I just received a replacement phone from VZW and it appears to have a stock radio/rom that I cannot find the in the community.
From the right side of the boot screen:
P DCBBPZM-615010
R 1.03.09V
D 1.08
From the bootloader (tri-color) screen:
SPL-0.40.0000
From the About screen in Settings:
Windows Mobile 6.1 Professional
CE OS 5.2.20769 (Build 20679.1.4.5)
I was able to rip the flash memory from a tutorial on this site (link) but I have still yet to find a tutorial about dumping the radio. I have been doing searches on here and on PPCGeeks, but I have not found what I'm looking for. Does anyone have any help they can give?
Thanks to Mattheyu and CheezWiz on PPCGeeks for the help so far.

would love to try a new tp radio

I know for a fact that all of them aren't extracted from shipped ROMS. I know that they include them, but if you look at my first post I have the raw files dumped from my phone's memory, not just the ROM. If these raw files do not include the radio, then I would be happy to learn how to dump the radio as well. I know it can be done, I just don't have the means to do it.
just to let you know this radio is already dumped and you can use it on the tp for cdma. not sure about gsm though. i really really want a dumped shipped rom of alltel or just even the stock radio would be fine.

You and me both brotha, I have a feeling now that the merger is in full swing, us Alltel peeps wont be seeing any new ROM updates or new devices. I really hope I'm wrong though.
As you mentioned psycho_maniac, VZW has released an update that was leaked to the community. I'm not giving up my pursuit, but now it has turned from me wanting to give a new radio to the community, to how much I can learn about this stuff. If anyone has any adivce on the use of QMAT, please feel free to give it.
I wish you two, and all other alltel customers luck on getting an alltel update.

Hey there everyone.
I was hoping someone might be able to help me with this. I need to backup my operators origional OS and Radio ROM so when I send a PDA back to them I can put it back as I got it (with radio 1.05 etc).
I have read the page on backing up the OS and have got that squared away. I have searched the forums and can't find anything on how to extract the radio rom and flash it into another device.
Alternatively does anyone still have a copy of 1.05?
Can anyone help me with this?
BTW, thanks to all you hardware hackers, tweakers, programmers, chefs and others that contribute to this great community YOU RULE!!!
the radio can't be dumped completely, you can dump some parts with 'rrbmc' and 'rdpram' commands depending on radio bootloader version (hermflasher does that), but you can't flash back a dumped radio.
However, radio 1.05.02.00 is on T-Mob Hungary ROM and you can extract it from there, see the wiki.
Thanks for the wise words Proff, now I understand.
You da man!
OMG!!! T-Mobile have released Official WM6 ROMS UK NE DE AT!!!

Thanks, I think this is very helpfull.
Great! Always usefull when you need to restore your device
Has anyone tested if any of these ROMs flash properly.. for me it would be the Dutchversion then... But I can not test right now can not have my phone broken down. Once Kaizer is out I am going to buy that one and then I could test, but would be nice to know if these dumped ROMs work
Unfortunately I do not know, I haven't even tested the UK version as I am not sure if it will work, however I did update the RUU.
Shame we cannot emulate the firmware install!
The T-Mob UK dumped ROM isn't quite right - the w'n'w home page doesn't work properly.
Minor thing but, one of the first things I tested
I dumped my friends ROM the other day. I'm currently working on building it and testing it - will let you know when it's done
Cheers,
Smiffy.
Hmmm...humble pie - lovely
Well, after flashing the ROM i dumped the other day, I had exactly the same thing with IE.
It took me about 3 seconds to realise it must be because the extROM had been flashed by one of the WM6 ROMs I had been using in the past.
As it turns out, this is the case so I can confirm that if you have the same issue, download the extROM dumo from the wiki (from this page) and delete the current contents of your extROM and copy the downloaded one back to it. Hard reset, and voila - everything back the way T-Mobile shipped (apart from Radio ROM, IPL\SPL etc...) but WTH ;-)

