Hi,
I have assigned speed dial codes to a bunch of mobile numbers. Starting from 2-9. If I press and hold key 5, it doesn't call the number it is assigned to. All other numbers works. All numbers are US numbers with the format 1(xxx) xxx-xxxx, calling them directly via contacts works fine.
Currently my device runs on Pampooh's Windows Mobile® 6.1 Standard CE OS 5.2.20282 Build 20282.1.3.6 (English Only) v1.05b ROM.
I had the same issue even when I was running earlier version of WM6.1 ROM by Erofich.
I remember that it used to work.
Any help would be appreciated.
Thanks,
JSenthil
Sounds like a hardware problem to me. I have no limitations on any particular number acting as a speed dial.
I can actually use the key 5 for all other purposes, for instance I can, dial numbers, access address book and type messages as well. So it can't be a hardware issue. I wonder if the cooked ROM's have anything to do with it. I have to mention that I like this ROM very much though, the phone is much more usable now.

Can anyone explain why when I recieve incoming calls, my XDA doesn't match numbers to contacts and displays names instead of just a number?
I believe that you need to ensure you are running the latest ROM & Radio Stack.
Also your contacts must be prefixed with +44 so it can do a full number match.
My contacts were all prefixed with +44..number
But when I dialed a contact, it would not dial. Once I removed the +44 it worked.
So the question is how can it display a contact name when I have taken away this prefix?

Hi guys,
One other odd thing I have noticed is that if you put a - in the number, i.e 07801-12345 it does not always match the caller and says it is unknown number.
Does any one have any ideas?
I am running the XDA Dev Rom.
Thanks, Gil.
i've noticed that sms complete there names when i put the country code and everything in the contact and incomeing calls complete when i have only the area code and the phone number. this is realy anoying
Try this patch from Paragon Software http://www.penreader.com/PocketPC/SMS_Name.html
which fixes all SMS2Name confilcts ... and voice calls (if the caller uses their mobile number).
But, there seems to be varying degrees of success downloading this patch.
If you cannot download the patch, let me know I have the original source code..which works great.
PS: Upgrade to PPC 2003 which has this fix built in !
in what format will everything need to be in to work with this new tool?
as i think that that fancy nice looking dialer program that comes in the dev's rom needs them without country code.
Ive read people asking this same question and it hasnt been addressed yet. I downloaded and installed the SE Rom 1.2, and I cant get the Phonext to assign individual ringtones. Ive tried everything, 100K or less, reinstalling Phonext, even trying a standard tone like Bellditty.wav, and Phonext always plays the default ringtone. Ive tried putting it in the Windows\Rings\ folder and still nothing. The only difference ive noticed in the phone since v1.2 was installed is the way my phone dials or recieves calls. Before when i dialed a number it filled out the ()and- automatically, ex: 555-555 now its 5555555, and before the caller id showed as 1(209)555-5555, now its 12095555555. And just out of curiosity, why does Caller2picture and Phonext always copy the ringtone to the Main Memory. The purpose of a program like c2p or Phonext is to assign alot of ringtones, Id rather have my ringtones on my 256MB Storage Card than my 32MB main memory, Ive tried changing my registry to set the default rings folder on my storage card, and it works when the phone is on, but if it starts to rings while my phones off, it wont ring. And thats setting the ringtone through the regular option not phonext, phonext still doesnt work. Has anyone figurd this out yet. Thanks for any help.
My conclusion, I already give up these 2 app regard ringtone setting. Just stick with the regular option.
One more thing, I have the same problem as u described. When I turn off the dvice, incoming call doesn't ring. One way to figure out is only turn off the screen and everything works fine while u set the default ring folder to the storage card.
This was a bug in Special Edition v1.2, not in PhonExt: I missed a registry key. If you add the following registry setting:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Sounds\RingTone0]
"SavedSound"="DefaultRing .wav"
PhonExt's distinctive ring feature will work.
Or you could make a new 3.17.03 based ROM from the kitchen. PhonExt's distinctive ring feature does not work on any ROM based on WM2003.
I've been using the Pic and Ring program with WM2003 and it's working just fine. I used it with 3.17 and 4.005 and 4.010

