Flashing Titan - Error - Mogul, XV6800 ROM Development

I am in the middle of flashing my titan from qwest to verizon.
I am following this wiki - http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanStockHome
I got here:
B. USB/RUU flashing
1. ensure that you are at the tri-colour bootloader screen (hit POWER-CAMERA-RESET)
2. attach your device to your PC with the USB cable
3. Place the xxxxxxxx.nbh file from the stock ROM in the RUU folder
4. Run the RUU (your chosen stock ROM) by running ROMUpdateUtility.exe in the RUU Folder
5. For good measure, let the ROM complete its setup.
6. Once complete, reset to boot into the stock OS.
Click to collapse
And on step 5 I went to run the rom update utility with the stock verizon rom and at the end of the wizard it says ERROR[294] INVALID VENDER ID.
What do I do?
Thanks

Alright I went around and did some research and found the Hard SPL Unlocker.
I backtracked and re-installed the original qwest rom, then loaded the hard spl and now I have to boot screen
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40.Olipro
CPLD-9
I am now trying to load the verizon rom but now it returns ERROR [328] INVALID COMMAND
"This update utility cannot be used for your PDA phone. Please check your update utility"
What should I do please?

Use 2.47 unlocker and then try again.

Hey,
Before you get too far into it, make sure that your handset is allready active with VZW.
The reason that I mention this is that I just found out that VZW is not accepting Qwest 6800 ESNs any more. Even though I have allready activated the unit on VZW, once I changed my number to another unit (XV6900), 3 level 3 techs & 2 Suppervisers later, they told me that since the "partnersh$t" with Allsmell, they can no longer accept Qwerst ESNs.
The good news is that after gripping enough, I get a XV6800 starter kit for $50.oo.
I'm 1yr. into my 5 line contract, and I have been paying $160~ monthly.
That might have something to do with it.
So any way make sure that you are grandmad in with your Qwerst 6800 before you "switch" handsets ever again. Becouse as soon as you do, your Qwest ESN will no longer work on the "OPEN' NUTWORK...
Look into It.

Totally confused about unlocking Cingular 8525

Apparently, I'm pretty stupid.
I just got the Cingular 8525; I have spent two hours on this site.
Things I've noticed:
One page says go into bootloader; one page says not to allow usb connections.
I do not know if I am supposed to have my non-Cingular SIM card already in the phone when attempting to do anything.
I have seen connect via USB and use mtty (with what settings do I use when I click on USB from the dropdown menu (if any) and do I connect with mtty via USB in bootloader or when the phone has booted into Windows 5.0 and again what about the non-Cingular SIM card?).
I have flashed my computers BIOS several times but I do not understand how to flash this phone based on the myriad of instructions all over this site (and RFTW did not help which is why I am here with 40000000 questions).
The steps to go from SPL 1.06 to an unlocked SIM/CID phone are?
Things I do understand:
I have SPL 1.06 (I know this from bootloader).
I must downgrade to 1.04 from 1.06 then run the upgrade to 1.06 from the Hermes Upgrade wiki page (I already downloaded all of the Cingular files).
Thanks in advance for any clarification.
I unlocked my 8525 last week, I had bootloader 1.06 so I downgraded to a ROM with boetloader 1.04(you can find it here http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=Hermes_Upgrades ).. then just follow the instructions in the zip file you downloaded(i used HERM_Unlock_v2a), which are:
1. Enter bootloader mode on your Phone. To do this, simultaneously hold side OK and POWER buttons together and reset with stylus.
[You should see SPL-1.04 on the top of the tri-color screen, if you see SPL-1.06 this unlocker will not work, please wait for the next version]
2. Connect your phone to your computer using the USB lead.
3. Run the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe program – this will reflash your phone with a patched radio ROM required to unlock.
4. Wait patiently.
5. Once the MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe upgrade completes, it will end up saying "Upgrade Error 114", but the patched radio ROM will be flashed anyway, dont worry about that error!
6. Soft reset with stylus (Device will not be hard reset and no data will be lost)
7. Allow your phone to reboot. Once it has, connect to your PC using Activesync, and copy the HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe program onto your phone. Alternatively, copy it to an SD card and insert into your phone.
8. Run HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe on your phone. Wait about 1 minute.
9. You should see a "SUCCESS!" message from HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe, after that soft reset your phone.
10. Process is (hopefully) complete!
11. If the phone requests unlock code when you put a locked SIM, the code is: 22051978
I assume I want go to 1.04 for Cingular which is 1.30.502.1.
What about my SIM card? Is it supposed to be in phone when I run this file? (it's a t-mobile sim).
I assume the activesync connection via usb is okay? I cannot get it to connect (even though the phone is on and booted into Windows 5.0); is this because I have not inserted the SIM card into the phone? Note: after I unplugged the device, setting allow USB connections on the device in the ActiveSync settings, then plugging it back in, it connected via USB in ActiveSync (4.2). However, I just got a box saying the version of ActiveSync is not compatible with this mobile device. This occured after I started the installer and it showing Verifying the information on your PDA phone.
I received an update error 260 since it thinks the phone is not connected via USB (and I noticed the ActiveSync icon in the system tray is gone).
I went to check the M$ page to see if there is a later download; there is not. Then, the AS icon return (trying to update outlook, install nero mobile) so I decided to run the installer again and now sees my current version 1.34.502.1 and I have the option to upgrade ROM

