 but no luck).
Does anyone have the correct settings please ?
Is there a programme I can download (the type that is pre-installed onto Orange phones) as this may be the quickest solution.
I have tried Orange support on 3 occassions now and whilst they state they dont support non-orange phones they have tried to help - but without success.
Does anyone know if the hard-reset actaully leaves various O2 settings on the phone, which still need sorting.
ANY HELP WOULD BE GOOD !!
Thank You !!!
Paul

Hi mate,
Are you on PAYG or Contract?
If your on contract try this
Daz aka Cadburys Man.
Hi
Im on contract.
The other potential problem is that its an orange sim, orange contract BUT an EQ Virgin tariff (if that makes a difference)
Paul
Mate i can't see that making any difference what so-ever, if it's Orange contract it's Orange contract as far as i'm concerened, unless of course someone can say differently.
Daz.
Hi Daz
Thanks for that - but no luck with it.
Just to check I did things correctly.....
Downloaded it to desktop and bluetoothed it to PDA.
Found it in My Docs and clicked it to load it.
Was that correct procedure ?
Unfortunately, when I try to connect with it I get........
"No modem at above number. To check your connection settings and change them if needed tap settings"
Name = Orange Internet
Modem = Cellular Line (GPRS)
APN = orangeinternet
User = [blank]
Password = [blank]
TCP/IP = User server assigned IP address
Servers = Use server assigned addresses
Are the the settings that were downloaded ?
Thanks
Paul
Hmmmm thats wierd cos mine works and the settings are same as mine :?
I copied mine using the cradle through activesync but don't think that matters at all as the settings are the same.
Anyone else have a solution or tryed this file sucessfully?
Sorry i couldn't be of more help
Daz.
as i wrote in this post in the other forum then if it's set on auto pick of the o2 network profile it is bound to fail
Rudegar
There is NO mention of O2 anywhere on connections.
I ONLY have Orange Internet set up as described above.
Now.......
someone suggested looking at the External Rom ??
Ive managed to unlock this and need to know where and what I am looking to change ?
..Unless anyone has a full ext rom download i can use to overwrite what i already have ?
MANY MANY thanks

Pls Advise
BR
Try to disable the auto selection of the Radio mode... Select GSM or UMTS only...
Hi,
Same goes to my Atom Life. Even I set it to manual selection, after a while it will become no network and reset it to 3G network.
I am using a 3G sim card, selected manual GSM network. It auto search for 3G after the network lost. When check the setting on the phone setting, it still show manual selection.
Contacted the local O2 helpdesk and waiting for their testing reply on monday.
Note: this is my 2nd sets having 1 to 1 exchange on thursday. Previous set having problem with the handset speaker. Have to use headset to make calls.
But no problem with network issue when i set it to manual selection with GSM network.
Also from the tech support guy that the new ROM will be soon available (2-3 weeks time).
Regards,
Ric

Newbuy question: No [3G] sign... Only [G] or [E]

Hi,
Apologies for this question, but i cant get 3G sign in my mobile, while other Nokia n73 can get it. I updated my radio to v1.43, and still no [3G] sign...
In some areas i get [G] which means GPRS signal, and in other areas i got [E] which i don't know what does it mean... Any ideas??
Thx in advance
E = Edge...
Thanks Madcap... But as far as i know that Edge (EGPRS) is an extended version of GPRS whilst 3G is based on WCDMA.
My question now is why my Nokia n73 Reading always 3G, and my HTC is not reading it??? Is there is something wrong in HTC? or i must do some settings for that one?
Thx

Hello,
You say that your Nokia can receive a 3G signal and the Hermes cannot - are they both using SIM cards from the same provider and if not then do both providers supply a 3G signal where you are trying to use the Hermes?
If you should be able to receive a 3G signal on your current provider then I'd suggest you try the following:
1. Check the settings of the Hermes Phone. Try looking at the band selection setings by going to Settings - [Personal] Phone - Band Tab then checking that the Network type is set to Auto. The screenshot below shows the screen that I mean. If this is set to GSM then change it to Auto and see if that fixes the problem. If not then try...
2. Force use of 3G. Even with Auto selected your Hermes handset may be using 2G because that signal is much stronger than the 3G signal. You can force the handset to try 3G only by using a 3rd party application such as Bandswitch (an excellent product by Daniel Herrero - see his posts here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=286844&highlight=bandswitch). You can download Bandswitch here: http://commmgrpro.com/_wsn/page2.html. Try using this application to set the handset to 3G and see if that works.
If you should have a 3G signal but none of this helps then it seems you have a problem that may need warranty attention. Is the handset new?
Hope this helps
Hello Tony,
Thank you for your reply. I tried what you advised. Still Cant Capture the 3G signal...
Also, i tried an application called "fieldtest_157.exe". It is described somewhere in this group. I can't find any signal (zero values) for anything related to WCDMA, UMTS, and 3G
This is weird.. I just went into settings>phone .. and there is no BAND tab.. wtf?

Hi Mike,
Have added this reg tweak. It added WCDMA & a couple of protocols in the band section of phone settings. Non of them is working... Is it possible that my radio has a problem? I'm using GPRS very well, and i have excellent GSM connections... What could be the problem?

Fixing Incorrect Bands??

Hey guys been searching the forums alot and can't seem to find a solution to this issue apart from people saying its in the registry, but i can't find hte setting if its in there
My phone is the Neon200 which should have UMTS 850/2100
However the ROM i have used (Seth2006's Diamond V2) makes my phone think its UMTS 800/1900 setting the phone to auto fixes my issues except the phone likes to use the 850Mhz over the 2100Mhz thus i Roam to Telstra's network and nto Three's
Any idea's how to fix this?
I have tried installing different radios and running some CAB's i found on the forum to no avail
No idea's or solutions at all?
Ahaha please guys really i've trolled the forums and google nothign at all
Did you try ask Seth2006 about it?
Yes unfortuntely i've had no reply
Can anyone help me with this? Point me to a registry setting or somethign atleast where these settings would be kept
Im close to solving this and will post it up
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=386661
Is my reference its the wrong model just reloading a stock Telstra ROM then exporting the registry keys
Ok i solved this issue
I hav atatched in this thread 2 .reg files that make the appriate changes
