Could anyone advise me, I have Vista on my laptop, I use Ms mobile device centre to sync my xda2 (works well enough), I would like to upgrade the xda2to WM6 from pc2003se, would I be ok using vista or should I use my lads xp laptop with activesync?
What pitfalls are there using vista?
Not too sure on the pitfallss but as you have access to a PC with XP on it best suggestion is to use it.
Is there a software similar to the Nokia PC Suite that provides options to control / access the phone from the PC? I am used to the Sony Ericsson PC Suite with my earlier P1i and use the mRouter for accessing the internet. What i get from the HTC Sync is options to sync the data alone. Something similar to the PC Suite will be better!
Thanks

You could look at this and this. Haven't tried any of those, but hey, you could give it a shot
Just for info the second suggestion does not seem to work on Win 7, haven't tried the other yet.
MG
Have you tried running it in compatabilitymode for vista/xp?
any ideas for sync / rom update in non-microsoft OS? what about ubuntu?
PC Suite
the first option (htc phone portal) works fine for my Hero. the phone is added with a web server. from the PC browser I am able to connect to the phone and access all my contacts, SD Card contents and to an extend configure the settings as well.
Thanks

and costs 40$, that's why I'm curious how it's better than available free apps
Remote desktop is a program or an operating system feature that allows the user to connect to a computer in another location using a computer, see that computer's desktop and interact with it as if it were local.
with RDM+ you connect from your mobile to the desktop, you dont need another computer

but the same can be achieved with other free apps (the WM 6.5 native "Remote Desktop Mobile" or "zaDesktop"), so apparently the RDP+ must have some additional features? I'm just curious which
could you forward any link from where i can download this free softwares.

Remote Desktop - part of Windows Mobile 6.5, should be already on your device, instructions on setup can be found here
zaDesktop - can be found here,
Windows remote desktop is no longer available on windows mobile 6.5.3
and RDM+ is way much better than ZDesktop

And this brings back my original question: I'd love to know how RDM+ compares to zaDesktop in terms of functionality, given that the price difference is 40$ to 0.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
Forget That, Try Tonido
You can find FREE software called Tonido. I installed it yesterday and it's great, oh, and did I mention it's free?

I miss this phone
For some reason, whenever I share a pic to my computer, (Win 7 64), from my phone via Bluetooth, it shows up on my computer as locked and not shareable to anyone.
I access my media served to my Playstation 3, and nothing I share from my phone to my computer via Bluetooth doesn't come up. Any ideas?
Sent from my HTC 3VO.
You must make the files shareable within windows 7
If you go to pictures library you will see on the tool bar "share with" click on it and that will give you the ability to share your photos. You should have purchased an Xbox which acts as media extender with windows vista, 7 & 8
( Don't ask me for help as I couldn't care if your phone explodes, eh! )
when I connect Lumia 920 my pc recognize the device but zune can't find it. I tried on windows 7 and windows 8 pro but no avail.

Unfortunately Zune will never recognise WP8 devices, basically Zune is dead! You wil have to use the WP8 desktop software either for windows 7 or windows 8 Here.
I found just using windows media player to be good!

Yeah well, I have the same issue here.
So to be sure, let's say I have to developp WP7 applications on my Lumia 920 on Windows 7, since I can't get Zune to detect my Lumia 920 how am I supposed to deploy application to my phone ?
Visual Studio won't allow me to deploy if zune doesn't detect the phone...