It is ok, but generally it causes more problems than it helps. Best is to disable the checkbox that says "enable usb connections" on activesync settings and you'll see the icon on the system tray turn gray with a red "X". Then you need to start the RUU when the device is in bootloader mode (tri-color screen). After you have upgrded the rom (or radio rom) you can reenable activesync again if you want.

Icon was gone because RUU checks your current rom version using activesync and then kills it an put device in bootloaer mode. If RUU cannot kill activesync correctly errors happen:
You will avoid the 260 error if you disable usb connections on desktop activesync as I told you, and start the upgrade in bootloader mode... only difference you'll notice is that RUU will not report your current rom version.
Hey. I left the RUU software running (the 25+ minute variety) while I went to buy a case and care charger. I came back and evidently, the phone had rebooted because, it is at the Windows Mobile screen to setup the Windows Mobile device. I assume it is safe to do the 2a software. After that, am I able to update the RUU back to 1.06?
Thanks for your help, Milan and pof!
I rebooted into bootloader to confirm successful downgrade to 1.04 from 1.06 and it was. The RUU software from the upgrade page for Cingular appears to have been successful.
I am now going to attempt the 2a software.
Yes, now follow all the instructions on sim&cid unlocker v2a, and when finished, flash the cingular 1.34 rom again.

It's now on the upgrade screen to Radio 1.16.00.69 but it does not show the previous version. Is this normal? I have not pressed upgrade yet. I have the splitter with the AC and USB cables into the phone (currently in bootloader mode at SPL-1.04).
yes, it is normal... i told you before:

I got the 114 error as promised in the readme. I exited the program using the EXIT button.
The next step:
6. Soft reset with stylus (Device will not be hard reset and no data will be lost)
On the phone display, it still shows Upgrade Radio Stack Please Wait..
The soft reset is the simultaneous OK and Power?
I just took the battery out and reset; it appeared to go okay. I copied the exe file to the phone and was able to run the file as in the readme. I then reset the phone, put in the t-mobile sim and it works.
Thanks much to POF and Milan for their straightforward approach. You can use this thread as a tutorial!
Is there any reason I should add the 1.06 file back to the unlocked 8525?
SPL 1.06 to SPL 1.04 back to SPL 1.06?
Hi:
I followed pof's (with pof's help) tutorial on how to unlock the Cingular 8525. I am currently at SPL 1.04 (downgraded form SPL 1.06) and had run the v2a software to unlock. It works great with T-mobile (I was a Cingular customer but made the switch).
My questions are:
Is there any reason to go back SPL 1.06?
If I do go back to SPL 1.06, it does not affect the unlock status of the SIM or CID?
I still am confused about the Radio and what that does in relation to the CID, SIM, or phone. I assume the Radio is affected the SPL version that you have?
I have tried to peruse through various pages regarding downgrading (the 13 page thread for example) to see if that question is answered.
The radio ROM controls the GSM/GPRS/UMTS hardware in your hermes. You cannot independently upgrade it unless you are running SPL 1.04. There is no reason IMO to go to any other bootloader version.

