[Q] Tango

Anyone else having issues with Tango on the Atrix? Mine keeps forceclosing, the app won't even load all the way
yes I am also having issues... just have to wait for an update to support our phone.
That's what i was thinking, i just wanted to make sure i wasn't crazy. They need to hurry up and update the app!
"Avi, Feb-24 01:56 (PST):
Greetings from Tango!
Thank you for contacting us about getting the Motorola Atrix supported on Tango! Today we got our hands on this great new device and our engineers are hard at work on a fix! We hope to release it soon and will let you know as soon as an update solving the problem is available.
Thank you for your patience!"
Hope its soon!
I'm hoping it's soon too!
I'm sure the quality will be great with the .2Mbit upload speed
I kid, I kid.
I prefer not using wifi as it drains the battery a lot faster.
Thats the same response Tango gave me regarding the Dell Streak. That was over 2 months ago
let's hope it doesn't take that long in this case. at&t seems to be fully behind the atrix. already saw a couple ads on tv...
keep pestering tango is all i can request...
Separately, and only if many of your contacts arent on tango...
qik for atrix is out and it works great. i only test from atrix to atrix and atrix to nexus s.
https://market.android.com/details?id=com.qik.motorola.android&feature=search_result
New version released for Android!
Quick bump here. Tried this today and it works quite well. Much better and higher quality than the yahoo messenger, and a great alternative to skype....though not as many friends have Tango. But it functions quite nicely.
They've announced that they'll be launching desktop software soon. Once they do this it will be frickin' amazing. Glad we have Gtalk Voice and Video working but the more options, the better.
Screw Skype and the fact that it never closes unless you download a third party app to kill it. It's owned by MS now too so it will only get worse.

Anyone else hyped about BBM's possible porting to Android?

I know I am.
Sent from my HTC Glacier running CM7 RC
Nope. Seems alot easier to just send a text message. No need to wonder if the person I'm trying to message has BBM or not.
I am...will be able to communicate with a lot more people. Some of my old BBM contacts didn't have unlimited text

Exactly! Or if you yourself don't have unlimited text, it works wonders! I'm stoked!
nope, don't really care at all..most people have unlimited texting now and BBM will probably die along with blackberry
If carriers don't charge extra for it then I'm hyped if they do then no kik messenger works fine for me.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using XDA Premium App
Not really, no.
Maybe if it was a year or so ago. Back when I first got my Android phone in place of my blackberry I would have used it a lot. But just about everyone I used to talk to on BBM back then knows I never use it anymore and a lot of them don't use it anymore either.
Literally 2 of every three people I know use BBM religiously. I'd love for it to port to Android.
Sent from my HTC Glacier running CM7 RC
I'm not stoked for it. I don't know anyone who really uses BBM. Plus since I'm not a BB user I'm really interested in it. But i'm sure there are plenty of people who find some use for BBM.
Live Profile works fine for me.

When i had my blackberries, BBM was the hardest thing for me to leave behind. As i've matured in the world, and all things cell phone related. i have come to the point where BBM is not useful, it's pointless, and offers nothing that no one else currently offers. Will i download it? dunno? will i use it? most likely not, i only know one person with a blackberry. And he also has a Google Talk App on his phone. So... it's pointless.
I think it's RIM last stand against the two big platforms out there... I can just picture Bugs Bunny saying "eh... if you can't beat em.... join em "

I've owned a 8100, 8310, 8900, 9530, 9700. There is nothing that special about BBM. file sharing? EMail. Calendar sharing? Google Calendar. Memos sharing. SpringPad.
Everything can be done else where.

Okay... okay ... you might have a valid point. But with Spring Pad/ Google Calendar/ google Talk, i do not have to worry about the BIS crashing and leaving everyone stranded. Or whomevers servers go down and leave that person out of the loop....
It's okay i know it's "more" work but i'll take the added bonus of not worrying about BIS crashing.

l love it

After I bought the View last week I had some buyers remorse because of seemed like a big cell phone without a phone. Then to my surprise HC was released which improved everything. I love the Scribe technology and that was the major reason for the purchase. Now with HC the integration is better and that makes this is a truly unique device.
My whole family is now together and everyone is pulling out their new gadgets which include a lot of Kindle Fires. When they saw the View and they saw the Scibe their jaws dropped. It is the best valed tablet today.
I will be using this in the office and in meetings and will leave the iPad at home.
I am glad to hear the scribe feature works well in HC. I am definitely getting a View.
Glad to hear it, I think it the best bang for the buck and has a great feel to it.. I can't wait to get one..
Plus, I have unlimited text messaging & picture messaging on my device? Anyone else have this, too?

I also love this tab but a few days before the release of HC, the tip of my scribe pen broke off. I am so upset about it. The boss (wife) told me there is no way in hell I an buying a $80 pen. I tools her I could find it for $32 and she said but that's still a $32 pen. I want to cry :-(

Call 1 (800) SPRINT-1, and they will provide a low priced tip, the sticker that comes with the Scribe pen says that eventually the tip will need to be replaced and to contat your service provider for a replacement tip. Please let me know how much it's gonna cost you.
Good luck!
On second thought, please call HTC. Sprint doesn't're sell the replacement tip, I just called. Sorry, but check with HTC! Let us know what they say!