Trapper,
I assume you mean how can you put the correct Extended ROM onto your device? If I understand this correctly, the ROMs mentioned in Jygar's first post are the original main ROM but the Extended ROM is in fact from a Windows Mobile 6 ROM (I do not believe that flashing a ROM will affect the Extended ROM - the problem is that the re-flashed (downgraded) WM5 ROM is starting the Extended ROM installation after the basic OS install (as normal) but that Extended ROM is still a WM6 one.
The page that is linked to includes many Extended ROMs from many countries and devices - one of them an original T-Mobile ROM (here) and if you were to unlock/unhide and mount your Extended ROM you would be able to delete the incorrect (WM6) ones and then paste in these original Extended ROM files.
The Extended ROM files are executed during a hard reset after the OS has been installed - details of how this works are within this forum. I am not sure that you need to do a hard reset but it all depends on whether you stopped the device completing a normal (complete) install. After a hard reset the device will start to execute the Extended ROM files/.cabs and if you stop that with a soft reset as soon as it starts then the device will re-boot with a basic WM build (with no service provider fixes/updates/customisations/settings)
If this is all explaining what you already know then sorry but your question posted is rather open... Hope this helps
ExtROM.nb attached Just put it into an NBH and flash
@tony.wheeler - What was the original radio version of your Vario II? I'm in the process of creating a complete upgrade to restore UK MDA Vario II's to their 'out of the box' state with the original ROMs (IPL, SPL, MainSplash, SubSplash, OS, Radio ExtROM)
Phil
eek, think it was 1.03?
[edit]Have done a search it appears it is 1.05!
only problem is this is HTC_BOOT 0106 and most ppl are now patched to 0108 so I would have thought we cannot downgrade our radio rom.
TBH 1.43 is the best radio rom out and i cannot say a bad word against it. I have only eva updated my radio rom and since the radio update have not had a problem with the origional t-mob os.
Hehe, yeah i found out it was 1.05 as well. Oh well, I'll use 1.07 in my NBH. I now have a complete ROM backup (IPL, SPL, GSM, OS, MainSplash, SubSplash, ExtROM) to revert back to should anything ever happen which means I would need to claim on the warranty.

I keep loosing connection with the 1.50 that came with the WM6 test ROM, and also falling down to GSM even though I'm in a good 3G reception area.
Didn't seem to notice these problems before. I was running Radio 1.48 onto of the old radio.

I too am running with Radio 1.50, after a short-lived update to WM6. I have had no problems at all with 2g or 3g, steady as a rock.
I installed dcd roms and had radio issues, but I loved windows 6.1. Is it possible to get windows 6.1 on the old 2.17 rom??
It's possible, but someone would need to build it. DCD's and no2chem's work is WM 6.1 with a 3.x base. Someone would need to make a 6.1 build with a 2.17 base.
im not updating anything that was based on 2.17 until i fix bugs on the wm6.1 i have out now. but, someone who knows how could convert a wm6.1/3.16 base to 2.17 using the attached XIP.
Your right DCD, and thanks for responding. I am having issues with my mail2web account on the new radio, if someone could take the info DCD provided and apply it for us who need to use 2.17 would be very appriciated
Now, I am learn how to cook ROM.
This may take a long time, so if someone else finish before me then plz share.
Thanks,
Hiromitsu
edit: anybody know the address of OS.nb for titan?
Also, i am completely directionless... I have no idea what to do or where to go or anything. cook rom is very.... lack of documentation like other thing. So this will take a long time try to figure it out on my own
m(_ _)m
where is a link to 2.17? I tried doing a search for it but dont see it posted anywhere

2.17 refers to build of original sprint ROM version you see on boot up the mogul. It's latest "official" ROM build by WinMo 6.0; therefore, you use that as base. Maybe use dcd kitchen.

Downloads now go straight to a mirror closest to you. Please post if you see any issues.
Enjoy
I have just updated all these and included the RUUWrapper executable to make life easier on everyone involved..
Have fun with these
Sweet!!! Thanks CRCinAU, you and your roms rock...
Great! Thanks for this! Now there's one source for all radios.
radio ok?
thanks!
I just downloaded Radio Hermes_Radio_v1.47.30.10. I run RUUWrapper.exe and it says it's going to update from version "Shamanix WM6 U" to version 1.98.3
is that ok?? shouldn't it say 1.47.30.10?? (I currently have version 1.34 and a Shaps WM6 ROM)
Thanks!

At the moment, I'm trialing 1.56.70.11 - however I've noticed a few issues when dialing numbers. I'm not sure if it's the Radio version or the Optus network being retarded... I used to use 1.48.00.10 and this worked fine.
Usually takes a month or so to properly test a radio rom though
If you check the Hermes Wiki here there is already an archive of the radios.
Good work nonetheless.

I know this is probably a dumb question but i'm gonna ask it anyway. I am in the uk on 02... is there a particular one i should use... if not.. what is the difference between them all?
I am trying to learn but i find this radio thing very confusing
Radio is to improved your cell network, if u'r using hermes you'll see it in setting > system > device information. if you dont find any trouble in your shiped radio than it ok, but if you think the batteery drains to fast or the signal quality is to low, than may be you should try diffrent radio.
What Radio Rom should i use?
Hi,
I have flashed my rom to CRC's 13.1-pre 7. It works like a dream. I am in Australia and my provider is 3. My current Radio Rom is: 1.47.30.10.
It seems to work all ok but my battery life is average and 3's coverage is average in some areas.
Any recommendations?
Andrew
For some reason the only radio that worked for me is 1.16 I am smack-dab in the middle of the US. All the other radios kept freezing phone in the middle of a phone call, especially when I had my bluetooth headset connected (Jawbone) from 1.27 the the latest. Funny thing is that 1.16 always shows a G instead of an E in taskbar but is connected at edge speed.
Just thought I wuld throw that out there. Using CRC 13.0 Rom. By the way great job CRC for throwin these radio packs together.
Thanks, - Philux-X