Oh okay, that clears up yet something else I did not understand
Thanks for the tip on the bootloader version; I will leave it at SPL 1.04.
That being said, I am currently in the middle of the Radio 1.20 thread; I have not finished reading it yet (I can only do so much at work before people wonder what I am doing). Have you upgraded to Radio 1.20? If not, what radio are you running and what do you think of its stability and/or functionality?
Thanks!
I'm running the 1.20 radio. It and the 1.35 TyTN ROM are the best combination I've used so far.

Cingular 8525 spl 1.06 unlocked (XP only not VISTA)

Thanks POF, my 8525 is unlocked, but I have gone through hell with Vista so just to let you all know that "don't try these upgrades on VISTA".
I have read many posts and finally got it to unlock. In any case, here is what I did (on a XP box with activeSYNC 4.2 - it is running all the time for each of the steps below):
1) on XP, connect the phone to XP and make sure ActiveSync see the phone. Run the exe in 1.30 ROM for Cingular to download the SPL to 1.04. After this the phone will reboot/restart itself.
2a) On XP, with ActiveSync running and connected, run POF's MaUpgradeUt_noID.exe within the unlocker v2a xip file to upgrade the radio to version 1.16. If it fails with ERROR 114, go to step (3); else go to step (2b).
2b) If the first time failed, DON'T TOUCH THE PHONE. Run the exe again and the second time should run fine. There is a 114 error at the end and it is OK. Once you get the 114 error, soft-reset the phone before next step.
3) On the phone, flash with POF's unlocker (v2a) ON THE PHONE MEMORY HERM_Unlock_v2a.exe (in the zip file same as above download for unlock v2a). There is a success notice at the end.
That is it. Hope this help someone.
Andy
And what about the CID matching
Good for you! Tomorrow I´ll be picking up my 8525 and I´am anxious to unlock it and strat using it, in preparation I´ve been reading throughout the forum and looks for me that it was very simple for you (except for the issues caused by Vista). I was wondering if you had to check the CID in your device or if you just went blind into the procedure regardless the CID inconveniences?
Why don't 8525 users simply call cingular for the subsidy unlock code? Its cleaner, faster, and there is no risk to brick'ing your phone.
I really don't get it.
Just followed your steps and it worked for me as well. The first time I ran MaUpgradeUt_noID it failed with a 112 country code. But like you said, run it the second time and it worked.
Just popped my tmobile sim in and am going to install blackberry connect because that sim has by BES enabled and see what happens
Thanks much!!

I asked the rep in the cingular store, they lie to me, telling me just call the 611 customer support number and they will unlock me. So, it is a company phone and I said fine.
I have been cingular for years and I will definitely switch to TMOBILE once this expire! I had tmobile before and they just require me to be with them for 90 days before I call.
About the 611 call, they ask me to join the $6.99/mo global travelling plan.

All you have to say is you're travelling outside the United States and wish to use the phone with a different sim. They will do it right there and then, or they will log a ticket to have some other group do it. It can be had instantly, just a matter of whether the rep you talk to have access to that system. The unlock code is based off of your IMEI number.
I think there is a number in the wiki page that connects you directly to their roaming group of some sort. I just dialed 611 and they emailed it to me the next day without any additional plan.
You'll simply roam on other carrier if cingular network isn't found.