Sprint Direct Connect Now -- Who's ready to get their Nextel back? [NOW AVAILABLE]

I've missed having PTT since I gave up Nextel for my HTC Mogul. But this news has got me stoked, and glad I've stayed with Sprint. Coming in the form of an Android application, this is rumored to connect with all past, present, and future Direct Connect phones...
http://www.engadget.com/2012/03/20/sprint-leaked-memo-direct-connect-now-android-app/
Anyone else able to get excited about this?
UPDATE: Released today, September 16, 2012. Only available for the Kyocera Rise in the Play Store. More phones to follow, but no information coming from Sprint about what or when...

Here's a video demonstration of the application from Sprint:
Not really, I always found it annoying. Nothing more annoying than listening to conversations in your super market by some wanna be thugs talkin to his baby mama

Hell yeah! PTT works great in the field. @
Always saw it as useful to people who can't be bothered to take off gloves or drop tools, like construction workers or garbage men. Its just instant speaker phone, right? I just remember a few friends having it and hearing that annoying chirp and listening to a conversation i'm not a part of. Pick up the phone and talk if you aren't preoccupied, chances are people aren't impressed and find you annoying.
PTT could be a blessing or a curse.
LONG time ago, I worked as an IT in a hospital, and was given a huge-ass iDEN phone. While it was great for my purpose (people in another branch could always get in touch with me), I grew tired of thug wannabes dialing random numbers and trying to see if they find a female on other end. Always pleasant when you sit in a meeting and all of a sudden *chirp* yo baby wassup! And no, I always had to keep this thing on, even during meetings. Company policy.
But other than that, it was great. Looking forward to it on Android, as long as you can set privacy settings, and maybe ability to reject callers on initial callup.
Sure, "Thug Wannabes" could be a problem. I grew up in a country part of Central Florida, and EVERYONE has it. They still run it. My dad just got rid of it recently. So, I'm glad it's coming back. There was a way to make your conversations go through the earpiece and not the speaker. Some people just didn't have the decency to do it that way.
Here's my take... If they are using their Data Network for this, than it's going to be worthless, the already existing TikL, is AWFUL if you don't have a decent signal. If it's going to be based off of their talk/text network, then I'm all for it, it would probably work much better.

That would be awesome to have! Makes it easier than having to call someone. Just wonder what buttons you'll have to press to use it easier, or would you have to do it the same way as Voxer?
Looking forward to this! Now I won't have to carry two phones at work. Any idea when it will be released?

I use tikl very often and it generally works fine even with only one bar of signal. I think it is by far the best PTT app for android. Tikl also has a privacy setting for all those who don't like that people can just chirp and start talking. With the privacy on no sound can come besides the chirp until you respond.
Well i do agree over hearing conversations can be annoying it wasnt just thugs everyome was guilty of that. I work in construction and always have 2 phones on me. My gs2 ans my i756. Alot of times its so loud i cant hear my gs2 ring but i can hear the 2 way on my nextel. It would be nice for my girlfriend to be able to 2way me if its something important.

HeyTell works pretty well for what it is.
It will be interesting to see if the app Sprint will be using is true time direct connect or voice storage.
The down side is the speakers on some android devices are horrible, EVO 4G and EVO 3D come to mind. Thats one of the main reasons i went to the Epic Touch, better external audio.

But contractors rely on that kind of communication
So i saw that "leaked memo" the transform ultra is in our stock and it is not PTT capable.
Hope they do make a PTT app for direct connect.

How can I survive a transformation to iPhone?

Hi all!
Been happy with my Android workphone for two and a half years now. But my ol' Desire is getting a bit tired and out of date. So I will get a new device soon.
But new corporate policy is that we only run iPhones as workphones. So my next will probably be an iPhone 5.
I know it´s a mighty fine handset I'll be getting but this ol' dog is a kind of a droidy dog. I´m clearly beeing thrown a bit outside my comfort zone here.
So I´ll gladly take any advice on how to handle the green abstinence, tips 'n tricks about managin' stuff in iOS and maybe the odd "hang in there".
Try to jailbreak it for one, sure it won't be exactly like android but it will be close enough and there are some pretty cool stuff you can do when you jailbreak your iphone. My friend was able to have an up and down scroll-able screen for his apps (kinda like the app drawer for gingerbread), as well as adding actual widgets.
Quit your job und change to a company which uses androids
Get the goophone i5 =P
Get a Goophone i5. But seriously why are they forcing the iPhone on you. I would try to convince them that it will slow your productivity since its slower to write emails/texts on because it doesn't have swype. I guess companies use iOS because its easier for new users and iOS never changes.
Completely wron section. All iphone decusions should use the sister site

I deal with it by having an android tablet. My company iPhone is good to make calls, text, email, and web browse. Past that it is largely useless. I save $100/ month by not having the phone bill. It sucks but it is worth it.

For the people who likes to custom and improves better features in the devices, Iphone is not a good idea, but sometimes we need to accept... And maybe by a Galaxy S3 and enjoy both :good:
Vini
Objectivly speaking now, i think iphone might be morw than suited for work related stuff.
It will run the required apps, it will run them smoothly, and generally bug free (less bugs than a full on modified rom for android most likely) . What would you really be using it for? Work email, work calls, work texts.
You can always have a personal android phone for leisure, tinkering and gratifying personalization. The iphone will do what it can, and do it good. The android will do what you want.
Ever had a sex change? yeah thats pretty much the contrast here
Leave the job. The company is doomed anyway.
Get an android anyway. A policy like that sounds like you work at the apple store.
Put a case on it, and once in a while ask it questions to act like you have siri.
You can pull the wool over a sheep's eyes.
They can't tell you have an android because it functions like iphones, maps, web, txt, and call.
Also, are you paying for it or they are?
If you're paying get android.
If they pay. Well, ..... Nice knowing you.