Radio Rom for Hermes
Hi CRCin AU,
What have you found to be the best Radio Rom for here in Australia?
Im also from Australia and are wondering what is radio is best, im on the Optus network.
I use 1.56.70.11 and don't seem to have any dramas on the Optus network in Australia. Give it a go and see how it works for you.
Diamond radios can now be flashed to the Raphael.
Ive got 1.00.25.05 flashed right now and its a lot better than any Raphael radio.
I had some problems in the begining but Olipro helped me.
1st you security unlock, here : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=426609
2nd chose the option "Security Unlock" on you PDA in the last step and press "Commit Changes".
3rd download any Diamond radio (NBH) of choice .
4th you have 2 basic choices to make it flash:
1) extract radio from NBH, rebuild for Raphael (bit long winded but of course words)
2) open the NBH in a hex editor and substitute "DIAM*****" for "RAPH*****" or RAPH10000 or RAPH12000 (depending on whether your SPL screen says 100 or 120) - stick with wildcards first and use the exact values if it continues to complain.
I used this HEX editor : http://www.hhdsoftware.com/Products/home/hex-editor-free.html
Olipro recommends XV132 and its free.
5th now put the edited NBH (radio file) in the same folder as Raphael Custom RUU. Heres a link to the RUU : http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410761&highlight=customruu
6th now flash !
And remember all of this information was provided to me by Olipro via e-mail, without me even asking (I was using the unlocker again and again and he noticed so he shot me an e-mail). Im just passing the information further, all credit goes to them !
Keep up the great work everyone !
Hi hope some cheef can convert the diamond radio roms to touch pro to avoid we brick out toys
Can you please explain what exactly is better in the Diamond radio's compared to the Raph radios? IE Battery life, reception, GPS?
And of course this may be a stupid question (well, for sure a stupid question!) but how 'bout US 3G?
Thanks!

nothing's better... but if you're bored and have nothing better to do...
OK, well, some will claim performance increases etc etc, the truth is, it's entirely subjective, and the current Raphael Radios are in fact just modified versions of new Diamond ones.

That's what I figured... Same hardware, probably just slightly modified radios for both devices... Well, I'll keep my current radio for now until I hear something really ground-breaking...

I looked under phone settings and it does not show the US 3G 850MHz frequency. Which this radio (1.00.25.05) supports on the Diamond. Dont know what thats all about........
The reception (phone and data) is better and faster what Ive seen so far. Its 1040 PM here so will test GPS tommorow and need more time to see the differences in battery.
Can you upload modified Radio?
it might not be entirely subjective, it depends on the area where you are. in any case the more choices the better.

the truth is, the raphael radios (both the ATT 1.01 and the "european" 1.02.25.31) support both 850 and 1900 Mhz 3G. it is confirmed because they've been flashed to a Fuze.

Ive deleted the radio I used to flash but I can make a new one if you want. Just tell me.
Edit : Ive just flashed from ROMeOS to DCS (latest) and the 850/1900MHz options are now visible in the settings. But I cant test them since Im in Sweden.
I'm in the US. If you send me one of the Diamond radios I can test it on different ROMs to see if 3G is enabled with the diamond radio.
Ok heres the Diamond radio Im using. Ive edited it to work on the Touch Pro.
Heres a link : http://rapidshare.com/files/146154003/Diamond_Radio_1.00.25.05.rar.html
well i've just brought the security unlocker and did the hex editing and i confirm that the radio from diamond works. Going to test it the next few days.
thanks for the file. I downloaded it. Do Ihave to use the Hex editor or just flash it directly to my TP?.
update:
I've tried to to the Hex edit but I cannot find any reference as specified on the first post. I might require your help as I'm not an expert. thanks
I've tried both RAPH***** and RAPH10000 as specified in my SPL and during the flashing process I get to 100% but the last page shows "error[226]: Flashwrite... flashwrite error UI535.
I've tried a couple of times with no luck. any clues?
Have you security unlocked ? Theres no need to HEX edit the file ive uploaded Ive already done that.
I think my device has been security unlocked. I was able to flash any rom radion in the past. is that right?. if not. do you have any tool i could use to security unlock it?.
correction: think what i did was to replace the hard-spl. I tried the link in your post #1 but no luck to get the security unlocker. any help?
thanks
You have to donate to be able to get the security unlock. Heres a more direct link : http://raphael.htc-unlocks.com/
good. I've donated and i'm waiting for Olipro to send me the information.
thanks
I installed HardSPL and was able to flash a different radio.
Security unlock just enables you to sim unlock aswell right? I've tried searching the whole of xda & google but can't find a definite answer that convinces me I need to security unlock if I already have HardSPL installed along with the fact that my Touch pro is already Sim Unlocked.
Sorry if this is a silly question...
edit: sorry i should learn to read because moisesz asked the question...sigh...i'm still none the wiser.
Have no problem donating but just need to know whether I need to security unlock.
hard-spl and security unlock is different, this for a fact i know... whats the different? beats me