Thank you very much for the reply, i'll add the registry key soon. Thanks again.
P.S. XDA-Developers.com RULES!
HI jgme,
Did you get your phonext working? I have mine taken from a rom kitchen cooked 3.17 rom and has the registry setting that xda developer has posted earlier. It still won't work. Can someone kindly give me a checklist on all the areas to check on to get the darn software working?
Cheers
Vic
No I fixed the Reg key and it still didnt work. Well when i open up regedit, SavedSound was already there, so i changed the value to defaultRing .wav and it still didnt work. So maybe theres someone with other ideas?
Hi I'm suffering from the same problem with caller id show as +1(208) 2334 4444 when dialled using PhonExt it inserts +1 which is US area code. My contact list store all contact numbers with (0208) 234 4444. I'm located in the UK I'm using
ROM VERSION: 3.17.03 ENG
ROM DATE 05/15/03
RADIO VERSION 4.21.00
Protocol version : 32554
PhonEXT 1.2.0.0
Any suggestion getting this to work .
Hi
Go to settings, connections, connections, dialling locations and change the country code. I simply deleted the entries in area code and country code and I could dial normally in the UK. However, I still can't get the ringtone customised to work !!!
:x

After I upgraded my ROM to DCD's latest, whenever I try dialing from contacts or speed dial, I get this error message:
"Press END key to stop intercept tone" and it never dials.
Anyone got any ideas?
which carrier?
never seen or heard of that, did you install the right rom for your carrier?
The carrier is Verizon and I chose Verizon from the kitchen when I created the ROM. I have made ROM's before on my 6700.
if I dial the number manually, it works fine. It's only when I dial from contacts or speed dial.
Strange.
Confirmed
I'm running the NexVision Hybrid ROM (based on DCD's ROM) on my XV6800, and I can reproduce this issue at will. I've narrowed it down (at least in my case) to the international dialing prefix being used. That is, if a contact's number is stored as (e.g.) "+1 212 555 1212", the dialer chokes on the "+1" - I hear a short beep, and then (usually) see the "Press END key to stop intercept tone" message.
If I edit the contact's phone number to remove the "+1" (or just the "+", leaving the 1), it dials just fine. Basically, it seems to always come down to the "+"...
The problem (for me, at least), is that I have a "+" prefix for most of my (many) contacts. Plus, most of the numbers in my employer's Company Directory (which I can search and dial from my device) have this prefix. I've had a few people ask me what the "+" prefix is all about, thinking the mistake is on my side for using some alien format for the country code prefix. Just to head that off, I'll point out that this format comes from the ITU-T Recommendation E.123, "Notation for national and international telephone numbers, e-mail addresses and Web addresses". So there. Plus, it's worked on every other phone I've ever used, including this one - at least I did, until I upgraded the ROM. ]
BetaMan, does this apply to your case at all? Either way, does anyone have any suggestions?
Thanks,
-roach
My phone has been great since updating to DCD's latest cocktail but today I started having a really weird problem.
I would manually dial a number in the dialer screen (# was not in my contacts) and it would instead dial a similar number of one of my contacts. Tried it 5 times and even tried soft-resetting and it kept doing it.
After the soft Re-set and clearing my call memory it started choosing a different number to call but still the same issue. The numbers is chose were very similar, all had the same area code and the 1st 2 numbers were the same but after that completely different.
Is there a way to go to the stock dialer? I'm on a Verizon 6800.
Thanks.

Are you talking about smartdialing? If so this is normal
What it is doing is that when you dial a number whether it is in your contacts or not, it is trying to recognize numbers that you have dialed. If it matches it will display the name of the contact and options to give information.
But if you keep dialing and the numbers don't match with any contact then nothing will appear. It will just let you dial the number that you are trying to dial with out having to look through a familiar contact.
it was doing the smart thing narrowing it down as I entered more numbers but after the 6th number nothing matched so it showed just the number in the dialing section of the screen. Hit the send button and it would then choose a contact to dial instead.