That is what exactly I said.... I have 3 other phones with Cingular before and they all unlocked the same way. I think they just mess up on this one this time.
hey ya'll, so I followed these steps and everything works except for now, the backlight on the slideout keyboard no longer turns on -- any suggestions on what to do now?
no cingular unlock code can SuperCID your 8525 however...
I worked for me
andykwg : Thank You!
Having your post as a starting point and after a lot of reading through out the threads I suceed to unlock my 8525 spl 1.06.
I found a couple of issues during the unlock
1.- After 2% progress I got an Error # 262 (Update Error) so I had to get into the recovery procedure, but it was very easy and finally I downgraded to ROM 1.30.502.1
2.- During the Radio Patch flash I got the Error # 120 (Country Error), but as you instructed I only had to rerun the exe and at the end I got the expected Error # 114
Thnk you and pof, I guess I wouldn´t dare if I had read your post.....
I see that you can't do this in VISTA.
Has anyone tried in Windows XP x64 yet?
Thanks,

flashing to Dcd 3.2 - I messed up :(

Please help..
I have the HTC P4000
I have downloaded these before I started from here:
http://www.lifesnotsogood.com/dcd1182
Bootloader: titan_SPL_2.40-olipro.exe
Carrier file: dcd Telus Carrier 20080706.cab
Radio: Titan Radio ROM 3.42.30.rar
Rom: dcd_titan_3.2.0.exe
Kitchen: dcd_titan_kitchen_3.2.0.rar
Then started to follow this:
http://wiki.xda-developers.com/index.php?pagename=TitanRecentHome
I. Prepare with EPST:
- Done
II. Install the correct bootloader
- I did this and it told me I had 1.04, so according to the instructions, I ran the titan_SPL_2.40-olipro.exe file and followed its instructions..
Got to the screen where it said to uplug and plug back in, except when I plugged it back in, it never resynched.. Active synch stayed grey.. But I followed the instructions anyways, and it said that it flashed successfully.. (Even showed the bar on my phone go across, but very quickly..)
Except when it restarted, it kept going to the coloured bootloader screen, which says:
TITA100 MFG
SPL-2.40.Olipro
CPLD-9
And then sits there and does nothing..
So I went to:
III. Radio Upgrade
-> B. Change the radio with a full carrier Radio & OS ROM flash
--> B. Flash via the USB
It again ran me through that same grey screen, but still no active synch connection. Now when I restart my phone, it shows the HTC screen, with this info:
M 09
P DCAAXAM-4350
R 3.42.30
D 2.13
And some other set of numbers that I can't read..
And then it goes to the TELUS screen and it sits there. I can still go to the bootloader fine if I use the POWER-CAMERA-RESET option, but my phone doesn't start. It stays on the TELUS screen.
What do I do now. Have I bricked my phone?
Boot to the bootloader, and you should see the bottom of the screen go from Serial to USB mode when you plug in the mini USB cable.
You should be able to flash at this point using the RUU.
If you are still having problems then, you need to go into ActiveSync, and uncheck 'Allow usb connections'...
You updated the bootloader and radio, but you didn't update the ROM. Just go into the bootloader and flash the ROM now and it should be fine.
He doesn't need to uncheck the allow usb connections..
Ok, now it says:
Verify that you want to update ROM version from:
Image version: (blank)
to
Image version: 3.42.30
I clicked next, it showed the progress screen.. Went to 8% then my P4000 restarted and this error came on my RUU:
ERROR [328] INVALID COMMAND
P4000 is still stuck on the TELUS screen..
That's not the ROM, that's the Radio. You need to flash the ROM. Run dcd_titan_3.2.0.exe with your phone in bootloader mode and connected via USB.
Cool, now I'm in WM 6.1, waiting for customization.. I want to do this right.. Thats the next step?
Thanks alot man..
Make sure you install the Telus Carrier cab now.
This is gonna sound dumb..
But how do I do that? The FAQ doesnt mention anything about this..
I've extracted "dcd Telus Carrier 20080706.zip" and see a few files..
Do you know how to install a cab file (application) on your phone?
Yes I do, but I'm in the custmozation screen.. From what I know, I shouldn't be continuing past this..
No, it's only when flashing the stock Sprint roms that you have to worry about customizations. It's fine when flashing a custom rom.
Set it up, when it boots to the today screen, copy dcd Telus Carrier 20080706.cab to your phone, then run it to install. Then soft reset.
Ok I continued by it anyways.. and now im in, I installed the carrier cab file using my microsd, restarted..
Doesn't seem to be activated or anything.. I dialed a # it says to press *611 to activate,.. that doesn't work, was there a diff thing i'm supposed to dial?
Ah, I got it.. its *22803 Restarting..
Cool, now I'm up and running.. But I need the kitchen now right?
I followed the FAQ, and it says to do this:
V. Kitchen
Run BuildNB.bat to execute BuildOS
Hit the play button when you have selected your choices.
Exit BuildOS once it has completed.
Let the batch file complete its jobs.
When I run BuildNB.bat it comes up with an error saying:
"Windows cannot find RomUpdateUtlility"..