Hmm that is odd... If you dont really use Smart dial, try disabling it in the options menu of the dial screen. This might help. Are you running a custom ROM or Stock?
DCD's newest custom ROM with the custom dial. I was hoping there was a way to load the stock dialer instead to see if that helped.
Wow... funny, I had the same thing happen a few times exactly as described. I dialed the complete 10 digit number and instead it dialed one of my contacts with the same area code and partial prefix. I figured it was just me.
I'll try disabling Smart Dialing and see if that fixes it.
Also I looked at the numbers I called and I was trying to dial XXX-761-2056 but it dialed XXX-709-8039 so not even close. The other time it tried dialing XXX-701-5325.

So you guys cooked your own ROMS and when you cooked it you put the Vogue Dialer , Vouge Skin, and Smartdial?
Or the Stock Titan Dialer ?
Because I installed the Vouge options with smartdial and mine works perfectly.
I will provide you with the Mogul / 6800 Big Button CAB which will replace your dialer and the Touch Skin CAB to skin the dialer.... This might work "you can always uninstall it"
I didn't do any cooking, I just took DCD's basic ROM and loaded that but it came with a different dialer than stock for the XV6800.
I'll give those dialers a shot, that a lot.
Turns out that this is the same dialer as the one built into DCD's ROM but what is interesting is no numbers showed on the keypad. It also showed up as HTC HTC Home for the install in remove programs
Well crap. Turns out the HTC HTC Home listing in remove did remove the HTC home plug in but not the dialer and now I've got not #'s on the keys. I can't find the uninstall line for this dialer, any ideas? Oh wait think I found it. The Bullfrog Big Button Dialer right?
I installed the Wizard reTouched dialer (installing it will fix your no number issue). I haven't tried just dialing a random number though... lemme give it a shot.
Ok, I just tested it and it worked fine, let me find the dialer. It looks EXACTLY the same as the "stock" one in DCD's rom, but I found it's a little different.
Ok, here it is, it's attached in the first post of this thread. There are some skins for it too.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=315685
I noticed that when I tried to skin the stock dialer it didn't skin right. I'd have no numbers, or some of the buttons wouldn't map right. I installed the dialer in the thread above and I was able to skin it fine, and it makes calls without issue.
P.S. The test number I dialed has the same area code and exchange as a few contacts.
Oh, and the Wizard dialer will show up in your remove programs list.
You guys need to install the Big Button dialer along with the Touch CAB
The Big Button Dialer just installs the Dialer and the Touch CAB skins the Dialer with the key pad.
I have tried the Wizard Retouched one, but I removed it because it looks wack to me because you can't modify it like the big button can.
So for those with not having a dial pad
Install the Mogul Big Button Dialer
Then
The Touch CAB
Or they can pick whichever one they prefer.
You know, choices and all...

True, but after all it was an opinion not a fact.
Fact is that with the big button dialer and the Touch skin cab it is easy to make your own skins by replacing the ones that the Touch skin cab created.
This is meant for true modifiers. Because you wont have to be installing cab after cab after cab or even worrying about getting a gsm dialer that removes certain features on your phone.
Since I really don't care for the custom dialers I deselected the dialer skin and the smartdailing in DCD's kitchen. Now I have an original WM6 Dialer with WM6 smartdialing and I really like it.

UPDATE
I am assuming you guys use CDMA since it is a TITAN Forum. Be advised that using the Wizard Touch Dialer will not only give you memory leaks, BUT
also disable the ability to use 911 and other features such as the advanced configuration mode on your phone.
Check out post 170 on the same link that redirects you to the Wizard dialer

Workaround
I have found that when you are dialing a number that is similar, or if it happens more than once, push up on the directional pad after dialing the number which deselects the smart dialing number in the window. then press the green button as usual. This seemed to help and hasn't done it for me in several days.
Serf, Since I'm a newb at custom ROMS I didn't do the kitchen thing. Maybe I need to give that a shot so I can get the stock dialer back.
I have a strange problem. I am using NoChem 5067 ROM with Radio 1.35, Microsoft VC 1.6 (UK version although it happens with all versions 1.6.17913-1.6.19213 embedded as well) and icontacts. Unless I manually dial the number, both icontacts and VC will give me this message "Press End Key to Stop Intercept Tone" (unless I am roaming?!?!) in which case the call will go through. Has anyone had this experience? Is it possible that the tones are too rapid for Sprint's network to recognize on the Mogul (both software packages worked perfectly on the Apache).
Regards,
MG