No, you're all done. You either install the premade rom (which you did) or a rom you cook from the kitchen. One or the other.

[UPG]Hard-SPL Unlocker by Raphael Elite Team[ONLINE]

Hi guys, for donations:
EDIT: see Raphael Elite Project ROM thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=2565341 also, donations list will continue there.
UPDATE 2: Hard-SPL released!
NOTE: This is NOT a SIM unlocker - it also doesn't unlock Security for other radios. if you need that, GO HERE
thanks to Chainfire, martinitime and many others for testing!
Instructions:
1) download Hard-SPL package from attachment, extract to an empty folder. make sure it's launched from a local drive (not through network drive, etc.)
2) you must Have Phone Synced with PC in Windows Mobile!
3) run RaphaelHardSPL-Unsigned_190_1_3.exe,
4) follow steps in the RUU, check device for prompts after PC shows loading bar.
5) it should go to black screen now.
6) SPL flashes, device automatically reboots, job done.
7) to confirm you got it installed, go into bootloader mode (tricolour screen!) and verify the screen shows 1.90.OliNex.
NOTE: you will not see the SPL version during normal boot, that is the OS version, not SPL!
to enter bootloader mode to see version: with the device turned on, press and hold the volume down button, then press the reset button with the stylus tip, then release the volume down button when bootloader tricolour screen appears.
NOTE 2: anyone having problems with the device entering SSPL automatically, please copy SSPLManual.exe from second attachment to the device and run it. then once the screen is black, run RUU manually. i.e. you run the RUU on the PC, if it isn't obvious.
NOTE 3: this is unsigned Hard-SPL. no limitations on flashing ROMs or radio packages. also, this has overwrite protection, if someone needs to revert to stock SPL for warranty reasons, we will soon post a stock SPL downgrade package.
NOTE 4: do not use this RUU for anything other than SPL flashing (i.e. hardspl or stock spl restore)!!! if you want to flash some other rom, then use customruu from: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=410761
---------
UPDATE: STEP BY STEP HOW TO RETURN TO STOCK SPL - FOR WARRANTY REASONS ONLY!
0. be sure to first restore stock OS, and stock radio. stock SPL is always to be done last!!
1. download the stock spl package from this post.
2. also download the original hardspl from the attachments in this post.
3. run the hardspl exe but do not click anything in RUU yet. just let the hardspl EXE extract the files for flashing.
4. the SPL you want to revert to is a .NBH file, put the NBH in the extracted hardspl package, overwriting the original NBH file in it!
5. continue with the RUU (or if needed, run SSPL-Manual.exe manually, then run RUU when it goes to black screen), it goes to 100%, reboots, done.
+6. to verify, volume down + reset, see version number on tricolour screen, should now just say 1.90.0000.
that's it.
will hopefull get one in a week or so as my contract is up for renewal on saturday but stocks are non existent at moment or so ive heard they sold out.

uhhh.. its a stupid question but how u can say "We have HARD-SPL ready" if u dont have one to test??
I dont know... Its like go to the lions without protection
Of course we dont expect dead devices, but... How is that about "hard-spl" ready?

yeah, exactly this is why we need testing. it will most probably need extra tweaking, otherwise we would have just posted the file
Ok cmonex! I will inform you when I have a Raphael for testing, just as Diamond
Sat with one in my hand Right now.
What you need me to do?
so we have on person with raphael, how is it going with unsigned hardspl?
What does Hard-SPL stand for?
I wanttt, I wanttttttt... This is the only missing piece of software for my future Raphael, already have the AT&T ROM and Raphael ROM kitchen.
well I had a dedicated tester... he disappeared
rhedgehog: I'll get back to you on this
but it would all be so much easier with a device physically available here...

I say we chase after him with torches and pitchforks, the angry mob WILL get that Raphael!!!
happy to help.
may not have it for much longer, but i'll do what i can.....
Olipro, Cmonex,
I 'should' have 3 Raphael's (Voda) for testing around the 27th. If you have not had anyone help test with pre-release units by then count me in. I am pushing for them a little earlier but we shall see.
John
I've got one device my friend. Should be able to test Monday if you want me to.
Cheers
testers

Rom help

I've been reading around and trying to get my head around how to get this going but felt I should just ask. I want to put Dynamics 7 on my phone but I don't know where to start? Could somebody help me out? Thanks for at least reading.
I take it you have a Titan? You really will need to study up on flashing before attempting to do anything to your phone, HSPL will be the first thing to consider and then you will probably need to use the Gold-Card method to successfully flash your chosen ROM,
HSPL Thread here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1684912
Best of luck
I'm trying hspl and its not working on ruu. It cant get a connections why is that?
Also: I found these intstructions somewhere else. Is it safe to follow?
1) Turn off your HTC Titan.
2) Turn on your HTC Titan, enter SPL mode by doing so.
3) Unrar the compressed file DFT__HSPL_WP7SG1.rar
4) Go into DFT_HSPL_WP7SG1\1_SPL205\TITAN\ inside the directory where you extracted the file DFT__HSPL_WP7SG1.rar
5) Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe
6) Wait till the precedure finish to install SPL (0% -> 100%)
7) At the end of the procedure the device will reboot.
8 ) Enter SPL mode, or turn the device off and enter SPL mode again if you didn't make it in time.
9) Go into DFT_HSPL_WP7SG1\2_HSPL\
10) Run SFT_HSPL_WP7SG1_INSTALL.exe
11) Install HSPL following the istructions on screen.
12) At the end of the procedure the device will reboot.
13) Enter SPL mode, or turn the device off and enter SPL mode again if you didn't make it in time.
14) This time you should be able to read HSPL2.5.160015.3 and CotullaH at the top of the SPL screen
15) Unrar the compressed file DFT Eternity 24 langs Freedom V1 Pearl Edition.7z
16) Run ROMUpdateUtility.exe
17) Wait till the precedure finish to install the custom rom (0% -> 100% , it will be slower this time)
18) At the end of the procedure the device will reboot.
Personally I would stick with the information you find on this site, Many happy custom ROM users out there will agree, Read first, Understand, Then attempt if you are 100% sure, Otherwise you will be asking how to un-brick your phone.
I understand, then quick question on RUU am i doing task 28 or 00? It's not giving me a country error it just says my phone is not connected.
Sounds like you are using the Advanced ROM Update Utility? Are you sure this is the method recommended for flashing your chosen ROM or HSPL even? Read the HSPL thread and it says if you cannot establish a connection then use the Gold Card method, Think you need to do a bit more reading.
I asked because it says " If flash fails with error "Country ID error" you should use gold card to flash. Im not getting that error. just no connection.
Edit: when i put in spl mode it connects then goes to 4% then give me error 294. is that the Country Id?

Before you do anything else, do you have a USA AT&T Titan or EUR Titan? This is very important
It's a USA I just read about having to gold card US ones. Already ordered everything just wish I didnt have to go through all this trouble.
What have you done so far? I guess since you "have ordered your stuff", nothing yet. If that's the case, make your gold card with the EUR 2.5 ROM (get it from here) and before you do anything else, flash using the gold card method with this ROM.
That will de-brand your Titan (meaning take it away from AT&T's clutches!). Supposedly, if you have a USA AT&T Titan you must do this first or be stuck like the rest of us with 2.5 SPL and no HSPL and no way of getting a custom ROM on our device until this $#!7 is fixed.
thanks so much! Yeah ill try it haha.
